OC Crashed (I Think)

So this is what's happened so far: I took an old Blackberry Pearl 8220 flip phone with no battery and ordered a battery for it online. When it arrived and I put it in, the same thing happens. It powers on momentarily, displays an analog clock icon for a few seconds, then powers down. I did some research and was told I need to replace the OS. So I download Blackberry Desktop Software and the application loader wizard. I run the loader wizard and it connects to this port: http://i.imgur.com/lKehP.png and once I click "Next", the following screen displays this message: http://i.imgur.com/X5z6T.png so I kept trying and now the loader wizard won't even detect a communication port. Is there any way to fix this? If the phone is comnpletely hopeless, I'd like to know so I can cast it into the depths of my garbage can and move on with my life. Much appreciated to hear anyone's feed back.

Hi RyanSmithN,
Welcome to the Support Community!
The second screen you are seeing in Application Loader is because the BlackBerry® Device Software for your BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8220 smartphone needs to be downloaded and installed on your computer.
Once it has been installed on your computer, the Application Loader will be able to see it and install it on your BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8220 smartphone.
You can download the BlackBerry® Device Software from your wireless service provider's download site in the following list. http://bbry.lv/ad7CII
The following KB article also provides further instructions to reload your BlackBerry® Device Software. "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows"  http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
Hope this helps.

  • Constant crashing; I think Mozilla on my new Windows 7 thinks it's still operating in XP, although I'm not sure, being computer challenged.

Ever since I started using Mozilla Firefox on my new Windows 7 computer it has crashed -- sometimes a few times a day, sometimes every ten minutes. I will copy the error message details at the end of this, if I can. I have tried numerous technicians and no one has been able to solve it. (I did reset Firefox more than once.) Just today, right clicking on the Firefox icon and going to compatability, I discovered that "Windows XP" was in the window instead of Windows 7. With the help of a Frontier technician (my internet provider) I changed that from Windows XP to Windows 7. We rebooted the computer, hoisted up Firefox, right-clicked on the icon, and sure enough it said "Windows 7" in the compatability window. However, after a short while Firefox crashed again. Right-clicking on the Firefox icon, I saw that it had reverted to "Windows XP" in the compatability window. Questions: Would Firefox's confusion about whether it was on a Windows XP or a Windows 7 computer cause crashes? Why would Firefox's compatability window revert from Windows 7 back to Windows XP? I have a theory, but I am not an expert: A local technician came in and transferred my Firefox from my WIndows XP computer to my WIndows 7 computer. I don't know whether he installed Firefox from your website or simply transferred the program from my XP computer. However, I asked him to keep my bookmarks. I have an icon on my Windows 7 computer: "Old Firefox Files." I thought that these files (there are four of them, all containing pretty much the same thing) were just my bookmarks, but looking at them today, it looks to me as if they contain the whole Firefox program from my XP computer. My inexpert theory: Firefox is reverting from WIndows 7 to Windows XP because my transferred bookmarks are XP-based. A Frontier technician today suggested I uninstall and re-install Firefox. Sounds like a good idea to me, however I am afraid that my old bookmarks will again confuse Firefox about whether it's in an XP or Windows 7 OS. Bookmarks are essential to the way I use my computer. In fact, many technicians suggested that I use Chrome instead of Firefox, but Chrome does not have an easily accessed bookmark list, like Firefox does in its vertical bookmark window. (Also, I would rather not have anything to do with Google.) Of course, I may be completely wrong about it being my bookmarks and the files transferred from my XP that are screwing up Firefox. Basically: Constant crashes and error messages; compatability window reverts from Windows 7 to Windows XP for some reason; bookmarks and other old Firefox program files have been put on this Windows 7 computer. What do you think I should do to keep Firefox from crashing?
Here (hopefully) is the error message I get when Firefox crashes. It crashes no matter what website I am on at the moment:

Your whole bookmarks story is very confusing to me. Perhaps someone else can explain that better. :)

  • Hard Drive Crashed - It thinks i am on someone elses computer

My hard drive crashed and i had to redo my hardrive and reload the itunes software. Once i did this i tried to sync my ipod up. It only allows me to load music from my ipod to itunes that i have purchased - which is fine. However i purchased a song and it will load to my itunes but not sync to my ipod. It's like it thinks i am on someone elses computer. How can i make the ipod and itunes recognise that this is my only computer. I can not disengage the old machine as it is fried and gone? I need to make this itunes know that this is my one and only itunes????

You will need to authorize the computer again.
    See: Authorization and Deauthorization.
iTunes and the iPod are treating your newly reformatted hard drive as a new computer.

  • Lion Solved iMac Crashing -- I think it might have been samba!

In case this ends up being useful to anyone else, I just thought I'd share this experience...
I bought an iMac last summer (2010) to use at work (after a long battle to get permission to do so -- my employer is a Windows-only place).
I had a strange problem where the iMac would freeze up after being left on for 2-3 days straight.
I went through multiple rounds with AppleCare reps, all of whom were incredibly patient and valiant in their efforts to help be debug the problem. We checked to see if there was bad RAM, we did a clean install of the OS, etc, but nothing we could think of would solve the problem or seemed to be the source of the problem. And given that it took several days for the crash to take place, it was really hard to troubleshoot (and also really looked like bad RAM -- one rep was sure that's what it was, and I can't blame him). I was frankly blown away by how persistent and patient the AppleCare folks were.
Throughout this process, I had a sneaking suspicion that the culprit somehow involved Active Directory, or DFS, or something along those lines (that is -- my connection to my employer's Windows-based network).
After installing Lion, I'm inclined to think that's exactly what it was. Since installing Lion I have had no crashes, and the Windows network folders are much more stable and faster.
    Yay Lion!
And even though AppleCare couldn't solve the problem (really, there's no way they could have), I still say yay AppleCare for their awesome efforts!

With Firmware updates, Apple will usually offer instructions to complete the update, since they require an additional step to complete. It sounds like you haven't finished the Firmware update completely.
Since it's your computer and investment, I wouldn't risk it and would visit your local Apple Store and let them solve the problem. In the meantime, read this link from Apple:

  • My laptop crashes - i think it's the power cord but i'm not for sure

I have a 2 year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop model # A205-S4707.  I bought it brand new in 2008, but I just recently started having this problem.  I at first thought it was a problem with the video card because what will happen is the video freezes up and will show different color lines or a black or blue box.  I thought the window air conditioning unit by my desk being on may have something to do with it because I started noticing the issue at the beginning of summer when I started using the window AC.  The problem would normally happen when it would be loading my programs when I first turn it on, but now it crashes 30 minutes to an hour or maybe 2 hours after I turned it on.  I than thought it might be my power cord since there's a couple places in my power cord where the inner wire is exposed,  so I taped the areas and plugged it back in and it still crashes, but not as much as it used to.  The other day it wanted to crash every time I tried to start my laptop up, and since it would just crash after 2 hours of it being on. And this morning it wanted to crash while loading windows twice when I had it plugged in, but when I unplugged it it's working fine.  Something tells me it's the power cord causing the issue - anyone else have any experience with this issue? If so, how can this issue be resolved? I can't go on depending on battery usage because I like leaving my laptop on when I'm asleep (I have it turned off when I'm at work - so it's on probably 15 hours a day).  If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. My OS is Windows Vista.
    THanks,
    Mike

I have an 18-month P305 series Satellite and for a while (approximately 8-9 months ago) I couldn't figure out why my laptop would all of a sudden shut down while everything was working fine, or sometimes it even shut off when I press the power button to turn it on. My laptop was also acting pretty wierd with the Illumination Buttons, they wouldn't respond and froze, wouldn't light up after the computer has turned on and sometimes it won't turn off if the computer's been completely shut down, yes, the lights still stay lit afterward.
Just last week, when I was moving my laptop around to adjust for comfort, the thing shuts down on me again, this time I realized that the ac light had a 'quick' flick and this tells me that there is something wrong with power supply, either DC jack or the cord by the plug. I usually disconnect the battery when I have it plugged in to preserve the life of the cells. So when every time this thing becomes loose, the laptop would shut off. I was actually blaming the problem with bad BIOS and and maybe faulty updated drivers. The other day, I held the wire (by the socket and the fuse) and kind of twist and turn it and sure enough, I lost power, and the ac light flickered. I knew right away that was the problem. I found an identical original OEM power supply on ebay for $15 shipped, received it today and all is well. All this time, the culprit was the power cord.
My advice is to take the battery out and run the power from the AC cord, wiggle and turn the 'wire' slightly by the dc jack, also, test the plug to the DC connecter; hold the barrel (the plug socket to the computer) and wiggle it, if it doesn't shut off then it's the wire and you need a new power supply. Make sure you buy one that is of high quality. I recommend OEM for safety reasons.

  • X crashes (I think)

Hi, I have some problem with my arch, the thing is that it is freezing preatty often, and nothing works, ctrl + alt +F1 and ctrl alt backspace doesn't work, the only thing that is working is pushing the powerbutton and reboot.
The problem started after I came back after Christmas and did a pacman -Syu, didn't see any weird things in the output thou. I have read some other threads about people with problems similar to mine, and tried the most of the tips given to them, I have changed my driver to nv instead of nvidia for example. The crashes came in both fluxbox and KDE, and almost always when I'm scrolling webpages (in both firefox and opera), but the first crash was when I was minimizing a window. I have tried to read the logs after the error, but there isn't anything about firefox or opera after the crashes. But I don't really know what logs I should be looking in, and I need to reboot after the crashes, which make it hard to find. I tried to search after firefox and opera in the logs but didn't find anything.
Don't know what files that is needed to solve it, but I can upload them if you say what ones you need.
    Computer specs are:

  • Ipod Touch Crashed, I think....

All it shows on my Ipod is the familiar apple insignia on the black screen, but it's been like this for quite a while, and when I connect it to itunes, it stays the same, and itunes becomes unresponsive. Any suggestions?
Note: This may be because I have about 60 apps on my Ipod touch, although the "crashing" has never happened before.

put it into recovery mode by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10 seconds and then release the sleep/wake button and hold the home button for another 10 seconds and connect it to your computer, itunes should read it as an ipod in recovery mode and then restore it.

  • I still am not 100% operation from a crash I think due to those ADOBE FLASH PLAYER windows that pop up if I view videos at sites like youtube. How do I eliminate those more permanently? Please help if you are able? Thanks

I am led to think that those Adobe flash player popup boxes are big trouble? I would like to know how I can eliminate those from my computer, they block my view right in the center of my screen.
Please help me through? Thanks David Breaux

Hi, I understand. I think they were an older person not so familiar with computers and I was doing my best trying to get them to start their own thread. They have done that, so you shouldn't have any more posts to yours.
    Thanks,

  • After I download ps cs5 it did not open , it crashed I think so  how to fix it and open it , thank you

it says " check online for a solution "

Click the Spotlight magnifying glass icon top right corner of your screen.
    Type in:  Safari
See if multiple Safari apps show up.
If there's only one, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Apple, I downloaded a app from tongbu (minecraft pe) and it ask for my Apple ID details and then the app crashed I am scared that it will get my Apple ID and use it on my credit card please tell me what should I do but I don't want to factory reset .

Hi I downladed minecraft of tongbu, and it asked for Apple ID, it crashed I think it is used to get Apple ID and use it on MY credit card please tell me what to do. I do not want to factory reset because I have a lot of gaming progress, tell me what should I do, I beg you.

    Hello there wkertisrags,
It sounds like you are concerned about your Apple ID security. I would start by resetting your Apple ID password with this article:
    Apple ID: Changing your password
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5624
You can also add some enhanced security with Two-Step Verification, and here is some more information on that:
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5570
If you feel your account data or security has been compromised you may want to reach out to our Account Security team with this article:
Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Safari Mac 5.0.5 crashing, hanging, beach balling at least once a day

I have recently found that Safari (using 5.0.5 (5533.21.1)--Mac) crashes and hangs quite a bit.  I'm only running 2GB of memory, which can account for the spinning ball to some degree.  But I've seen Safari crash and disappear, requiring re-running it, on a number of occasions... enough to make me want to report it here.  I am using Leopard 10.5.8 too.
Here's a crash log... not 100% sure this one is related to the last Safari crash, but think it might be:

  • Leopard 10.5.8 or 10.5.4 System Crashes?

I need some help. I must have a corrupted file in my "User Library". How do I find it? I've tried to do a Restore and I get a message after 3 hours that says 'error cannot complete operation' or something like that. I have Time Capsule and managed to recover all my files by individually importing the proper folders, but when I tried to import my iTunes Library or my iPhoto Library (9GB- 4000 photos), it would 'Copy' the file very slowly and about half way through it would hang (the 'file count left to be copied' would stop changing and if I wait too long to try and 'Cancel Coping' the whole system crashes (I think the problem is with very, very large Folders) and I am forced to do a hard reboot with the power button. Then I am in real trouble, because it corrupts the System and I need to do a complete Restore and now it is full circle again.
I did some research with 'Apple Discussions' and discovered that the problem is most likely in my 'User Library'. I figure during 'Restore' the System sees some corrupt file(s) and refuses to copy it, and that file probably is the cause of the System Crashes. Is there anything out there that can scan my User Library for files that are corrupted or could cause problems?
I have plenty of memory (2GB). I've used 'System Profiler' and it shows that the memory is good. I've tried Restore 3 or 4 different ways with always the same result as above. I've discovered that with Time Machine, if I keep the Folder small enough (less than 4 or 5 GB) it will copy OK. But if the folder is above that limit then 'All H... Breaks Loose'.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of restore? From the Time Machine interface (the "Star Wars" display)? Restoring your entire system by booting from your Leopard Install disc and using the +Restore from Backups+ option?
and I get a message after 3 hours that says 'error cannot complete operation' or something like that.
Sorry, but we're going to need the exact message.

Do you mean copying from your backups via the Finder?

If the problem is something corrupted, it's probably something in your backups, not your user folder (on your internal HD). Try repairing the sparse bundle:
Open the Disk Utility app (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
Mount the sparse bundle by opening the TM drive in finder and double-click on the sparse bundle.
Drag the sparse bundle into Disk Utility's sidebar and do a +*Repair Disk+* (not permissions) on it.
Also, any time you do a forced-power off, you can corrupt your internal HD. So use Disk Utility to do a +*Verify Disk+* (not permissions) on it. If that shows errors, you'll have to boot from your Leopard Install disk and use it's copy of DU to repair them. Post back if you need to do this but need help.
I have plenty of memory (2GB). I've used 'System Profiler' and it shows that the memory is good.
No. System Profiler doesn't test your computer's memory. It just shows what's installed.
Do the +*Repair Disk+* and report back with the results and answers to the questions.
