Objects to be transported from Windows platform to Unix platform

Hi experts
Our current development is on windows platform. and the production server will be on HP Unix platform.
I just wanted to know that is it possible to transport the webdynpro application and the portal contents.
Also wanted to know what all components need modification while transport.
Guide me the steps for the move.
regards
vija

Usually you shouldn´t have any issues transporting. Java bytecode is platform independent.
What CAN be an issue is the different endianess if you program yourself and assume, that the byte order is little endian - but if you stay on the webdynpro level you shouldn´t have any problems.

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents. If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.

Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?
Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

  • EXPORT from Windows IMPORT to UNIX

    Hi,
in 10gR2, is it possible to EXPORT from a database on Windows in order to IMPORT to a database on UNIX ? If yes any caution or recommandation ?
    Thanks before.

After 3000+ posts, you should be aware about the oracle doc site , http://tahiti.oracle.com and also that you should search over there first for the question.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/exp_imp.htm#sthref2124
The Export and Import utilities provide a simple way for you to transfer data objects between Oracle databases, even if they reside on platforms with different >hardware and software configurations.HTH

  • Migrating Oracle DB from OpenVMS to a Unix Platform

    Hello all;
Wanted to find out if you have experience or info on any tools that assist in migrating a 24X7 OracleDB from an OpenVMS to a Unix platform. We have looked into the basic export and import but since the environment is OLTP-downtime is a concern. The DB is about 2TB of raw data.
    Thank you

Something in writing from someone authorized by Oracle -- e.g. someone in Licence Sales -- would stand in a court of law.
Nevertheless, if you want "different inputs" from here :
Oracle licences by the number of cores.  Off hand, since the number of cores is different, the licence count is not the same.  However, Oracle also has "core scaling factors" (called Oracle Processor Core Factor Table) for different types of CPUs.  You should see the Software Investment Guide at http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/index.html and Oracle Database Licensing under Specialty Topics from the same URL.

  • Importing from Windows - Exporting to Unix

    Hello Guys,
I have this situation where the initial developement was done on a Windows box, but then the staging and production environments have been set up on unix servers.
Q1: Is it possible to migrate the mappings created on Dev (windows) effectively to unix without needing re-work?
Q2: What is the approach to go about this migration, if any?
Q3: Do the OWB versions matter while import/export?
Has anyone been through this problem before?
Any help will be appreciated... Just give me your piece of mind on this...!!

    Hi ,
You can do the following to export OWB metadata into mdl file .
    1. Login to OWB Client
    2. Goto Design
    3. Export
    4. Warehouse Builder Metadata
You can specify the file location details .
In order to Import OWB metadata from mdl file
    1. Login to OWB Client
    2. Goto Design
    3. Import
    4. Warehouse Builder Metadata
It will ask for the mdl file location details
    Thanks,

You should make sure though that
    - you will be using the same JSP/Servlet version in both places
    - you are not using components or code that relies on native elements. Like using the JdbcOdbcBridge driver is something to avoid.
    - you will have lots of time for testing.

  • Migrate Oracle 11g database from Windows To Linux using RMAN hot / cold  backup ?

    Hi Friends,
Is it possible to Migrate Oracle 11g database from Windows To Linux using RMAN hot / cold  backup ? ( as i would like to perform Point In Time recovery)
(or) The only way is to use RMAN convert as mentioned here  - Transporting Data Across Platforms
(or) Is there any other method (except exp/imp and data pump)
    Regards,
    DB

    HI
his post describes the procedure required to migrate a database from Windows to Linux using the RMAN Convert Database command.
Both Windows and Linux platforms have the same endian format, which makes possible to transfer the whole database, making the migration process very straightforward and simple.
To migrate between platforms that have a different endian format, Cross Platform Transportable Tablespaces (XTTS) needs to be used instead.
List of Steps Needed to Complete the Migration
The migration process is simple, but as it has several steps it is convenient to be familiar with them before running it.
    1. Check platform compatibility between source and target OS
    2. Start the database in read only mode
    3. Check database readiness for transport from Windows to Linux using DBMS_TDB.CHECK_DB
    4. Check if there are any external objects
    5. Execute the Rman Convert database command
    6. Copy converted datafiles, generated Transport Script and Parameter File to Linux
    7. Edit the init.ora for the new database
    8. Edit the Transport Script and Parameter File changing the windows paths to Linux Paths
    9. Execute the Transport Script
    10.Change the Database ID
    11.Check database integrity
    Thank you

  • How do i convert my Photoshop CS 4 version from Windows to Mac

How do i convert my Photoshop CS 4 version from Windows to Mac.

You are not likely to be able to convert your CS4 license/version from Windows to Mac.  Platform conversions are only supported for current releases, which would be CS6.  Creative Cloud subscriptions allow for either or both platforms to be supported.

  • Regarding checking the objects versions after transporting

    Hi
we are doing transportation from DEV to  QAS. what we have done is
we have collected all master data objects, data sorses, transformations, dtps, process chains into different transport recquests and releases the recquests ,and imported recq in QAS.
now our recq is to check whether all master data objects, data sorses, transformations, dtps, process chains are transported or not
if transported have to check all obj are in active version or not.
at present we are follwing below procedure
    a) go to se09 in DEV and select 1 recq and check the objects list under that recq then copy one obj and check in QAS,the same procedure for all objects, but we are having 100 recquests, under each recq we are having many objects.
if we follow that it wil take days,so is there any procedure to check
are there any tables where we can check fast and minimise the time.

am not sure about the object status however can get list of objects in your transports from below process :
Go to table E071 and give your request numbers as input. It will give you list of all the objects contained in those requests.
Now object will be of different types , IOBJ - Infoobjects , ODSO - ODS , MPRO - Multiprovider , TRFN - Transformation etc.

  • Copy CSV file from windows to linux

how to copy CSV file from windows to UNIX server?
    Thanks

how to copy CSV file from windows to UNIX server?Using scp (secure copy).
It is supported by Putty and ssh services are available by default on most (if not all) modern Unix servers.
Don't have a Windows machine close by, but I recall the scp command is supported by the Putty executable called "+pscp.exe+".
    The syntax is very simple:
    scp <from_destination> <to_destination>
example (pushing a file from Windows to Oracle Unix server)
scp c:\datafiles\accounts.csv [email protected]:/u01/files/accounts.csv This will prompt for a password.
You also can use ssh trusted certificates (RSA or DSA keys) to automate this. Using Putty you can generate a key pair that consists of a private key and public key.
You copy and paste the public key into the destination server's +$HOME/.ssh/authorized_keys+ file. This results the server in trusting that client and allows the client to connect (using ssh, scp and sftp) without having to supply a password (as the private part of the key serves as authentication). (I would however not use the oracle account for this, but a special scp-copy usage Unix account that does not support shell usage)
If you want to automate it the other way around - have the Unix server pull the file from the Windows client, then you need to install server software on that Windows machine to allow it to provide such a file copy service.
Again I suggest using ssh - OpenSSH is available for a variety of platforms, and Windows should be included. If not, there should be ssh service for Windows from Microsoft or another vendor that can be used.
Any other method than ssh will be either insecure or problematic. FTP is insecure as usernames and passwords are transmitted in clear text. Using Windows File Sharing requires Samba to be loaded and configured on the Unix server - and this is extra work installing and configuring and testing s/w that uses a low level security, that is also proprietary and could required setting on the Windows client also to make it work in a somewhat robust fashion.
The standard today is ssh. It is robust and secure. And it makes a lot of sense to use it.. and pretty good motivation for not using it ifo something else.

  • File Upload Performance using IE from Windows to Unix via HTTPS

    Hi,
Is there any performance issue uploading a file
using IE from Windows client to UNIX server via HTTPS?
Before that, we were using HTTP protocol and everything run smooth
Once we change to HTTPS, we might hit the "HTTP 500 Internal server error"
Even though this does not happen all the time but still, it affect the overall performance of our system
We'd tested other browsers such as Netscape, Firefox, Opera and we don't hit any problem with them
Is there any way to improve the performance?
Is there any site i can refer to? cause i need some explaination on how this could be happen
