OCA schedule advise

Hi,
I recently got the exam preparation guides for both 1Z0-051 (SQL) and 1Z0-052 (Administration I) exams and was taking a brief look at indexes to figure out time for preparing these exams.
I would like advice from someone that passed them about time taken to get ready for the tests.
I never worked as a database admin but have some database knowledge from degree course in IT. SQL looks more affordable to me and administration a bit more though.
Do you think that a couple or three of months of study and practising on a daily basis would be enough for each exam?

SQL looks more affordable to me and administration a bit more though. I don't think that anyone would disagree with the statement that 1Z0-051 is a good bit easier than 1Z0-052, so I would definitely recommend taking it first. It will gain you familiarity with both Oracle and with the exam environment.

I don't know how fast you read. I don't know how good your reading comprehension is. I don't know how good of a test taker you are. These three things (and many others) can vastly change the amount of preparation time from one individual to another. I will say that I am a speed reader (although technical books slow me down a bit), with a high reading comprehension and I am very good at standardized tests of all kinds. That said, I generally allocate four to six weeks to study for a new certification. I wrote an article on this topic here:

Given what you've indicated about your experience, I'd say that four to six months for the two is reasonable. 1Z0-051 will likely consume a bit less than half of that and 1Z0-052 a bit more. That said, while there is no problem setting a 'soft' time frame for taking the tests (i.e. a date you plan to take it), don't take the test on that date if you feel you still aren't ready. It makes no sense to take the test and possibly fail it simply because you want to meet an artificial deadline.

Did you try looking at the Administrator username and password in the Job Manager Configuration screen?
The error message "Authentication failed for Administrator in repository Star: invalid user/password" simply says that the userID and password do not match the same settings in the repository.

Thanks for this. A couple of things come to mind. First, it looks like you may have done more than one installation of the Discoverer 10g Admin / Desktop Install and it also looks as though you have an older Discoverer sitting out there, presumably a Discoverer 4 version. How did I spot this?
Firstly, the name you are using for you 10g installation is BIToolsHome_2. This tells me that you either have 2 or you had a failed install number 1. If you happen to be calling the executable from the first install with the PATH set to the second install this will cause a problem.
Secondly, Discoverer 4 always installs using the ORANT folder.
I am not sure what you have inside d:\oracle\bin or even in c:\oracle\discoverer\bin. These could definitely be causing problems elsewhere but probably not impacting Discoverer 10.
10g Discoverer Admin / Desktop needs these 4 entries in the path and these are there, albeit againt BIToolsHome_2 and not 1:
C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin;
C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jlib;
C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;
C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\jre\1.4.2\bin;
First things first, we need to verify that you don't have an old version 1 hanging around.
Right-click on the icon to start Admin. In your case it should look like this: C:\Oracle\BIToolsHome_2\bin\dis51adm.exe
Right-click on the icon to start Desktop. It should look like this: C:\Oracle\BIToolsHome_2\bin\dis51usr.exe
Please verify the above and let me know if everything looks right.

OCA 1Z0-042 ( 10g Admin-I ) Schedule

I have completed my first paper of ORACLE 10g certification i,e 1Z0-007 (Intro to SQL) in the month of April. I want to appear for the nest paper i,e 1Z0-042(10g Admin-I) in the month of july. The major issue is that i am not sure with the dates of the exam. I have to make some more plans in the same month for my education.
Can you people guide me where can i get to know the exact date of my exam(1Z0-042) so that i can prepare for it and plan my other stuff's.
On the same path can you people please guide me how to prepare for OCA 1Z0-042 exam so i can score the best in it.

The best answer you may have is that 1z0-007 was taken online and that the proctored exam is a little different, or maybe you were in some form of education institution and you didnt realise for they set you up.

Quite frankly the process I go through is to go to the prometric website and go through as if I was going to book an exam but cancel out at the point when i had an idea of the availability of exams at close by prometric centers. Some close to me only operate a few days a month, others are available virtually 5 days a week. (All subject to availability).

Taking Oracle university course is the best preparation method in my opinion. It is however not necessarily the cheapest.

Multiple phones share one Icloud account. We use it to schedule jobs and crew leaders read the cloud to get the information of the job that needs to be done. However, we recently had a change of leadership and we think this person might have logged into or put our cloud on his phone to sabotage our business. I changed the password but that didn't fix the situation. I could put a job on the cloud with an old phone that was logged in with the old password and everyone with the new password would still see the job. I have since created a whole new cloud account which seems to have eliminated the "future" issue of sabotage however I would like to completely eliminate that old account...any advise?

Everyone needs to go to Settings (or System Preferences)>iCloud and click 'Delete account' or 'Sign out' as applicable (it's the same thing). Then they can sign into the new account you have created and proceed from there. You can't actually delete the old account from the server but you can just ignore it.

Internal error occurs in background job scheduling

Hi Experts,
We are facing an error message "Internal error occurs in background job scheduling" while trying to execute a custom report(Z report) in background in SA38.
Please find the following observation on our side on this message.
1) This message is not coming for only one report not for others.
2) SU53 screen shot shows that SE38 check is failed, but the weird thing is not happening for other report.
3) Persons having SE38 auhtorization are able to run this report.

According to its business logic, the scheduling agreement is a document that has already been released by purchasing department, and its scheduling lines, that have been created by MRP are valid for goods receipt without any need for additional purchasing processing time. However, MRP scheduling incorrectly takes purchasing processing time into account (as defined in the IMG in plant parameters for external procurement - TCODE OPPQ) when calculating planned availability date. Please advise how to correct this issue.

PO print out of delivery schedule

Suppose I am generating a PO , in some cases I will be giving delivery schedule for some items in item details.
I want this to come in the print out.
But its not coming .

Exchange 2010 GAL Export script working from EMS but not as a scheduled task

I have been asked to get a script together to export the GAL on an Exchange 2010 server and then email it to a manager. I have been playing it with days, and have pruned it to the very minimum to at least try and get it working before improving it. At the
moment I have the text as below:

This works just fine in Exchange Management Shell and deletes the previous report before creating a new one. However, when I set it up as a scheulded task, it does nothing.
The task is set up as follows:
Action - Start a Program
Program/ Script C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\PowerShell.exe
Add arguments -version 2.0 -NonInteractive -WindowStyle Hidden -command ". 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\RemoteExchange.ps1'; Connect-ExchangeServer -auto; d:\Scripts\GalExportReport.ps1"
This is set to run under my administrator account with the highest privileges and I have the logon as batch right.
Unfortunately, when I run it as a scheduled task, nothing happens. The last run result is (0x0) and in the history it says 'task completed', but no report is produced. Can anyone advise please?

Does it delete the c:\GALexport.csv file? If not, then its not even executing the ps1 script...
- Open cmd prompt and run below command to confirm that there isn't any typo or any other small error...

SQL Report Builder 3.0 Automatic Scheduling feature ?

We have installed and commissioned a HMI SCADA solution for Shell Petroleum South Africa, We are using Copa Data Zenon for our HMI solution, Zenon's historian are writing variable values into a SQL database from where we are reading these variables with
I-net Clear Reports.
However, I net Clear Reports uses a "PLUS" license which is used for the scheduling function. The license is priced based on the amount of CPU Cores the server has and ours has 16 cores so the license is extremely expensive.
What we need :
To create a report with values from a SQL Database.
Report must be able to be scheduled, to run at specific time.
I have done some testing and used the same SQL queries we used in I-net clear reports.
SQL Report Builder 3.0 does get the variable values when you hit "run" , but it does not look like there is an automatic report scheduling function ? We want to execute a daily , weekly & monthly report.
Does a Scheduling feature exist ?? Please advise

Report Builder 3.0 is just a report authoring tool.You can design and preview the report with Report Builder,or you can publish your report to a report server or a report server in SharePoint integrated mode, where others can run it. There is no schedule
running function in Report Builder which can processing the report automatically.
SQL Server Reporting Services Standard edition or high edition support email and file share subscriptions and scheduling. You can create subscriptions that can automatic running the report based on a schedule(daily , weekly or monthly ) and send reports
to a shared folder or to an e-mail address.

How To Schedule a Concurrent Request on completion of a Spawned Request

As soon as the concurrent request submitted through Oracle Form(Consolidation Transfer)is completed we need to schedule another Concurrent Request which had to be kicked off automatically on completion of the First concurrent request. Since, the First concurrent request of Consolidation Transfer is a Spawned Program, the request set could not be created, to kick off the second concurrent program.
I would Appreciate if anyone can advise any solution to achieve this objective.

Doesn't matter what you need to do all you need is the hook!
a) Nice. Force the request to print and use print driver to call CONCSUB to submit your new "child" request
-- Since the Consolidation Trasnfer concurrent request could only be submitted through Consolidation Trasnfer Form only, I am not sure how we can do Force Print for this request.
GR: Set printer and style on concurrent program definition. Set profile option "Concurrent:Report Copies" to 1 (even by Forms Personalization if you want to). Sorted. Still think this is the best option.
c) Abstraction. Replace the C executable with a shell script that takes arguments and calls the C program and then submits new "child" request via CONCSUB

GR: Change the executable on the concurrent program to a host shell script under your mods application. Initially just get the shell script to capture program call and arguments. Run the program to get arguments. Next iteration, change shell script to call the C program from your shell script with correct arguments. Verify okay. Next iteration do the same plus call CONCSUB to submit request / set.
d) Nasty. Trigger on fnd_concurrent_requests to call new "child" request via fnd_request.submit_request - NB: very unsupported! Make sure trigger doesn't raise an exception.
-- On completion of the Consolidation Transfer concurrent request, we tried to submit the request set using the Trigger on Consolidation History table and/or fnd_concurrent_requests table. But it is entering into infinite loop.
GR: Need to use trigger condition to capture update of status_code to C (Completed) and other codes e.g. Warning. Personally I'd avoid this option because you have others! Although once I did use this method when I wanted absolute transparency :-)
Update: Changed "Print: Copies" to "Concurrent:Report Copies"

Schedule a Webi report from the CMC

Is there a way to schedule a Webi report from the CMC without using an email account in the
'from' box? There are other placeholders that can be used but I don't know how
to use them please advise.

You need to make sure you configure the proper email server. Go to the CMC - Server > AdaptiveJobServer>Destination>Email. You may need to enable Email as one of the Destinations.
You must configure all the HIGHLIGHTED options.

Unable to edit values of Unused paramters while scheduling a report in Infoview

I have a crystal report which is using a Cascading Dynamic Parameter (LOV in BVM) e.g. Country -> State > City.
I have not used Parameter Country anywhere in my report formulas but have used State and City.
When I publish the report on BO Repository, I get prompted for all the parameters when I select View on Demand. However When I try to schedule an instance of the same report It becomes Unused Parameters and am not able to edit their values.
Can you please advise me on this, how can I Schedule an instance of this report.

You are correct that it shows all the prompts but only when we run the report either directly from the CR Designer or via View on Demand in Infoview/CMC.
But if I try to schedule an instance of this report, I am getting a check box in the parameter section which says "Show unused parameters" to see this dyanamic prompt. And When I check that box in Infoview still I am not able to select any value for this prompt as it's greyed out.
Hope I am able to explain my query to you.

A collections of questions on scheduling information

Hello, I am doing some research on QoS management, and I need much scheduling information. So I got some questions.
1 Based on the oracle scheduler, I want to design my own scheduler(non-preempt). That is, once a job is finished, the scheduler need to schedule new jobs based on some job information. So how can i design such a scheduler? I think it should be a job in the database, but it is neither periodic nor event-based.
2 Each time my scheduler runs, it probably schedule a same job to run. If the former instance of this job has not completed, the new instance will be skipped. How can I disable the former instance and let the new instance run?
3 I will configure a periodic job which will collect all of the statistic data at the beginning of each period. How can I read the duration time of each job which has been completed? I know I can read the duration time from ALL_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS,but the accuracy of the duration time in that view is only second. I need better accuracy. Another problem is, if a job has completed several instances in the last period, how can i differentiate them from each other. Because all of the instance number is 1.
4 And also, I need to know how much CPU time all of the jobs in the last period have consumed. How can I know the cpu time of each instance of each job?(not only the jobs which have completed but also those jobs which are running.) (because I need add them together and write some algorithm to control it not exceed 80% of the period.)

instance run? The Scheduler does not allow multiple instances of the same job to run. If you want multiple instances of your action to run you need to create a scheduler program and then you can have multiple jobs pointing to that program. Those jobs can happily run in parallel

Scheduling agreement to Delivery Document

Dear All Gurus,
I am facing an issue, please advise it is the standard system functionality, if yes tell me the work around.
I have a schedulin gagreement with two schedule lines for say 23.03.2010 Qty 5, and 24.03.2010 Qty 5.
As per my business scenario fluctuation occur i deliveries.
on 23.03.2010 delivery change from 5 to 6 units system process is accordingly.
but when i see the scheduling agreement system have following satus
Date            Delivery Qty
23.03.2010      5
24.03.2010      1
when 24th of march still not come, system not only adjust the quantitywith te next date but also transfer the extra quantity to the next date.
and when i will start delivery for the 24.03.2010 system by default shows me the 4 qty.
If for the time being i accept it is the standard functionlity, and if some one ask me the qty delivery on 23.03.2010 system shows it 5, but as per senario actual quantity delivred is 6 on the 23rd march.
I want that system only call the schedule quantity, and if there is fluctuation system cater it against the same delivery date. new delivery date come fresh with its actual as per correct scheduling agreement.
Requesting you to pls try it from you end, and send me your valuable feedback.
Might have some issue in my system, or can tell the control area if any where i can cntrol it.
