Occasionally tracks don't play in the iPod app

I use iTunes Match between my household computers and my iOS devices. I regularly drop new music into iTunes on the Mac so it's instantly synced to iTunes Match.
Once in a while, I'll put a file in there that plays fine on the desktop, but then once it gets synced to iTunes Match and I'm out on the town using my iPhone, I'll hit play, and that track will be entirely silent. The play bar moves as if it's playing, but it's silent. If I come home to the computer and test that same song, it plays fine.
This is happening more and more and it's kind of infuriating because sometimes these are important songs that I'm playing for clients, therefore, I can't risk "what if it doesn't play" scenarios. Any suggestions on troubleshooting it?
I have already tried restarting the phone -- it doesn't make a difference. Once a track loads in "silent" mode, that track is never playable on my iPhone.
The iPhone doesn't appear to have a way to delete a song and then redownload it from iTunes Match. I tried going into the Settings > Music and switching off iTunes Match, then switching it back on (which does prompt a warning that it will replace all the music on the phone) but that doesn't seem to fix it.

Figured out in another forum--it was the Album Artist field that also needed to be changed.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

Why do my songs and audio books keep getting erased when I add a new book? Now some books will not play and the iPod does not keep track of where I was when I pause a book, leave for music and then go back!

About a month ago I added some new audio books to my iPod Classic and then after disconnecting, I discovered EVERYTHING had been erased.
I had to restore through my iTunes but then I could not load my music back on.
I uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes and completely reformated the iPod drive.
I successfully got my music and books back on but then added a new book two days ago only to discover everything got erased AGAIN!!!
Of course, my 1 Year Warranty was up about a week before the first incident.....
I formatted the iPod again, uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes (it was freezing during sync) and downloaded all my music and books again.
Now I have several books that will not play (they play on iTunes and they played on the iPod before all these events) and the iPod does not keep track of where I was in a book when I have to stop and go to something else.
Does anyone know what is going on with this thing??? I have a 5th Gen Video and in all the years I've had it, I've NEVER had problems like this!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get my iPod Classic up and running properly again?

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.

there are three displays in photos page:
1) thumbnails grid - smallest
2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
it's difficult to know which you refer to.
if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:

Agree about the disaster part. I haven't found a fix within iTunes.
I gave up and switched to downcast 2 days ago. Even though it was a hassle to re-subscribe to all my podcasts, im so much happier.
To make switching easier, I found that in iTunes you can "get info" on the podcast and copy the RSS address to the clipboard. Put all of these in a message note. When iCloud syncs the note to your phone, you can copy and paste the urls into downcast one at a time to subscribe.
Downcast has crashed on me occassionally when I'm subscribing to feeds, but so far it has recovered gracefully each time and no data was lost.

- Try insering and removing the headphone plug a dozen times or so.
- Try cleaning out the headphone jack in the iPod.
- Resett he iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

- Restore from backup
- Restoe to factory defaults/new iPod
If yu still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem, likely a bad headphone jack. Yu can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.

How do I stop Voice Memos from showing up in the iPod App?

I have an iPhone 4. I do not want Voice Memos to pass through to the iPod app. I really don't want them in iTunes either, but I can live with that I suppose. In iTunes, in the iPhone section, under the Music tab, "Include Voice Memos" is NOT checked. However, after I record new voice memos, the next time I sync, they go into iTunes and right into the iPod app. Then when I'm playing the "Recently Added " playlist (my new music), I hear my voice ("And here is my recap of today's marketing meeting") which I do NOT want to hear in iPod. How do I get back to the home page in the iPod app?

Another problem like the other ones. I started to play an audiobook on my iPad.....one I had synced from my iTunes/i/pod. Now I can't get rid of it. I can stop it from playing, but it is taking up half the menu ....has a picture of the book and says "the book (title) is playing." I want to get that off so I can play my music but I can't get out of books and back to the whole ipod menu. I guess my question is how do I get to the iPod app's home page when I am stuck on the books page?
I don't know why this is giving me so much trouble. I check everything and sometimes I find a way to get back to home, but I sure don't see it on this books page of iPod.

A way to normalize volume in the iPod app on iPhone?

I have a set of favorite songs in a playlist in iTunes on my PC, and in my iPod Classic. As either one is used to play the playlist, the volume of each song is reasonable in relation to the others. It doesn't surprise me, since I've been told that iTunes "normalizes" volume levels of music files as they are added to iTunes. Not sure if it adds playback information to the file in a form similar to the data tags on mp3 files or what.
Anyway, here's the problem. I synched my iPhone 3GS to iTunes so I can play this one playlist via the iPod app in iPhone. But there's one musician whose songs come out sounding twice as loud, and distorted. They don't do that in iTunes or in the iPod Classic. I poked around on the iPod app for some settings without any luck. Suggestions? I can take the original music files and create lower-volume versions, but that seems like kind of a clumsy approach.

Hi when I'm playing music with iPod app, lyrics will show 1 song YES and 1 song NO!!!
So I try lo listen shuffle songs, and if I decide to view lyrics it will show them alternately some and other not.

You don't get it. Let me explain what's going on my ipod:
the ipod touch don't accept the hour 00:any minutes or 12:any AM, in the date of 4 november. It changes to day 3 and the hour changes to 23:any. In the other days works perfectly.
Example:
In the ipod is 1:45 AM November 4 2007(sunday). But the correct time is 00:45 November 4 2007(sunday).
So I want to change it to the correct time, but the ipod change the date to november 3 (saturday) and 23:45, if I try to put 00: in the hour.
Weird...
I wonder if this happens only on my ipod...
I hope someone can help me with this.
