OCA 11g vs OCA 10g

I have the intention to pursue OCA but I am not sure if it would be worth it to try OCA 10g or maybe try OCA11g right away. Any help would be appreciated. Is there any material already for OCA 11g that is recommended.
Cheers

>> Hey man where i can i get free resources for preparing for 10g or 11g OCP.your help will be really appreciated
For your preparation tey the Student Guides/ILT (Instructor Led Training) Materials, which are developed by Oracle. These course materials are given to the students/candidates those who undergo the respective and correspondent courses from Oracle University/Any authorized Oracle Center. In general, all questions are asked in the exams from these materials topics. So, these ILTs are handy in preparing and passing the exams.
For sure no books or materilas are availble on the net for free to prepare for OCA/OCP Exams.
Only the free documents available place is.

I gained my OCA 10g certification in 2007, is there such a thing as an upgrade exam from OCA 10g > OCA 11g, or do I have to start the 11g track from scratch ?

However IMHO if you view the topics for 10g OCA and 11g OCA you will see about 75%+ commonality so its not like you have to start from scratch, more like 2/3 to 3/4 the way up the hill.
If your final target is 11g OCP then you are obviously aware you could go 1z0-043 + 1z0-050 or 1z0-052 + 1z0-053 ..... with a hands on course being required either way. I don't wish to advise on which route would suit you best.

Thanks in advance.- I assume you mean the 10g DBA OCA. You eed one of he SQL exams and 1z0-042 for this.
    - Read forum annoucement posts and FAQs
    - Visit [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification]
    - Visit [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=151] and drill down from there.
---- The exam course page also gives recomended oracle training.
    ---- See [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
You should also evaluate why you are chooses 10g DBA OCA rather than 11g DBA OCA. There can be good reasons for this.
Please note that if you continue with the next DBA certiifcation on that route (10g DBA OCP ) you will need to have an approved attended a hands on course (for that certification) from an approved institution (Oracle University is the safest bet).

  • Guidance on OCA 11g

    Hi everyone,
Google landed me down here for the the keyword OCA 10g vs OCA 11g.
Well, I am a student and this is my first post. I did search for the word OCA 11g and read almost all the posts. I have a query and I am sorry if this has been asked already.
I know, OCA 11g = (1z0-007 || 1z0-051 || 1z0-047) && 1z0-052. My question is which pair to go with. I am new to Oracle DB and hence I am gonna learn it from the basic anyways. Even though I am gonna take up the 11g exam I sure will be starting my preparation with the 10g.
Can anyone tell me which one to choose among the three (1z0-007 || 1z0-051 || 1z0-047)? I really have no clue on what basis should I be choosing one.
    Thanks for your time!

Have you checked Oracle Database 11g Administrator page? Read the exam topics of each exam, it should be helpful.
You may go with 10g OCP DBA (two exams), and write the 11g OCP DBA upgrade exam (1 exam). By doing this, you will be Oracle 10g and 11g OCP DBA certified.

  • Query on OCA 11g

    Hi,
I wanted to know that, to complete OCA 11g certification Oracle recommends
Oracle Database: SQL Fundamentals I and Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I trainings.
Is it necessary to take above trainings?
Or can I pass this exam by self study?
I am a fresher please do the needful.

You do not have to complete any training in order to become an Oracle 11G OCA.
Pass a SQL exam (normally 1Z0-051) and the Admin 1 exam (1Z0-052) and you will be granted the certification.

  • OCA 11g certification and version 12c release

    Hello, I have a doubt.
I'm currently studying for OCA 11g version ( 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 ) with the release of 12c can I still take the exam for 11g ?.
I'm new in Oracle's world, In Microsoft certifications you can take exams for the current release of a product and also for the previoss version.
    Thanks !.
    Regards.

Yes, you can still do the 11g exams .  In fact the 12c  1Z0-062 exam is still beta and not production.

do i need oca 9i certification for getting 11g database certification for application developer not for DBA

The problems start when people are imprecise about the certification they are seeking ... the list is here ....

If you notice there is no mention of '11g oca' or '9i oca' in the list.
    There is mention of:
    - Oracle 11g DBA OCA
    - Oracle9i DBA OCA
    - Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA
And one can drill down links to see the requirements for these certifcations:
for example for a - Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA a pass in one of (1z0-007 or 1z0-047 or 1z0-051 (or 1z0-001) ) plus a pass in one of (1z0-144 or 1z0-147) is required.
    There is a post from mediaguy (that goes to a blog that is currently unavailable at the time of this post ... but will proably be fixed in a day or two) that I feel has a chance of being relevant also (note i have not read it yet). {thread:id=1049842}

  • Why you want to be on 11g and not 10g on your Siebel upgrade large database

    Hi All,
Just realized the issue of adding new non nullable columns that normally is a huge issue on Siebel upgrades should go away with 11g since the way this is handled is totally changed. Other than tables like s_audit_item which has a CLOB column should allow these columns to be added very fast.
This is good reason to go with 11g instead of 10g if you are upgrading Siebel.
When you add a column, the initial value of each row for the new column is null. If
you specify the DEFAULT clause for a NOT NULL column, then the default value is
stored as metadata but the column itself is not populated with data. However,
subsequent queries that specify the new column are rewritten so that the default value
is returned in the result set.
This optimized behavior differs from earlier releases, when as part of the ALTER
TABLE operation Oracle Database updated each row in the newly created column with
the default value, and then fired any AFTER UPDATE triggers defined on the table.
However, the optimized behavior is subject to the following restrictions:
    ■ The table cannot have any LOB columns. It cannot be index-organized, temporary,
or part of a cluster. It also cannot be a queue table, an object table, or the container
    table of a materialized view.
    ■ The column being added cannot be encrypted

Ok well you need to get your facts straight. You say the reason to upgrade to OS 4 but half of these have to do with the new iPhone 4 and not the OS. Two totally different issues

  • What are all difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus.

    hi all ,
Apart from SCA concept , storing location
is thr any other difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus ?
    thx in advance..

11g introduces the SCA architecture for building the service infrastructure.
    SOA 11g uses:-
    1. Uses the weblogic Server and BEA Aqualogic Service Bus (ALSB) for the Oracle Service Bus.
    2. BPEL uses scalable DOM with reduced memory usage.
    3. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA)
    4. BAM finally ported from .Net to J2EE and is part of the service infrastructure
    5. Oracle Web Services Management built into SOA 11g service infrastructure
    6. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA). Tighter integration with E-Business Suite & large payload support.
    7. Business Rules in SOA 10g business rules are managed using the Rules Author & in SOA 11g business rules are managed using JDeveloper and SOA composer

  • OSB 11g,BPEL PM 10g -Does these products has in-built Registry & Discovery

I am looking for options to evaluate Registry and Discovery features for Services developed using OSB 11g, BPEL PM 10g Products. Does these products have these features in-built?
From the product documentation, I noted OSR will provide these features and need to integrate it with OSB, BPEL PM. Without having OSR, can Registry and Discovery features available in OSB 11g, BPEL PM 10g

You have to have a registry in place to manage the service endpoints and have BPEL/OSB discovering them at runtime. BPEL/OSB does not have any inbuilt registry support but they can interact with a registry. Oracle Service Bus can interact with any UDDI 3.0 compliant registry including Oracle Service Registry. h1. Using Different Releases and Versions of Export
Whenever you are moving data between different releases of the Oracle database, the following basic rules apply:
The Import utility and the database to which data is being imported (the target database) must be the same version.
The version of the Export utility must be equal to the earliest version of the source or target database.
For example, to create an export file for an import into a later release database, use a version of the Export utility that is equal to the source database. Conversely, to create an export file for an import into an earlier release database, use a version of the Export utility that is equal to the version of the target database.
In general, you can use the Export utility from any Oracle8 release to export from an Oracle9i server and create an Oracle8 export file. See Creating Oracle Release 8.0 Export Files from an Oracle9i Database.
