OCE WPD driver installation hangs on client workstation

Hi,
We are having issues with a specific driver from OCE. The driver is WPD for an OCE PlotWave 300 on Win7x64. We cannot use another driver since the clients need it for AutoCAD documents. I have been able to add the driver to the driver store without any issues but the problem happens when a client tries to install the Printer Agent. The error we get is "PA failed to install :The Remote Procedure call failed". The installation fails and makes the iPrint client and the windows spooler crash every time. We are currently using iPrint client v5.98 but we also tried v5.99 without any luck. We have been able to install the printer manually on the workstation but from iPrint, it fails each time. Like I said, this issue only happens on Windows 7 64bit workstations.
Any ideas would help!
Thank you!

Are you using the "shortinstallname" feature: https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7003076 ?

  • Bootcamp, intel mac pro, using entire drive, installer hangs- what am I doi

I have been trying to install boot camp and windows on my Mac Pro. Installing on my MacBook Pro was so easy I didn't expect any kind of problems, but I got them anyway.
    a) I am installing on a hard drive and I expect to use the entire drive. I start boot camp and designate the drive. Windows appears to start installing but when I get the format screen, there is no partition on any drive labelled Boot Camp.
    b) if I choose the drive I wanted anyway, it will format for NTFS and copy all the files. It will re-boot and start the GUI install but hang with 33 minutes to go. I have tried this multiple times and the result is identical every time.
    What am I doing wrong?

As of this point in time, I have been able to get windows installed- I noticed during the windows setup and format section that the disk actually had two partitions, one very small and the other the size of the rest of the disk.
(this was probably a mistake) but I deleted the small partition, formatted the large one NTFS and continued with the install. Well, windows went on without a whimper after that and I was able to install the windows drivers from my apple disk.
BUT when i go to preferences/startup disk to select the BOOTCAMP partition (yes, that shows now) I don't see it.
If I start Fusion, I can see and boot the bootcamp partition but if I go into the control panel and start the bootcamp control, the mac os partition does not show.
So, does it sound as though I deleted what apple uses to select between the mac os and windows installations when i deleted that small partition?
I am afraid to try again.

Pl post exact versions of "11g" and "Windows 7" - Home versions are not supported - you will need Professional or higher.
Looks like the "-ignoreSysprereqs" flag was used for the install - is there a reason for this ?

  • X-Fi Xtrememusic Driver installation hangs

Hello to everyone who had the intrest in taking a look at my thread,
Four years have passed now since the day I left my last replay on Creative Support forums, back then I was interested in acquiring a sound card that would support EAX HD (v4.0). I did acquire a crad with EAX 4.0, a Creative Xtreme Music (bought it about a year ago) to be precise.
Setting the card into my pc and installing the official 2.8.003 driver package, worked out great for a year of time.
Two days ago I turned my PC on and to my supprise, the only available working device in my Volume Mixer was the "S/PDIF Out (Creative SB X-Fi)".
I set windows into restore mode and restored my pc to the state it was two days earlier. That didn't help. I removed all creative entries from "Uninstall software" (In control panel). I rebooted the system ran Driver Sweeper, cleaned the registry from any creative entries, with each step of the way a reboot was performed. No entries of Creative where left in the system.
When all entries have been removed out of the system (I followed every possible guide on the net about removing Creative stuff from the system), an extra reboot was done after which I went into control panel, device manager. I found my Creative X-Fi under "Other Devices" under the name of "Multimedia Audio Controller". I updated the driver with the official 2.8.003 that I have kept on my dri've from the first time I installed the drivers a year ago.
Windows would find the appropriate driver, but would be unable to install my device due to "Invalid Data".
Googled that, only to find that non of the proposed working solutions (which are about the same, uninstall, remove, delete, clean install daniel_k drivers) would work out for me.
I got pissed, I set a whole day backing up my data from the main dri've and did a format to it. I freshly installed Windows 7 Ulti 64Bit. I tried installing the card from the official CD, which at a certain point would just freeze the whole system.
I rebooted and restored Windows, tried to install the drivers from the CD once more, with no success, the system would hang again when trying to install the drivers for my card, reboot, restore and into safe mode. In safe mode, I went directly into device manager, updated my drivers for my card (J:\Audio\Drivers\) the system found the X-Fi driver, it installed it and then I rebooted into normal mode.
The speaker no longer had the red cross icon on it, but no sound was coming out of my headphones. I unplugged them and replugged them, at no help, I clicked on the Volume mixer.... I had only "S/PDIF Out".
What is going on with my card, what went wrong with the card
    Thanks for the help
    P.S.
In my current system I have two hard dri'ves(each split into multiple partitions, I run win 7 on my ST000 and my Win XP on my ST60), after I lost my sound the first time, I booted into my 60 dri've, I ran Winamp and pressed on play. For some reason the sound played for a second or two and then faded away (died), I tried playing anything else after, but there was no sound at all, I rebooted into XP again, this time the system had no sound at all.
Has my XtremeMusic card just died two days ago

?It has been a day that my thread has been hanging in the air and still, not a single replay has been posted.
One would think that four years would be enough for a company to realize that it is time to wake up, sadly reality shows otherwise.
I have fixed my issue, anyone interested in knowing what I did to fix my problem, private me. I am not going to post it here, the people that know something about tech should of already figured this one out. I let them do their job.
    P.S.
This thread, in particularly, must be considered as a Sticky. The solution to my problem, has not been yet resolved be other folks that had the same exact problem, as the cause to the problem is something that DOES NOT exist in Creative's knowledge data base and in the forums.

Although I didn't have any problems to install the client on Windows XP (assuming it's Professional, not Home), you may try a custom installation instead of 'runtime'. The last lines in the logfile refer to the .net component, not sure whether there's a problem.

  • How many users can connect to a shared drive on a non-server workstation?

How many users can connect to a shared drive on a non-server workstation? We're waiting for our server to arrive and in the interum we're using a Pegasus 2 R6 attached to an iMac running Mavericks as our fileserver. It's been sketchy, the connection to the server being dropped once in a while or the inability to mount the drive after a week of success. The Pegasus we're using now will be attached to a server once it arrives. For now I need to figure what's coausing trouble before I commit to this being our main storage as planned. The data is backed up every night so I'm not worried, its the usability issues. 5-7 people are mounting this drive and opening/saving at the same time. Is there a limit to Maverick's fileserving ability that may be causing this? Understandable if so.

The file server in the client version of OS X has a default limit of 10 simultaneous connections. That limit can be raised by installing OS X Server, or lowered by setting a hidden preference. Assuming you've done neither, you may be able to solve the problem temporarily by stopping and restarting file sharing in the Sharing preference pane, or permanently by setting another hidden preference on the server to break idle connections quickly.
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool YES
Stop and restart file sharing. To reverse the change, run this command in the same way:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool NO

  • Windows 7 installation hangs on 'completing installation' in boot camp

    hi
i am trying to install windows 7 ultimate 32 bit using boot camp and each time i have tried (except on one occasion) the installation has hanged on the 'completing installation' stage. i initially had this problem, then one time it worked, but then i had to wipe my boot camp partition and start again, and since then no joy in installing windows 7 again.
when the installation hangs it sounds like the install DVD is making a whirring sound as though there is an issue reading the DVD. but i have tried two different windows 7 install DVDs in both drives on my Mac Pro and i keep getting the same problem.
i have tried installing without any peripherals plugged in, including my cinema display, but still no joy, except for that one occasion, when i am not aware of having done anything different.
the boot camp partition is 32GB, and i have the same issue whether starting the installation using the boot camp assistant, or just booting from the Windows DVD and formatting the boot camp partition during the install.
can anyone help me troubleshoot this?
    thanks
    nick

On a Mac Pro with four hard disks, you would be better off devoting an entire HDD to Windows. You do not even need to start the Boot Camp Assistant application.
However, that does not appear to be the problem. Perhaps the size of your Windows partition is a bit on the smallish side. Why so small? Have you tried a larger partition? Going larger would be a good experiment to help drill down to the installation problem.
Try to eliminate anything under your control that could be part of the problem.
At 32GB that's the borderline between being permitted to use FAT32 formatting and being required to employ NTFS. Presumably, you allowed the installer to use NTFS. In fact I think Win7 requires NTFS. Switch the partition size a little down or a little up to eliminate that as a possible glitch point. Just a thought and probably a stupid one but you never know...
An afterthought: Can you get hold of a FireWire DVD optical drive. Maybe the internal drive is faulty.

  • Installation hangs with Third Party Source component

    Hi,
The installation hangs when it is installing Third Party Source (57%) in my environment.
    This is my environment:
    1. Solaris 10 x86 5/08
    2. SunStudio12ml-solaris-x86-200709-pkg.tar
    3. Installation method: single user, graphical user interface
    4. Hardware: VMware Workstation 6.0.2, CPU 1.5G, memory 400M
I searched in SunStudio12ml-solaris-x86-200709-pkg.tar, and I could not find SPROrdbks package which belongs to Third Party Source component.
I suspect this is the root cause of my installation problem. I restart the installation, and I do not select to install Third Party Source component. But the installation process now hangs when it is installing Performance Library (56%). I don't what is the root cause :P
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    O2Cabin

    Hi,
You could find log in the /var/sadm/install/logs directory. Probably it helps you.
    (for example: /var/sadm/install/logs/Sun_Studio_Ceres_software_install.B09161643)
Unfortunately the SunStudio12 installer could have problems with virtual environments.
The Sun Studio is distributed as tar.bz2 archive (for latest Express it is wrapped into sh script).
You could just unpack it. The only difference is that there no packages are created.
    Could this helps you?
Also if you use OpenSolaris you could install Sun Studio from IPS.
    Thank you

  • Solaris 10 installation hangs at filesystem preparation stage

    Dear all,
I am facing problems trying to configure Solaris 10 which was preinstalled on a Sun Ultra 45 workstation.
Passing the network configuration stage (some errors included) the installation simply hangs while trying to prepare the filesystem, here are the messages I got:
runCmd error in /usr/sbin/sysidput with output
    Unable to run cmd /usr/sbin/sysidput
    System identification complete.
    mv: cannot access /a/lib/svc/method/fs-root.orig
Please wait while filesystems are prepared...
The installation hangs here. I left the process running overnight, but nothing happened, I had to open a new console and shutdown the system. This behaviour is 100% reproducible. Now I will try getting the CDs for installation.
How can I find out what is happening?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey all,
rukbat was right - I put the pressure on the Sun frontline support, and got a Sun backline response, below.
Thanks for the encouragement rukbat! - it paid off.
    ===
Engineering provided us with a workaround for this problem.
And our backline team have confirmed this works.
The workaround is to restore /lib/svc/method/fs-root to slice 0. Here's how:
Boot from slice 1 into single-user mode:
    ok boot disk:b - shell
Mount slice 0 on /a. Replace c1t0d0s0 with the appropriate disk address on your machine.
    # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a
Copy fs-root from slice 1 to slice 0:
    # cp -p /lib/svc/method/fs-root /a/lib/svc/method/
Optionally, you can check to see if a filesystem was created on slice 3. Again, replace c1t0d0s3 with the correct address on your system.
    # df -k /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s3
If you don't see a valid usage report such as
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s3 217369929 9 215196192 0%
go ahead and use newfs to install a filesystem:
    # newfs /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s3
    newfs: construct a new file system /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s3: (y/n)? y
You can now reboot from slice 0:
    # reboot -- disk:a

Apart from this you should not try the driver from amd but test this one from aur:  http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25105

  • Windows Vista Installation Hangs on "Completing Installation" on Dell Inspiron 1720

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 that I am working on. The original problem with this computer was that it was accidently shut off during a Windows Update. The computer will only load to a black screen with a white movable cursor.
Unable to resolve that issue, I decided to purchase a replacement hard drive (WD Scorpio Black 320GB -- Model # WD3200KTRTL) and proceed to do a full install of Windows Vista using the Dell Reinstallation Window Vista Home Premium 32BIT disc that came with
    the computer.
Towards the very end of the installation, the system hangs on the "Completing Installation" section. I decided to leave the computer turned on over night just in case there were things that were still loading. This was not the case and the next morning I
    turned off the computer.
With the new hard drive installed and with Windows Vista installed (minus the "Completing Installation hanging...) I am faced with the same problem as before when I had the existing hard drive installed.
Can anyone help me solve this issue? Ideally, I'd like to use the existing hard drive instead of the new one, simply because there is a lot of data and problems on the other drive.

How could it be that I can't reinstall Vista after replacing the hard drive in my Inspiron 1720 when I have the original DVD from Dell, to be used for just that purpose?  Well, the answer was exactly what Jaco suggested.  After hours of struggling
with this, and about at the stage where a new computer made more sense that continuing to try to get this 6 year old one running again, changing the AHCI setting allowed the Vista installer to get over it's CRCDISK.SYS hangup.  A 30 second fix, but finding
it took hours.  Sigh...Thank you for posting this, Jaco.

  • PC Suite Installation hangs - any new tricks?

    Hi all,
I've been trying to install PC suite on my computer but without any results. My operating system is 32bit Vista and I've tried to install 6.84.10.3 & 6.85.12.0 versions of PC suite.
6.84.10.3 hangs 61%/20% and 6.85.12.0 hangs on 40%. I think that it has something to do with Cable Connectivity Driver installation but haven't figured out the problem...
I've also tried solutions mentioned in other topics in this forum, installing without internet connection, killing the setupt.exe during installation etc. The computer is not running Roxio roxwatch.exe.
Can't clean up the computer by using Nokia PC suite cleaner because it doesn't support Vista....etc. Any help would be appreciated, I think my multimedia phone is quite useless without PC suite.

    Hi all, solution found:
After some research I came up with the following detour to get the PC suite installed and work: From the register editor I found that windows makes an installation folder to: Crogramdata\Installations\(then a folder which is named by a code)\(subfolders) (Programdata is hidden folder)
The subfolders contain all the packages from which the normal PC suite installer installs the different parts of the program. There were CCD, PCCS, Nokia_PC_suite and VC80_x86 folders. All those folders included setup subfolders which contained installer-files. I simply installed all those parts separately with their own installers and everything works OK! First I installed CCD (Cable Connectivity Driver) then the PCCS (PC Connectivity Suite) and finally I installed Nokia PC Suite.
PCCS has to be installed before Nokia PC suite program itself.
Installation was succesfull and there were no errors during it. I also tried to install the VC80_x86 but nothing happened... Does any one know what is it? But so far so good, PC suite works.
I guess the main installer is not working and is the cause for hanging the whole installation.
Hopefully this was helpful if someone has encountered same kind of problems.

  • Installation hangs / Cable Drivers

    Hi ,
i just cannot install the PC-Suite 6.83. Every time i start the installer it hangs at 65% / 21% when it says its installing the "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver".
I already tried to install the Cable Driver - but that installation hangs too. There is a file called "setupext.exe" which seems to cause the problem.
Does anyone can help me ?
    regards

    No dice here also.
Installation hangs at either 7, 79 or so % of "Nokia connectivity cable driver".
Can't pass over it. An installation starts in the background, but never finishes, I left it like 2 hours there. I also tried killing it (complains a part of the setup never ended gracefully and aborts).
Installing NCCD by itself doesn't help. Nothing else I could think of worked. I'm puzzled.
Another thing is, it works at work (XP), but hangs here (2k SP4) - on a side note, the work version says no updates are available. This version just hangs checking for updates until I stop it. Odd thing is, I'm optical fibered in both locations, I'm 17 ms away from Nokia.com and over a 3 MB dedicated connection. I have a 10 MB dedicated OF link at work.
How can it not work? The Setup hogs the CPU for like 5 secs, then cools down and just sits there.
Can't I just pass a /nocable to it or something? Just pass the NCCD, I can do that myself. Or afterwards. Or something.
I have no Roxio or any other similar products, like an AV program. Clues?
