I dont understand the relationship between cheating and solving these companies exam preparation kits.If you do not understand do not use these companies, go through the links below.
Many people on the world who has OCA -OCP were studied with these packs. How people know where do they for taking exam?If you have specific information please report to Oracle fraud reporting. Goto [Cheating part seven|http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2008/12/cheating_part_7_what_can_you_a.html] and there is a link to Oracle fraud reporting where specific instances of cheating should be reported (not general cases).
I studied on 2 books for sql fundementals I exam..I finished all the topics and i want to test myself?Well done. You dont say what the books were, but the more obvious ones you might have used some come with quite a lot of test questions in the book and on cdrom which are fairly realistic.
Oracle supply any sample exam questions for these exams? I want to see question types?on oracle web site i found sample exam questiosn part while searching on google.but i think that this page removed. When i click the link it redirects me to oracle university page.......
As part of your study process you should be becoming familiar with the layout and what information is available on the oracle website and how to navigate the oracle website. It may be difficult to work effectively without knowing this. In the meanwhile try these links:
    (1) [http://education.oracle.com/] - then goto 'Certification' from the left hand menu ... you should end up at (2)
    (2) [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=39]
    From Here you can go:

    - You can get authorized practice tests from here
(2b) Top Menu - 'Exams- List All Exams:' [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=42]

  • Installing Oracle 11g Express Edition

    Hello,
I am a little new to this, but I'm trying to install a local database server onto my laptop to use for my OCA preparations...
I was hoping someone can explain what I'm doing wrong... I'll try and provide as much information as I can.
I downloaded Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/express-edition/downloads/index.html) and installed it... Unzipped the file to Disk 1 folder and ran setup.exe. Got the prompted and left everything with their default values and the install went fine.
Tried to run the "Get Started With Oracle Database 11g Express Edition" from my desktop and it tries to open up APEX on 127.0.0.1:8080 and that fails (cannot establish a connection).
I tried starting up the database with the command provided in the Oracle Database 11g Express Edition folder and then went to "Run SQL Command Line". Tried to connect to the database with system/<password> and it returns an ORA-01089 error - immediate shutdown in progress.
I have already installed Oracle - OraHome92 in the past for work on the machine as just a client...
Is this simply an issue of restarting the computer to get all of the services working properly?
Do I need to install the full blown 11g database from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html instead?
I just want to be able to create the simple schemas and tables that the textbook says are provided and not do it on the company servers...
Any information or links to getting this set up would be greatly appreciated.
If you need me to provide any more details, I will do my best and give you the information as well...
Thank you very much in advance for your time.
    Regards,
    Ivan

    Hi Ivan,
I think in you're case its better to keep with the Express edition. You could have it on you're notebook everywhere, It's not so heavy and doesn't requires a lot of space, but you still have all the Oracle database behaviour.
Regarding the Apex URL you should put one /apex/ at the end of the URL and then login with admin and password you've entered during installation.
Regarding the error this means that the database is in progress of shutting down. Open command prompt and run adrci (Automatic Diagnostic Repository Command Interface), then type show alert and then select the number 1 (should be something like diag/rdbms/xe/XE). Once the new windows opens up scroll to the bottom and you'll see the last event which occurred in the database.
Either way you could try restarting you're computer and then start the service when it boots up.
    Regards,
    Sve

  • Development License

    Dear Friends,
I am fully new to oracle world. As a first step for my OCA preparation, I downloaded oracle 10g release 1 for linux x86. Today I installed it on Redhat Enterprise Linux AS3 as a Enterprise full installation. My purpose is only to study oracle for the exam. Enterprise manager telling me my oracle is under trial and I have 30 days as well as I cannot use many options. How I can obtain a development or trial licence for my installation to use it as a full functional. Please advice me.

You don't need any license. You already accepted the development license when you downloaded oracle DB (you read that 'few' lines didn't you) , but the EM doesn't know that.
Just ignore the message - nothing will happen. Neither will the EM stop working nor will the police attack your house ;)
You should be able to use all functions the EM and Oracle Ent. Version provides.

  • Preparing for Oracle OCA 11g using an Oracle Express 10g database

As a software application developer, I have been considering Oracle certification for a while to enhance my skill set. Unfortunately I don't have access to a commercial Oracle installation, and would like to use a free version of Oracle Express during my studies. The latest OCA courses largely focus on Oracle 11g, and it would appear that there is no free (Express) 11g database available yet.
Could anyone please advise me whether it would be possible and practical to prepare for the 1Z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I and 1Z0-052 Oracle Database 11g: Administration I exams using an Oracle Express 10g database instance, while accompanied by the relevant Oracle 11g study material? In other words, is the overlap between Oracle 10g and 11g sufficient that a solid understanding of 10g could allow me to successfully sit the 11g exams? Furthermore, would the Express edition of the database provide sufficient functionality to prepare for the Administration exam?

For 1z0-052 the situation is different. Oracle 10g express edition hides some of the administration tasks ... you really need to be using 11g.
If you dont waht Oracle 11g all over your regular machine then I would typically recommend install Oracle Enterprise Linux either on a spare machine with a dual core or HT processor and with 2GB or more of memory (eg Dell gx280 or better); or using a virtualisation solution on your current machine (ram would need to be 3GB or higher) (eg virtualbox or whatever ... though windows as a guest can have a license issue).

    Good day,
I received my OCA several years ago (in 2004) and just now finally have the motivation to continue on towards OCP. I'm a developer and I would be pursuing PL/SQL Developer certification. I'm wondering if there is a timline in which my OCA is "too old" and I would need to re-test? or am I good to continue and prepare for the 1Z0-146 exam?
I'm taking the new <u>Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL</u> to refresh my knowledge of some of the features of PL/SQL that I haven't had the opportunity to use; and then intend to take the Advanced PL/SQL class as part of my preparation.
I just don't want to have to start over with the tests. I'm not a big fan of CBT's so if I can avoid a re-take, I'd like that.
    Thanks,
Don.In Oracle exams/certifications once gained remain forever. So your certification wont be 'too old'.
However you must ensure it is a PL/SQL developer OCA (gained via 1z0-147 + an SQL exam) or it may not be a valid pre-requisite for the PL/SQL OCP. (Viz a DBA OCA would not satisfy, nor would a 1z0-101 as far as i am aware).
    In general http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155 is authorative.

Hey guys, I don't want to run too far away for the original topic here. (Sabdar I am reading your page with great interest) aside from the need to know WHAT to study, I am wondering where to begin? 9i, 10g or 11i? Is it best to learn 9i then the others in sequence or does it matter at all.
Keep in mind I am new to oracle and looking to learn so I can improve my job circumstance. I have been working IT help desk jobs since 2000, went through A+, and have a Win2K MCP. I worked a little with oracle back in 2003 (I believe we were using 8i) but really only scratched the surface of installation and setting up workstations to access existing databases.Phew
... well the link below shows Oracle offering about 7 OCA certifications in a number of categories.
... I think from your posts your probably more interested in the Database administrator ones....
... Unfortunately I am not sure an Oracle Database Administrator OCA will improve your job prospects, because you wont demonstrator the experience to back it up.
... If you do decide to with Oracle some that route concentrate on a 1z0-007 or 1z0-051 exam first then decide where ou are going.
... If you want to brush up your preliminary sql skills for nothing online the look at [http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp], that is a safe website with regard to certification.
... If you still want to learn database skill ignore certification path initially but loouk the the oracle 2 day dba tutorials.
Please remember in my opinion everything in my earlier post remains valid. Oracle univeristy training is usually best.
I would also suggest you review if you should consider the folloing certifications:
    ITIL v3 foundation.
CMA (MySQL) : This is currently being taken over by sun and then I presume oracle. Prehaps no way as prestigous as an oracle but a nice little interim certification nonetheless.
    ISEB testing foundation.

  • Preparation for OCA

    Hi,
I have got my Oracle licensed training eKit 10g Workshop-I and Workshop-II from Oracle today and everything seems legit.
My question was, will 11g also be available as an eKit fom Oracle for an ask ?
Also, I'm in preparation of 11g OCA exam firstly and so I guess Workshop-I is mainly for OCA (which includes both SQL Fundamentals 1 and Admin I papers ) while Workshop-II (which includes Admin II paper) is solely for 11g OCP certification right ?
    Source: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:Datab11g

@Bigleboy : Thanks for ur reply. I just have one more question if I may ask,
All I meant was the installation in simple words :)Again this is better asked on the Linux ( or perhaps Oracle Installation forums) where there are a few people you are particularly up to speed on this. ( I've been more solaris than OEL, or OL as they like to call it now recently). OLx.x can sometimes be exacting in its requirement for Oracle Database installations, getting the right packages installed, firewall and SELinux overcome (or disabled). In particular OL6.x had challenges for an Oracle Database Installs. And earlier (unpatched) versions of the database on newer OS versions may also have issues, which is why I am cautious (and perhaps over cautious) of 10gR2 on OEL6 { I haven't researched it }. I recall guides from Jeff Hunter and others being useful in times gone by, and have not researched whether these remain valid.
From a certification point of view (esp. for DBA's) however this is a useful reminder to:
    - Find and check original documentation, release notes. ( They really aren't that bad most of the time, and a DBA needs to do this, at least sometimes they are clearer and better than some guides, once you know where look. Part of the certification journey should be practicing doing this ).
    - The DBA should be prepared to read his installation documentation and release notes carefully, and respect version pre-requisites ( or prepare for a life of service outages ).

  • Preparation for Oracle 10g OCA and OCP exams

    Hi all,
I am studying for my first Oracle 10g OCA exam. Thus far, I have the Transcender exam prep software and book from Oracle Press for the OCA/OCP exams with Oracle 10g. With a test Oracle 10g database to practice on while I study, am I on the right path?
    Thanks

Use the http://education.oracle.com OR http://otn.oracle.com as your portal - you'll see the Certification link on either one. From the Certification page you will be able to drill down to the objectives and requirements of the exam. I suggest you use that as a checklist, as the various books and sample exams have been known to include mistakes or miss items.
In addition, you should be familiar with the first few chapters of the Oracle Concepts manual and also, preferably, the first few chapters of the DB Admin Guide - both available from http://tahiti.oracle.com
