Object too small to select on design canvas

I have created 14px by 14px images for a mini navigation area, and added them to a set of Image components.  Due to the very small size, these objects are not selectable on the Xcelsius design canvas, although I can select them in the object browser.  The only way for me to affect their position on the canvas is to add another temporary object and do a multiple selection, and then drag the temporary object around.  (The object in question gets dragged along with it).
Since I seem to have a decent workaround, I'm just posting about it to report the problem.

Thanks Forto. I check into it.

How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.

Hmm, possible solution would be to select your object(s), scale them to 90%, and then hit Cmd+D or Control+D to repeat the transformation. I read that sometimes if you scale down too much and too fast it can cause this message.
    Hope this works for you!

I fear that I have maxed out illustrator in some fashion, the illustration

  • Font sizes render too small in DW CS3 design view?

I have recently upgraded to DW CS3 from DW8 (which is still
installed) on my Vista Ultimate system.
For some reason CS3 occasionally renders fonts smaller than
they 'should' appear. This can be replicated using the below code
(I realise this code is not 'best practice' by any measure but it
is the simplest way I could demonstrate the problem). In DW8 design
view it renders exactly as it outputs in IE5, 6, 7, and Firefox
(with default viewing settings) but in DW CS3 the font appears much
smaller! I realise this is probably a standards issue, with CS3
probably sticking to the standards more firmly than the browsers
and DW8 but I need the design view to render as the browser will or
it is no use to me
Please do not say that I should amend my code to be more
'Standards Compliant' as my main use of DW is coding a large
PHP/MySQL invoicing system which is used within a controlled LAN on
IE6 only. It was originally written by someone else and has been
added to and updated by myself. It is very large and certainly
doesn't need rewriting just to render correctly in DW CS3 design
    view.
    Any help greatly appreciated

    Thanks, Malcom

  • "ORA-19011: Character string buffer too small" doing select xmlelement???

Apparently there is a 4K limit on the amount of XML that can be produced doing a select with SQL/XML syntax, or so it appears. That is pretty disappointing. It makes this feature uselful only for demos. 256K would be a much more realistic limit for real-world applications.

Is there any work around for this when I was using XPath I was to able use xmlsequence and come around this. But when I am using xquery execution seems to be slow, I do not want to xmlsequence and further reduce the performance.

  • Error -200609 occurred at DAQmx Write: Selected Buffer Size Too Small

Hello, I'm writing some simple test VI's that I will eventually build upon to make an externally clocked analog output VI. I started with a very simple program to output finite samples using the onboard clock with the DAQmx Timing.VI. When I run the program, I almost immediately get an error. The error message is below.
Error -200609 occurred at DAQmx Write (Analog DBL 1Chan 1Samp).vi:1
    Possible reason(s):
Generation cannot be started, because the selected buffer size is too small.

    Minimum Supported Value: 2

I have used DAQmx VI's before in similar applications and never encountered this error. Additionally, I read at the link below that DAQmx Timing.VI should be generating the buffer automatically. Any ideas as what could be causing this?

Oops. Just realized my very silly mistake: I forgot to add the Start Task VI. I did so and it works as designed.

They immediately made my pasteboard gynormous.... that's one problem, but then, when I tried to type on the page I was going to I get this error message, "Requested operation would cause one or more objects to be too small...." and it won't let me type anything on that page. I can type on other pages, but not that one. I shut my computer down, started again, but still it's there. I saved as another document, but still.... can't type anything on the page. I've got a newspaper to get out. eek. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody can help you without any system info, details about your documents, fonts used and whatnot. From your description it simply sounds like a DPI settings issue...

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%)   If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly  – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display   Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see?   There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light.  MacBook Pro with Retina display, 15", OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Photoshop CC 2014

I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt.

  • Character string buffer too small (select list query based LOV)

    Hi,
Using the select list query based LOV with a select witch is too big, you get this error.
    report error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
When using the Popup LOV query based LOV) then it works nice.
    Can that be solved somehow?
With the Popup LOV the return value is displayed in stead of the description.

    Hi Andy,
How do I incorporate your suggestion on a report ?
    Example : I have
    select apex_item.display_and_save(1,column1,5) col1,
    apex_item.display_and_save(2,column2,5) col2 ,
    apex_item.popup_from_query(3, emp_name, 'select user_name, name  empname from table2) col3
Table 2 is a long list , and I'm getting string buffer too small due to this.
Your suggestion with HTP is good but I'm not sure how to implement it for reports as I'll like the user to change the values with the select_list.
I'm not using forms as they want mulit-record on the same page.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
    Thanks very much.

  • Selection tool / infinite canvas / gradient color picker

    Selection tool:
Select the objects that are fully enclosed by the marquee (instead of
selecting all the objects that "touch" the marquee).
Why: the actual implemented selection approach doesn't work fine in
many cases and slow down the overall design. It is not a matter of
religion..the corel draw way is the best one. I design software's UI
(mockups with many icons, buttons, images, texts and shapes) and, with
the current Ai's selection approach, I have to deselect (**** + click)
too many objects in many cases. With the "corel draw" selection method
I usually have only to drag the marquee in the right way (to fully
enclose only the objects I want to select) and the need to deselect
something ( shift + click) is very rare.
How to implement the feature: the user can activate this option
selection method in the prefs panel. In that way the selection tool
will remain the current one and the switch to the new selection method
    is provided as an option.
    Infinite canvas size:
Having an infinite canvas size to host artboards.
Why: with an infinite canvas size the user can add artboards without
any limits and using any layout (grid, left-right, top-down, etc)
    Gradient color picker:
The color picker panel can be opened from the gradient panel.
Why: The actual gradient panel doesn't let the user to visually pick
up a "precise" color for the selected gradient stop
How to implement the feature: the user can open the color picker
double-clicking the color thumb (icon) of the selected gradient stop
    in the gradient panel.

    Hi Argol,
I comletely agree with "all of" your features requests for cs6.
Regarding the request about the selection tool, I want to precise that it is shared by a huge number of people and we all hope that adobe will listen its customers. Here is an example of how is important to enable the alternative selection method (that is the one used by corel draw and many other tools). A simple selection like this is a kind of nightmare with illustrator (it involves many de-select clicks). Also, in real case scenarios, things are more and more complex and we all know how things can get frustating! :-)

  • Course displays in too small a window once it's in LMS

We're having a problem with our Captivate courses where, once
we've uploaded them to our LMS (GeoLearning) and launched them,
they launch in a window that is too small and can't be manually
resized or maximized. The window is about 30% too small, and scroll
bars display, forcing you to either scroll or zoom out. We even
tried publishing with "Full Screen" selected. Nothing works.
The LMS folks told us that Captivate uses code that the LMS
doesn't recognize. They gave us code for us to manually paste into
the generated htm file that basically forces the browser window to
display at a certain size (we chose the same size as our project:
1014x713). However, this doesn't work. The window looks the same as
it did without the code. I've e-mailed them for further assistance,
but I was hoping that maybe someone on this forum could shed some
light on this problem. I find it hard to believe that Captivate
    doesn't play well with LMSs.
Has anyone else had problems with their courses launching in
browser windows that are too small and can't be resized once
they're in an LMS? If so, what, if anything, were you able to do to
fix it? This is a pretty serious problem. At this point, it looks
like the only thing we'll be able to do is tell our students they
have to zoom out to 75% to be able to see the entire screen. Or,
maybe we need to resize our projects, except we don't have time to
do that now. We're launching our new LMS and courses in about 10
days, and that's not enough time to resize the project and then
tinker with the placement of objects on the screen.
If anyone has any ideas, I appreciate your help! :( I'm going
home now! Have a great weekend.
    Lisa

Lisa, I am certain that this is a LMS problem, not a
Captivate problem, and encourage you to keep after the LMS company
for help. But if I were you, I would immediately start creating
smaller Captivate projects. The size you mentioned is humongous by
any standards I've ever heard, and it occurs to me that perhaps it
(they) is/are so large that the size falls outside acceptable
parameters for the LMS. Just a thought ...
I'm just rambling now so feel free to skip this but if it
makes you feel better - and I know it won't - I once worked for a
web-application designer who created his company's application to
    be run
only at 1024x768 or larger. When I pointed out that nearly
all our customers were still using video cards supporting 800x600
(maximum), his simplistic reply was that I should tell them to
upgrade their equipment. He was a complete idiot.
I have never seen a program that couldn't be designed to run
fine in 800x600 and that would alleviate your problem (yeah, I know
there might be exceptions, but I've never seen a legitimate one
except those that are designed only for pod-casting).

  • Buffer too small for string - Crystal Report for Vs2010

    Hello,
I have recently upgrade my VS2010 project to Crystal Report for Visual Studion 2010.
I have some reports that contains more than 512 characters in the Report Comments section.
When I try to do a RptDoc.SaveAs(vPath, false) the following error is raised:
Buffer too small for string or missing null byte.
          at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocumentClass.SaveAs in :line 0
          at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.SaveAs in :line 0
          at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.SaveAs in :line 0
This line SaveAs was working has expected with Crystal Report 2008. Any idea on why it is not working anymore.
    Thank you.
    Charles

    Hello Don,
I have start a little project to retest the behavior.
I have create a new report in Crystal Report 2008 just by clicking New, Finish and Save.
In a new Windows Application in Vs2010 ,I have added the following Crystal Report Reference.
        CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=13.0.2000.0
       CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0
I have then try the following code and found out the limit of ReportComment is 511 but in the Crystal Report 2008 designer and runtime the limit did not apply.
    Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
          Dim objRpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
          Dim i As Integer = 0
          Try
             objRpt.Load("c:\temp\empty.rpt", CrystalDecisions.Shared.OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy)
             Do
                i += 1
                objRpt.SummaryInfo.ReportComments = New String("X", i)
             Loop
             objRpt.SaveAs("c:\temp\dfh_save.rpt", False)
          Catch ex As Exception
             MsgBox("i: " & i)
             MsgBox(ex.Message)
          End Try
    End Sub
I am able to put has many characters if I insert the report in the Vs2010 Solution.
If you prefer I can send you my little project.
    Thank you.

  • Cap3: Edit Audio Timing display's thumbnail is too small

    Hello ... Regarding Captivate 3 ...
I'm trying to time my voice-over audio to a series of
application scenario slides using the Edit Audio Timing display,
but am finding it extremely difficult because the small changes in
my slides (radio button selections, text input, dropmenu
selections, etc.) are too small to detect on the miniscule
    thumbnail used in the display.
Is this poor interface design, or is there a setting
somewhere that allows me to increase the size of the thumbnail?
I've looked around, but can't find one. How do you handle syncing
audio to stretches of small screen changes?
    Regards, Myron

    Hi Myron
I won't argue as to whether this is good, bad or indifferent
interface design. But it is what it is and as far as I know it
cannot be changed. At first I thought perhaps we might see a change
if right-clicking the image and choosing "Zoom in". But all that
does is zooms in on the waveform.
This doesn't help any, but you may wish to make the
development staff aware that you would like to see the behavior
change in a future version. You may do this by
    clicking
here and completing the form you should find there.
    Cheers... Rick
