OC4J Java Heap Size.

Hello.
I need to deploy a 150Mo war file. I set -Xmx2048m and -Xms2048m parameters in the properties of the concerned OC4J container.
My container could not be restarted ... What is wrong ?
Otherwis, when deploying the 150Mo war file, after a while, i got a 500 Error.
Very disapointing ......

A process in 32-bit Windows can only address 4 GB of RAM total. By default, Windows allocates 2 GB for the system and 2 GB for processes. There is a configuration switch to allow the use of up to 3GB for processes.
Sure you can have multiple processes using 2 or 3 GB at a time so your 8 GB isn't wasted.
See here for more details:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx
Oh, and this isn't a WIndows thing, it affects all 32-bit OS. Most other server OS just aren't 32-bit anymore. Plus 2 GB for a process isn't too bad. Too bad Windows can't use 2 GB per thread.
I'm not sure why you're limited to 1.5 GB exactly or where you're limited to it, but it's not like you're wasting 6.5 GB like you're putting out there.
So, what exactly are you looking for a patch for? If there is a technical issue that is a bug, file a SR with Oracle so they can fix the problem...
Sorry for the ramblings. Hard to believe I'd have 4 GB of RAM in my home PC, especially looking back at the size of my first hard drive :-D

  • How to increase Memory and Java Heap Size for Content Server

    Hi,
My content server is processing requests very slowly. Over performance is not good. I have 2 GB of RAM any idea what files I can modify to increase the Java Heap Size for the Content Server. If I increase the RAM to 4 or 6 GB where do I need to make changes for the Java Heap Size and what are the recommended values. I just have Content Server Running on the linux box. • How to increase the Java Heap size ?

    Hi
I am new to java. I have created a java application and i configured in Eclipse. While running my application it throws an error that
"Exception in thread "Thread-21" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"
i have used threads in my application. Then i searched some forums regarding this. The answer i got is "Increase the java heap size" using
"java -Xms64m -Xmx256m prog" in command prompt. while running.
But i am not running my application in command prompt. I used Eclipse to run my application. Here my ultimate question is how to set the heap size while running the application in Eclipse and where to set in Eclipse.
    Kindly help me.

i have used 20 threads to extract the datas
Then parallel i am starting one more thread to process the data. Means that i am starting 21st thread. In thread is throwing the error.

Looks like ur getting   heap size error while trying to fetch  records for ctparts complex table. From platform  point of view you have increased heap size. Next step is to analyze application settings for ctparts  complex table. As indicated by Steve from application point you need check the need for  amount of materials your trying to retrive , can you set filter for ctparts ,  does  ctparts  BAPI execute in SAP without any timeout error.
What is the version of Work Manager your using ?    With WM 6.1 you have options to  take advantage of data staging that is delievered as part of standard application.
    Thanks

  • How do we monitor Java heap size

How do we monitor Java heap size? Is there any way to check whether we are exceeding the heap size or not?
    Regards,
    N.S

    Hi,
    > How do we monitor Java heap size? Is there any way to
    > check whether we are exceeding the heap size or not?
    >
You should run your JAVA AS with the recommended settings described in the note
"Java VM settings for J2EE 6.30/6.40/7.0"
    SAP Note Number: 723909.
If you do so, you can find the garbage collector log messages in your dev_server* or your std_server*.out file.
You can also use the option -Xloggc:<file> to log to a seperate file.
You can visualize the GC log file with a tool like GCViewer.
    See
    http://www.javaperformancetuning.com/tools/gcviewer/index.shtml
for an overview of this tool.

  • 8.2 EPPM Application Server Java Heap Size

Hello I am reading the sizing guide is there a way to calculate the Java Heap Size required? The guide suggest 8GB was wondering if anyone has any experience and how much java heap size are you using?

JVM configuration is largely based on the load on the server. You can start with as little as 2GB and based on the load, you can increase it. Other factors that you need to consider is the number of CPU, RAM, Swap space etc.

  • How to Increase Java Heap Size through Java Code. Increase inside Code?

    Hi All,
I am using a third party tool. When i run a particular program it says OutOfMemory error. I like to increase heap size through Java Code before calling the particular Java application or Code..
Is there is any way to set the Heap Size through Java Code in run time ???
    Pls Kindly help.
    Thanks.

if you start the program with a -Xmx512m flag, the virtual machine gets half a gigabyte of memory to use (or that's the max it's allowed to use). All things run in the same virtual machine will have the same limit, third party tools run in the same virtual machine can't "not care about this" unless they're throwing OOMs themselves for some stupid reason.

  • Java heap size adminserver

    Hello,
i would like to know the java heap memory size for adminserver by default.

    Jean marc

    hello,
    thanks for your answers.
i install oracle bi publisher in standalone on windows 2008 64 bits.
the installation create a weblogic server with an adminserver, bi publisher is installed in the adminserver.
    if i look for setDomainEnv.cmd,
    i have
    set XMS_SUN_64BIT=256
    set XMS_SUN_32BIT=256
    set XMX_SUN_64BIT=512
    set XMX_SUN_32BIT=512
    set XMS_JROCKIT_64BIT=256
    set XMS_JROCKIT_32BIT=256
    set XMX_JROCKIT_64BIT=512
    set XMX_JROCKIT_32BIT=512
so , i use java sun 64 bits , so the setting XMX_SUN_64BIT=512 is used.
but if i look in the task manager, the java.exe process, the memory allocated is around 2G .
i don't find xmx settings in adminserver.log located at

  • Iseries Settings for JAVA  (Heap sizes)

I am new to SAP, not to Iseries. The notes 717376 and 990892 give me insight as to what needs chging but not the how to change it.
I want to know if I can set the heap sizes directly in the IFS and How.  Our consultants are not ISeries strong...  I can not get the Config tool to work, and Visual Admin is too
foreign for me to find where the sizing is.
PI takes way to long to start up and my guess is we need initial heapsize to be set and max increased.
    thank you

    Hi
I am not sure about iSeries but the configuration of parameters in SAP Java stack always affect the Java system performance. The few steps to change parameters are as follows:
Main point is you have to use the configtool only. You cannot use Visual Administrator to change the memory parameters.
Open the ConfigTool ( usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<sys nr>/j2ee/configtool file would be configtool.sh)
Then at the left hand pane you would get the Server and Instances (local and global : these are used for the cluster environment; local means that you are logged into the current instance....global means that you want to change the settings for whole of the Java stack)
If you click on them like Instance_<instance number>; right hand side you would get all the parameters where you can change these settings.
    Follow the notes instructions.
It would ask for the restart of the SAP server

  • Java heap Size Change

I like to know the file namewhere in we can change/edit the heap size value to check and determine the threshold for the Maximum size of message that a JMS queue can handle with the given CPU and other Infra structure configuration in OSB 11g.

    Hi
You can change heap size in (user_projects/domains/Domain_NAME/bin) setDomainEnv.sh
    MEM_ARGS="-Xms256m -Xmx512m"
And to change the Maximum size of message you have to use the below parameter by the way the default size is 10 MB and add this in to your JAVA Options
    JAVA_OPTIONS= -Dweblogic.MaxMessageSize=n
    Where n is the value.
