OCFS / CRS / IA64 / RHEL 3 / 10g Support?

As I described in another thread, I have the following products and CRS does Not detect nor allow me to use the OCFS Filesystem when I try to input the device name/filesystem name, it errors and fails in the installer screen. The Support site for Oracle is Vague on this configuration officially. OCFS is UP and Running on four nodes. I actually installed Enterprise 10G on one system and defined the OCFS partition for my DB files. Worked fine. CRS seems to be my problem...

ANY official "support" for this?

Hi,
ORA-19816: WARNING: Files may exist in db_recovery_file_dest that are not known to database.This looks like an ASM-full condition, see here:
http://dba.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=11393&mode=linear
ORA-19816: WARNING: Files may exist in string that are not known to database.
Cause: One of the following events caused this:
1. A database crash happened during file creation.
2. A backup control file was restored.
3. The control file was re-created.
4. DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST has previously been enabled and then disabled.
Action: Use RMAN command CATALOG RECOVERY AREA to re-catalog any such files. If the file header is corrupted, then delete those files using an OS utility. Do not use messages 19817; it is used for simulating lock failure Do not use messages 19818; it is used for space reclaimation before backup
Hope this helps. . .

  • Does Oracle 10g support Active Data-guard?

    Hi all,
    Can Oracle Database 10g support Active Data-guard?
    Thanks you!
    Dan
    Edited by: Dan on Jul 12, 2011 10:13 AM

    no, active data guard is 11gR1 new feature.
    In Oracle Database 10g and below you could open the physical standby database for read-only activities (say, to offload some reporting), but only after stopping the recovery process. With these releases, If Data Guard is a part of your DR solution, you really can't afford to pause the recovery process for a long duration for fear of falling behind, so the physical standby database is essentially useless for any read-only activity.
    With Oracle Database 11g, that situation changes: You can open the physical standby database in read-only mode and restart the recovery process. This means you can continue to be in sync with primary but can use the standby for reporting. (As in previous versions, you can take the backup from the standby as well.)

  • Oracle 10G  support and 12C release

    Hi,
    I am interested in new about Oracle 12C ---Cloud compute DB system. we have 10G database
    When 12C will be released ?
    When oracle10G will not supported by oracle
    As I know 10G released in 2004 and 10gR2 in 2006. Normally speaking, 10G support will be terminated next year (after released 5 years).
    Any updated for this event?
    Jim

    Premier support has already ended on Oracle 10gR2 last july.
    Ie, no new bugs will be fixed.

  • ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8

    hi
    Working with Oracle support (in SR 7732252.994) we first reached this conclusion ...
    "Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is not a supported for the ADF Faces applications built using JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0"
    When I subsequently asked ...
    "Will there be a JDeveloper 10g release (post 10.1.3.5.0) that will support IE8 ?"
    ... the answer was ...
    "Jdeveloper 10.1.3.5 is the last release in the Jdeveloper 10g branch and there will be no more releases after 10.1.3.5.
    Therefore, there will be no support for IE 8 in the Jdeveloper 10g branch."
    question
    (q1)What is supposed to happen to ADF 10g production applications deployed in an environment that allows little control over the browser that is used (extranet/internet)?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Shay.
    We plan to officially support IE8 with the next patch release to JDeveloper 11g - currently planned for later this year.That matches what I wrote in my initial post in this forum thread about IE8 support.
    We usually only certify browsers after they officially go production.That does not really answer my question (q1) in this forum thread.
    It is more like, how can I assess that Oracle will support any successor(s) of IE8 or successor(s) of any currently supported browsers for ADF 11g applications in the future? How long will Oracle support "commonly used browsers" for an ADF 11g application I build today, so how long will I be able to use that application?
    How do I answer such questions for ADF 11g applications that should be deployed on the internet (where, as some extranet environments, you typically have not that much (or no) control over which browsers your users use ... although some would like to argue with that, see forum thread "ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share")?
    (By the way, do you have any feedback for the forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8"?)
    regards

  • Oracle 10G support with ASM in Windows VM

    Hi,
    Planning to use Oracle 10G inside a Windows VM with paravirtualized drivers. We will be using iSCSI software initiator from within the windows VM directly to provision LUNs and use ASM as well.
    Will this combination fall under the supported category?
    thanks!
    Gak

    There are many different organizations involved with your question about being supported, so your best answer would be an official one directly from your Sales contact. There are mostly technical folk in these forums who can tell you if it will work, but that is not stating a support policy.

  • Does OEM Grid Control 10g support monitoring Oracle Portal 10g?

    Dear expert,
    It seems OEM GC 10g could monitor WebCenter, Weblogic portal and even Websphere portal, but I could not find any info for Oracle Portal. So,
    1.     Does OEM GC support to monitor Oracle Portal 10g? If not, does it support Oracle Portal 11g?
    2.     If does not support Oracle Portal, then is there any workaround for it? E.g. if it’s feasible through “web appliation”?
    Any comment and docs are welcome.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for your help.
    BTW, I have another question for your reply, that what do u mean by “You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor and manage OracleAS Portal”?
    Do you mean OEM AS Console or OEM GC? Boz I only find these metrics from OEM AS Console, which mentioned in this doc. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/b25987/oracle_portal.htm#CHDFJHDD
    If these metrics only available in AS Console, then how to let the OEM send out email notification if critical threshold is over?
    Thank you.

  • JDBC 10g - Support for TNS name entries

    Hello,
    I found the following statement:
    JDBC-Thin support for TNSNAMES.ORA Lookup: similar to JDBC-OCI, both client-side and server-side JDBC-Thin can now read the local TNSNAMES.ORA file to resolve service name or TNS alias. Consequently Java in the database will also be in position to reference external Oracle database, using service name. See the JDBC documentation for more details.
    in the Oracle white paper "What’s New for Java DB, JDBC, and Database Web Services in Oracle Database 10g". However, I have found several statments/notes in the accompanying 10g JDBC documentation that appear to directly contradict the statement above. For example, the following note:
    Note:
    Because the JDBC Thin driver can be used in applets that do not depend on an Oracle client installation, you cannot use a TNSNAMES entry to set up a Thin driver connection.
    Does anybody know if the JDBC Thin driver supports connection via a TNSNAMES entry? If so, can you direct me to the documentation on how to use it.
    FYI, I have managed to establish a connection using a TNS alias and JDBC-OCI as follows:
    OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
    ods.setTNSEntryName("MyTNSAlias");
    ods.setUser("scott");
    ods.setPassword("tiger");
    ods.setDriverType("oci8");
    Connection conn = ods.getConnection();
    However, if I set driver type to "thin" instead of "oci8", I get the following error:

    Hi,
    I wrote the white paper in question and am in position to confirm that in 10.2, JDBC-Thin does indeed support tnsnames.ora; you need to specify the location (i.e., directory) of the tnsnames.ora file in the oracle.net.tns.admin system property
    java -Doracle.net.tns_admin=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admini have working examples in my book.
    I'll have it fixed in the online doc, our printed doc is sometimes out of sync.

  • CRS-0213 error during 10g RAC installation

    The two nodes are 2 Sun machines. The Oracle CRS installation went smoothly without incidents. I then kicked in the 10g DB RAC installation. At the end of the installation, I got error. I took a snapshot here:
    http://bostonfx.com/temp/ora10g.gif
    Any advise is much appreciated,
    Lucas

    Hi Lucas -
    This sounds simliar to Bug 3584146 PRKR-1008 adding instance to CRS via SRVCTL. The published workaround follows:
    The workaround is to give permissions on the vip resources for all oracle users on the machine.
    crs_setperm ora.<nodename>.vip -u user:<orauser1>:rwx
    crs_setperm ora.<nodename>.vip -u user:<orauser2>:rwx
    Repeat this for all oracle users on the system.
    Hope this helps

  • OBIEE 10g supported platform details

    Hi,
    we are installing OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 version with Jboss 5.1. But according to the SRSP(http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e10417.pdf) it says jboss 4.0 only supported. So how can we proceed here? Any help would be appreciated. As we are struck in the middle of the installation.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Yeah i agree with that as i have tried installing obiee 11g on my laptop and played with it. But i still see obiee 11g is unstable many issues and many bugs. Not sure but we are updating oracle about those bugs and they say thanks for the info we are working on it and wait for next release.
    btw thanks for your reply. So is it compatible with obiee 10g the application server jboss 5.1 version?
    Thanks,
