Objects move and skew when a stroke is applied.

Essentially, almost any object that I apply a stroke to is moved and skewed some amount. It seems that when I apply the stroke it is anchored in the top right corner of the object and it is pushed down to the left, and when I decrease the stroke, the opposite happenes to a lesser degree. Some objects are only moved while others are only skewed, and some are affected by both. It only seems to happen when I increase/decrease the stroke incrementally using the arrows.
I would like for this to not happen, as I prefer my strokes to not affect the base object when I apply and remove it.

Looks like a problem with "align to  pixel grid". Do a research in this forum on how to solve it.

  • Moving selected objects up and down with keyboard is automaticly applying a colour fill.

    Hi,
My InDesign is strangely applying a colour fill when i move an objects up or down using the directional arrow in my keyboard. If the colour pallet is open. Nudging an object up makes the pallet disappear on the first press. It then reappears on the second press while filling the object (text frame) with black. This is instensly frustrating. How can I stop this? Suggestions would be very appreciated.
I have already reset the preferences.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have to ask if you reset the prefs uing one of the methods in this thread: Replace Your Preferences If not, there's a good chance you left out one of the files, so please try again using one of the listed methods. And please tell us the OS and your version of ID, including the patch level. Obviously this is not normal behavior. It sounds as if the Swatches panel has focus when you are pressing the arrow keys.

  • ITunes wiped out most of my music, movies, and games when I synced

I restored the settings on my iPod, downloaded a fresh version of iTunes 7.7, and tried to re-sync at least a half dozen times. No luck. It turns out that somehow my computer had been deauthorized -- I know it wasn't anything I did or didn't do; it happened spontaneously. Once I reauthorized my computer, my iPod starting adding back the songs, movies, and games. Hope this helps some other short-term sufferers from an attack of the iTunes elves.

I think it may be how all of your items are checked under your ipod in Summary and Music and Videos tabs. If you don't check either to sync (if you manually manage music and videos), it removes it. This is very confusing b/c you would think you only want to "sync" stuff that you haven't downloaded to your ipod. Not the case, though. You have to sync everything you want to keep on your ipod....I think

  • Behaviours make objects move in jumps when they are put far from origin.

Hi, i am trying to represent the solar system in java3d, but i have a problem that when you put an object at a point eg.(10000000,10000000,10000000) using a transform3d then attach a behaviour like keyboardbehavior to it, it moves in big jumps instead of smoothly. It will mroe smoothly the closer you are to the origin.
Can anybody give me some help as to why this might be.
Also, Am i using the right type of universe e.g SimpleUniverse, or do I need to use one with a HighresCoord or something.
    Thanks

    Search Spherical Linear Interpolation.
Gives you smooth transitions between vectors and rotations.
    v(t) = (sin(1-t)Q) / sin Q * v1 + (sin(t)Q)/sinQ * v2
where Q is the angle between the two vectors.
    Q = acos(v1.dot(v2))

  • SVG objects moved and reflected when reopened in Illustrator

    Hi,
After saving illustrator files in SVG format and then reopening, the objects are reflected (horizontally) and moved off the artboard. The objects are imported PNG screen captures and line drawings (such as a hand or pointing finger).
Also, we select the Embed option for the images; however, when we reopen it, that option is unselected if we just save. We have to select "Save as" to select Embed again.
The image below shows the SVG options we're using.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Hi Peter,
Yeah, that's exactly what's been happening to us, and yes, some of the embedded graphics are svgs. We need to embed them for our CMS.
We just tried opening an EPS illustration with numbered callouts, and then saving as SVG. When we reopened, all the callouts save one were missing, and the one that was present was way off the artboard. Then I tried saving with "Preserver Illustrator Editing Capabilities" enabled, and that seemed to solve the problem.  I tried it on your graphic too, and it seemed to work.
Thanks for pointing me in right direction! Hope this is it...

  • How to keep objects centered and fixed when window resized

    Hi,
Newbie here with a question about centering.  What I'm trying to do is center the content of a website and keep the content fixed in size, but what is happening is when I move the right side of the window toward the left side of the window (i.e. contract the window to a smaller size), the items that are centered,  keep moving.  For example, if I have a menu bar, I want the menu bar area to be fixed, and stay centered when a window is resized.  I've attached images of what I'm talking about to hopefully make this more understandable.
Below is the link I used for information regarding centering:

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 keep objects in fixed locations when report is executing

In an exisitng SSRS 2008 r2 report there are currently 5  tablixes. Right now in one of the tablixes, I am adding rectangles and textboxes to the one tablix. As I am adding these items to the SSRS 2008 r2 report, new items that I am adding to the report
do not stay where I placed them originally. In addition, some of the other tablixes are moving around (floating).
Thus may questions are the following:
    1. In one particular tablix, is there a way to anchor the rectangles and texboxes (keep them from floating)? If so, would you tell me how to keep fixed point locations?
    2. For all the tablixes on the report, is there a way to keep each tablix from flaoting (staying anchored to a fixed location? If so, would you tell me how to keep the various tablixes from floating?

    Hi wendy,
Just as you said, the location of report items would be changed depends on the data in other items and page size. There are no such property that can directly make an item stayed at a fixed location. While, if the issue is caused by the page size, we can
change it to an appropriate page size. If the issue is caused by other item data, we can try to use a rectangle to contain those items. Because rectangle is s object container, it can keep objects together on a page and control how object move and push each
other. For more details, please see the following document:

  • Anchor points move and entire shape gets distorted from changing stroke thickness

I have a fairly simple drawing that I drew at a larger size so I could be precise with it, and now I want to reduce it down to the finished size, and thicken the stroke, but when I make the stroke thicker, my anchor points move and the entire drawing gets distorted.
In 24 years of using Adobe Illustrator, I've never seen this happen. When I click on the "up" arrow on the Stroke palette a bunch of times to incrementally increase the stroke thickness, I can watch the anchor points "walk" around as my shape gets distorted.
If I instead enter a numerical value for the stroke thickness, this doesn't happen.
However, if I use the Scale tool to shrink the drawing down to 10% or 20% size or whatever, with Scale Strokes and Effects UNCHECKED, again, the anchor points move and the drawing is distorted.
This is all on a brand new installation of Illustrator CS 6 for Mac (though I've been using CS 6 for about 2 years now, my hardrive crashed this past weekend and I had to reinstall everything).
Did I miss a little checkbox somewhere that I've never seen before that's making this happen?
    Editing this post to add:
Also, some of the objects in my drawing will not allow me to change the stroke to less than 1 point thickness. If I choose .5 or .25 pt from the pop-up menu, or even if I enter the numerical value, it jumps back to 1 point. Other objects in the drawing do not.
These objects in question are "rounded rectangle" shapes that I've used the scissor tool on to cut and then used the "join" command to put them together with parts of other shapes that were "scissored' as well.
All of the "Ellipse" and "Rounded Rectangle" shapes that I left intact do not exhibit this problem with stroke and distortion.

You are being bitten by the Align-to-Pixel-Grid. Select everything and go to the Transform panel and turn off Align-to-Pixel-Grid at the bottom of the panel; then go to the panel flyout (small triangle, upper right) and turn off Align Objects to Pixel Grid.

  • Precise movement and drawing of objects in CS6

    Hi,
having used CS3 before, I've recently bought the CS6 package. I set all Preference settings they way they were in CS3 but I'm having difficulties moving a selected object in precise orthogonal (or diagonal) orientation. I'm used to seeing an "origin" alignment aid when I drag the object, usually at 0, 45, 90 or 180 degrees to its original position. This doesn't happen anymore in CS6, instead I get a myrad of alignment options to any other objects of anchors in sight, but not the important "origin" one. The same problem exists with the rotation tool - when I want to rotate an object quickly by 90 or 180 degrees, in CS3 I could just use the rotation tool and it would "click" into origin positions at 90 or 180 degrees. In CS6 I get an small window showing me the exact rotation degree, but to me it's pretty useless to know that I've just rotated the object by 179.6 degrees, but I can't get to the exact 180.
I am aware that I couold always use the Transformation option and enter a precise value of either moveemnt or rotation, but for simple actions it was much quicker to use a select and drag or select and rotate tool.
The pen tool is slightly better with the "origin" alignment aid, but still I get a lot more unwanted alignment options than before in CS3, distracting from quick and precise positioning of anchor points.
I do a lot of quite technical drawing, more akin to CAD than "free" illustration, but never had such a problem with Illustrator in CS3.
Is there a way to set up CS6 so it behaves the way I'm used to?
    Best regards
    Jeffrey Kubiak

Thanks, and bugger! I had no idea Smart Guides were changed that much - if it ain't broke, why fix it?
I've now read somthing about pressing teh shift key will bring up movement alignment in 45 degree increments. Pretty clumsy, as I often have the Alt key pressed as well when copying objects accross severy layers. I have Shift and Alt as the two buttons on the pen of my Intuos pad - I don't think I can press both at the same time (and even if I could it just makes things really awkward)...
Oh and btw. when I asked the question I wasn't aware that I was on a user forum - I thought I was writing to Adobe's customer service team! They did really well at disguising the path of getting in touch with them and thus making you guys do the work for them!
So sorry for not having much of a forum ettiquette in my very first posting.
    Cheers

  • Objects move when adding pages

When I add/remove pages, or just move pages around in my document using the Pages panel, random objects on some pages move. They normally move just a slight amount, and stay with the page, but it is very annoying. I never know which objects will move, and I have to spend a lot of time trying to find the ones that have moved. Then if I move pages again, or add/remove pages, other random objects move. Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to stop it?
    Thanks!

Try sending one of these files through .idml and see if it makes a difference. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991  You may also want to try replacing the preferences. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990  If you don't know what layout adjustment is, it's not likely that you've turned it on, and it probably wouldn't do this anyway except to move objects snapped to guides on master pages that have different left/right layouts.

  • I see a line when an object moves fast

Ok, I shoot a Video with My CANON XHA1S AT: 1440 X 1080 30 fps, with the speed of 60. I created a new project as you can see in Capture Shot.
I don't know why, But I suddenly see a shakey - line when a hand or any object moves close to the camera. Inside my Timeline I Slowed Motion few Tracks to 32%, the rest is at normal speed, When I check the speed for other Tracks it shows 99.9 %.
    Any answer please
    Thanks
    Simon

Try rendering a small part (and exporting it) of your timeline and preview it. Is the line still there?
My experience now is that with the hacked Mercury, the preview is not always top notch but rendering is.
Are you using interlaced video (you seem to be)? If yes, and you are slowing down your footage the shutter speed you used will make a huge difference in your slows. Usually you want it to be double what you normally use. 60 would be the bare minimum. 250 would be great.
On my XH A1 (not your model) 120 works fine (increasing it to 250 would mean I have lots of light, like outdoors for example). BTW, try the 60i mode. It has *double* the frames, which is great for slows.

  • Illustrator CS5 Rectangle Object Measurments and Strokes

Hi Guys. I'm hoping you can help me as this is driving me absolutely nuts.
    I'm running CS5.
I can't set a rectangle or rounded rectangle to have a stroke less than 1pt. When I select .25pt or .5pt it defaults back to 1pt.
I tried to set an object style with a .25pt stroke and on the rectangles it is defaulting back to 1pt again.
Similarly, with rectangles, if I set a custom width (ie - enter 6mm W) it changes to something rediculous like 5.83mm
The size boxes are not linked.
I don't have "Use preview bounds set".
    I've turned off snapping.
I've never had this issue with CS through to CS4, and to repeat, is only happening on rectangles and rounded rectangles, even those created manually with the pen tool.
Any ideas? Is this a known bug?

It is probably due to the "Align to Pixel Grid" - the newly introduced functionality in CS5. This property is ON by default for the Web document profile. If you want to turn OFF this property for a particular object then select the object, open the transform panel and unckeck "Align to Pixel Grid" and then set the stroke to .25 pt. If you need to this for all the object then you  can use another New document profile or turn OFF the setting while creating a new Web document. This is there in the Advanced section of the New document dialog.

If your program is Photoshop Elements 12, then you have posted in the wrong forum. Your thread is now in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
Please re-post your question in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.

While you are making your move, consider
    a. what computer operating system is involved...if we assume Windows
    b. have you checked Control Panel/Programs to assure that the program is no longer listed as an installed program?
If it is no longer installed, you might want to consider a free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get
rid of any leftovers from incomplete installs and uninstalls. Then reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
