Obtaining current assignee of a process instance

Is there an API call that will tell me whether a process instance is currently assigned to a participant? I've tried using ProcessInstance.participant but this returns the 'active' participant, which, if called from an automatic activity returns "Automatic Handler." Clearly not the actual assignee.
A call that returns a simple boolean would be great. A call that returns the assignee's Participant object would be even better.
Thanks for any help.

I am copying a piece of studio docs.
this is the documentation for "participant.sticky" property
If set to true, the participant.next is set as the preferred participant. Each time the instance moves to an activity and the participant.next is enabled to work with it (belongs to the role where the activity is), the instance is submitted to the participant.next work queue. In the Split and SplitN activities, all generated copies maintain the participant.sticky value from the original instance. In the SplitN method you can change its value. Note: if the participant.next is changed during the process, be sure that participant.sticky is reset unless the new participant.next is considered the preferred participant.
and this is for "participant.next"
The participant to which the instance will be sent next. Note: If the instance is grabbed, the participant.next is cleared. If the instance is sent BACK or SKIP from an Exception flow or from an Interruption, the only way to reset the participant.next is using the Unselect method from the Participant component. See Participant component documentation for further information.

  • How to Obtain taskId of a particular process instance

    Hi All
    I have a requirement to receive input & feed the received input for approval (through human task). I would like to bypass the login aspect for the human task & directly display the particular instances task details. I don't want to display all the pending tasks (in a worklist fashion).
    My flow will be as follows:
    Person A initiates the process & feeds input.
    The next task is a human task.
    Person A/Person B should see the input fed by person A in the human task for this current instance.
    Is there a way to pass instance id or task id across the entire workflow? Based on task id, I can display the payload form directly for human task.
    Thanks

  • Show information for BPM process instances to possible future assignees

    Hi all,
    My environment is 11.1.1.4.
    I want to develop an ADF application that shows users information for BPM process instances which will possibly produce a user task assigned to them in the future.
    What I have done is
    1. Get BPMAppRole from the user name.
    2. Get the list of CompositeInstance with STATE_RUNNING from the BPM process name obtained from the BPMAppRole.getName().
    From the list of CompositeInstance, I have to extract the instances that will possibly produce a user task assigned to the user in the future.
    But I have no idea how to do this.
    Maybe my current approach is totally incorrect.
    Please help!
    Regards,
    Kenji

    Hi,
    By chance I found a method that you can use:
    oracle.bpel.services.workflow.query.model.TaskSequence getTaskSequence(oracle.bpel.services.workflow.verification.IWorkflowContext p1, oracle.bpel.services.workflow.task.model.Task p2, java.util.List p3, java.util.List p4, java.util.List p5, boolean p6) { }
    getTaskSequence might help you. This is under ITaskQueryService interface.

  • BPEL process instances remain in-flight

    Hi
    I've got a BPEL process (GetUpdates) that calls a couple of other asynchronous BPEL processes (CommitPerson, CommitAddress etc) all of which are deployed on the same SOA server.
    Although most of the processes complete, quite a few instances of the GetUpdates process just sit in an Active state. The BPEL console shows GetUpdates has made a call to another process (for example CommitAddress) and it is apparently waiting for a response. However when I examine the cube_instance table in the dehydration store I can only find 1 instance relating to the particular process. Is that correct?
    If I then try to re-run these particular failed updates (by modifying the sequencing table that GetUpdates polls) the processes complete without any issue (and records exist in the cube_instance table for each of the processes that have been called as well).
    There can be a large number of requests being processed so could this problem be due to the server being under too much load, with the invoke being lost in the ether somewhere?!?
    Is there any documentation that explains the workings of the dehydration store or the BPEL server itself? Also what log files I should be looking at? (I'd really like to understand what's happening under the covers!!!)
    We're currently only using 10.1.3.1 SOA Suite so we should probably upgrade to 10.1.3.3 to see if that fixes anything.
    Any help or advice in the meantime would be great.
    Thanks
    Robin

    Hi
    Just thought I'd update this posting with my findings ....
    I think that the reason the instances remained inflight was simply because they were making calls to synchronous processes that were timing out.
    The default timeout setting for synchronous processes is from what I've read 45 seconds. The process instances that remained inflight were calling other (asynchronous) BPEL processes, that in turn called synchronous E-Business suite APIs that were timing out.
    I managed to simulate the above some time ago with dummy BPEL processes, however I have only just now (after several months of dealing with Oracle Support!) managed to resolve the E-Business suite problem that was causing the synchronous process to timeout.
    Anyway now that is resolved, we no longer get the large number of process instances remaining inflight ... and the updates are now flying along on the server!!
    Therefore the issue was a very simple one - timeout of synchronous processes. Unfortunately it wasn't all that obvious that it was happening in the first place(!) ... and it took some time to trace the actual culprit ... and even longer to find a solution (which we had to come up with ourselves ... without much help from support!) ... hence the amount of time that has passed from me creating this message and replying to it!
    Anyway I hope this post may help others in case they stumble upon a similar issue.

  • One or more ports used by the Compute Emulator are currently used by other processes

    Environment:
    VS 2012 Professional
    Azure SDK October 2012
    Windows 8
    I lost the last few days of my life struggling with a weird issue in the emulator. I just ran out of options and I would really appreciate if someone could help me figure out what's wrong.
    I am trying to debug a service package from Visual Studio 2012. It's really just about any package -- even the ones generated from a Windows Azure Cloud Service VS template. Any. The VS debugger starts, and in parallel there's "Starting the Windows Azure Debugging
    Environment" dialog which shows "Deploying service package to the Windows Azure compute emulator..." message.
    The progress bar shown in the dialog gets stuck for a long time (possibly even for an hour or longer!) at some 60% and then the following error message is shown:
    "One or more ports used by the Compute Emulator are currently used by other processes. To resolve this, please see MSDN documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh472164.aspx"
    There doesn't seem to be anything else listening on the ports mentioned on the above MSDN page. I did nevertheless try to re-map devfabric and agent ports by specifying different values in the .config files mentioned on the page, but that did not help.
    What I also tried and did not help:
    - reinstalled SDK, IIS Express, Local DB
    - reinstalled VS 2012 (yes, I got that desperate)
    - tried using IIS instead
    - used SysInternals TcpView to check if there are any conflicts
    - rebooted the machine: the deployment works initially (*once*), and the subsequent deployments fail (!)
    - tried to kill all Azure-related processes in memory and restart debugging
    - tried looking into log files under the user directory (dftmp\...); no errors in *any* log
    - tried looking into Event Viewer logs (Azure-related and in general); no errors either
    Since the conflict seems to be related to my current network settings, below is my IP
    configuration. I am behind a router and I have DHCP activated, but again that should not matter since none of that has changed in the last few years (and the emulator did work until few days ago).

    Hi,
    Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
    What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
    What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
    some port while in reality there isn't.
    I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.

    Could you please help me? I have search through the forum but I couldn't find anything that solves my problem. As I've read in this post (https://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=10596716), I've tried to set the value of the variable bpel.config.transaction to requiresNew instead of required but it isn't working.
    I suppose it has to do with the new version of the server but I can't find anything to solve it :(
    Thank you in advance!!! I hope you can help me!
    Best regards.

    Frank,
    I tried to follow the example. This is the file: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_53/labs/restsolution.zip
    The other part of the exercise is to develop an ADF Client.
    At "Step 5: Create the Model Components" when I create the URL_Get the error appears and don't create the datacontrol.
    I check the links and RESTConn and are OK.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to solve the take was stuck in a process instance

    Hi ,guys
      Now i came cross a problem .a task was  stuck in a process instance.the task'state is inactive and the process is onging.When I searched  the task in NWA and resumed it .It casted exception  like below:
       It seems like cluster problem .When I change the URL by adding the parameter ?sap-nodeid=65045051 .It didn't work. There is always cache in IE.
    Finally  we tried to restart the server. the task become normal .But  you know it is not a  ultimate  solution in PRD,we can't restart the server  in anytime.
    Is  there anybody helping me solve the problem.Many thanks.
    The error is :
    'Resume' action on Task instance in 'Manage Tasks' monitor has failed as that Task does not exist :: Task [de1f6f79e70c11e4a9780000014e097a] is currently locked

  • Getting Process Instance Information and Task Properties in a process

    Iam using WebLogic8.1 Integration BPM feature. I've designed a Worklist based application.
    In the business process, i've to call a java class method from the business process

    You can get the task infromation by calling the task control method TeskInfo getTaskInfo()

  • Initiating BPM Process Instances from External Web Service Call

    I'm attempting to update the HelloWorld example so that I can create an instance of the process from an External Web Services Call rather than via the Workspace. Our current SOA Architecture is configured so that all BPM instances are managed through a .NET SmartClient via the Service Bus and the use of PAPI W/S and so I'm wishing to recreate this capability in the new BPM.
    I understand the replacement for PAPI W/S is Human Workflow so I've therefore updated and republished the HelloWorld Example with an Exposed 'TaskService' Service for the Human Task within the BPM Process.
    I've then attempted to reference the TaskService through our existing BPM, and have been able to import a number of generic WSDL's as follows:
    Task Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskService/TaskServicePort?WSDL
    Task Metadata Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskMetadataService/TaskMetadataServicePort?WSDL
    Task Query Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskQueryService/TaskQueryService?WSDL
    When I examine the available operations for these generic services, there are quite a lot, each of which have a fairly complex schema. I believe I should be using the TaskService: InitiateTask Operation to create an instance of my BPM Process but my questions are:
    - Is the above the correct method of interacting with BPM Instances from an external system such as the Service Bus?
    - Does anyone have any examples of a basic XML payload that would initiate a process instance?

    I created an process with a message start event and can call it from an external web service call. I can also pass input arguments and map those to process data objects. However I can not find how to return data as response to the external web service call as e.g. the process instance id.
    Is it possible to this?

  • GP :How to get only those WorkItems for a particular Process Instance ID

    Hi,
    I have to get only those work items for a particular Process Instance ID.
    Currently I am able to get all gp workitems of a status, for a user.
    IGPUserContext userContext = GPContextFactory.getContextManager().createUserContext(epUser1);
                   IGPWorkItem[] openItems = rtm.getWorkItems(GPWorkItemStatus.WORKITEM_STATUS_OPEN, userContext);
    Now I want to get the gp  work items for a particualr process instance ID. Is it possible?
    Please help me.

  • Fetching process details using process instance id

    Hi,
    I have process instance ids captured in a CE table and I am looking to include a feature in existing UI5 application to use the process instance id and fetch it' s corresponding process details like history, context data etc., back to UI.
    Any helpfull doc/ ideas on how to implement this will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vipin.

    Hi Jun,
    I didn' t get a chance to try on process histroy however with the responses seen here looks like it is not possible.
    Currently I am able to get the task details like the claimed user, list of potential users yet to claim the task etc., which is still usefull in my case.

  • How to pass process instance id to callable object?

    Hello,
    using the SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EhP 1 SP 2 I have modeled a small approval workflow with Guided Procedures.
    At runtime, I want to pass the id of the running process instance to a callable object (WD4VC composite view). Is this possible and how?
    Alternatively, is there any way to fetch the id of the current process instance from withina WD4VC composite view?
    Kind regards
    Alexander

    Hi,
    I hope you have executionContext in callable object.
    You can get the ProcessID by calling function "executionContext.getProcessId()".

  • Get the process instance ID

    Hey,
    I've build a Process DC with subprocesses. I would like to retrieve my process instance ID, this way, when I am in a subprocess, I could still put a link to the diagram of the main process !
    Does anyone have any idea how to obtain it ?
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Lynne,
    another question. Did you get the funtion "sendNotification()" running? At line push.pushSharedItem(procon, item, users); I get the error "null null"
    I already checked objects and they seems to be created correct. Might there be any attribute wrong due to the fact that this example is originally for CE 7.0?

  • Synchronizing on Process Instance Object

    Hi,
    We have a process web service, which is used to create, notify and update BPM process instances.
    This process web service is accessed from Java code.
    The java code uses a re-try mechanism to talk to the process web service.
    We want this to be changed using wait-notify. But we have only the string value for Process Instance ID.
    Can anybody help me on how could we get the BPM process instance object with the Process Instance ID?
    I hope for this case we should synchronize on the BPM process Instance Object.
    Please find below the current code snippet with re-try which needs to be changed as wait-notify.
    for(int i = retryCount; i >= 0; i--) {
    try {
    sResult = wsClient.notifyUpdate(oEvent, oTG, sInstId);
    break;
    catch(Exception e) {
    if(i == 0) {
    throw e;
    logger.error(getClass().getName() + " - Failed to call wsClient.notifyUpdate()");
    try {
    logger.info(getClass().getName() + " - Retrying bpmUpdateProcessInstance ... " + (retryCount - i + 1) + " times in "
    + (System.currentTimeMillis() - startTimeMillis) + " millis.");
    Thread.sleep(retryInterval);
    catch(InterruptedException ignore) {
         //silent catch is fine here
    }// end for loop

    Hi,
    Please correct me if I miss-understood your question.
    You want to know the process instance Id of a particular BPM process ?
    You want to do it through java code or in BPM process layer ?
    Which version of OBPM/ALBPM you are using ?

  • OBPM Studio 10g R3: Create new process instance via PAPI

    Hi folks,
    I used JDeveloper to generate Java stubs off the PAPI WSDL. This works great and I'm able to list Processes similar to the bundled JAX-WS example just fine. Now I'd like to take it to the next level and create a process instance. I really appreciate your guidance on how to do that.
    Currently my process has a Global Creation Activity (screenflow) and the BeginIn mapping goes to an Automatic Activity.
    Questions:
    1) Is it possible to create a process instance in my case given that I have a Global Creation Activity ? Or if not, what changes do I need to make?
    2) Does anyone have any Java code examples for invoking the PAPI process instance creation code?
    In my case, I found a method in the stub that accepts three parameters - the process Id (String), an "ArgumentSetBean name (String), and an ArgumentBean, but I'm not sure what to fill in. :-)
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi,
    See if this helps -->

         public PAPIExample() {}
         public static void main(String[] args) throws OperationException, BatchOperationException {
              FuegoService fuegoServ = new FuegoService();
              ProcessServiceSession fuegoSession = fuegoServ.createSessionWithUsernameAndPassword("papi", "password");
              String processName = "/TestPAPI";
              Arguments arguments = Arguments.create();
              arguments.putArgument("argName", "GuessWhoIsHere");
              // First Way
              fuegoSession.processCreateInstance(processName, "In", arguments);
              // Second Way
              String globalActivity = "GlobalCreation";
              InstanceInfo instInfo = fuegoSession.activityExecuteApplication(globalActivity, processName, arguments);
              instInfo = fuegoSession.instanceRefresh(instInfo);
              fuegoSession.close();
