Obscure problem with File/Folder sharing

I have a problem sharing files between one PC and several others. A while back I changed hostnames for several of my PCs. The problem computer never updated the hostnames - it reports the old hostnames under View Details and Alerts. It's communicating, after a fashion - I can share a folder and it shows up in the other computers, but if I try to open it they report either that the network object can't be found or that permissions are insufficient.
I tried shutting down each PC, then removing it from the Map on the problem computer, then starting it back up and adding it back on the problem computer - but the old host names are retained, still. How can I correct this problem?

There doesn't seem to be any actual support for Network Magic at the "Support" link - just a bunch of generic FAQs and links to this Forum. I was under the impression that some actual support people hung out here and might be able to research an actual question. I'm having what seems to be a "bug" where the hostname won't update, and I thought A) that someone in product development would care, and B) there might be a way to get it to refresh its information.

Problem with File/Internet Sharing
Could someone help me with an Airport problem?
I have two Minis: one in the study for general use(PPC, 10.4.9) and one in the kitchen(intel, 10.4.9) for music. So, I thought I’d try and connect them using Airport, but by just using the two computers, ie without a base station/router.
In the sharing panel of System Preferences, I gave the study computer the name “Study”, and the kitchen one the name “Music”. I ticked Personal File Sharing, Personal Web Sharing and Printer Sharing on each computer in the Services and Firewall panels. For “Study”(the Gateway computer) I turned on Internet Sharing using External Modem to computers using Airport. In the menubar, the Airport symbol for “Study” has an arrow in it, and on “Music” it’s the normal symbol.
The following is common to both computers. Clicking on Network in the Sidebar opens a window showing two aliases: Library(which double clicks as broken) and Servers. According to David Pogue’s Tiger OSX Missing Manual, there should be a “My Network” folder.
The Servers alias leads to an alias “The Study”.local or “Music”.local. This opens to the Macintosh HD window of the relevant computer, showing the usual folders. Opening “Users” shows the Home Account folder for that computer and “Music” or ”Study” and Shared.
Opening “Music” or “Study” shows folder icons for the Home Account of the other computer, ie Desktop, Documents, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public and Sites.
The only folders that I can open are Public and Sites. I don’t have the required “privileges” to open the others. In Public is Drop Box, which again I can’t open. If I put a file into the Public folder, it’s not visible on the other computer.
If I connect “Study” to the internet, and open Safari on “Music”, I get a not connected to the internet message.
So, The simple(!!!) question is: what haven’t I done to make it all work.
Answers in words of one syllable pleaseIt sounds like you are using a non-admin account to log into the remote Mac. To see all the folders you can log in using an admin account or use SharePoints to make other folders visible.

Problems with file/print sharing between macs
I just recently created a network between my mac pro and my imac. I discovered that the only way that I could share files/printers between the two is if I shut off the firewall on both machines. If I let the firewall 'allow only essential services ie, file and printer sharing, the machines would see each other and the printers, but would not allow either to connect. Any suggestions?

The firewall has always been disabled, since I baught my iBook.
There's two issues, the irc app and the videocam app.
Guess the videoapp is an easier issue. The port is 2000-2002
The irc application is I think a little more complicated, it has two settings in the prefs file (the app is IRCLE):
1. In the DCC prefs I flagged the "ADSL, Airport, IPNetRouter and have flagged the auto configure for the Public IP Number (151.51.138.131).
2. There is also a Firewall prefs. I haven't done anything with this. There's an areal called "Ident Settings (OS X only)". There one can flag the "Run Ident on a different port than the usual 113" If one flags that, then you can choose the port (it says it must to be 1024 or greater). "Note: you may need to change your firewall rules to make ident work this way, redirect incoming ident data for TCP port 133 to the port set above"
Does this make any sense?

Problem with file permissions using Snow Lepord
I'm having problems with file Sharing & Permissions using Snow Lepord.
When I save any new file it only has 'Read & Write' privileges for the user, everyone else is 'read only' or 'no access'.
We have a Netgear NAS Server which is accessed by other users over the local network and if I change the Privilege to 'read & write' via Get Info and then copy the file from my desktop to ther server it changes the Privilege of the server version to 'no access' we then have to change it again for it to work.
I also created a new folder on the server and now it says 'no access' and has a no entry icon!
Any ideas???We have issues like this. Have tried running AFP and SMB, now connecting using CIFS. All have the same problem. I can work on one or two files fine, then suddenly, one of the files I just worked on says I don't have permissions. I log off the server and log back on, and then I have permissions to the file. It will work fine for one or two operations, then fails. We just updated to OSX Mavericks and a Windows 2012 server, but have been having this issue for years. My permissions look fine. I can even change permissions, but it won't let me work on the file or move or delete the file or rename the file. Once I log out and log back in, I can do anything I want.

Problem with "watch folder" and Windows 7
I have just switched to Windows 7 and Elements 9 - so far things are working quite well, but I am having a problem with "Watch folder" It is watching my odf folder "My Pictures" but all my new photos are going into Libraries/Pictures and PSE9 won't let me add that to the watch folder section. I am afraid that if I ask PSE9 to Get Photos and Videos / From Files and folders I may get a whole buch of duplicates in my Organizer.
Any help would be appreciated.Thank you - I followed your directions

Problem with File Based replication in Weblogic Express 10
Hi,
We have Web application (exploded war) file deployed on Weblogic Express 10, to a Cluster of three Managed Servers (all three on different physical machines).
We are using File based session persistance in weblogic.xml
We have a shared location for all the three servers where we will be sharing the Session data.
When we start the application, its works fine and is very fast, but after sometime the application slows down.
Troubleshooting the Issue we found that its a problem with file based replication. By using File based replication every user session is stored in form of directory inside shared directory. So after sometime thousands of directories are created inside the shared directory where the session information is stored. So when we access the application, its waiting for lot of time with Message Session Monitor .... (this is because its browsing through the shared session storage directory for lot of time for session information as it has lot of directories) and finally after a long time like 10 mins we get the Application Home Page.
When we clean up all the saved sessions inside shared directory, the application works fine, But we will see the same sometime later may be after 3 or 4 hours when the shared session directory has lot of session information stored in it.
Is there a way to clean up the saved session information on file system as soon as that user session is closed by using file based replication.
We cannot used Inmemory replication as our Appl doesnt support it.
Please advice as it is a major show stopper in our Production Mirror env.
Weblogic ConsultantIt is possible to reduce number of live session by configuring very low timeout-secs weblogic.xml. Default is 60 minutes.

chaiman 22If you restored the account to which the FileVault protected Home folder belonged, then you need to log into that account and enable FileVault.
If you just need access to the data in the FV protected Home folder, then locate the sparsebundle disc image file that contains the encrypted folder. Double-click on it as if to mount it. You will then need to enter the FV password associated with the account to gain access (this is NOT the admin nor login password.) -

We r facing typical problem with file adapter.
Lets say there are 30 files to be processed by placing an copy in arichive folder by file adapter based on pooling
parameters.
All the 30 files are picked up and we can see the copies in archive folder.
But when we go to RWB and check the audit log,
there we could see only 25 files , the 5 files are missing.
no trace found therre about the 5 files.
This is happening only some times and not to all the files placed in the FTP. Later when the same file is placed back from the Archive folder to the Source folder, the file is being picked and processed succesfully.
unfortunately this is happening on Production server
Any pointers which could trouble shoot this issue.

Couple of thing which you can try....
1. Use EOIO QoS and check if you still face the issue.
Is some program or application writing files to the directory? If yes I would recommend the use of a temporary name to write the files and then rename them.
Sometimes when an external application connects via FTP and transfers the files...
The file could be picked up by the adapter poll even before the transfer of data is done.
Which is why you will find that the file is archived but there is no xml message created for the same in the Integration engine.
Try increasing the poll interval. This helps sometimes.

Problem with file access in other computer in jsp
I have problem with file accessing in other computer in jsp.

but it works well in main funtion.
Is anybody know what is the problem.
JSP works on windows2003 server,tomcat 5.0.28 JDK1.4 net share folder on windows2000 serverno error code for this.But when I start tomcat I get the follow error.

Problem with file path in linux
hi,
i have problem with file path accessing in linux. my java class is accessing a abc.cvs file and and getting all data. it is working fine in windows xp. but i run this same file in linux it does not access the abc.cvs file and does not get any data.
my project structure
Search
abc.cvs
search.SearchMain
i am sccessing this cvs file in this SearchMain class by this way file name = "abc.cvs"
It is working fine with window but problem with linux.
when i place this abc.cvs in a folder as "./data/abc.cvs" also working fine with windows but not in linux.
I am new for linux.
Please give me solution.

Mac OS 10.7.4, updating new version Microsoft Office 14.2.7, ERROR "The Installer can’t open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions."
The Apple Installer version is Version 5.0.1 (537).
When I check the Installer Log, I find only these two messages that I do not understand.

I had identical Installer Log failure notices: I used Houdini to view the invisible files and per Limnos' suggestion cautiously dragged
user > library > preferences > com.apple.installer.plist out of that folder onto my desktop and double-clicked on the .pkg file again and it opened and installed properly.
My Installer now works properly on all .pkg files. -
What's problem with File Panel?

I'm web designer, while developing my site, my work is
breaking a problem with File management of DMX.
First, I develop site in DMX8 (ASP + SQL), then when I open
that site in DMXCS3 - Note: all file still in only one Folder in
HDD on (D\: Drive), (example: photo-editor.asp), this file content
is last time modify. And when I open again this file in DMX8 - the
file content of this file (photo-editor.asp) not same with new
version in DMXCS3. It is old version!.
I don't understand why that. (note: I don't check Enable
cache in Local info in Site Definition). Please help me about this
problem!
