Occasional 100% CPU on 2811 doing T.37 fax

Hi,
We support many 2811 gateways at customer sites, all handling T.37 fax (almost entirely onramp) and nothing else.  Occasionally we see bursts of the following in the logs, showing that incoming fax calls are being rejected due to high CPU:
Sep 12 12:07:14.980 CDT: %IVR-3-LOW_CPU_RESOURCE: IVR: System experiencing high cpu utilization (96/100).
     Call (callID=1365621) is rejected.
Sep 12 12:07:20.864 CDT: %IVR-3-LOW_CPU_RESOURCE: IVR: System experiencing high cpu utilization (96/100).
     Call (callID=1365622) is rejected.
Sep 12 12:07:50.564 CDT: %IVR-3-LOW_CPU_RESOURCE: IVR: System experiencing high cpu utilization (98/100).
     Call (callID=1365625) is rejected.
In the above example, the logs continued for about 7 minutes.  A 'show processes cpu history' was done about half an hour after the event and showed this in the 'last 60 minutes' graph:
                                 11111111

              * = maximum CPU%   # = average CPU%
Most recent CPU is on the left, so this shows that the CPU was ramping up over a period of 20-25 minutes, remained at 100% for about 8 minutes, then abruptly dropped back to normal.  Uptime was 30 weeks when this happened.  Because it's so infrequent and we have no way to reproduce it, it's unlikely that we'll be able to grab diags while the CPU is at 100%.
The IOS version is 12.4(25f), running on a 2811 with the NM-HDV2-2T1/E1 board and the PVDM2-48 DSP card.  The DSP firmware is overridden to 26.4.501 due to previous issues with out-of-spec tones and outbound fax not working.  It has 512MB memory and 128MB flash.  I see there's a 12.4(25g) IOS version available, but the caveats list doesn't seem to contain anything relevant.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this?  A rogue fax?  Is IOS 15 likely to help?  Some of the fax gateways we support only have 256MB memory so won't be able to go to IOS 15 easily.
Suggestions appreciated -- thanks in advance.

  • 10.5.2 installed, mount-msdos 100% cpu

So.. I installed Os 10.5.2 on my macbook.. after 20-30 seconds, activity monitor shows system at 100% CPU.. Doing a ps -ef, shows MOUNT-MSDOS and parent proces launchd using up 100% of one the processors. It makes the machine completely unusable. I booted to a super duper backup and mv /sbin/mount-msdos to mount-msdos.bak and rebooted and the machine works.
While it's not the optimal solution, i can use the mac.. Any got any idea how to fix this?

    Exactly the same....
    Hi
I've got exactly the same problem, although not sure if it occurred after the the graphics update. I took my macbook into the apple store in regents st, and the very help Genius guy Rob was stumped. He thought it could be related to either VMWare Fusion (i'm on version 1.1.1) or the fact that i had partitioned using bootcamp.
It's fine in Safe mode (hold down the shift when booting till the spinning thing), because only the core stuff is loaded.
I have tried uninstalling VMWare, i've rebuilt twice back to 10.5.0 using the "keep archive" (interestly my profile password failed both times and luckly i had another test admin profile without a pw (created in the store) so that i could reset my pw... so do the same).
Machine seems fine up until the 10.5.2 patch...
Apparently the reinstall should overwrite everything, and Rob was reasonably certain this would sort it... so it's pointing to the service pack.
Can anyone recommend a good tool to trace what is running this process?
Reviewing in console and drilling-down ends nowhere.
Given that it is mount_msdos - the only obvious things i can think of is VMWare, bootcamp and some lousy Maxtor drive sw that never worked in 10.5....
What msdos/fat32 etc stuff other than the vanilla apple install do you have installed on your mac?
    Cheers
    Ja

  • Why does my iWork update hang with zsh consuming 100% cpu?

The App Store updates for iWork Apps (Numbers, Keynote, Pages) have hung for me multiple times.  After some digging, the hangs appear related to setting zsh as my default shell (Open Directory UserShell /bin/zsh).  When an update is hung in App Store, Activity Monitor shows zsh is consuming ~100% cpu.  Inspecting the process, it's hung on zsh -c defaults delete com.apple.helpd com.apple.helpd.sdmMapsCreated or something similar each time.  If I kill the hung process enough times, eventually the update completes.
Most recently encountered updating to Numbers 3.5.2 on OS X 10.10.1 with $SHELL=/bin/zsh 5.0.5 (x86_64-apple-darwin14.0).
Possibly related to keynote not installing.
Definitely related to http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/146919/zsh-using-100-of-cpu-during-iwor k-install.  The workaround described here is the only way I've gotten through it.

You probably deleted something crucial to the stability of the operating system. I suggest backing up your important files, and doing a complete reinstall.

  • Why does iTunes use 100% CPU all the time, hogging my Macbook Air?

Decided to post this here instead of the iTunes forum, since it might be related to hardware too.
New owner of a 2011 13" Macbook Air, core i5 based.
My problem started about 1 week ago, after it had run out of power completely one day. At the first boot after that it was incredibly sluggish, totally unusable. After waiting for 5 minutes and still being unresponsive, I turned it off and then back on. Then it booted fine. HOWEVER, ever since that time I noticed the following behavior:
    - iTunes stays at 100% + CPU all the time, mostly between 100-120%. Even if it's not playing. Even when I deleted the entire library and left it empty.
    - iStats reports CPU idle between 50-65%. However, CPU temperature is still about 55 degrees C (which, I think, is far less than what it should have been with 50% idle cpu). I can confirm the low temperature by touching the chasis.
    - the cursor freezes and jumps every few seconds, making the mac kind of unusable with iTunes open.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now. The problem goes away every now and then (iTunes sometimes goes back to regular CPU usage of 3-5%), but most of the time it's there.
    Help!
    P.S.
    Mac OX X 10.7.2
    iTunes 10.5.2

Cee Pee You, is a OS modification. Apple recommends that you un-install these prior to a OS update because Apple makes changes to the OS all the time which breaks programs like these.
I avoid Unsanity LLC products like the plague. Notice the company is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), which makes it difficult to sue the company in case of a defective or malicious product. So the risk using their products is all yours. Their APE framework modules have been used for malicious purposes because anyone can write a module that uses the APE framework.
I also avoid installing anything that requires a administrative password unless I completely trust the source, like Apple mostly. That admin password is the key to the security of our machines, not to be given out lightly or carelessly.
You'll have to contact Unsanity's [email protected] because what I'm reading online is it's very difficult to remove as it doesn't "exist".

  • 100% CPU usage... does anyone else get this?

Here is my code. I would have simplidied it for you... but I honestly have no idea where it went wrong.
One second it is running fine, the next it starts taking up 100% of my CPU cycles. I can't figure out what I did to it to make it do this... nothing I added creates an infinite loop or infinite threads. It's just... weird.
The code is probably too big for anyone to look at and tell me what's wrong, but can someone else download it and tell me if you also get 100% CPU usage? It needs to be run on Windows... it uses a couple JNI calls that are Windows-specific. Those calls were the first place I looked when trying to find the problem, but I have not changed that part of the code for a long time, and it has never been a problem before.
Don't run the bat file... just navigate to the Watchdog2 directory and do 'java Watchdog'.
Are there any tools that can help me figure out where the program is getting hung up? It's not freezing at any specific spot... just moving super slow and taking up 100% of my CPU. I'm so confused...

    Nevermind!
Sorry for the trouble. The problem was that last time I compiled the code, it reverted back to and older version of a class I had compiled days ago. Why it did this is totally beyond me... but it did, and it just so happens that the old version of that class combined with the new version of my program were the perfect recipe for an infinite loop.
Seriously, if you are in inveterate debugger, you might get a good laugh out of this. I've spent the last week and a half trying to find a way to set the Windows console into cbreak mode (single character processing rather than line-at-a-time processing), and I finally managed to do it by writing some c code and putting it into a DLL with the JNI. So now my program (which runs from the console) can process each character as it is entered rather than waiting for a line return. The older version of the class that got reverted was one that used System.in rather than the input stream generated by the socket. I had set it to System.in for testing purposes, and apparently that testing version is the one it got reverted back to. So combine the two, and you have a console that is feeding System.in each character as it is pressed and a socket wrapper that is listening infinitely. It was a mess... but an uncannily serindipitous mess...
    Ahh... debugging... good time...

  • Openssl@100%cpu on MBP mid. '09

    Hello,
I searched the forums but couldn't find a similar problem. As the title suggests I am on a MacBook Pro 15" mid '09 running OS X ver. 10.9.5 (2.8 GHz Core2Duo, 8 GB RAM, NVidia 9600M GT) and occasionally openssl will hit ~ 90-100% CPU utilization. It will stay that way until I force quit the openssl process using Terminal or Activity Monitor. This has happened a few times now but it is not predictable and sometimes there are weeks between those events.
I can't say what events start the openssl process and I don't know what openssl is doing with that CPU time, but it has apparently no negative effects on other apps I am running because they behave just fine after I forcequit openssl. However, it really get annoying over time and I'd like to know what is causing this.
I tried running iosnoop dtrace script and get a few lines like these:
UID   PID D    BLOCK   SIZE       COMM PATHNAME
        0     0 W  2555344   8192 kernel_task ??/<unknown (NULL v_parent)>/<unknown (NULL v_name)>
        0     0 W  2555440   8192 kernel_task ??/<unknown (NULL v_parent)>/<unknown (NULL v_name)>
        0     0 W  2557376   8192 kernel_task ??/<unknown (NULL v_parent)>/<unknown (NULL v_name)>
        0     0 W  2558704   8192 kernel_task ??/<unknown (NULL v_parent)>/<unknown (NULL v_name)>
But CPU-wise the kernel_task behaves nicely and iosnoop won't show anything regarding openssl.
    Kind regards,
    pol'ar

The MBP will run very hot after openssl is at 100% CPU after a while.
Other processes can't use the CPU time openssl is using, which leaves them lagging or slow to respond, too.
Also, my MBP isn't running a webserver which would get thousands of SSL requests, so I don't see a valid reason for heavy openssl usage if I am not generating any certificates, which I am not, and I am not downloading/decrypting much data, only regular browsing (on Opera 25.0.1614.50 and Firefox 33.0 but they underwent a few updates since the first time the problem occurred), so I don't see a valid reason there either.
In my initial post I forgot to add:
    $ openssl version
    OpenSSL 1.0.1i 6 Aug 2014
It is basically the same as: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2086896
    But it's like: https://xkcd.com/979/

  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn - DNS issue, hundreds of UDP connections affects my router 100% CPU usage

    Hi all,
We've bought about ten pieces (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn), tested only one the other 9 are waiting for their time to be sent in our branch offices. The MFP works fine, no complains till later that day I noticed that our Mikrotik Router was struguling with high CPU usage, it took me some time to find the issue and it was the new bought MFP. Don't know why but it creates hundreds of UDP connections and almost 100% CPU usage goes to DNS service. As soon as I shutdown the MFP and delete all the connections everything goes back to normal. I've disabled almost all services (HP web service, Ipv6, SNMP, AirPrint, SLP, LPD, WS-Discovery, Bonjour), leaving only Ipv4 but without luck the issue persists. • This new version of FireFox is making me nutz! It is SUCKING 100% CPU time almost constantly. I could just pull my hair out. I wpdated once a month or so ag

I tried to add this in the topic already open but it kept sending me through the unending rabbit holes!
My question is: How do I figure out what release I was on, get rid of this one and got back to a functional firefox that moves in realtime. I already did all the reset and etc.... I just want to go back to the speed I had. This halting , hanging up misery of a browzer is Sad. I have had firefox for years and always recommended it ..... BUT NOT ANY MORE. I agree with the other poster ... there should be a rollback feature. Peoples time has value and right now FireFox is sucking the value down a rabbit hole.
See Below Comment Feedback submitted before I finally got here:
This new version of FireFox is making me nutz! It is SUCKING 100% CPU time almost constantly. I could just pull my hair out. I wpdated once a month or so ago and it slowed down..... but the latest update before I did the reset really slowed me down. I came here to fix it a couple of dayz ago and did the reset firefox and now it IS RUNNING SO POORLY AND SLOW I AM ABOUT TO KILL IT OFF MY MACHINE!!! Yes that is me yelling - and it happened in SSSSSSSSSSSSS LLLLLLLLL OOOOOOOO WWWWWWWWWW Motion. I have run all the security scans and cleanups ---this needs a fix ASAP!!! PS: The hang ups and slowness is EVERYWHERE I go. I only get speed doing programs not connected to ON LINE.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Firefox 15.0.1 stops responding (100% cpu) when a link opens in a new window.

Whenever I click a link that is designed to open in a new window Firefox goes straight to 100% cpu usage and I have to go through the Windows "end now" sequence to close the program. I've tried opening one of the links in a new window but I think it was done in java not html (not sure if all the links are java when this happens as that's the only one I've tested). Not sure what details someone might need but this is on my Mom's older laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition Ver. 2002 Service Pack 2. Hmmm just saw the SP2 will try to update and see what that does though I don't think that's the issue.

So what is happening or not happening now ? The problem computer is your Moms, but I assume your own computer works ok. Have you tried that on the same internet connection as your Mom uses & visiting the same sites?
Also try Internet Explorer. If that is also very slow the problem may not lie with Firefox.
I suggest you try the Firefox Reset feature on your Mom's computer,
    * BUT first of all
**make a note of the software extensions that are in use, and bookmark their download and support sites.
** back up the Firefox profile [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * follow the instructions in the following article, after reading the caution about what will be lost

  • Sessions with Event "class slave wait" taking 100% CPU

    Hi experts,
I have an issue in an 11.2.0.2 RAC database with 2 standby nodes that are driving me nuts.
All started when I've been told there are 2 Oracle processes consuming too much CPU in the environment.
I found 2 processes which takes 100% CPU each. These processes are Oracle processes into the DB and checking them out although they are registered in v$process and v$session, there is nothing related to them in v$bgprocess so I could not find out which oracle processes started these 2 OS processes.
The view v$session shows them ACTIVE in the event "class slave wait". There aren't too much information about this event, at least I failed to find...
Using dbms_monitor and dbms_system to create trace events did not create any tracefile. Only ORADEBUG was able to create events but with nearly no information inside the trace files.
Questions I need to have answered or at least hints that I can follow to find the answer:
    1) what is causing the CPUs to be consumed at 100%? Which process?
    2) Why does these processes are using that much of CPU?
    3) What can be done to safely get over it?
Honestly I don't know where else to look at except trying to get some help. Could someone give me a hand please?

Hi Pal, thanks for your reply!
    Here are the answers:
    1. If it is RAC there is no such construct as a "standby node" and you say you have two of them. Please be specific ... is this RAC or Data Guard or a combination? Or do you have a three node cluster with all services pointing to only a single server wasting all of the resources of the other three?
A: This is a combination of them. We have 2 nodes in a RAC environment shipping logs to two physical standby databases in another site.
    2. Two processes can not be at 100% of CPU any more than I can be 200% awake. Please show us how you arrived at this conclusion, on what hardware and operating system, and include a formatted (read the FAQ to learn how) extract showing what you are seeing.
A: top in Linux shows two oracle processes consuming 100% (or nearly of it) of 1 CPU each. This is a 16 cores server (each primary node) so 2 of these are working on full capacity to service the described processes.
    3. What processes? Name them and again run a SQL statement and post the output so we can see what you are looking at.
A: Like I said before I failed to find which background process they belongs to as there are no indications of them in v$bgprocess and in v$session/v$process either. I can see them in v$process and v$session but again, there are no indications of for which bg process they belong to.
    4. Is anything slow? Are there any problems with the system or are you only reacting to two numbers you think are too high?
A: No, system is not slow because of that but the client wants to investigate and have it sorted as it is not normal.
Additionally I found a bug in metalink which seems to be the culprit, but I'm unsure yet. This is Bug 12929268 : HIGH CPU ON ORA_O00N PROCESS
Is any other information that I may provide you?
    Thanks for help!

@Drewli77 yup that's it. When Mail opened I chose Google/Gmail and let Mail set the account up for me.
Before doing that I had noticed com.apple.internetaccounts hogging the CPU. I went into System Preferences > Internet Accounts, waited 10 minutes for the spinning ball to stop, then deleted the Google account in there. There was only one Google account in there, despite the fact that I have four Google accounts set up in Mac Mail. Anyway this one account seemed to be what was slowing down that preference pane. After deleting Accounts.plist I re-added my accounts in Mail, which added them to the Internet Accounts preference pane, but now that preference pane (and Mail) open just fine without hogging resources.
What annoys me is the fact that hitting Delete on a message sends it to Trash, which in Mavericks corresponds to Gmail's Trash, meaning it gets purged every month (regardless of the setting you choose in Mac Mail). I've been using Option-Delete to Archive it, but I wish I could just use Delete for that, since I always Archive and rarely Trash messages. I would set another folder to be used for Trash, but sadly, all of the options under Mailbox > "Use this mailbox for" are greyed out.

  • Photoshop CS5 always around 100% CPU usage

Photoshop CS5 12.0.1 x64 running on Snow Leopard 10.6.4 always takes around 100% CPU, no matter if it's on screen or not. I can not figure out what it is doing behind the scene. I have deactivated fonts preview and I have no third party plugin except for the FontExplorer plugin (that handles missing font requests).
Use case example : Right now, Photoshop is hidden and on a different Space (as in Mac "Spaces"). The only open file is a psd file, containg only a few layer and groups, no text and is 240px X 130px. For the past 10 minutes, Photoshop's CPU usage has varied between 99.8% and 103%. This seems odd, comparing to After Effects running at the same time using only around 0.6% CPU...
Any idea how I can fix this?

Try turning off font previews, try disabling your third party plugins.
We've seen several third party plugin bugs that would waste CPU time.
And font previews can spend time (completely interruptable) until the previews are completed.
Photoshop normally uses 1% or less CPU when in the background.

  • CF9 CPU at 100%. Moved to new CF11 server and copied files over and it's still at 100% CPU almost immediately on new server

Our web server is stuck at 100% CPU.  Three days ago we were on CF9 and started running into this problem until the server crashed and wasn't salvageable.  Luckily we had a fresh Windows 2008 Server R2 ready to go with a fresh copy of CF11 on it.  I copied all the website files over and we were back up and running.  A day later the CPU is back to 100% on the new CF11 Windows 2008R2 server.  I also updated CF11 to the latest update 3 that was just released.
If I turn off the CF service the CPU usage goes back to normal.  If I turn CF back on, the CPU goes back to 100% within like 5 seconds.  So it doesn't seem like some slow running page or anything that eventually eats up all the memory or whatever.  I'm not an expert at looking at the logs, but I don't see anything too out of the ordinary.  The one thing that looks strange to me is I see this line over and over.
    Dec 12, 2014 11:28:41 AM Information [ajp-bio-8014-exec-59] - Starting HTTP request {URL='http://zzen1wbudopwg.nchyt.com/encfm/en0024-ssj5iway6wvg/cbeim94a1s2kebu.php?do=194', method='get'}
That line makes me think we got hacked somehow, but it's hard to know.
I did up my JVM heap size and max size to 1024MB.  We have 4GB of memory.  And i changed teh JVM arguments to what's below based on a forum post.  Nothing seems to help.
    -server -XX:PermSize=192m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:+UseParallelGC -Xbatch -Dcoldfusion.home={application.home} -Dorg.eclipse.jetty.util.log.class=org.eclipse.jetty.util.log.JavaUtilLog -Duser.language=en -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home} -Dcoldfusion.libPath={application.home}/lib -Dorg.apache.coyote.USE_CUSTOM_STATUS_MSG_IN_HEADER=true -Dcoldfusion.jsafe.defaultalgo=FIPS186Random
Any additional ideas on how to debug this or what to look at?  Thanks!

Thanks Charlie for your insight.  I searched everywhere to find a cfhttp request that was causing the issue, but couldn't find it.  I did find some unusual files that were loaded though that I know we didn't put there.  I did a search and found this link that shows the code.  Coldfusion CFIDE bitcoin mining exploit – PHP involved… | code-complete.com and that you mention in your article too.  I don't see any of the executables running or files that were mentioned though.  I found that code in 8 different spots though and removed them.  Maybe our old server had the executables and hacked files on them.  Hard to know as it won't boot up anymore!
I think I did possibly isolate the HTTP request {URL='http://zzen1wbudopwg.nchyt.com/encfm/en0024-ssj5iway6wvg/cbeim94a1s2kebu.php?do=218', method='get'} in the http.log file to a certain site in IIS though.  And it wasn't our main site.  I turn off this website in IIS and it appears the weird request goes away.  I turn the site back on and it starts to re-appear.  It doesn't always load constantly so it's a little hard to tell.  This site is pretty small.  I went through each file on the site and did find one file that did appear to be hacked.  It wasn't coldfusion code though.  Just some html links.  I removed it.  That's all I could find.  No cfhttp calls or anything else.
We re-installed Coldfusion 11 on Friday as well and upgraded to Update 3.  It doesn't stay locked at 100% as much right now, but it being over the weekend we don't get much traffic.  Monday will be the real test.  I think I will leave that smaller site turned off for now and see how things perform.  I'm doing a full virus scan for the heck of it overnight too.  Don't really expect it to find anything though. I also turned on advanced logging in IIS 7.5 and don't see anything out of the ordinary.  I made sure client variables weren't in the registry either.
Here's a part of the http.log file when I turn the IIS site on.  I turn the site off and it stops popping up in the logs.

  • 100% CPU usage with XP Cooler from PCAlert4

Any idea why I would be running 100% cpu usage when running XP Cooler from PCAlert4?  I noticed PC was sluggish when running it so CTRL+ALT+DEL and under performance is 100% CPU with 245MB Ram Usage. No other TSR's running - several application but under 10% CPU usage without PCAlert and XP Cooler.
I was also wondering if anyone had any ideas on the video?  I have the K7N2G with 768MB DDR PC 2100 (3x256) XP2200+ 266FSB running 1804MHz - Maxtor 30GB 7200RPM - 350W PSU (raidmax - yea yea I know, dont say a word though LOL) on board video and here is the problem - graphics are great, but they get choppy - running NFS HotPursuit 2 at 32bit 800x600 (doesnt seem to matter even when running 16bit 640x480still does it.) what setting am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

    Deathstalker (Richard),
I did what you suggest in memory management and also changed out the mem on the board - it did make a difference, not as much as I had hoped, but it did.
    Raven,
I have used Fraps in the past, forgot about it, but went ahead and downloaded it to get a better look.
    To the Both of you,
Thanks so much for your replies, sometimes it just takes someone outside looking in to see the things overlooked.  But I went ahead and also ran all of the latest updates for the board (semi new system and I only installed with the CD that came with the Mobo) and everything is running better than expected.  Thanks again for your thoughts - keep 'em flowin, it's amazing whom we could help.  Take care.

  • Distiller 8 and 9 both locking up, 100 % CPU usage

Not sure if its related, but probably, since it happened right after...I just transferred everything from my quad core mac pro to my new 8-core Mac Pro. Everything went well, but now Distiller 8 starts and then sits and gives the beachball of death, and one of the cores shows 100% cpu usage. (I have that utility that shows memory used, CPU usage, etc.). I hadn't bought Acrobat 9 yet so I downloaded it and installed, and Distiller 9 does the EXACT same thing. The ONLY thing I can call an "error message" is that I can see in the window after it launches is "Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF/Settings/PDFX4 2007.joboptions:/CheckCompliance out of Range."
That message may have been there whole time, even when it worked, though. I don't know. At any rate, I need distiller working! Any ideas?

Glad to hear all is well. Preference files can cause big problems. Eons
ago, in the 1980s, I used a communications program called Red Ryder. I
loved the program. After it was updated to a new version (it might have
been called White Knight by that time), I started to have terrible
problems. I wrote to their technical support. They couldn't duplicate
the problem. It couldn't happen etc. I eventually got a little hot under
the collar. After all, if I couldn't use my modem, I couldn't check my
email, etc. It turned out to be a problem with my preference file when
converted to the latest version, that was causing the problem. Since
they always started with a new preference file, they couldn't duplicate
the problem that was obvious to me.
