OCM certification

I am working as Senior Corporate Trainer with OU training partner. I have successfully conducted training for 11g r2 RAC , 11g Dataguard, 11g SQL Tuning, 11g Performance Tuning etc. I want to appear for OCM certification exam. I would be grateful if you could clarify whether I need to attend training for two of the above modules as per prerequisite for OCM certification?

Oracle 11g , Administrator OCM certification

Hi,
I have completed OCP certification in the developers track by clearing in the following exams : 1Z0-007 , 1Z0-147 and 1Z0-146.
I wish to become an OCM in DBA track for Oracle 11g.
Going by the steps mentioned in the Oracle certification website, I saw that the path to become an OCM would be as :
1> OCA : Clearing 1Z0-007 / 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 exams.
2> OCP : Clearing a certified hands on course followed by clearing 1Z0-053 exam and submitting a form as proof of clearing hands on training.
3> OCM : Clearing 2 of the certified courses , appearing for the OCM exam , submitting a form as proof for clearing the certified courses and submitting the required application kit.
Since, I have already cleared the exam 1Z0-007 , do I have to clear it again as part of becoming an OCA or will the previous clearing of this exam suffice ?
also , do I have to clear 1Z0-051 exam.
Please note , I have cleared 1Z0-007 around February 2010.

Since, I have already cleared the exam 1Z0-007 , do I have to clear it again...No, the one exam will serve for both certification tracks. Exam results do not expire.

Oracle 12c OCM Certification

Hi,
I have completed my 11g OCP in 2014, and I'm currently busy preparing for the 11g Performance Tuning Exam (1Z0-054).
Seeing that Oracle 12c Certification is available, I would like to know the best route to get to 12c OCM.
Do I need to first complete the 11g OCM, and then upgrade to 12c OCM?
Or, first upgrade to 12c OCP, and then go for 12c OCM?

Three Comments:
My recommendation in general would be to concentrate on getting the 12c OCP before getting the OCM.
As people approach OCM level they should be of the mindset of working things out for themselves (Including how to get to OCM). ( Having said that as you are in the midst of an honourable 11g Performance Tuning Exam (1Z0-054) I can see how you might not too much time to delve deeply).
Be aware of the pre-requisite training requirements for OCM .... several courses are required at of above the OCM level you are trying to attain. While not a problem for some; this could be expensive for others.
OCM exam sittings are sparse. The 11g DBA OCM -> 12c DBA OCM upgrade will likely appear first, following a while later by the 12c DBA OCM exam. After that has been out for maybe about a year opportunities to take 11g DBA OCM are likely to become sparse to non-existant. ( This is my view only), Thus OCM Candidates may need to think in terms of that when 11c DBA OCM exams emerges if they are unable to take (and even retake) 11g DBA OCM in well under a year they switching the target to 12c DBA OCM might be prudent.

after doing OCP ,
does Oracle Certified Rac professional , dataguard certification both would be eligible for OCM?

Oracle university only authorizes WDP providers to deliver specific authorized courses that count towards Oracle Certification under the WDP program.
For practical purposes I believe these are currently (probably) the 10g/11g DBA Admin I and 10g/11g DBA admin II.
( Quite frankly IMHO Oracle WDP are EXTREMELY disfunctional, elusive, unprofessional, incompetent, unethical and possibly abbetting fraudulency in providing clear unambiguous verifiable information as to what they are about .... and I would dearly love them to get act together and prove my IMHO wrong ... but given the currenyt state of forum I believe I am entitled to my opinion ).
Anyway back to the subject.
The is nothing to stop a WDP provider offering RAC training (and perhaps even excellent training ) ... however it would not be seen by Oracle Certification as being a course authorized and valid for certification purposes. ( Additional anyWP so providing would have to ensure no license or copyright breaches ... but this isn;t really the students problem )
Please note it is possible a few providers as well as being WDP providers are also authorized partners. In this circumstance they may be authorized by Oracle University to deliver the Oracle clusterware/RAC courses provided by Oracle University and if so Oracle certification will recognise the training.

The problem for the student is to be certain the training being offered (especially when not direct from Oracle University) is valid for Oracle Certification course requirement purposes (if that is what they need).
Your WDP institute IMHO have been helpful here that while they may be able to offer some RAC training it would (with almost 100% certainly) not be an authorized course for certification purposes.
To some extent if you start asking about OCM certification then I would have expected the OCM candidate to have thoroughly reseached the website and planned the forward path first, and have evaluated the likely versions Oracle will be providing for OCM at that course. If you are not beginning to think that way and confidently working out most things for oneself then you are not thinking and researching like an OCM !
However, as I've already indicated (and Brandye has seconded), even if you are a 10G OCP and take two approved courses, scheduling the test to become a 10G OCM is going to be difficult. I expect this to get worse when 12C comes out.

There are total 8 topics (As mentioned above) and each contains couple of questions; so guess scope is 50 questions; like they have given a crashed DB and backup... now think is it mandatory to restore/recover the datafile or only few parameter need to be corrected like that, there are to-do lists,you need to do the tasks as mentioned,but they won't tell how,so you need to choose the best way to do the question and do it in a time frame. Total 17 location in asia and 3 in India. 17 Hrs 8 topics.

Just to be clear, the OCM certification is in the DBA certification track, whereas what you just completed with the Advanced PL SQL exam is a developer certification track. There is no developer-level OCM. If you want to become an OCM, you must become an OCP in the DBA track first and then pass the 2-day hands-on course and take two qualifying courses from Oracle. Explanation
1. CRS 와 10g REAL APPLICATION CLUSTERS
CRS (Cluster Ready Services)는 10g Real Application Cluster의 새로운 기능으로,
모든 플랫폼에 대해 표준화된 클러스터 인터페이스를 제공 해 주고, 이전 버전에서는 없었던
새로운 고가용 서비스를 제공해 준다.
2. CRS 핵심 기능
CRS와 10g RAC를 설치하기 전에, CRS및 10g RAC에 대해 사전에 알아 두어야 할 사항이 있다 :
- 10g RAC를 설치를 위해서는 CRS는 사전에 설치 되고 실행되어야 한다.
- CRS는 하드웨어 공급 업체에서 제공하는 클러스터 제품 (예 : Sun Cluster,
HP Serviceguard, IBM HACMP, TruCluster, Veritas Cluster, Fujitsu Primecluster,
기타 ...) 위에서 실행 될 수도 있고, 하드웨어 공급 업체에서 제공하는 클러스터 제품
없이도 실행될 수 있다. 하드웨어 업체에서 공급하는 클러스터 제품은 9i RAC까지는 반드시
필요했지만, 10g RAC에서는 선택 사항이다.
- CRS HOME 과 ORACLE_HOME 은 반드시 다른 디렉토리에 설치 되어야 한다.
- CRS를 설치하기 전에, voting 파일 또는 OCR (Oracle Configuration Repository) 파일을
설치 할 수 있는 공유된 디렉토리 또는 디바이스가 셋업되어야 한다. voting file은 최소 20MB 정도
크기이며, OCR 파일은, 최소 100MB 크기가 되어야 한다.
- CRS 및 RAC를 설치하기 위해서는 다음과 같은 네트워크 인터페이스가 구성되어야 한다 :
- Public Interface
- Private Interface
- Virtual (Public) Interface

- CRS 설치 후 root.sh를 실행시키면 CRS 서비스를 구동시킨다. 만약 CRS가 정상적으로
구동되지 않는다면, Note 240001.1 참조.
- RAC 노드당 1개의 CRS 데모만 실행 가능.
- 유닉스 시스템의 경우, CRS 서비스는 /etc/inittab 상의 ‘respawn’ entry로 등록되어 있다.
- 네트워크 split이 있을 경우 (노드간 통신 두절) data corruption을 방지 하기 위해 하나
또는 그 이상의 노드에서 리부팅이 발생할 수 있다.
- CRS 서비스를 구동시키는 올바른 방법은 장비를 부팅시키는 것이다.
- 서비스를 중단시키는 올바른 방법은, 장비를 shutdown 시키거나, "init.crs stop" 명령을
실행시키는 것이다.
- CRS 데몬을 kill 시키는 것은 올바른 방법이 아니며, 오직 설치된 CRS를 제거한 경우에만
적용해도 되는 방법이다. (Bulletin No: 22343 참조) 이것은 , 플래그 파일에 불일치가 발생 할
수 있기 때문이다.
- 시스템 유지 보수를 위해서는, OS를 단일 사용자 모드 (single user mode)로 전환한다.
서비스 스택이 구동되면, ps -ef 명령으로 관련된 데몬 프로세스를 확인 할 수 있다 :

3. CRS DAEMON 기능

CRSD:

- '애플리케이션 자원'관리
- '애플리케이션 자원'을 구동, 정지, fail over 처리
- 애플리케이션 자원 구동/정지/점검 하기 위한 별도의 'actions'을 spawn
- OCR(Oracle Configuration Repository)의 구성 프로파일 관리
- OCR의 현재 알려진 상태를 저장
- root 권한으로 실행
- 장애 발생시 자동으로 재 구동됨
OCSSD:
- OCSSD는 RAC의 일부로, ASM과 함께 단일 인스턴스를 구성함
- 노드 멤버쉽에 대한 액세스를 제공
- 그룹 서비스 제공
- 기본적인 클러스터 lock 기능 제공
- 하드웨어 공급 업체에서 제공하는 클러스터 소프트웨어가 설치되어 있을 경우, 통합을 실시
- 하드웨어 공급 업체에서 제공하는 클러스터 소프트웨어 없이도 실행 가능
- 오라클 계정으로 실행
- 장애로 인한 종료시 시스템 리부팅됨
--- 리부팅은 split brain 현상 발생시, 데이터 corruption 방지를 목적으로 함.
EVMD:
- 특정한 사건 발생 시 이벤트 생성
- 자식 프로세스로 evmlogger를 spawn 시킴
- Evmlogger는 필요시 자식 프로세스를 spawn 시킴
- callout directory를 스캔하고 callout을 호출
- 오라클 계정으로 실행.
- 장애로 인한 종료시 자동으로 재 구동됨
4. CRS 로그 디렉토리
CRS 문제의 원인을 추적할 때는, CRS 홈 디렉토리 아래 디렉토리를 살펴보는 것이
중요하다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/crs/log - 이 디렉토리는, CRS 자원들에 대한 트레이스를 포함하며,
CRS에 의해 식별된 가입(joining), 탈퇴(leaving), 재구동(restarting), 재배치(relocating)와
관련된 정보들이 기록된다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/crs/init - crsd.bin 데몬과 관련된 모든 core dump가 기록된다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/css/log - css 로그는, 재구성(reconfiguration)이나, 성공하지
못한 체크인 (missed checkin), 클라이언트의 css listener로 부터 발생한 연결(connect) 및
연결해제(disconnect)와 관련된 모든 액션을 기록한다. 때에 따라서는 로거에서는 (auth.crit)
유형의 메시지를 남기는데 이것은 오라클에 의해 리부팅이 발생할 때 남는다. 이 정보는
리부팅이 정확히 언제 발생했는지를 확인하는데 사용될 수 있다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/css/init - 기본적으로는 ocssd로 부터의 core dump 파일을 저장하며, 프로세스의
종료가 심각한 문제로 간주되는 css 데몬의 pid 정보 또한 기록된다. css의 비정상 재 구동이 발생할
경우, core 파일은, core.<pid> 형태로 기록된다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/evm/log - evn과 evmlogger 데몬의 로그 파일이 기록된다. CRS 또는 CSS 관련 디렉토리
처럼 디버깅 용도로 자주 사용되지는 않는다.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/evm/init - EVM의 pid와 lock 파일이 저장된다. EVM으로 부터 발생한 core 파일 또한
이 디렉토리에 저장된다. 디버깅을 위해서는 Note 1812.1 참조.
$ORA_CRS_HOME/srvm/log - OCR을 위한 로그 파일.
5. CRS 자원의 상태
RAC를 설치하고, RAC root.sh을 실행시키면 VIPCA (Virtual IP Configuration Assistant)가
구동된다. crs_stat 명령을 이용하여 모든 CRS 자원을 확인할 수 있다. 예 :

Oracle Database 11g Administrator or Oracle PL/SQL and Forms Developer?

Hi,
I am thinking about doing an Oracle certification course- Oracle Database 11g Administrator or Oracle PL/SQL and Forms Developer.
Oracle Database 11g OCP and OCM certification requires 3 mandatory training courses to be completed that costs between $1900 and $3250/each. Oracle PL/SQL certication doesn't require any mandatory training course.
Which one of these would be a good choice? Please advise.

Regardless of which path you want to take, in order to get the OCP certification in either the DBA or PL/SQL developer track, you must first obtain the respective OCA certification for that track. I'm assuming that since you are still undecided in which path to take that you haven't started working on either yet. If you look at the pages for the OCA DBA and OCA PL/SQL Developer certs and what is required for each, you'll see that the first block of tests for either certification (the SQL based exams) has the same options (1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051) and passing one of those SQL based exams gives credit towards obtaining both OCA certifications. That might be a good place to start.
Doing one of these tests first might give you some extra time to decide which track you want to pursue. But as Justin said, it really depends on what you do (or plan on doing) in your career as to which path might be more beneficial for you.
As for the OCM level stuff, I wouldn't even think about it until you get the OCP. One step at a time... Same with OCP before OCA. That being said, my suggestions are just that, suggestions. You're free to take any exams/courses in any order, but you won't be able to obtain the certs until you have completed the requirements for each.

Advice needed regarding learning path

Friends, I have completed my OCP certification in 11g recently. I want to do OCM in 11g in long run. I need to learn skill-sets named RAC and Performance tuning before preparing for OCM. So what learning can I do next after OCP- RAC or Performance tuning ,any inputs will be highly appreciated !!

Too many people seem to think learning is linear. Yes, there are some things you have to learn before you can learn some other things. But "learning" Oracle never ends. Pick a subject area (RAC, or SQL, or Performance Tuning, or .. or ..). Doesn't matter which. Spend enough time with it to get a fundamental, working understanding of it. Then do the same with another subject while at the same time keep your eyes open for adding to your understanding of the first subject. "Rinse and repeat". Spend time on this and one or two other high-quality oracle forums. Participate and be willing to take your lumps and learn when you offer advice that is shot down. Build yourself a virtual test system (Opinion | Ed Stevens, DBA) and then break it. And then fix it using only the facilities you would have available to you in the real world.

About printed copy of certificate ...

I achieved the (Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate) and I downloaded the eCerticate and the logo from my certView page. I read about the Oracle logo usage guidelines but I didn't understand how to use the logo! Plus I didn't get an email notification on how to order a printed copy of the certificate and I don't know if oracle still send the card (like an id with the name of the certificate and the person who achieved it).
So should I order for a printed copy of the certificate or the eCerticate with the logo should be enough? and how to order the printed one? and does it really take up to 8 weeks?!

The OCA certifications do not have the card. Only OCP, OCE, and OCM certifications.
I have a bunch of printed certificates. They are all sitting in a file cabinet and see the light of day only when I pull the folder out to add a new one. You don't carry them to interviews -- employers never ask to see them. What would you do with it if you got it? In the US -- receiving a certificate normally takes just a few days. Overseas, yes, it can take the full eight weeks depending on the mail service of the countries involved.
I've never actually used the logos for anything. I suppose I could put them on my resume. I don't use business cards. They really mean little to me.
The real value of the certifications is in what you learn while studying for them. Once you have them, add the certification to your resume and LinkedIn page so that prospective employers can see that you have achieved them. If employers ask you to verify your credentials, CertView has a capability to email credentials to 3rd parties. That's a better way of verifying your certification status to employers than the paper certificate in any event.
