Objects out of view in Bridge window?
Hi, I've just started using Bridge CS4, Leopard, after years in a CS2/Windows environment, and I noticed a strange problem--at certain thumbnail sizes, files/folders/etc end up out of the main window (and invisible), with no scroll bars to get to them. I can only get them to appear again by shrinking the thumbnail size (which causes them to appear from the right of the window). It's like Bridge thinks the window is bigger than it is and isn't stacking to fit.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
here is a good start -> [http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/03-may/o33xml.html|http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/03-may/o33xml.html]

I have been trying to figure out if I made any accidental changes in Photoshop. So far I haven't found anything. That might simply mean that I don't know all of the places to look. I have called Adobe and been on the support websites and haven't gotten a clear answer. I save as a JPEG with an embedded color file sRGB. Any suggestions on where else to look for accidental changes?
Everyone seems to agree that iPhoto doesn't work well with Adobe and should be avoided in the workflow. Truly, I had no idea! I just like the simplicity. The Mac store never mentioned problems between the two but did offer to help me purchase Aperture. I will use Bridge from now on to view the images and manage folders.
Thanks for your message! -
I keep multiple windows opened and minimized. Sometimes when I click on the task bar to restore one, it apparently "disappears" out of view beyond the upper left corner of the screen. From then on, it can only be seen by using Maximize in the task bar. When Restore/Move/Size are clicked, the pointer just goes to the upper left corner of the screen with all combinations of clicking/dragging having no success. What causes this, and what can be done to move it back?
If a window disappear then using the system menu can make it reappear or make it possible to move that window in view. I don't know what causes it to make the window disappear in your case if it does work correctly if you start Firefox.
You can check the browser.link.open_newwindow prefs on the about:config page if you want to open all links in tabs in the current window.

Is there a way to zoom out the viewing window of mac applications?
Is there a way to zoom out the viewing window of mac applications? I know for sure in safari I can zoom out, but it reverts to the original size as soon as I close out the window. I would really like to do this in safari and mail.
Thank you.Try system Preferences/Accessibility/Zoom.

How to zoom out and view an entire track in the window
There's got to be a way to zoom out so an entire track can viewed at once so that segments of the track can be shifted around. I have a track that is about 50 minutes long with several segments in it. I want to shift the segments around. Right now I can only view about a minute of the track at a time and have to click on the segment then move the cursor either left or right and wait for Garageband to scroll to the time where I want to put it. Isn't there a way to just zoom out and view the entire track and then shift segments around without all the scrolling? Does that make sense?

Hm ... mine zooms out to more than an hour?
interesting!
I opened GB4 and it maxed out at 4 minutes. then i opened GB6 and it maxed out at 15 minutes. then i opened another project in GB 6 and it maxed out at 35 minutes.
so there must be something else going on here, perhaps like how time sigs affected length in the older versions? -
TIFF & JPEG renders of RAW files appear different when viewed in Bridge
I am working with the demo of Photoshop CS6, with ACR 7.1. CS6 System Info will appear at the bottom of this post. Summary: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T, 16GB RAM, Win7-64bit, nVidia GTX 460 video w/1GB RAM, approx. 2.5 TB free space on multiple internal physical drives, Canon 50D, CR2 files. I have a camera profile generated through Profile Editor, and the monitor is calibrated with i-1 Match.
I have been practicing with the new Basic Panel controls (Process 2012). When I felt that I was getting the hang of them I started saving JPEG and TIFF files and noticed differences between what appears in Bridge and ACR. I worked on this for some time and searched out some other discussions in the Forum which seemed to talk about similar results. I have now tried Image Processor via Bridge, Save Image in ACR, and Open>Save manually in PS CS6. By whatever route, the TIFFs and JPEGs are different (lighter in the following examples, but this is not always the case), while PSD saves seem to be close, but not identical to the CR2 when viewed in Bridge or Photoshop. Here is a screen capture of Bridge thumbnails which show the differences.
I hope the labels come through legibly. The two images on the second row are CR2 and PSD respectively. What is really odd to me is that when I resaved the PSD file as a TIFF, the same sort of difference shows up in the TIFF. (See _MG_7960_via_PSD.tif above.) I have uploaded the CR2, its XMP, a TIFF and a JPEG on Sendspace (107 MB). I did this earlier in my experiments and regret that the file naming is not as informative as might be.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/t0lhko
I have run a few other ACR adjusted CR2 images through Image Processor and seen a variety of differences between the rendered files and the RAW versions. The differences seem to be in Exposure and Contrast. Most of these looked somewhat darker, unlike the examples above.
I will happily provide any other information on request. Thanks!

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEThanks very much for that lead, NormanPCN. I do have Auto Tone checked, though the rendered files in the example above do not have XMP sidecars. I will try unchecking Auto Tone even so, and post back when I see what happens.
Thanks again,
Kieren
EDIT: Bingo! I took Auto Tone off in ACR Preferences (in Bridge) and the non-RAW files immediately regenerated thumbs and previews. They now are indistinguishable from the PSD. There is still the very slight difference which I mentioned between the PSD and the CR2. While that seems odd, it is small enough to be relatively trivial.
Many thanks!

Bridge window placement?
Is there any way you can reassign the placement of the Bridge window? It's always on top of everything else, which would be fine if it would just stay in a corner where I put it. But nooooo. It always has to go back to the same place. I've looked in preferences but didn't see anything. What am I missing?
thanks! You have probably switched to compact mode and for that staying on top of
other applications is as per design (I admit, not a very good design...).
You should go out of compact mode using the icon top right in the Bridge
window or the menu view.
If you do have the need for such an option you should seriously look at Mini
Bridge in CS5. Just do a search for Mini Bridge panel in google and find
out for your self.
Here is one from You Tube

PSD shows small view in bridge but doesn`t open in photoshop..help?
Hydro shuut off and PC too and I can see just the small view in bridge and not full screen but it won`t open in photoshop cs3. Any help would be great. I tried illurstator, and infaview..nothing helped so far. File is 183 mb
I'm sorry to hear of your loss of data.
I'm also sorry to have to say that people can almost never recover damaged PSD files. This is one reason Photoshop CS6 is coming out with an Auto Save function.
Did you save your master file in several different locations, or do you have a backup? Make sure you protect any backed-up files ASAP, before they're overwritten by the corrupted one.
What do you see when you right-click the PSD file, and choose Previous Versions (assuming you have Vista or Win7)?
Under some conditions there's a possibility of recovering a flattened version from a truncated PSD file, depending on how you have your settings (maximize compatibility causes a flattened preview to be saved at the front of the file).

Is there a way to sort by description in the list view of bridge?
I am trying to sort a mass amount of PDF files using the description meta tag. Is there away to add that tab in the list view under the content panel, or a way to use another panel to view the details of multiple files at once with description included and be able to sort them that way?
These are the tabs that are displayed and the ones it gives me options for.
There are many improvements needed for Bridge and the default metadata workspace is certainly one of them. In fact, in its current state it is next to useless and no help at all. But you are right, it should provide you with at least the description field but it does not. Oddly enough, the only way to achieve this is using the bottom right icons in the Bridge window. You see three of them, thumbs, large thumb with list and small thumbs with list. Currently you have selected the default small thumbs with list, if you use the middle one (large thumbs with list) and fiddle around with the slider for the size of the thumbs the description field magically appears in view but you are not able to put it in a separate column.
So the find option is still your best option I'm afraid...
You can also try to create your own workspace. Start dragging the borders to change the size of the panels to your comfort so you have a good overview of the panels you want to have in view.
You can also change the order and place of panels in multiple rows but you are limited to max three columns. Place the cursor on a panel tab and start dragging it to a new location. A single blue line means either between a row or a column, a surrounded blue line means add as a tab in same location. You also can drag the tabs for your custom order.
Now with the content panel in reasonable size use the icon bottom right for large thumbs and list view and use the slider for correct position of the description field. Save it as a new workspace (important to retrieve it when messed up). You can also have multiple windows in Bridge (at least on a Mac, you seem to be on Windows) and use one for list view and another for find results. etc. etc. -
I've deleted Adobe Reader 11 and rebooted and reinstalled Adobe Reader 11 and I still get the error message that 'Adobe Reader is blocked because it is out of date'. Using Windows XP with the latest updates (SP3).
Screenshots attached to email replies will not make it back to the forum; you need to login to the forum and post it in your topic using the camera icon in the editor.
Google Chrome is a problem:
if you use Chrome's own PDF viewer, the results are unpredictable.
if you use the Adobe Reader plugin with Chrome, it may reject (block) it if it is not the latest version. Reader 11.0.08 is the latest version for Windows XP, but Chrome may insist on the current version 11.0.10.
My suggestion; use a different browser! -
Mail dissapears to side out of view??
all of a sudden with no changes i can remember other than changing the display options for the external monitor,
i open mail, it isn't there, so I press F9 and it comes up in expose, I click on it, and it zooms over to the left margin just out of view as if i had pressed F11 to clear the windows and get to the desktop.
what happened, i can't get at my mail now! how do I fix it?I would try resetting your monitor to the way it was before Mail went missing. At this point, move mail over to right by a few inches. Redo the monitor setting to your new setting and mail should now be visible.
Hope this is helpful.

Maxed Out Processor - Viewing Here, fans on.
Apple definitely changed this forum to something my MBP doesn't like any more.
This is a MacBookPro 09 - 13" - 10.06 08 - Proc - 2.53 / Core 2 Duo
I just posted a fix for a problem I was having - and my Processor went off the chart and fans came on.
When it settles down with no activity from me - all fine.
If I scroll the page - wham - the processor pegs to top of dual meter I have in corner of screen from activity monitor.
Wow - this is quite dramatic. I'm testing scroll right now - if I move the page 1/8" - processor goes 1/2 way - 50%.
Not sure if this is a Java or Adobe thing - I've always wanted a program to point out what the actual background process IS that tortures a machine.
I also have in next browser tabs, a forum I always use for motorcycle and there's no issue anywhere near this.
So this is the edge & end of life for this gear?Philscbx wrote:
I was referring to this page as I paused any typing - any only scrolling the page slightly.
The other web browser was actually on another window minimized out of view / misspoke as another tab.
It's not clear what you are testing here.
Have you got other tabs open? This page has no Flash so that really isn't in the equation for troubleshooting this page. Having tabs minimised does not make them stop processing on 10.6 IIRC. You have to close them to free the resources they use.
You need to isolate what you are aiming to test. Flash has a habit of hammering on Macs so there is little that can be done aside from finding versions that behave better. Adobe's installers should only allow you to install the supported version. The requirements list 10.6 for version 14 of Flash (you have to click link to see full requirements). It looks like you have the latest installed.

Have you got any Safari Extensions? If so…
Have you tested with them disabled?
Re-enable them one by one to see which one causes issues.
Have you considered using the Click to Flash extension in Safari? It stops Flash auto loading which can make sites with Flash adverts usable. Retest the sites that give you issues… once again posting the links will give us the ability to test what is normal for us. You will need to click Flash videos to play them with Click to Flash.

I just want some scan tool to do the process of what the heck is needed.
Sorry I don't think anything like that exists.
It may help to know what else you have installed. Do you use any add on's that tweak the OS? -
Objects out of alignment when published
Hi,
I;m having issues with alignment and have searched the forum bt not yet found a resolution.
Despite setting alignment in the Design view, the live view places some objects out of alignment.
See Kingsdown Holiday Homes - Self Catering Chalet Rental at Kingsdown Park, Kent | Home
and the boxes as part of the left hand column are out. However in the Dutch version, they are not.
thanks,
AndrewHi Michael,
Thanks for taking the time to look and reply. I've checked and there are no overlapping or stray boxes, but its something I'll keep an eye out for. I grouped all the column items together, but this doesn't prevent it from happening.
So this in Muse:
is this live:
unless I do this in Muse:

Thanks for taking a look,

Adusting Bridge Window Panel size/positions
How do I adjust the window panels in Bridge horizontally? It is easy to adjust the width of them vertically, but I cannot recall how to adjust them horizontally. I had to Reset Preferences and cannot seem to figure out how to "stack" the window panels. In other words, I might like to have two window panels, tabbed, in the upper left corner, and two more window panels, tabbed, in the lower left corner (underneath the others). If this is not clear I could send an email with a screen capture of my original layout before I had to Reset Preferences. Thanks!
Mark W.I just had the idea of switching the gpu (System Prefs - Energy Saver - Better Battery life or Better Performance). Changing from one to the other will force you to log out and back in. Now Bridge is working. I switched back and it's still working so maybe you just need to log out or restart.
No solution, but I'm having the same problem. Just updated to 4.0.4.1. I'm guessing there because I didn't check the number, but I ran the update a couple days ago and went to use Bridge today... I repaired permissions, installed another update today (4.0.4.2) and tried resetting Bridge (option key at start) and nothing has fixed it.

New file location in folders out of view
+posted by toniemae:+
+When I add a file to an existing or new folder, that file goes to the bottom of the folder out of view, and the folder has a very long scroll bar. That file can be dragged up next to other files near the top of the folder. Or the files in the folder can be rearranged by e.g. name, and all files in the folder are then in view. This problem is especially annoying when one file is added to a new folder, and the folder appears to be empty when opened, except that the huge scroll bar, if noticed, indicates presence of an out-of-sight file somewhere in the folder+.
my 2cents:
yes it true you can set view prefs. but, this is a behavior that did not always happen in 10.4. after installing 10.4.9 on a G5, added/copied or files/folders would appear normally next to any other existing icons. just recently my mac has started putting new files/folders at the bottom, beyond visible space in a window, adding a scroll bar. i think this is a poss. pref's corruption or something..this also happened on my G4 with 10.4.8
anyone find a solution?
(it def. drives me crazy)
thanks, bradYou are using 'icon view' for the folder. Use 'list view'.
