OCA/OCP study guide

Hi All,
I have a question about the 1Z0-803 and 1Z0-804 exams study guides. what do you think? Is it OK to use "Sun certified programmer java 6 study guide by kathy sierra" as a study guide for OCA/OCP exams?

Yes the book is very good for 1Z0-803 exam along with oca 7 training lab. For OCPJP 7, we are yet to find study books.

Are you talking about a free link? I would certainly hope not-- such a link would almost certainly be to a pirated copy which would be both unethical and illegal.
Books24x7 and O'reilly's Safari are pay sites that provide online access to many technical books (Oracle Press also has a similar site). There is a good chance that one or both of these sites carry the book you're after.

Study guide for OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I, exam 1Z1-803

The exam I want to study for is a beta exam. I'm not sure if I should study for this beta exam or the old SE 6 exam. Thoughts?

I'm agree for the suppose that Oracle left the exam topics very vague !!!!!
If you want to prepare you must study on book based on java basics and you can prepare online Java 7 Api .
It's easy learn Java 7 i tried in 2 month and now is ok eheheh :)
A guide is not the same as a good book you can find online so much tutorials but you will learn more with a good book .
For me you can use tutorials only for base guide then you can learn more with a book

Oracle 9i OCA/OCP Exam

Hi,
I just want to know that is it compulsory to study in any prometric centre for appearing in all exams of 9i/10G? Someone told me that, i will not eligible to appear in exam, until and unless i am not student of any prometric centre. Is it right?
I am sorry, i do'nt know; whether i should post this query here or not?

Sir, Thanks you so much. I checked the link provided by you and there is nothing mentioned like "a person must be a student of prometric / oracle authorized centre, for eligible in 9i oca/ocp exam". It means, if i prepare myself and study the oracle, i am eligible to appear in the exam (no need to be student of prometric / oracle authorized, bocz this condition is no where mentioned).

I'm looking at doing my OCA/OCP certifications and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions for good training companies to do them with in the UK?
I've had a look at QA Training, and they seem to be pretty good, and I know there's the oracle university.
I just want to make sure I do them with a reputable firm if it's not oracle themselves...

There is no study guide specific to 1Z0-035 available. Since the test is being retired in a few months, it is unlikely there will be one created. You can find the relevant documentation and links to white papers and other material that can be used to prepare at the following URL:

I see that you asked this same question back in October of 2011 and apparently didn't follow through to upgrade your OCP:

1Z0-035 is being retired. After July 31st, if you have not upgraded your OCP, you will have to take the exam *1Z0-045: Oracle Database 10g DBA New Features for Oracle8i OCPs*. There is also no study guide specific to this exam.

I'm a student and Just finished my java course. I planning to take the Java Certified Associate SE 5/6 Exam 1Z0-850 ASAP. My questions:
1) Is there a study guide available for this (thought I could fine OCA SE7 which will be released only on Aug 2012. Can't wait that long)? is
2) I read that there's no pre-req for this exam or is there?

You may choose whatever test preparation you feel more comfortable with. But I suggest you to setup a practical test environment where you can test all features according to the topic guide provided by oracle at the Oracle Certification site, you can find it by following the certification link at http://education.oracle.com . Besides I suggest you to document each topic with the official documentation manuals from oracle.

Are there more study resources (other than official Oracle book and Oracle Certification Prep summary) in pipeline or on market?The Oracle Press series isn't really 'from' Oracle, but rather is from McGraw Hill, so 'official' is a strong word to use. I know that Oracle provides some materials to the authors, but not the extent or type. There are very few authors/publishers that compete with Oracle Press in writing Oracle certification books. The three tests required for the DBA OCP (SQL, DBA1, DBA2) will normally generate competing books from Sybex and sometimes Packt. Beyond those tests, however, unless Oracle Press writes a certification guide, normally no one else does (and if Oracle Press writes a guide, then especially no one else does). This lack of certification materials for Oracle tests is a large portion of the reason I started writing my guides. Even then, one of the primary reasons why I designed them as a series of study guides rather than full-blown soup-to-nuts manuals is to avoid 'competing' with Oracle Press. I'd lose that fight, so I avoid it.
What I'm getting at (in a very roundabout way), is that I consider it very unlikely that another publisher will come out with a manual for 1Z0-047. The exam has been in production since early 2008 and the Oracle Press book has been out since late 2009. I don't think anyone is writing another one.

Where to buy the study guide for Oracle Forms Developer 9i or 10g

Hi, I am learning Oracle Forms Developer Build Internet Application. I am comfortable with SQL and PL SQL. I need authenticate Oracle Study Guide for Forms Developer which will help me in learning basics to advance level but I cannot afford the classroom course, it is beyond my pocket capacity. So I would like to know if Oracle sell only the study guides. I inquired at Book Shops in my area but did not get any help.

Most likely, it doesn't matter too much. I doubt that most employers are terribly concerned with what recent version of Oracle you have a certification on.
That said, if it matters
- What does your organization use? What are their plans to upgrade? If your company still uses 9.2 primarily and has plans to upgrade to 10.2 this year, you're probably better off with a 10g certification. If your company is already running mostly 11.2, you're probably better off with an 11g certification.
- What do most employers in your particular part of the world tend to use? What do job postings in your particular part of the world generally list?

Sybex Linux+ Study Guide

Hey,
I am studying for my Linux+. I got the Sybex book because I used them in the early 2000's and liked them. They used to give you a PDF on a CD as well that you could use which was handy if you didn't have your book with you. It was also handy because you could zoom it in (since I wear bifocals now)
They don't offer the PDF any more. Any other good study guides that come as e-book or PDF?
