OC4J frequently shuts down

Hi All,
We are on OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 When ever a user executes a answer's with data more than 500K rows and IE freezes and after a while the OC4J shuts down. It needs a restart of OC4J and sometimes restart of BI services.
Can anyone please let me know if there is a workaround to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Vijay

No browser is going to be happy retrieving 500k rows of data. IE will be the least of them specially IE 6. FireFox will survive if you PC has enough memory. As Alastair said you shouldn't let users retrieve 500k rows, you should set row limits in the RPD so that only reasonable amounts of data are allowed. OBIEE is not a data extraction tool so you shouldn't let your users use it like that. OC4J is not production grade either, you should use an enterprise grade J2EE App Server. There are many options some of them free to use like Tomcat or JBOSS.

  • Battery doesn't charge AND frequent shut down when only on AC power

    Hello all,
I've spent some time browsing and searching this forum to avoid asking a question that has already been answered but I haven't seen a complete answer to this situation so here goes.
I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 model 0768DKU.  Battery (P/N 92P1185) started not charging/not holding a change about 6-8 months ago AND the laptop now abruptly shuts down even when on AC power.  From the forum I found out about the 18 month battery replacement policy but I'm just a few months past the 18 months so out of luck there.  Normally I would just buy a new battery but the last few months I've been getting very frequent shut downs when the laptop is exclusively on AC power even with the battery removed!  This has kept me from buying a battery because the laptop won't stay on even when it's plugged into the wall then how will a battery help?
This has really thrown me for a loop since the laptop may run 30 minutes then it's dead like you pulled the power cord.  Turn it back on maybe 10 minutes then dead, or 5 minutes then dead repeat over and over.
Steps I've taken since browsing the forums:
    Virus scans/spyware are clean
Used compressed air on the fan vent to remove a little dust, opened up and sprayed out dust nothing major.
Speedfan is reporting cpu temperatures of 65C to 69C at 99% idle.
    Reseated memory
    Questions:
Would a new battery potentially solve this problem?  I'm not sure how since it shuts down even with the battery removed and only the power cord plugged in.
    Bad AC adapter?
Thermal problem?  It looks like the cpu is still below temperature ranges based on Intel but it sure seem like a thermal problem to me the way it shuts down.  I'm trying some new thermal grease tonight but not sure if that will realy make a difference.
Any suggestions, I'd hate for it to be motherboard, etc.
Sorry if this was answered elsewhere I've seen all the battery posts but not how the battery would address the fact the laptop shuts down even when on AC power with or without the battery installed.
    Thanks,
    Chad

Hard reset didn't work for me either, thanks for the tip it was worth a shot.
Thermal paste kept temps lower around 45C still suddenly shut off like usual while on AC power.  3, 5, minutes, etc.  Doesn't appear to be thermal.
Could the "bad" battery somehow be messing up the power circuit and cutting off.  Looks like the battery problem with these units is huge wish I'd been looking earlier since I was within the extended 18 month period at the time.  Just want to hear that someone bought a battery and it fixed the problem....

  • Frequent shut down on Facebook app using iPad?? 5.1.1

Frequent shut down while on Facebook, posting comments and more frequent while upload pictures, reviewing pictures or watching streaming videos... Does anyone knows why, since I can't get any Apple support, they all moved to MARS??

This was/is a common occurrence with the older Facebook app running in iOS 5. The new app running in iOS 6 crashes rarely.
When Facebook does quit don't restart it immediately. Actually quit the app first like this. Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

  • IMac 2006 Frequently Shutting Down

Hey! For a while now, my iMac 2006 has been very frequently shutting itself down and then it can sometimes take up to and over and hour for it to turn back on. this started over a year ago and then it went away this past summer but recently it has been doing it a lot. The computer is only running for a short amount of time and it happens when I am using any program (I have tried several). I read somewhere that vacuuming the computer's vents to remove dust helps and I usually do this whenever the computer shuts off but I was wondering if anybody knows what I could do to permanently fix this issue. Here are some of the specs of the computer I am using:
Processor  2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2 GB 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB
I've also been running OS X 10.7.5 and I am not sure if my computer can handle the new OS X Yosemite
(Not sure if these will help)
    Thanks!

Your machine is exhibiting symptoms of a failing HD. Run Apple's Hardware Test in extended mode at least 2-3 times back to back. If errors appear on any pass take it in for repair at an AASP, an Apple Store will not work on it due to it's age. The reason to run the test 2-3 times back to back is AHT does not always  pick up errors on the first or even second pass, however when it does find errors the report is correct.
By the way, your machine will NOT run Yosemite or Mavericks, it's simply too old. The minimum system requirements are:
Yosemite will run on the following Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

  • Ipad 2 frequently shutting down

Hi. I'm fairly new to iPads, and have an iPad 2 that is out of warranty.
I am experiencing issues whereby quite frequently when either starting up or changing applications the iPad shuts down. The screen goes black, and then the apple icon appears and the unit seems to reboot after a while. When the unit is working normally, the battery life seems fine, but when it resets it seems to burn a load of battery power and quite often needs to be plugged in to restart and then to recharge.
Has anyone experienced this issue before?
Is it a battery issue that would be fixed with a replacement battery? Or is it something more major?
I'm using iOS 7.0.4, but this problem has been going on for quite a while.
I would be grateful of any advice. thank you.

    RockHunter wrote:
This happens occasionally at inopportune times.
I don't think that there is ever a good time for this to occur.
What do you mean the Apple splash screen? You see the Apple logo on the screen?
It appears as though your apps are crashing. Have you tried quitting apps and restarting? Reset the iPad?
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Frequent shut down

My computer shuts down after short period of sleep or if I choose "sleep" from the menu. Sometimes I can restart, sometimes I have to unplug the power for a while to get it to restart. My serial number is within the three-year policy period but I'm 300 miles from an Apple Store.

My serial number is within the three-year policy period...
Not sure what you mean by that.
Call Apple. If your Mac is covered by warranty or repair extension they will arrange shipping.

  • Early 2008 Mac Pro frequently shut downs during start up, Help!

    Hello all,
My early 2008 Mac Pro has gradually started having the following problems:
It will often shut down when it goes to sleep.
It has shut down randomly a few times.
And just today it shut down about 5-10 seconds after being turned on. It took about 6 tries before I could get it to turn on.
I have tried all of theusual software remedies (disk utility, different startup drives, resetting the SMC, PRAM, etc.)
I have run apple hardware test on loop for several hours with no errors appearing...
The computer also often loads up to a circle with with a slash through the middle sign, though I am not sure if this is related (it started happening when it switched my system over to a SSD).
I am wondering if this is simply a slowly sying PSU and if replacing it might help? If there any way of monitoring this perhaps? I somehow thought that if it was the PSU then it would simply die completely rather than fade like this...
    Any ideas much appreciated!

There are multiple threads and reports of issues with Icy Dock - there is one on Amazon that lines up properly.
The drive sled length of 2009-2012 Mac Pro are longer. Maybe OWC needs to be clearer.
You'e right half-way and maybe some corrupt plist or interferring process you have, or even another hardware item or cable - external - even printer drivers or something that refuses or does not like sleep. Controller card?
All around I'd have to vote for Samsung 830 model. Then Intel 520. Crucial is out with x4 now (Or is it "V"?)
SSD firmware continues to be trouble. Even May-June the SandForce firmware had major issue and reason to hold off any using theirs. Reason to see if yours needed to be updated. Someone last week with m4 found they had old firmware and needed to update it.

  • Blackberry Curve 9360 Frequently shutting down at random

Having some real issues with my blackberry shutting down at random. Somtimes in my pocket, somtimes when its just sitting on a table, often several times in a day. No, before you ask, its not getting unlocked and shut down by accident. Ensured its not just a low battery issue, as it happens even when it has been fully charged for several hours. When it eventually boots back up, it seems to have forgotten the time and date. It is, very inconvieniant. I am however by no means an expert when it comes to phones, as this is the first one i've had that does anything more than call and text, so any help or advice anyone could give would be greatly appriciated.
    Random Details:
    Provider: Orange
    Model: Curve 9360
OS System: Had some real issues finding this, ill write down what i found (though its probably incorrect). 7.0 bundle 1825 (v7.0.0.400).
The only app i've downloaded onto it is sky news, and the battery has been replaced and played with many different ways to no improvement.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
If your BB remains under warranty, it may be just as well to cease any further diagnostics and seek support from your warranty service provider.

    Thank you for your response.
I did not find "/persistence/transaction.state" in E:/OraHome1/j2ee/Oracle9iDS . Instead it was in E:/OraHome1/j2ee/Home ( not sure how that happened). I moved it manually to the right path. Now I can run OC4J without any errors. But now I have a related problem. ....when I try to run Forms Builder (after first running OC4J), I get the error: FRM-10142 : THE HTTP LISTNER IS NOT RUNNING ON asha1-eb699e77a AT PORT 8888 PLEASE START THE LISTNER OR CHECK YOUR RUNTIME PREFERENCE.
I also set the runtime application server URL as http://asha1-eb699e77a:8888/forms90/f90servlet, which is the default URL. But I still get the same above error.
Looking at the previous messages on this forum, I checked portlist.ini ---->

  • OBIEE 10g, OC4J not shutting down

    Hello
I am running into this problem with 10g trying to shutdown OC4J in Linux
    So I ran the commend:
oc4j -shutdown -port 8808 -password sys123I entered the right port number.
I went to EM to reset the oc4j password to sys123.
    Then it goes:
    Shutdown OC4J instance...
But it will just hang there for ever until I have to manuelly kill OC4J session..
could anybody let me know how to go about debugging this behavior?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I remember this as an issue in Unix and it was recommended simply to use the Unix kill command to stop the standalone OC4J.
Also, metalink document 1312743.1 provides this syntax:
    java -jar OracleBI_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
where <oc4jadmin password> is the password for the oc4jadmin user.
The syntax above works well on Windows. On Linux it generates the reported error.
If affected, try one of the following alternate syntax options. The first excludes the host name and port from the ormi argument. The second includes the IPV4 option.
    java -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi:// oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
    java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar /OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 oc4jadmin <oc4jadmin password> -shutdown force
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • GPU panic error - Computer frequently shuts down

After some research i couldn't really find the solution to my problem, so i decided to seek help on the forum.
Recently my MBP retina late 2012 started crashing with the screen going all black leaving the keyboard lights on. I had to force it to restart. After a couple of attempts I could finally access the computer for about 10 min before it crashed again, during which i could see the logs. As of know it has been on for 1 hour without any issues but when I run some more hardware-intense programs it crashes. Since i bought the computer from a private person without insurance im not entitled to the 3 year warranty.
    Im getting these errors:

Can someone tell something out of this report? Have no idea what my next step will be.
    Sincerely

Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The MBP is having issues with the GPU.  Bring a copy of this report with you.
    Ciao.

  • Q10 Frequently Shuts Down

I have noticed that a few of our Q10s have an issue where they will reboot for no apparent reason, regardless of the amount of charge left in the battery.
The one device I am working with right now is at 10.1.0.4181 and I plan to run the update.  I would like to avoid backing up and restoring this device as I dont have a lot of faith in that process right now.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    thanks
    Laura

Yes, I've seen a handfull of others here with that issue...
It could be a rogue app installed.
It could be slightly loose battery. Place a folded sheet of paper (or a single business card) over the battery and replace the battery door for a few days... and observe if the reboots persist. If not, it's a loose battery. If they do, it's either software and an OS upgrade could resolve it, or hardware in which case a warranty return would be in order.

  • TS3274 My iPad shuts down frequently while I am using it.  I took it to the Apple Store & they cleared it out and I reloaded the Apps and this didn't help.  What should I do?

I am stumped as my iPad2 is frequently shutting down while I am using it.  I took it to the Apple Store where they cleared it and I reloaded the Apps, but this didn't help.  It is less than a year old.

Another fellow Apple users suggested the following steps:
    1. Try a reset (probably unnecessary for you, but try it anyway)
    2. Clean docking port with clean tooth brush and alcohol (and not too much alcohol)
    3. Try another wall socket (preferably one that's not shared with other devices)
    4. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    5. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    6. Make sure you're not using a USB hub (may not have enough of power)

  • HP M8300f fails to start, shuts down when running

I have to frequently use system restore because it fails to start properly.      When running, it frequently shuts down (blue or black screen).    From what I have learned researching on the net, there is a known issue with the motherboard on this computer.
I purchased two HP laptops that have also failed before their time.    Apparently a known issue with overheating.    I wish I had known before I bought them.    They both failed a year ago.     Now the desktop is failing.
Thank you, HP, for your not-so fine quality control.
I will never again purchase an HP computer or device of any kind.     Ever.      Nor will I recommend them to any of the people in my circle of friends or at the Fortune 100 company where I work.

The same problem to me. In just over a year, mine started with these freezing problems. After many tries with customer support, none of which provided me with a clue I gave up.Then I found the motherboard's capacitors were kind of bulged. Bad quality boards I guess.
