Object Services - Create Attachment ?????????

Hi Experts,
I have some Quries regarding Object Services -
               1) I want to attach 1 file ( Excel or word) to the Maintenance Order when I create attachement through Object Service and attach a document to the Order will it attach the document (i.e. Stored on SAP Server) or only create a hyperlink of the Document attached.
               2) If it is creating only the link is there any other way to attach a PC file to Maintenance Order.
I hv not implemented DMS over here.
               3) Is there any customization required for the Object Services.
With best regards,
Narendra Dere

1 - its stored on the server, not as a hyperlink.  For this reason you don't want to store immense amounts of data this way.
2 - DMS is the only other way I know of to attach documents.  Many clients have set up a simple DMS config with PM being the only module using it.
3 - No config needed for object services.

    I just found the solution...
    SAP note : 961572
    Symptom</u>
In the transactions for displaying cost elements (KA03) and changing cost elements (KA02), the 'Services for Object' function does not work correctly, as most Generic Object Services are unavailable.
    Other terms
    KA03, KA02, SWO1, K_OBJECT_SERVICES_INITIALIZE, BUS1059, BUS1030
    Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
    Solution
    Implement the attached program corrections
Then go to Transaction SW01 (Business Object Builder), enter BUS1059 as the object type, click Change, and make the following changes:
Navigate to Methods -> RevenueType.Display, press F2 to select it, and go to the 'ABAP' tab page: Select the 'Transaction' radio button, enter the name as KA03, and click 'Save'
Navigate to Attributes -> Attribute properties, select the 'Mandatory' checkbox, and click 'Save'
Then change the release status by navigating as follows:
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To implemented
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To released
Then double-click BUS1059 (or select using F2) in SWO1 to reach the 'General' tab page, which should appear as follows:
    ObjectType      BUS1059         Revenue element
    Object Name      RevenueType
    Program          RBUS1059
    Objtype status   generated       Saved      released

  • Create Attachment issue in storing the document

We are facing an issue in tranaction PR05 (Travel Expense Manager) on services object for Create Attachment. We would like to know is there anyway/manage to find any setting so that the u201CCreate Attachmentu201D  would result in storing the document on the content server like the u201CStore Business Documentu201D does.
    Please advise and confirm.
    Thanks & regards
    AK

I try to answer based on my understanding.
If you want to store the document in the server when attaching the document in Services for object, it can be done.
You have to define the directory in the server where the documents are to be stored. Also you need to define a naming convention for all the files which need to be stored in the directory.
Then you have to programatically enable the services for object to store the files in the directory created for that purpose. Also on clicking, you should programatically enable the document fetching from the directory by making use of the naming convention.

  • Create attachment for PO

    Hi expert
How can i Create attachment for PO use ABAP.
    BR
    Chris

You can attach manually any document to PO .
But you cannot attach document while you create PO in T/Code ME21N
Save you PO ( ME21N ) and again open with change ( ME22N ) then you can attach document through Service for Object button. Service for Object button available down side of Command screen ( in your PO screen ME22N )
Click your Service Object button -> Create -> Create attachment
then select your window directory ( which file you need to attach) select your file Now your system shows message  Service "Create attachment" is started.
Save again your PO. You can see (open) your attachment in same field ( Service for Object ) select and Create and check attachment list. You can attach as many document in your PO.
Note: This is only information for internal or you can print separately this document for sending to vendor ( fax ) System will not print automatically along PO print out.

  • Create Attachment through Generic Object Services (BC-SRV-GBT)

    Hello experts,
I have one question about a storing of document in this functionality. As you know there are several ways of storing a document to some object.
    1. Using the menu: "Create - Create Attachment"
    2. Using the menu: "Create - Store  Business Document"
In the first case the document will be saved in SAP Database (Please correct me if I mistake). In the second case an optical archive must be connected to the SAP System.  Can I use an optical archive in the first case?
PS. When I use the second way I don't see the name of document in the Attachment List. If use  "Create - Create Attachment" - it is OK.
    Thanks advance for any help.
    Your faithfully,
    Alekseev Aleksandr

  • Attach Documents to Custom Program Using Generic Object Services

    Hi There,
I created Object type ZGOS and used in the custom program, when i try to attach documents it allows and then shows in attachment list.
But When I use that program next time that document attached is not available.
Is there any separate save Class or FM available for saving the document to the specified custom program.
I am using following code in the program,
      CLEAR obj.
    SET OBJECT TYPE TO 'ZGOS'
      obj-objtype = objtype.
SET OBJECT KEY = REPORT NAME
      SELECT SINGLE name
      FROM trdir
      INTO obj-objkey
      WHERE name = sy-repid.
CALL GOS MANAGER WITHOUT CONTAINER (WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE TOOLBAR)
      CREATE OBJECT manager
        EXPORTING
          is_object = obj
        EXCEPTIONS
          OTHERS    = 1.

  • Attachment List in Generic Object Services disabled

I want to attach documents to a work centre (transaction CR02, business object BUS0011). This has been configured so that the document will reside in the content management server and will be accessed using Archivelink. I can successfully store the doc using trasnaction OAWD, and can then retrieve the doc using transaction OAOR. The links are correctly created in table TOA03.
However, when I try and view the docs from the Generic object services button for transaction CR02 the "Attachment List" link is greyed out.
I've just set this up for invoices (object BKPF) so can't understand why this hasn't worked for work centres.
I've implemented the interface IFARCH21 for BUS0011, and this hasn't resolved the issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Richard

    Richard,
Your using the wrong object, I don't have access to an SAP system right now, so I can't tell you what the correct object is, but when it's configured correctly in OAC3 it will not be grey out.  Best thing to do it see what the object the program is publishing.  This is what GOS is looking for.  IFARCH21 is not the answer, unless your using workflow

  • Attach PDF to PO object services list works for ME23N but not ME22N

Manualy attach a PDF file from users PC to a PO. The attachment works for ME23N as described in SAP documentation for creating an attachment to the object services attachments list.
When ME22N is used the "attachment created"  message displays but exiting the PO and reenter ME22N and the attachment is not saved in the services attachment list.
Where is the configuration for this object service attachmentS?
What is needed for ME22N that is different than ME23N?

    Hi,
I don't think any difference b/w these 2 Transaction related to attachment of document through Services for Object.
If you have the authorization for ME22N transaction definitely you can attachment any document both in ME22N & ME23N transaction throught this Services for Object.
Check once again. If still you face the problem discuss with your Basis Consultant

  • Business Object Services- Attachment vs store business document

    Hi,
There are two ways to add attachments to a Purchase requisition.
    1. as a generic attachment- (System --> services for object --> create attachment )
    2. as a business document ( System --> services for object -->store business doucment)
Looks like in both the options, attachments could be stored on HTTP Content server.
What are pros and cons of storing an attachment as a business doc?
What are additional functions possible with option 2?
    Thanks ,
    Vinay

    Hi,
Attachments are stored in binary format.
Advantage of  storing in SAP is speedy access, than compared to content server.
Disadvantage some of the table space grows exponently.
Some of the tables attachments get stored are SO*
To get the link for the folder and attachments stored in SRGBTBREL
Various type of attachments are ATTA NOTE URL MSG etc.
For custom attachment options can be enabled using class CL_GOS_MANAGER
    aRs
    If useful pl. assign points
