  • Need infos on Oracle DBA certification exam

    Hi all,
I want to pass an Oracle 1àg DBA certification exam but i don't know what exam should i have to pass. on 2005 i've already passed teh exam IZ0-001 SQL and PLSL for oracle 9i but now i want to pass an OCA or OCP certification. can some recommand me which exam should pass.
I mean can i directly pass exam for OCP or i have to pass the OCA exam befvore OCP.
I want to know if OCA is prerequisite exam to pass OCP.
Is there a documents or any link which explain that process.
    Thanks.

Firstly, you must pass anyone of the below exams, they are non-proctored exams and you can take them by online. Take an account from http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/ and register anyone of the below exams.(Note:Enough only one exam you want)
    1Z0-007Introduction to Oracle9i SQL or
    1Z0-047Oracle Database SQL Expert or
    1Z0-051Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
And later yo will take "Oracle Database 11g: Administration I 1Z0-052" exam. If you pass this exam you will be an OCA.
After all you must complete one of the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses. This course is mandatory. After the course is finished you must take
"Oracle Database 11g: Administration II 1Z0-053" exam.
And the end you are an OCP, congratulations! :)

It is not unambigous wheher you are talking about training, or certification.
Visit http://certification.oracle.com to definitively identify the requirements the requirements for 9i DBA OCP and 11g DBA OCP certifications.
I suspect you have already completed some WDP training toward the training requirement for 9i DBA OCP, though I suspect it is inelligible for 11g DBA OCP.
My suggested course of action is:-
[1]: Identify your existing Oracle Testing Id: (See below)
    [2]: register at Pearson VUe
[3]: Register at Certview, check you existing certification shows there.
[4]: If you think your training is elligible for 11g: (It probably isnt so this may be a waste of time).
[4a] Submit tyour course for verifiction against 11g DBA OCP http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99
    [4b] If unsuccessful goto [5]
[4c] Ccomple 1z0-052 and 1z0-053 exams (you should already have at SQL exam pass). You should achieve 11g DBA OCP accreditation.
[5] Submit tyour course for verifiction against 9i DBA OCP http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99
[5a] If unsuccessful goto [6] { It may be unsuccessful if you did not complete the training track ... seek course verification IMHO ASAP so you know where you are).
[5b] Complete remaining 9i DBA OCP exams .... 1z0-032 and 1z0-033. You should achieve 9g DBA OCP accreditation. You may upgrade to Oracle 11g using e.g. 1z0-055.
[6] Your existing training will not count towards DBA OCP. See advice from Oracle Certification Support. You probably will have to redo training for OCP.
note : I lose my testing id but i have the certificat is it enough .Not initially.
    Visit:
    http://certification.oracle.com
Find the help center: Support - Help Center.
Expand: 'I forgot my Prometric Testing ID and I need it to create my Pearson VUE account so that any exams I took at Prometric are under the same account as any exams I take at Pearson VUE. How do I retrieve it? '
Follow the instructions thereto to contact Oracle Certification Support.

    Note:
    - My strong suspiscion is the 1z0-03x exams may be retired soon after Oracle 12c Database becomes production, i.e. at some point during this year. You will get at least 3 months warning ... but it might only be three months.

  • A few Questions about OCA DBA

Hello everyone, I currently passed the second test required for my OCA-DBA certification, 1Z0-052-ENU, sadly my 3 attempts on singing onto http://certview.oracle.com were invalid " and not sure why because all my Info was properly given ", My 4 questions, *#1* : is my Certification Kit gonna be delayed because I cant log into certview ? *#2*: why does perasonvue.com show my oracle tests as "taken" and not passed ? all of my other certifications show passed in the Status tab. just thought it was a little weird. *#3*: To Download My logo I have to wait for the kit correct ? *#4*: was I suppose to do something else but going into certview after passing my test or are all of the steps I tried to take properly in place?
Anyways I appreciate any replies concerned to this issue I currently have, and I wish everyone a wonderful day

This is quite normal. Automatic authentication by certview only happens if everything is perfect and the weather is fine. Otherwise Certview send goes off for a manual check.
My 4 questions, *#1* : is my Certification Kit gonna be delayed because I cant log into certview ?Your authentication should be sorted in 3 working days or so. It won't affect the delivery time of your certification kit ( 6 to 8 weeks or sometimes a little more) (Unless things work in more mysterious ways than I can imagine!)
*#2*: why does perasonvue.com show my oracle tests as "taken" and not passed ? all of my other certifications show passed in the Status tab. just thought it was a little weird.I assume here you are talking about the PearsonVue website.
I think 'taken' is fine, it may eventually go to passed. I recall this being brought up some time ago. I am too busy to check this out.
Pearson vue from an oracle viewpoint doesnt deal in the 'certification ' entities. It only deals with 'exams'.
*#3*: To Download My logo I have to wait for the kit correct ?From once you are authenticated on Certview, and the Certifcation database has received your passed, and the Certification rules process has deemed you to be certified and entered your certification ino the certifcation database and certview then you can download the logo from certview.
*#4*: was I suppose to do something else but going into certview after passing my test or are all of the steps I tried to take properly in place?certview registration is optional but ever so strongly recommended. It enables you to confirm quicky the certifcation is awarded.

  • Quest for OCA DBA Cert

I'm seeking help from anyone willing to provide it. A little background here, I'm 24 with a BS majoring in Political Science and a Minor in Computer Information Systems (CIS). My CIS classes included a semester about SDLC and a class focusing on Oracle Databasing, working with 10g for the semester. I also have some background in Visual Basic programming, completing two semesters of that.
I'm currently working in the Information Assurance field with 2 years experience and a Security+ cert from CompTIA. However, I've become exhausted (read: bored) in my field and would like to make a career change to something more hands on. I figure that I enjoyed my work getting my minor in CIS, especially my class on databasing, and that I could shoot for an OCA DBA certification and make a career change, and from there seek the OCP.
I guess my question is this: from everyone's experiences, what are your thoughts on my prospects of landing a job with an OCA DB and no real experience? I would have no problem being a junior DBA since I still have plenty of time to advance through my career. I am also under the assumption that it would be best to look for a job with a small company that may need one person to cover multiple tasks.
Am I delusional in thinking that I could make this jump, or is there a chance for me to get my Cert and move on to a new career path?
Thanks to anyone in advance for advice.

In general in the US, there aren't a whole lot of positions for junior DBAs. Most tasks that you could potentially hand off to a junior DBA are things that Oracle has automated or things that can be done with shell scripts or database jobs.
There are three relatively common paths to becoming a DBA. The first option is to start as a developer that specializes in the database side of things and to transition into a more DBA-type role often going through a development DBA role. The second option is to start of a "jack of all trades" at a smaller company that handles database administration, system administration, web servers, etc. The third ption is to start as a systems admin and transition into more of a database administration role.
If you're looking for an entry-level job, my bias would be to suggest that you look for a database developer role with a larger company or to look for a "jack of all trades" position with a smaller company.

  • How to add OCA DBA track Logo to Resume

    Hi all,
Can anyone please help me out in how to add OCA DBA track logo to Resume,
    Please help me out...
    Regards,
    - Sri

you should have received a letter from the Oracle Certification Program where the logo usage is stated, otherwise you can go to the Oracle Education site for further information.
On the other hand, logo and title usage may mean different things, there are countries where showing a document or a degree is more important thant the knowledge and experience; there are other countries where it is the other way around. Either way, showing an OCA (logo or reference) in a resume isn´t considered enough to make a difference in a very keen and competitive job market.

  • DBA Certification Exam

Could anyone tell me aout DBA Ceertification Exam. I would like to take it up in the near future. If anyone has sample questions, please post it.Also suggest me some useful sites to prepare for the Exam.
    TIA,
    Oracle user

You will have to take the following courses and eventually pass exams in each of these. I presume you are thinking of Oracle 8i DBA certification.
    a) Introduction to SQL/PL-SQL
    b) Oracle architecture
    c) Backup and Recovery
    d) Performance and Tuning
    e) Network Administration
You can either attend Oracle classes or study on your own.
For more info go to www.oracle.com/education .

I am an OCP. I have completed my exams. But at times I feel too dumb. So OCP will not help you, unless you understand the concepts and have hands on experience. unless you live with oracle server. In fact, It may mislead yourself about your knowledge if you get an OCP from those brain dumps. (You may think yourself high, because you are an OCP. But in actual knowledge you will be very low).
To get an OCP from the brain dumps all you need is good memory power. That my 3 year old can do.
But that's not what being a DBA is.

  • Regarding 11g OCA and OCP exams

    Hi,
I have 10g OCA. Now i am planning to write 11g OCA and OCP. Do i need to write 11g OCA or can i upgrade my 10g OCA to 11g.
Can any one please let me know how to prepare for 11g OCA and OCP. any web links or any text books do i need to follow in order to get good score in both certifications

There is no upgrade path for the OCA certification. You'd need to take the 11g OCA exams. Assuming we're talking about the DBA track (there are many different tracks), you should have passed one of the SQL exams when you got your 10g OCA so you probably only need to take one more exam for the 11g OCA.
All of Oracle's documentation is online at http://tahiti.oracle.com. You should be able to find more than enough information about all the exam topics there.

Can any member of the community please provide me with some good study material or dumps ??
Want to upgrade to 10g soon.
    Thanks.

Absolutely no dumps or materials are being shared here, moreover sharing of Oracle Materials or any dumps is an illigal.
For your upgrade exam 1z0-040 preparation use the Oracle Student Guides/ILT Materials and Self Test Software and Transcender test engines. Take a look at below url.

    Best regradsHi Bilel,
    - Part of the Non-disclosure agreement indicates you should not disclose your Oracle Testing Id. ..... posting it on this site makes it available for a very big proportion of the world population.
    - It is also IMHO unwise to publish personal details on the internet.
..... That said you appear not to have received your success kit.
...... I can understand Oracle may have had difficulties with postage to your part of the world this year .... I hope all is much settled and people have found peace.
....... That said your case is a success kit not received.
You appear to have raised multiple Oracle Requests ... there could be a danger some of these are getting in the way of each other.
Although my personal opinion is not that this forum should not become a fast track for Success Kit not received issues ... which has a procedure in place which should generally be effective, i can imagine your case may be a little special. From another post I understand it is usually the case a 3rd attempt to send a success kit is via a respected courier.
    #### The fact you have not recieved a response from Oracle may indicate an issue with you email or a spam filter ... and this may not be helping you.

  • Preparation for Oracle 10g OCA and OCP exams

    Hi all,
I am studying for my first Oracle 10g OCA exam. Thus far, I have the Transcender exam prep software and book from Oracle Press for the OCA/OCP exams with Oracle 10g. With a test Oracle 10g database to practice on while I study, am I on the right path?
    Thanks

Use the http://education.oracle.com OR http://otn.oracle.com as your portal - you'll see the Certification link on either one. From the Certification page you will be able to drill down to the objectives and requirements of the exam. I suggest you use that as a checklist, as the various books and sample exams have been known to include mistakes or miss items.
In addition, you should be familiar with the first few chapters of the Oracle Concepts manual and also, preferably, the first few chapters of the DB Admin Guide - both available from http://tahiti.oracle.com
A great motto while learning is "trust no one - verify everything"

Please i am new t Oracle and want to take First exam of Sql/Pl sql can anybody help me regaring "How should i proceed" what material I should prepare and if anybody can share his/her experiance of the exam or reading material .So Please help me reply soon.

Hello. I used Sam's Oracle8 Database Development in 21 Days to learn the basics of SQL and PL/SQL. Also Oracle the Complete Reference (Oracle Press), and Oracle How To (Waite Press). From what I've heard, Oracle PL/SQL Programming by Feuerstein is good, and there are several others. Work through two or three of these, Learn the material and you should be able to pass the test. Oracle DBA Training Guide (New Riders Publishing) has practice tests that can give you an idea of your strengths and weaknesses. But the actual test is more rigorous.
