Occasional problem receiving Comcast email on iPhone and MacBook.

I have iCloud.  Occasionally I will recieve an email on my iPhone but will not receive the same email on my MacBook.  This does not happen all of the time but it does happen periodically.  Any ideas?

Yes some ideas. Comcast is using pop mail accounts. you need to do some changes to your phone and computer settings in order to accommodate that. (those accounts a bit outdated and need to be managed in order to use with multiple devices)

  • Problems with comcast email on iphone

Had problems sending emails from my iphone and ipad through Comcast. Apple could not solve the problem, contacted Comcast and they stated that they had issues with the Apple iphone and ipad and told me to download the "Xfinity connect ap" did so and everything works better than before.  When I used the Apple email had to trash what I did not want on Apple and then when I went to Comcast the email were still there.  Using the xfinity ap, when I delete on the iphone or the ipad the emails are deleted at all places.  Before I had to delete on my iphone and then my ipad and then when i went to my computer they were still there and I had to delete there also, which was a real pain. Still can send and rec email from my icloud account, but comcast email are handled through xfinity connect

my point is what i stated. maybe i posted in the wrong forum. SORRY.  I was only trying to help. No it is probably not Apples problem but the Apple people did not know what to do or did not have a solution to the problem.  I spent hours trying to straighten it out on line and with apple personel with no results, Apple employees did not have a solution to the problem.  Like I said Sorry, but it cost me hours trying to straighten it out.  I had used it for 2 yrs and then it stopped working, I figured Apple had a solution but they did not, and wasted a lot of my time.

  • Syncing emails between iphone and macbook

E mails currently arrive in my inbox on the Mac, and on the iphone. Can anyone advise what settings I need to use so that when I delete an email from either phone or Mac, it will also delete from the other.
    Thanks

You are in the wrong forum. This forum is dedicated to Numbers '09. You also have not mentioned what type of mail account it is. Some mail account types cannot be set up to sync, you have to delete emails from each device independently.

  • I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together.  I receive all my emails on the macbook and iphone just fine, but don't receive all emails on my ipad.  Some go to Trash because it says they're improperly formatted.  What gives?

I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together, which generally works fine.  I receive all emails from senders in my address book in my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but some end up in Trash on my iPad, with the message, "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted.  Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.  text/plain"  They appear to be mainly from competing platforms, android, etc.  Is there a workaround for this problem?
    Thanks-

POP: yahoo, aol, comcast/time warnder/road runner
Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
To find out more about what happens to you, search on Google "difference between pop and imap"

  • I'm having problems receiving/sending emails thru Outlook.

I switched internet connection from AT&T to Comcast and I'm still utilized several AT&T email address's for free. I'm having problems receiving/sending emails thru Outlook.  Could the problem be due to using their free emails with no support.
Do I have to go thru yahoo to read/send emails?

Change the ISP would not effect the email connection generally. (Only when ISP disable your mailbox which they could control directly.)
I suppose that your Outlook still store/cache the AT&T messages, try to export them as PST data file for backup.
Setup the new Yahoo in your current Outlook first and then import that backup.pst to continue to use.

  • Can send but not receive comcast emails with Verizon MIFI jetpack

I am unable to receive comcast email using outlook 2007 using my new Verizon MIFI4620L Jetpack. When I disconnect from the Jetpack, I am able to receive emails using my neighbor's wireless router. I am able to send email using the MIFI Jetpack. When I test email settings, I am able to connect to comcast and send a test email. I am able to receive the test email from Microsoft. I am able to access email using the internet at comcast.net and I am able to use web browsers using the Mifi device. My other laptop is able to receive and send emails using the MIFI device. I currently have uninstalled Norton Internet Security and disabled windows firewall on the problematic computer in an attempt to resolve this.
    Any ideas?

There seems to be alot of Comcast email issues with the MiFi 4620L.  Most of them have been resolved with the propper configuration.  We have already found a few limitations to certain websites with this device, but none have been confirmed to be related to email services so far.
    Some helpful sites I found:
    http://www.emailquestions.com/email-program-setup-configuration/1180-setup-comcast-email-outlook-2007-a.html
    http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/configure-outlook-2007-to-use-port-587/
    http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/E-Mail-Client-Settings-customer-generated/td-p/778889
See if a quick configuration check will resolve your issues from the links I have provided.  If not then the next best step may be reinstalling Outlook on your computer.  Keep us posted either way.

  • Cannot receive Comcast email

I can send, but not receive Comcast email.  This is just in the last few days, as the feature has been working flawlessly since I received my iPad 3 in April.
    Here are the details:
    - I realized something was wrong when the mail app started downloading old emails with no content.  I managed to stop that behavior, but now I can't get emails
    - I can send emails thru Comcast account
    - I can send and receive emails thru Gmail account
    - I can send and and receive emails thru the Xfinity iPad app
    - I have reset and restored the iPad
    - I have deleted and re-created the Comcast profile
    - I have tried a number of port and SSL settings
    - I have verifled that email (both directions) works just fine on my laptop and desktop and I've compared those settings with the settings on the iPad
    - If I delete everything, start over and sync, I get emails from May.  Same emails.  Nothing newer.  Yes, the emails are on the Comcast server -my settings are "leave on server" - and I do get new emails on my other devices
    - My account and password are correct.  If I change my password to gibberish, I get an error.  When it's correct, the app validates my account with Comcast
    - When I hit the update icon, I get the spinning "i'm busy doing something" icon at the top of the screen for several (3-4) minutes.  Then I get the following message: "the mail server "mail.comcast.net" is not responding.  Verify that you have entered the correct account info in the Mail settings."
    Stumped.  Very stumped.

You could try restoring from an iPad backup - if you have one from which you can restore. I suggest this method because I totall screwed up an email account some months back and after doing everything that I could think of to correct it - with no success at all - I finally decided to try restoring from a backup. It worked beautifully,
Your backups contain your email settings so I figured that if the email account was working ago a few days ago, I would just restore from that backup - since that backup contained the correct email settings. Now I am probably a bit OCD about backups - I backup every single day - so I always have a very current backup that I can use.
BTW ... My email account that got totally wanked out is a Comcast account as well.
    These are my settings
Incoming Mail Server - Host Name - mail.comcast.net
Outgoing Mail Server - SMTP setting - smtp.comcast.net
    Advanced - Server port 995
    Use SSL - On

  • Problems with Comcast Email

I've had my Droid X for several years, and received Comcast email in "Messaging" box after setting up the Comcast account.  A few days ago, I started getting error notices that the phone was unable to connect to comcast because of an expired certificate from "bouncycastle.jce."  Unable to figure that out, I thought I'd try to reset it by deleting my comcast email account and then setting it back up.  Which I did, but now it says "unable to connect to comcast.net."  BTW, I have a gmail account and a business email account that are working fine through all of this, and my comcast email works fine on my desktop computer and when accessed on-line.  I spent time with a Comcast help person on chat, who could not make comcast email work in my "Messaging," but eventually had me download Xfinity Mobile.  I can get my Comcast email in Xfinity Mobile, but I don't like some of the permissions required for Xfinity Mobile, not the application bloat on my device.  I'd like to go back to just having the Droid pickup my comcast email through "Messaging."  Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?  Thanks.

Thanks RickR1958 & curtterp for sharing your solution!
For MichGeo & psw456, please make sure you have the same settings curtterp posted above for your email account. These are the correct settings for Comcast email & should allow you to send and receive email. Also, here is a link to Motorola's website which further details the security settings you should have checked/not checked for your email account.

  • Receiving email on iMac and MacBook, but not iOS devices?

Not sure why this is happening, but I'm not getting all emails on iPhones and iPads. I've had several emails addressed to my me.com address that show up on my iMac and MacBook, but never show up on our iPhones or iPads. This applies only to my me.com stuff. Even an iTunes marketing email doesn't show up on my iPhone.
I just transitioned to iCould last week and that's when it started. All devices were converted to iCloud and the iMac and MacBook are set up as IMAP accounts.
    Any ideas?

I finally figured this out. I use SpamSieve and when it's identifies something as Spam, it moves the email into a local folder and removes it from the cloud. The solution (in SpamSieve's documentation) was to create a new mailbox in iCloud and change the rule to move the messages there so that you can see any mis-identified on the iPhone.

  • I cannot receive mail on my iMac - mail is received on all other devices incl iPad, iphone, and macbook.

I do not receive e-mail on my iMac.....all other devices incl ipad, iphone, and macbook receive e-mail.

Please read the Mail Setup Assistant and trouble shoot by clicking the I want to Verify an Exisiting Account and double check your settings. If they are correct then erase the ones input and re-input them.

  • After I converted to OS5, the iCloud user name on my iPad is set to my email address, not my iCloud User ID.  How can I change it.  It's correct on my iPhone and MacBook.

After I converted to iOS5, the iCloud user name on my iPad is set to my email address, not my iCloud User ID.  How can I change it.  It's correct on my iPhone and MacBook.

You'll need to save the documents first from the incorrect iCloud account, sign out then sign in to the correct iCloud account and upload the documents to that account.

I final piece for me in the jigsaw following on from this
    http://www.care4pcs.co.uk/2012/10/how-to-be-happy-gmail-user-on-iphone-or.html
is to turn off wifi when you do not need it. When I leave the house I turn off wifi, because the majority of the times when my iPhone has got very hot and crashed is when I am away from home. I suspect that if the iPhone is in the vicinity of public wifi (wheather secure or not secure) it will try and connect, even if you have 'automatically join known networks' set to off. This is easy of course if you have an unlimited data contract for your iPhone. I may be wrong, but it is working for me. It makes sense for me because it is another way of reducing the work the processor (and battery) has to do and therefore reduces the chance of overheating.
Having said that, I never had this problem with my iPhone 4. I now have a 4S.
Try it. Hope it works for you.

  • TS3899 cannot access comcast email on iphone 4s

I cannot access my comcast email on iphone 4s

Were the email account settings you manually entered when creating the account with the iPhone's Mail app confirmed when doing so?
If so, any error message provided when the iPhone's Mail app checks the account for new email?

  • Remove emails off iPhone and leave them on server.

Is there a way like on Blackberry to remove emails off iPhone and leave them on the server? I dont' like that all my emails in the server are on my phone and wonce I delete them, they are gone.

Check your account setting and see what the server is called...if it's something like imap.mail.yahoo.com or imap.aol.com then you have IMAP accounts configured.
IMAP mails stay on the mail server belonging to Yahoo and AOL and each device you read the mail on communicates with the server and moves the items around, into the Trash and marks them as Read etc. ON THE SERVER.
Therefore when you look at the server from another device, you will see it exactly how you left it last time.
POP is different. Each device holds a local copy of the e-mail and can be different to all the other devices, so deleting it on one means it will still be in your Inbox when you look for it on another device, until you delete it on THAT device..
Both Yahoo and AOL support POP accounts as well as IMAP but you'd need to tell your devide which server to use.
POP servers are pop.mail.yahoo.com and opo.aol.com
Those servers are for INCOMING mail.
Outgoiong mail servers are usually called SMTP.aol.com and SMTP.mail.yahoo.com etc.

  • Can't synchronise mails of iphone and macbook pro

I receive my mails on my iphone and Macbook pro. If I download the mails on my iphone first and I open them, they will not be downloaded on my macbook pro. If I download them on my iphone but I don’t open them they will downloaded on my ibook pro. What do I have to change on my settings in order to have the syncronized?
    Thanks

That's normal behavior for a POP3 email account. If your email provider supports IMAP, set the account up as an IMAP account on both the Mac and the iPhone. IMAP supports synchronization between clients and the server. POP3 does not.
