Dear experts,
I went to download OCFS files from recomended site, but I did not find OCFS files for the kernel version 2.6.18-8.el5(which is the version of my linux server 5). there was OCFS for 2.4.21-27.EL, now tell me, is it going to work for my kernel version?. if not then where can I get the compatible OCFS from ?

Link to download of OCFS2 for your kernel.

  • Ocfs for new suse kernel 2.4.21-203

    Hi!
    We arecurrently evaluating 9.2 RAC on Linux (SuSE Enterprise Server 8 / United Linux. We have kernel 2.4.21-198-smp and there was an rpm ocfs-2.4.21.198-1.0.11-1.i586.rpm on http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs for this kernel. Now SuSE has recomended an update to kernel 2.4.21.203 because of some recent security issues. But where do I get the (supported) rpm for this ? Do I have to uninstall the ocfs-2.4.21.198 before updating the kernel ?
    TIA, Roland Steinmeyer

    Hi, please send me the error log file,
    Thanks.

    Does anybody know from where I can download ASM module (RPM or source) for kernel 2.4.21-27EL . I managed to install ocfs module with that kernel using ENBD - project for network shared storage, but the ASM module for kernels 2.4.21x is compiled for 2.4.21-19
    the source supports only 2.4.19...
    Any idea anybody?

  • Oracleasm RPMs not available at OTN for Kernel version 2.6.18-155

    Hi,
    I have installed RHEL5.4, 64-bit. Oracleasm rpms are not present at OTN for kernel version 2.6.18-155.el5 (RHEL 5.4, 64-bit).
    I am referring to the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/rhel5-084877.html#oracleasm_rhel5_amd64
    Please advise from where to download the packages.

    Hi!
    Don't use ASMLib, it will be no longer available, it will only came in Oracle Unbreackeable Kernel for Linux 6.
    I'm highly recomend you to use a newr version of Linux such as 5.5 or above.
    The easly way to set the permissions on your devices is with a /etc/init.d script that do the job.
    Here is an example:
    #! /bin/bash
    # chkconfig: 2345 25 19
    # description: Set ASM Permissions on to devices at boot.
    case "$1" in
    start)
    /bin/chown oracle:oinstall /dev/sdb1
    /bin/chmod 0660 /dev/sdb1
    stop)
    #do nothing
    status)
    ls -l /dev/sdb1
    echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop|status}"
    exit 1
    esac
    exit o
    You need to replace the /dev/sdb1 for your acctual partitions.
    The other way to do this job y using UDEV rules (as my concern, is the finest way to do this)
    pleas refear to this link on how to use udev:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/linux/udev-scsi-rules-configuration-in-oracle-linux-5-and-6.php#create_udev_rules_file
    Hope it's helps.

  • Bridge OCF for windows

    Hello,
    I currently work on linux. To communicate with the card, I use PCSC, then a bridge PCSC-OCF and OCF. This architecture is easy to implement on linux.
    But how to make with Windows.
    Where find PCSC for Windows?
    Where find bridge PCSC-OCF for Windows?
    Think you

    I use PCSC, then a bridge PCSC-OCF and OCF.
    But how to make with Windows. PC/SC driver normally come with the driver of your Smartcard reader.
    Where find PCSC for Windows? In Windows 2K/XP it is already included ("smartcard" service).
    Where find bridge PCSC-OCF for Windows?Everything you need in OCF is to add
    com.ibm.opencard.terminal.pcsc10.Pcsc10CardTerminalFactory
    to your list of OpenCard.terminals in the opencard.properties and make sure that
    pcsc-wrapper-src.jar is in your classpath, when running your client-application.

  • Checking for kernel lock contention in OEL 5.5

    Is there a lockstat utility for Enterprise Linux 5? Or how could I check for kernel lock contention?
    I found a lockstat rpm for RHEL and Centos 4 at http://packages.sw.be/lockstat/, but I could not find it in the distribution of version 5?
    The rpm package installs, but the command "lockstat on" shows /proc/lockmeter: No such file or directory
    I found an interesting document named "Linux Kernel Lock Profiling with LockStat" at:
    http://dolavim.us/blog/2007/11/06/linux-kernel-lock-profiling-with-lockstat/
    The document outlines the use of /proc/lock_stat, which is a text file - not using a "lockstat" utility.
    From what I understand, I have to rebuild the kernel with "CONFIG_LOCK_STAT=y", or wait for kernel 2.6.24 to be released?
    Do I have to build a custom kernel to check for lock contention, or are there perhaps other options?
    Thanks!

    SQL> SELECT INDEX_NAME,INDEX_TYPE,UNIQUENESS FROM DBA_INDEXES WHERE TABLE_NAME='DATA_DATA';
    INDEX_NAME INDEX_TYPE UNIQUENES
    CIDX BITMAP NONUNIQUE
    VIDX BITMAP NONUNIQUEYou have bitmap indexes here on a table being inserted into. Bitmap Indexes are another source of lock(and deadlock) in OLTP application. You said that the SQLloader was the unique active program but may be you are also triggering another procedure after the load. Procedure in which you might be using also automomous transactions and so on...
    Check first if your table is subject to DML operation in a a multi-user concurrent accesss and in which case you have to get rid of those bitmap indexes

  • Patch / workaround for kernel 2.6 (no components in pallet)

    Since I've read about this complaint all over the net, and, after three weeks without problems, I seem to have solved the issue locally (at least for Fedora Core II), here's a mini tutorial on how to do a patch so that Creator sucessfully copies the required user files to your ~/.Creator directory.
    First, a bit of background. The reason the copy fails is because Creator uses FileChannel.transferTo, which is broken for JDK 1.4 under kernel 2.6 by changed behaviour of the sendfile kernel routine. The "fix" for the Sun jvm is to set the transferSupported flag of the runtime jar's FileChannelImpl class to false in the static initializer. We don't have the source and the flag is not publicly accessible, so we're going to patch the bytecode and put the patched class on Creator's bootclasspath...
    0.) if you've alread started the IDE once, rembember to delete the ~/.Creator directory. The copy happens only when a user starts the IDE and it is noted that the .Creator durectory does not exist.
    1.) Get and install NetBeans if you don't have it.
    2.) Get and install the jasm.nbm (http://jasm.netbeans.org/servlets/ProjectDownloadList)
    3.) unjar the java installation's rt.jar somewhere
    4.) mount the directory where you unjared the rt.jar
    5.) open the mounted folder and navigate to /sun/nio/ch package
    6.) right-click over the FileChannelImpl class, and pick the Tools/Decompile by JRAW menu item
    7.) the action should result in three new items in the file tree
    8.) Double-click the new item: FileChannelImpl.jraw to edit it
    9.) Do a search in the editor for "transferEnabled" You should find the first occurence around here:
    <snip>
    cp146: Utf8 "transferFrom" // transferFrom
    cp147: Utf8 "transferFromArbitraryChannel" // transferFromArbitraryChannel
    cp148: Utf8 "transferFromFileChannel" // transferFromFileChannel
    cp149: Utf8 "transferSupported" // transferSupported
    cp150: Utf8 "transferTo" // transferTo
    cp151: Utf8 "transferTo0" // transferTo0
    cp152: Utf8 "transferToArbitraryChannel" // transferToArbitraryChannel
    cp153: Utf8 "transferToDirectly" // transferToDirectly
    </snip>
    But the occurrence we're really interested in is here:
    <snip>
    cp396: Field #cp207 #cp294 // sun.nio.ch.FileChannelImpl.readable boolean
    cp397: Field #cp207 #cp295 // sun.nio.ch.FileChannelImpl.transferSupported boolean
    cp398: Field #cp207 #cp296 // sun.nio.ch.FileChannelImpl.writable boolean
    </snip>
    This is where we find out the ConstantPool handle for the field itself.
    10.) do a search from where you found the cp### for the field. In my case, it is cp397.
    You should end up here, which is the static initializer for the class:
    AccessFlag { ACC_STATIC }
    // <clinit> () -> void
    #cp8 // Utf8 "<clinit>"
    #cp232 // Utf8 "()V"
    Attributes {
    Name #cp10 // Utf8 "Code"
    Len 117 {
    MaxStack 2
    MaxLocals 0
    Code { // 69
    getstatic #cp400 // 178 1 144
    ifnonnull 15 // 199 0 15
    ldc #cp6 // 18 6
    invokestatic #cp463 // 184 1 207
    dup // 89
    putstatic #cp400 // 179 1 144
    goto 6 // 167 0 6
    getstatic #cp400 // 178 1 144
    invokevirtual #cp411 // 182 1 155
    ifne 7 // 154 0 7
    iconst_1 // 4
    goto 4 // 167 0 4
    iconst_0 // 3
    putstatic #cp394 // 179 1 138
    iconst_1 // 4
    putstatic #cp397 // 179 1 141
    invokestatic #cp488 // 184 1 232
    invokestatic #cp433 // 184 1 177
    putstatic #cp393 // 179 1 137
    new #cp210 // 187 0 210
    dup // 89
    invokespecial #cp467 // 183 1 211
    putstatic #cp405 // 179 1 149
    ldc #cp5 // 18 5
    ldc #cp4 // 18 4
    invokestatic #cp487 // 184 1 231
    putstatic #cp403 // 179 1 147
    return // 177
    Exceptions {
    Attributes {
    Name #cp17 // Utf8 "LineNumberTable"
    Len 30 {
    0 26
    35 367
    39 877
    42 878
    48 879
    58 880
    68 882
    11.) do the patch
    As you can see, above, the (cp397) field value is initialized to "true" (iconst_1, putstatic #cp397)
    You want to change it so that it is initialized to false, like this:
    putstatic #cp394 // 179 1 138
    iconst_0 // 4
    putstatic #cp397 // 179 1 141
    invokestatic #cp488 // 184 1 232
    12.) recompile the jraw files to a class file. Just select them and choose Build/Compile.
    13.) make a jar with just the new, patched class file. Inside the jar, the file must sit in /sun/nio/ch to preserve the package structure.
    14.) Change your Creator ide.cfg file, found in ${creator_home}/bin, so that the jar containing your patched class is prepended to creator's bootclasspath
    Here's an example (I chose to install as root and used the default install to /opt...I've since changed the min and max stack, but nothing else, except the bootclasspath specification)
    -J-Xms128m -J-Xmx128m
    -J-Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/Creator/bin/fixFileChannelImpl.jar
    -J-Xverify:none
    -J-Dorg.netbeans.do_not_warn_default_package=true
    -J-Dnetbeans.security.nocheck=true
    -J-Dsunappsrvint.home=/opt/Creator/SunAppServer8
    -jdkhome /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_05
    Hope that helps,

    Hi There,

  • I need help !! ... keyboard cures for kernel panics(??) and other problems of unknown nature

    OK, let's just start with I'm an idiot !! I know very little and more than enough to be dangerous !!
    The machine is a G4 QS 800 DP running Tiger 10.4.11, it had been working well until about 10 days / 2 weeks ago when problems started, about the same time the Firefox, 3.6.18 update came out and I installed it, the problems may have started BEFORE the FF update by a couple of hours, just not sure now.
    I was surfing the net and was interrupted with frozen, darkened screen with a multi language message saying I needed to restart the computer, OK, did that, then about an hour later the same darker screen and message, Ok do it again, then again less than an hourlater again, then 45 mins., then 1/2 hr, then another 1/2 hr, then 20 mins., it continued like this for the next 5 to 7 hours, and 9 or 10 "crashes", all the time the same message, I never saw anything else on the screen for any kind of warning or kernel panic (don't know where they show up).
    So the battery is 15 months old and tests good (bought a new one anyway, no change, same problems), did the PMU, several times, for sure wrong & to often, no help there, maybe one out of 100 times I could get it to stay on & get online for awhile by holding the command +S keys till the grey screen started, then release them, the rest of the time, it would begin to start up, 10 to15 seconds and die, ... getting very frustrated I tried the reset on the front, no change, then try the "programmers button" (I said I was dangerously smart) then combinations of PMU, reset, prog'mer buttons, Battery out PMU , battery in Pmu, everything disconnected each time, grounding myself each time, trying to not screw up, but knowing I must have many times, even tried a GOOD HDD that BDAqua checked & partitioned for me that is still blank (no OS yet) with install disc & holding C down, still no good action, for few try's I had both hdd's plugged in and got small icon's 1 & 2 for both hdd's while they were in & plugged in.
    I talked with BDAqua on saturday, late, after hours, he had already waited for me, so as I described what I had done, HE said that the PMU should be held for 20 TO 25 seconds (or longer maybe in some cases, my impression of what I was hearing), and here is the BIG THING he said that gave me an idea to ask this question, BDAqua asked if I had / suggested I try, doing the PRAM RESET 5 TIMES IN A ROW, of course I had not, and haven't yet. I did do it a few times in all that I was trying, but never in a row, because 1 time never got a positive result, I  didb't think of multiple resets (I'm not all that smart, just dangerous). but from our talk, I think I understand it to mean, It may take many ( or multiples of 5 ?) to clear out (flush out the evil demons from the kernels ???) .......
    SO MY QUESTION IS THIS; WHAT ARE THE MAGIC KEYBOARD STEPS / KEY COMBO'S, AND / OR PMU, OR RESET BUTTON, OR PROGRAMMER BUTTON SEQUENCES TO FOLLOW, BEFORE I GIVE UP AND CHANGE THE MOBO, CPU'S, OR WHATEVER, TO TRY AND SALVAGE MY G4 QS ???
    ARE THERE MULTIPLES 5 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 PMU RESETS TO CURE CERTAIN problems, like magic combinations ???)
    ....... any tricks of the trade that I can try, I have only had this machine for15 months and really like it and want cure it's troubles and WHAT EVER I DID TO IT THAT WAS WRONG !!!, it's a self esteem thing at this point, I can let it beat me because I hurt it, I must make it good to sve my own feelings, even though I did wrong, I must make ammends !!!
    Many Thanks To All That Take The Time To Read This, ...  And More Thanks to Those Who Help,  My Deepest Apprecaition To All,  ......  wayne146  .......

    Note: There is NO magic time required to clear the PMU. A firm, complete push is all that is required.

    Another myth is that more than 2 chimes during a PRAM reset resets better.

  • Is there any hope to find a cure for Kernel attacks on 2010 MBP?

    I sent this mail to apple today...My sad story with MBP
    I'm writing to you with absolute disappointment and I don't even know if I will be getting a reply or not. Its been almost 6 months now & I still cant find a fix for those "Kernel attacks" destroying my stock 2010 2.66 Ghz i7 macbook pro. Adding to my disappointment, is that I visited both authorized distributors and/or dealers in my country (Egypt - Best buy & Tradeline) & they had absolutely no idea of whats going on. That said, when i researched the error on the community forums, I found out that many others are infected with this manufacturing defect in the logic or display boards, causing black screens & system halts, where the only solution is to shutdown.  I bought my laptop from the states (LA), and I absolutely have no idea regarding apple's goodwill towards such a devastating customer experience. Please support!

    just wondering if there are any signs that indicate my Powerbook is slowly dying... it's been slowing down noticeably even with only one app running on a fresh restart

    I'm betting it's your Cisco hardware and its software driver. The driver is reported as com.cisco.nke.ipsec. I don't know what the actual driver file is called, but I would look in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder for any drivers with "cisco" in the filename. Select the item(s) then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select "Move to Trash" from the contextual menu. Do not empty the Trash as you don't want to actually erase the item(s). Shutdown and disconnect and Cisco hardware. If there is a Cisco application involved be sure it will not launch automatically at startup. Reboot the computer. If your kernel panics cease you will need to contact Cisco about upgrades that are compatible. It could also be an incompatibility between the Cisco driver and one of the other third-party drivers that are in the Extensions folder and listed in your report:

  • API for Kernel in SAP

    Hello everybody,
    1] Can someone please help me to know which Application Progamming Interface is used to interact or link the Kernel in SAP and Kernel in Windows 2003 Server.
    2]Also I wanted to know which specific cross client objects and client independent objects are affected or changed while customizing any client or making changes in any client (for eg. in Development Server) .
    3]Why SAP provides Early watch Service client 066.Can any user login in this client 066 or standard user defined in this client . By default SAP login only through this particular client 066 or can login using cilent 000 ,001 and if SAP login in the client through which Username and password it login? and what it do specifically in this this client 066.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ashish Thakkar.

    >  1] Can someone please help me to know which Application Progamming Interface is used to interact or link the Kernel in SAP and Kernel in Windows 2003 Server.
    What do you mean with "link the kernel"? The SAP kernel comes as precompiled binary - no need to "link" anything.
    >
    > 2]Also I wanted to know which specific cross client objects and client independent objects are affected or changed while customizing any client or making changes in any client (for eg. in Development Server) .
    This depends on the application - an ERP 2005 has about 50.000 tables/objects.

  • Steps for Kernel Patch Updation on Solaris 10 X4100 with 2disks mirrored

    Hi all,
    I have Solaris 10 10/06 (118855-19) installed on one of the X4100 server. This is the time for me to update the latest kernel patch (118855-36). We have two disks mirrored. My questions are,
    1) Do i need to detach any of the disk from the mirror before doing any patching.
    2) Is it possible to install the patches without detaching any disks from the mirror. (i.e. installeing patch on mirrored root filesystem)
    3) how to boot from the second disk in case the patch installation creates problem while booting up.
    Any suggestions or steps which you have already implemented for the above scenario.

    This isn't really a question for this forum, you may be better to look at some of the sys-admin forums for a complete answer.
    You should not need to break the mirror in order to apply the kernel patch, however doing so would allow for quicker recovery of the system should something go wrong during patching.
    I would strongly advise that you read the special install instructions for the kernel patch prior to installing it.

    You may also wish to use a patch cluster rather than smpatch/updatemanager, these can be downloaded from SunSolve:
