OCP 10g exam prep class requirment 3000$

After OCA 10g, To appear int OCP 10g exam, requirment is that one should attend the preparation class which cost 3000$, What if one can't afford this, Is there any way to skip this class or attend some other prereq.....

(I would like somebody to correct me if I am wrong in my understanding)
While it is an absolute must that you should attend a hands-on session from Oracle University as a 10g OCP requirement, It is NOT AN absolute must that you shell out $3000 USD. You can pick your course. See below for more details.
http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/dba10g_ocpcoursereq_approvedlist.html
Here, you will find that, If you are looking for a cost-effective option, and don't care which course you go to, but also satisfy the OCP 10g course requirement, go with
"Oracle Database 10g: SQL Tuning Workshop" which is only $1800 USD ! (Well, only is not a good word to use here....however fits best in this context !!)

  • Regarding  OCP-10g Exams Certification

    Dear Team,
I am planning for OCP-10g Exams (042/043). I have done OCA 9i (DBA Track) last year.
With my current Project recommendation, I am going to attend "Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g: Manage Clusterware and ASM Release 2" training by Oracle University on 11-Apr-2011.
As per compulsory Training Program for OCP-10g, do I need to take any other Training related to Oracle 10g or the above training (11g) will be suffice for OCP-10g Certification (If I complete Exams 042/043)
Kindly update me, so that I can plan accordingly.
    Thanks,

So, what do you suggest regarding the certification which one would be better 10g OCP(1z0-042/043) or directly 11g OCP(1zo-052/053)?
    Thanks,
TusarIncreasingly an 11g DBA OCP certification will be preferable to a 10g DBA OCP certification.
Most sites will be looking to upgrade existing 10g databases to 11g databases over the next couple of years, and relatively few sites will have 10g and not be looking to upgrade.
I would say the following reasons are why someone would want to go for 10g DBA OCP rather than 11g DBA OCP.
    (1) They have attended training which is a suitable qualifying course for 10g DBA OCP but not for 11g DBA OCP. This can be a very important (big money) reason.
    (2) They are very familiar with 1z0-043 topics that are relevant to 10 DBA OCP but less familiar with 1z0-053 topics.
    (3) They wish to get both certifications via 1z0-042 - 1z0-043 - 1z0-050 for instance (you could also do 1z0-052+1z0-053 instead of 1z0-050). Obvioulsy this takes time and expense.
In general I suspect study for 1z0-052 might take a number of people a little longer than 1z0-042, and the study for 1z0-053 might take maybe a couple of weeks longer than for 1z0-043.
    Overall the choice is yours.

    Hello
I passed the 10g OCP exam... (1z0-042 and 1z0-043) However the certificate was not recognized.
    My 11g OCP is ok...
Are you sure I do not need to submit the 11g Administration Workshop 2 for 10g OCP cert. Path??
Should I review any step? Can I submit the same course twice for different 11g and 10g certification path??

  • Hands on practice for OCP 10g

Hi all… I don’t know whether I am posting this message to a wrong forum.
Though I am not a regular writer here but I used to get knowledge through this forum. Next week I am going to do OCP 10g administration paper II but I have some doubts. I know that only after finishing this exam I will not get certificate until and unless I do the hands on practice course. Do I have to do this course after clearing exam or before? Now I am working in UAE here all educational courses are not affordable so can I do this in India I mean is it possible to write the exam in one country and do the hands on practice in different country? Is there any time limit which I have to finish these hands on practice after clearing this exam? Hope I will get the needful…Thanking you all…
    Regards…

You will not get the OCP certification until after you have completed the course requirements. There is form you need to fill out in order to show you have met the requirements.
    http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/handsoncourse_form.html
As far as a time limit, you generally have until the exam is retired in order to meet the requirements. Oracle announces the retirement dates for exams well in advance.
I do not believe Oracle is concerned about where you take the course requirement, they are concerned more with the class an who presents the material.

  • Difference between Upgrade to Oracle 11g Exam and the OCP 11g exam

Is there a difference in the Oracle Database 11g exam and OCP 11g exam?
Say for example, i am an OCP 10g and I took the New Features Course for 11g. Then I will upgrade to OCP 11g
    or
I will take all the courses for 11g then take OCP (do not worry, money is not an issue in this case)
Is there a difference between the two in terms of the examination?
Will the exams for Upgrade to OCP11g and OCP11g the same?
Which one is harder? or easier?
Thanks. hope to see your feedback

I am sorry. But i din't quite understand the explanation.
Correct me please if i am wrong.
    As I understand you:
    1. I am on OCP 10g
    2. I will need to take the exams (no need to get additional training) that need to be taken to be an OCP 11g which includes the following:
    - 1z0-051: Intro to SQL 11g
    - 1z0-052: Admin I 11g (if passed then OCA)
    - 1z0-053: Admin II 11g (if passed then OCP)
Is this correct? Can I put it this way.
I apologise if i am being explicit here but I am just being able to cover all angles.
If a person is 10g OCP DBA (and has proof of this as a valid certificate from oracle or can see this on their certification status at certview.oracle.com .... I say this because some people with a 1z0-043 exam pass only may incorrectly claim they are a 10g DBA OCP) then the following routes from 10g DBA OCP to 11g DBA OCP are possible:
    1) By passing 1z0-050 ... the 11g DBA OCP should be granted with no further requirements other than the 10g DBA OCP
    2) By passing 1z0-052 and 1z0-053 ....... HOWEVER .....
..... It is possilble some 10g DBA OCP may not have passed an SQL exam in the past (1z0-051/047/-007/001) and if this is the case one of 1z0-051/1z0-047/1z0-007 will also need to be passed on this route (I would recommend 1z0-051).
( Essentially route (2) is valid for any DBA OCP; there is a 1z0-055 single upgrade exam for 9i DBA OCP's)
It is recommended to find and check your existing certification under certification history (+not exam history ... that doesnt matter for this purpose+) under certview.oracle.com before starting on this route.

  • Design practices from the CLD Exam Prep Guide

I have a question about design practices as stated in the CLD Exam Prep Guide found at   http://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/certification/cld/cld_exam_prep_guide_english.pdf
        Please refer to statements
2.e.1. Set the value or attributes of a control, statically using the property dialog box of an object, or dynamically using Property Nodes.
2.e.2. Initialize or set control values at application, load, start, and stop.
4.a.4. Use local variables to update controls.
Because the words initialize and set and update all mean to change the value and two different methods are suggested to do so, I first saw this as contradictory.  Assuming there is no contradiction, it should be very clear when, where, and why each method is used.
From section 2.e I understand this to mean you should change (set) a control value at application, load, start, and stop by using Property Nodes.  Thus, application, load, start, and stop shall be clearly identified within your block diagram to avoid misunderstanding.
From section 4.a I understand this to mean you should change (update - as you might do repeatedly within a while loop) a control value by using local variables everywhere else in your block diagram.  If I understand this correctly, there is no contradiction.  Otherwise....

    Scott,
Thank you for drawing my attention to this thread.  I understand your confussion but, there is no contradiction.  I will attempt to clairify the statements.
Section 2 addresses design of the GUI or, how to set up the user experience.  Several questions any developer needs to ask are:
Is the data represented correctly? (what data type is needed?)
How will the user change this data? (Enum / Ring / Combo box pull-down, maybe the increment / decrement buttons, Perhaps direct text entry from the keyboard? If so do we wish to update value while typing or end text entry with "Enter"?)
How can I make it "Pretty?"  (What colors are approachable, how can I present logical groupings of the data the user needs....?)
Section 2 is all about the user.  Your application will be used by users and, they need to interact with your product.  Design the interface correctly and they will never notice, design it poorly and they will wish to break you nose because the software just does not "FEEL" right.
    Section 4 addresses Programing practices.
    Avoid Localitis
    Avoid sequenceitis
    don't ABUSE Globals
    use common design patterns
Basically "Write Software" not "Functional spaghetti code"
Writting "Good Software" in LabVIEW is one of the things that CAN BE DONE with LabVIEW.  Unfortunatly, because LabVIEW is often approached by people with no understanding of Software Engineering principals, many LabVIEW applications fall into the "Functional Code" bucket and are poor "Software".
The CLD exam will require you to domenstrate that you can apply software engineering principals in the LabVIEW IDE.
    Good Luck-  Sling some wires!

  • How can i pass OCP 10G?

    i passed 1z0-042 exam.
    i wanna pass 1z0-043 or ocp 10G.
tell me, how can i pass this exam?

Fahd is right. The art of practicing can only make one pass in exams like this. Problems are now becoming scenarios based, so unless you are familiar with the scenarios, its difficult to pass these exams. Read the book and practice. You are done.

Not many have been reviewed, and in general IMHO the reviews tend to be poor on amazon.co.uk. At one point I given one reviews comments I even wondered if half the material was plagurised or evn brain dump .... i tend to think its probably more exam cram style ... but I am only basing this on a quick reading of a couple of reviews and page count of the book.
As far as I can tell the publishers "Emereo Pty Limited" have some bestselling stuff with regard to ITIL V3 by different authors.
In general IMHO it's probably best to stick to the Oracle Press / Sybex Offerings which, despite their faults, have known pedigree. (Do remember though these have not been updated for 10gR2 or the latest topics and they can contain study areas).

My personal suggestion is to use practice exams in the Oracle Press / Sybex books first and then buy Transcender if you need more. Be sure you buy from Transcender (Kaplan) and not a fake site.

  • Study material for the 1Z0-042 Oracle 10g exam

What is the best book to purhcase for the OCA 10g exam.. I've read some not got reviews about the Sybex OCA book
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCA-Oracle-Administration-Study-1Z0-042/dp/0782143679/ref=sr_1_1/026-0307472-6450854?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185865079&sr=8-1
and some outstanding ones for the Osborne book
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Database-Certification-Guide-Osborne/dp/0072257903/ref=pd_bbs_1/026-0307472-6450854?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185865135&sr=8-1
    Whats your thoughts ?

Those are regular references to certification exams study material. But I suggest you to use the Oracle guides found at the official Certification guide, this will be useful to identify the specific topics you have to be focused on. Then install your 10gR2 database and read through reference manuals and practice, practice, and practice. Most of the material for certification is theoretical oriented, instead of practical oriented.

    Hello Neil and 355099,
Both your links are helpful and i was able to find the centers. I had earlier looked at the courses and schedules and assumed that the same offered by and Oracle partner or authorized center might be less money. Anyways in case some one wants to take the course outside US here's the link - http://www.oracle.com/education/partners/partners.html#5

I am studying for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification. I have looked at the books on amazon and would like your opinion on book selection. In the past I have found the self-pace exam prep books by microsoft to my liking. If you know of any
web sites that contain information on how to prepare for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification that would great too. I think I am going to setup a lab using Windows Server 2012 R2 machines to assist my learning so information on that topic would be great.

I will move the thread to the learning section, as maybe other users got other ressource of value.

  • OCP 11g Exam material

I am wondering that oracle has published any book for OCP 11g Exam?

I agree with orafad, there are couple of things which needs to happen before you expect the "material" to be out for 11g....first off the product should be out (no estimated date yet!), then the Beta test would announced (which usually takes about 6 months from the time the new product is released), and in the meantime, authors would write books and SelfTestSoftware will come up with the sample questions and so on.... Apart from all these, we have to spend at least some amount of time in gaining familiarity with the new product and understand its features as so on so forth. My 2 cents.
