Objects: Rounded Corners on Rectangle

How to make just one side of the square object with rounded corners round. That is, say, the left side of the filled, rectangle IS square (top and bottom left corners) but the top and bottom right corners ARE round.
Stumped...

For future reference, you can "square up" any one corner (or more) of a rounded rectangle, as well as altering other shapes. Select the shape, then Format > Shape > Make Editable. You then should see some red dots representing the endpoints of the arc for each rounded corner (in this case). You can reposition them to your heart's content, even bulging them out beyone square for whatever effect. Incidentally, to get back to this mode later, first click to select the shape, then click again to edit it. (NOTE: Not the same as double-clicking, which puts you into text entry mode.)

  • Rounded corners + resize rectangle

How does one stop the rounded corners from degrading while resizing a rectangle with rounded corners?

An added benifit to usng Effect>ConvertToShape>RoundedRectangle is that you can change the Corner Radius at any time using the Appearance Panel.
If for some reason you have to have the rounded rectangel as a path and not as an  "effect" just select the rectangle and Expand Appearance.   You can go back and use the Effect>ConvertToShape>RoundedRectangle again if you want then back to Expand Appearance go back and forth as often as you like.
Just remember if you want the corners to expand - resize the "Expand Appearance" object
If you want the corners to keep the same radius - resize the "Effect>ConvertToShape>RoundedRectangle" object

  • Round corners in InDesing CS5

Hi, I have a rectangle that I need to have round corners specific radios. When I go to menu Object: Round corners and set radios to .25 in, nothing happens to my selected rectangle. It does remembers the setting when I go into it later, but doesn't show round corners. Is there something else I have to do.
Thank you very much for your help.

Have you selected the option on what type of corner you want it to have, rounded, beveled, inset etc.

  • Hi, I have been having problem in creating 'undistorted' multiple rounded cornered rectangles?

hi, I have been having problem in creating 'undistorted' multiple rounded cornered rectangles?  I have attached an image to show what i mean ( problem highlighted in blue). Any help would be really appreciated...

    Thanza,
If you wish to have proportionately growing sizes with the same rounding radius, you may:
    1) Start with a (non rounded) rectangle and Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform with the desired scaling and number of copies;
    2) Object>Expand Appearance;
    3) Effect>Stylize>Round Corners with the desired radius.

  • Box with rounded corners displays as rectangle in Web Browser

I am using the box control (IBoxObject) in my Crystal Reports with rounded corners. However the box displays as a rectangle with square corners when viewed in a web browser. I have tried this in IE 7.0.5730.13, Firefox 3.0.3 and Chrome 0.2.149.30 all give the same problem.
The interesting thing is that the boxes display correctly at design time and when exported to PDF, but they wonu2019t display correctly in IE/Firefox/Chrome. Here are the specific settings for the box:
                    CornerEllipseHieght = 375
                    CornerEllipseWidth = 375
                    Crystal Reports Version 10.5.3700.0
I have also attached an image to try and clarify the problem.
[Picture showing Box at design time, in a Web browser and when exported to PDF|http://i38.tinypic.com/10p6k1v.jpg]
Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

Thank you Ted, this was my take on the problem but it is good to have a confirmation.
There are CSS (HTML) solutions for creating boxes with rounded corners, such as [SpiffyBox|http://www.spiffybox.com/] and [CSS Rounded Box Generator|http://www.neuroticweb.com/recursos/css-rounded-box/index.php?idioma=en] and many more that can be found using [Google|http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cssboxeswithroundedcorners&btnG=Google+Search&meta=].
Do you know of any plans to support rounded corners in the future?
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to draw a rectangle with rounded corners?

    Hi,
I'm trying to draw a rectangle in a custom annotation and my appearance stream looks like:
    1 1 98 98 re 0.5 w 1 j 0 0 0 RG S
The re-operator draws the rectangle an the j-operator along with the parameter 1 sets the join style to round.
It does make the corners very slightly rounded, but it's only visible when setting the zoom level 200% and beyond.
Do any of you know how to make the corners more rounded for the rectangle?

    I thought so
So Cubic Bézier curves all the way.
Could you help me with it?

  • Problem with Rounded Corners on EPS object in Illustrator CS3

I'm using Illustrator CS3 and I have an EPS object which has rounded corners. When I export  the object and save it as a JPG the exported image takes on the shape of  the artboard (which is a square) rather than the shape of the EPS  object which is a square with rounded corners. I've placed the exported  JPG into my blog but when I look at it I can see a little bit of white  in each of the four corners. What can I do to stop this from happening?  In other words, I want my exported JPG image to have rounded corners  without the white. Please provide me  with as much detail as you can as I'm fairly new to Illustrator and I'm still finding my way. Thank you.

    Hi Graccon,
The JPG format does not support transaprency. Either save as a gif or as a png. Or choose a matte color which matches your page background for the jpg.

  • Round Corners on object in Live Paint Group

    Hello,
When I apply the Round Corners effect onto any one object in a Live Paint Group, it is applied onto the Group itself, thereby onto all objects in it instead of just the one I selected. Is there a way to apply the effect just onto the one object?
    Thanks in advance!

That allows me to apply Round Corners to the object I want, but I lose the advantages of the Live Paint Group (most importantly being able to move my original shapes around and have the resulting paintable areas update to my changes).
Another option I see is to apply Round Corners to the object and expand it before adding it to the Live Paint Group, but of course then I lose the ability to edit the effect.
I guess I'll have to go with one of those.

  • Rectangle Selection has rounded corners? I need sharp ones.

Seems silly, but I don't understand why the 'Rectangle Selection' marquee tool defaults to rounded corners.
I am obviously missing something very simple.  Thanks! 1-1-11

    FIXED!
I fixed this challenge by adjusting the 'feather' from 20 px to 1!
    Thanks all!    --Thomas

  • Why does Edge Animate convert circles and rounded corners into "classic" rectangles?

    Hello Community!
When creating animations with circles or rounded corners in it, I came across with something strange.
I published it as .oam-file for Adobe DPS and the circles and rounded corners where converted into rectangles.
    Does anybody know a solution?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hey broekt,
If you're using the Desktop Viewer ot preview your AN content, some stuff (such as rounded rectangles) isn't supported in their version of Webkit. For true rendering make sure to always test on your iPad

  • Making a photo with rounded corners

I just followed both of these instructions to create rounded
    corners on a rectangular image:
    http://www.enghiong.com/how-to-make-rounded-corner-edges-using-fireworks.html/
    http://www.joycejevans.com/tutorials/Fireworks/FWMX/roundecorners/rc_crn.htm
What am I missing? Both of them show the transparent canvas?
I drew the rectangle, rounded the corners, pasted inside and all
the other steps and saved it. When I use in my html file, the
    background shows!
Any help with this is so appreciated.

Here you go. It's usually a good idea to use a white rather
    than black
    object to paste inside of.

  • Round corners and transparent background

    Hello everyone
I have just started to use my new Photoshop CS5 and came across a problem. How do I make a marking with round corners and a want to have the background transparent to use on the web. We can't use the old way because it is grey in the menu. I hope you understand what I meen. Please help me with a easy way thank you.
    Hopefully waiting for help.
    Lotta

First Alt double click the "Backgound" layer in the layers panel to rename it. (A layer called Backgound will not support transparency.)
Then draw a Rounded Rectangle Path around your object with the Shape tool.
(Use the Paths option in the Options bar.)
You can also adjust the radius there.
Right-click outside the path and choose Make Selection.
Invert the selection – Ctrl+Shift+I – and press Delete.
Go to File > Save for Web and choose PNG-24 as a format and save.

  • Cropping round corners on my icon

This is related to helping me with a previous post. If I can complete this step I'm home and hosed.
I have made an icon for a webpage and I just watched a tutorial on saving for the web. I made this icon with the rounded corner rectangle tool. I have some masked objects in this icon so  there are invisible parts hanging out from the visible artwork, so It seems I can't slice because so far from what I have learned slicing doesn't do round corners and also, I can't use the normal crop tool. If I do, I'm going to have white square corner residue in my file.
I just read a Fireworks forum thread which shows how to crop round corners that talks about masking and then, to crop the visible part only use, Modify > Canvas > Trim Canvas, but I haven't got that option in Illustrator it seems.
Does anyone know how to do this in Illustrator?

It's ok. I solved my problem by simply exporting to Photoshop and the artboard turned transparent.
    Thanks

  • Round Corners Effect Can someone explain what's happening?

I just don't get what's going on here... I have this shape, a bent rectangle and I need it to have rounded corners. When I apply the effect Round Corners the shape is transformed to a completely diferent shape instead of just applying round corners on each corner. See image below. What am I doing wrong?

    Now you've done it!
What's happening well I would say it was not working, which means it is a bug.
However you can get it to work if you do it one of three ways.
Draw your rectangle then give it a round corner effect or convert it to a round corner rectangle
then give it either a warp effect or go to Object>Envelop Distort>Make with Warp and then expand.
You can expand the warp effect as well.
The third way is to make a round corner rectangle and either do the warp from the Object menu or do it as an effect.
Otherwise the explanation for the result you see is it is a bug. It shouldn't happen.
I think this might have been reported.

  • Scale rounded corners

I love that Photoshop CC has a way to modify rounded corners on rounded rectangles, but when I try to scale the rectangle with the transform tool, the rounded corners keep the same measurements rather than scale in proportion to the rectangle size. Is there an option that I'm overlooking here?

Just found that if you double click one of the little disks then select your shapes and click "Scale Rectangle Corners" in the "Transform" panel the live corners will scale with the shape...finally...
I have a creative cloud account because Adobe has assembled a huge suite of other programs but it is their bungled approach to the most basic vector editing features like this that keeps an old copy of CorelDrawX3 on my computer for serious vector editing and exporting to CAD instead of Illustrator...The "add/remove anchor point tools" are such a pain in illustrator compared to the Corel method of making the nodes/anchor points selectable so you can delete or fillet or chamfer them however you want without breaking the shape ...node editing/welding/trimming is much easier/faster in Corel and you can weld/trim/break/round/outline multiple vector objects AT ONCE...oh my...
