Then we can upgrade ourself to 11g OCP just by passing one examOracle *1Z0
    -055* is that possible?
Can i have OCA in 9i and OCP in 11g

From the title of your post you seem to be seeking an PL/SQLOCA certification (obained by fr instance 1z0-051 + 1z0-144 (though there are other options).
However the exams you mentaion typically refer to DBA Certifications.

  • Query Regarding the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA

    Hi All
I am planning to go for the certification "Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA "
But I am not sure what is value of this certification in market.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in advance

My view is this: The more you can put on your resume, usually the better. By itself, its not worth anything. Combined with several years of experience, it could make a difference. If you go for a job and have 5 years of experience and a certification, and the other candidate just has 5 years, as long as you both interview well, I'd say you have a slightly better shot because you have that extra thing on your resume.
You need to look at it in that respect - but its not a magic key to get you any job. Of course different countries may be different in how they view certiciations.

  • No Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer OCP in June UK Training Leaflet?

Oracle have out of the kindness of it's heart :x (and desire to avail of bigdelboy's gbp ;\ ) sent bigdelboy an Oracle (UK/Eire) Training Courses June-October 2009.
This training course leaflet also references certifications.
Now interestingly there is no reference to the Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional on this :(
There is mention of the following 4 training courses wrt certs:
Oracle AS 10g : portal - build corporate portals
Oracle AS 10g : portal - build build portlets with PL/SQL
Oracle forms developer 10g: build internal applications
Oracle Reports Developer 10g: build reports
And looking at this bigdelboy also noticed ?:| .....
... to top it all, as of the time of this post the Oracle PL/SQL developer and forms Page currently at:
seems to be showing incorrect info ...
It shows Advanced Pl/SQL developer OCP being obtainable by:
1z0-051(or friends)+1z0-147+1z0-144 (1z0-144 is not shown explicitly but the link points to it).
rather than what bigdelboy suspects is correct.
    1z0-051(or friends)+1z0-144(or 1z0-147)+1z0-146
Anyway bigdelboy wonders if mediaguy has been a little slow on the announcements or has bigdelboy totally misunderstood :D

Hello, core Tech Delivery Manager for UK here - Claire
Noticed your comments re new printed schedule - just to say Dates here correct at going to print, but things change as we go.
For exmaple - We also have a new partner in Ireland who's training dates can be found on IE education website on http://education.oracle.com, not on printed schedule.
New dates and courses come out all year (new Oracle 11g Weblogic middle tier courses will be next to hit the shelves, followed by 11gR2 New Features for Administrators etc)...so it is always best to use Printed schedule as a guide only, and it should entice you to our UK website for OU, to check latest dates, locations and prices, most of which should match ok...but there will be a lot more on website. You can also call +0845 777 7711.
You are right the PLSQL OCP is not on the printed schedule - I am glad they have added this though - the exam is currently in Beta from what I understand, but regardless I took the decision given the limited amount of space and huge variety of middleware offerings, to include more learning paths such as Java Developer, Web Admin and App Developer (you will see APLS listed as a course there, and I ensured it was one of the main listed unfer the DB&Lang section.)
We now teach 11g version of Advanced PLSQL.
Forms , Reports and Portal still have Customer Demand in UK and IE hence their inclusion too - not all companies have upgraded to latest Oracle technology yet, which is why we still run a lot of 10g based DB courses in parallel to 11g - most customers plan to upgrade from 9i/10g straight to 11gR2.
Hence, it is wise to include courses that will sell, not just the latest courses ..which could alienate potential customers of OU !
You are totally right about the exams though - I notice it should be 1z0-051(or friends)+1z0-144(or 1z0-147)+1z0-146 as you say below, so I have emailed marketing et al to see if Global will change the website (which is centrally controlled from US).
Do let us know anything else you can report, Id be happy to help if I can...though I wont leave my phone number on here if that's ok!

  • Professional development - OCA/OCP

    Hello
I'm looking at doing my OCA/OCP certifications and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions for good training companies to do them with in the UK?
I've had a look at QA Training, and they seem to be pretty good, and I know there's the oracle university.
I just want to make sure I do them with a reputable firm if it's not oracle themselves...
    Cheers

Exam order is not important, but you dont get certificates unless pre-requisites all met. The is an interesting cheap beta exam arround at present if you are up for it ... 1z0-144

The passwords are whatever they were set to when the database was created.
SQL Developer is just a client tool. It doesn't come with a database. It expects that you already have a database which it can connect to.
And putting your email address in a posting on a forum is A Very Bad Idea (tm). No on on the forum is going to respond to it, but a million address harvesters will sell it to spam sources. Expect to be flooded with email offers for the following
    1) products to enhance the size of certain body parts
    2) Nigerians who desperately need to move large sums of money and are willing to pay a total strangers for assistance.

  • Requirement for finishing OCA - Oracle 9i SQL-PLSQL

    Hi,
I am planning to give the OCA certification in SQL-PLSQL Oracle 9i.
Please let me know, after successful completion of both the SQL and PLSQL exams, do I also require to have the Oracle certified training to get the certificate from Oracle.
    On the below URL
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=152
There is no such mention. Howerver for OCP, it is required to have the training.
I called up few of the test centers and they all told me that I have to undergo the Oracle training, then only I will get the certificate. However, I dont feel that I need training to clear the OCA certification Oracle 9i.
Please confirm me on the requirement of training for getting the Certificate from Oracle on succesful completion of both SQL and PLSQL exams.
    Regards,

    Regards,
SaurabhFor PL/SQL OCA you do not require training to get the certification. Nor do you for PL/SQL OCP (For a lot of OCP's you do have to have training).
    - Of course Oracle would recommend ou have training.
Please note that the PL/SQL OCA and OCP certifications are non version specific.
With the best will in the world a (Pearson VUE) test center only really deals in exams, they do not deal in certifications.
However some Test Centers may also be associated with training establishments.
You may have been given mis-information for one of three reasons I can think of:
    1) They may have misunderstood your question.
    2) The may have genuinely not known the answer, and because DBA OCP needs training they may have thought and not checked Pl/SQL OCA needs it.
    3) They may have been fraudulently trying to sell you training you did not need.
You can always book the required exams online anyway.
BUT HOLD ON A SECOND ... ;-) ... BEFORE I SLANDER PEOPLE OFF: :-) [ There's meant to be a smiley here bu it keeps disappearing ]
The link you have given is for 9i DBA OCA/OCP .... and to get the 9i DBA OCP you DO need to have training.
The certification you have asked about is (9i) PL/SQL OCA/OCP ..... and the required page for that is here .....
    .... http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155

  • SQL Developer Script

    Dear buddies,
I need to migrate from SQL Server to Oracle. Please kindly guide me, how I can use the scripting options available in SQL Developer.
I clicked on Tools -> Migration -> Third Party Database Offline Capture - > Create Database capture Scripts and saved the scripts in a folder.
It generated 4 files as given below:
    OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.bat
    properties.sql
    sqlserver2005.ocp
    SS2K5_BCP_SCRIPT.bat
How should I use them? I should run then in Oracle or in SQL Developer?
I tried clicking on the bat file(OMWB_OFFLINE_CAPTURE.bat) and nothing happened. Not sure If I am doing the right thing.
Please guide me. I just need to move the tables along with its data.
    Thank You Very Much.

  • Sql developer migration time

    Hi,
One month back,I did migration of mysql to oracle using sql developer. It took around 2-3 hours to finish. But when I am again migrating the same database, the estimated time is around 150 hours. There were no big changes in the database in one month. Its taking a very long time to capture constraints.
    Scenario is as follows
    test(MySQL) --> test(Oracle schema) took 2-3 hours
test1(MySQL) --> hms(Oracle schema) ongoing from last 6 hours and expected finish time around 150 hoursPlease advise
    Thanx

    Hi,
I am unable to replicate the issues here.
I created a 500 table MySQL database with constraints on each table and it captured online quickly.
My only guess is there is some additional load on one of your machines which maybe slowing down the process?
As an alternative path, you could attempt the offline capture of your database.
    * Tools > Migration > Create Database Capture Script
    * Choose MySQL 5 windows or whatever suits
    * Run these scripts on your MySQL machine (with MySQL client) to dump out the databases metadata
    * Move all the files to your SQL Developer machine
    * Capture Offline the mysql5.ocp
Sorry I couldn't have been more help
    Regards,
    Dermot.
