OCP path requirement?

Hi Gurus,
I've couple of questions regarding OCP requirement,
currently myself got an OCA cert. thru self study and planning to go into OCP 11g.
inorder to become OCP, I must attend and completed the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses.
so my pick is the Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop II Release 2, AM I be able to enroll for it?
as I saw the requirement for Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop II Release 2 is Workshop I Release 2.
is my OCA equals to Workshop I or I must enroll Workshop I class inorder to enter Workshop II class? as I never enrolled any class before.
Please advice
Thanks.

Thanks.Hi and welcome to the forum!
There's a list of courses at certification page and you can easily pick any course you want to attend. If you're OCA 11g, you need to attend one of the courses that's must + pass Admin 2 exam. That's all :)
Here's the list of approved hands on courses for 11g:

  • Completed OCA. Unable to decide the OCP path. Plz guide

    Hi,
I am working as a PL/SQL Developer (for 3 years). Seeking expertise in the development (not interested in DBA side)
Completed Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA (cleared 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147).
    Willing to complete OCP sertification.
    Please suggest the OCP Path.
    (1)Advanced PL/SQL Developer (1Z0-146)
    (2)Oracle Forms Developer OCP(1Z0-141)
Not able to choose the OCP path as I was not clear picture about the Oracle Forms and the forms future.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lok

    Lok,
In my mind, that's an easy choice. You're working as a PL/SQL Developer, so get the cert which confirms the ability you're already using, 1z0-146.
As someone who's studying for this same test, however, I'm finding there are no materials expressly created for preparing for this one. You'll have to go to Oracle's documentation to prepare. The only practice test for it is from uCertify, and having used that one, I don't really feel ready for the test. Self Test Software was going to come out with a practice test, and have postponed it indefinitely. However, they do have a practice test for 1z0-141.

There's no any special 9i OCP logo. You can put just "Oracle Certified Professional" logo for this

  • Purpose of instructor led training requirement for OCP?

What is the purpose of requiring OCP candidates to take an instructor led course? It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?
And "To prepare for the OCA/OCP examinations, you can attend Oracle University instructor-led training courses, you can study Oracle University online learning material, or you can read this book." (pg. XXIX). Prepare for the exams, sure. But why would such a book omit the not insignificant detail that a perhaps expensive course is required to get the OCP? Seems discourteous to the reader.
    From http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5 via http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=198&p_org_id=&lang=
I say it seems random and superfluous because of the following list:
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals l Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I Ed 1.1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop II
    * Oracle Database 11g: Data Warehousing Fundamentals"
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. Obviously, one should choose a course with higher-level content. But I'm not sure I understand the logic of the OCA-grade courses being eligible. And for those funding certification without financial assistance from an employer, the question that suggests is this: what is the least expensive way to satisfy the "instructor led" course requirement? I cheapest price I see from Oracle is a 3 day class costing $1,800. It would also cost 3 days of vacation time, or unpaid leave, if an employer is not supportive of certification.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Hans.
TO expose the candidate to techniques related to the new features rather than traditional techniques that are commonplace in the industry. That makes sense to me. But many of us like to tinker with new features on our own.In my experience, many, many more people want the OCP without doing any work. Some will use pure memorization or out and cheating to get there.
It's unfortunate that you and I get penalized by those.
    >
And to ensure that the has had at least some hands-on time, instead of only pure theory. While some people may get hands-on at work, many others do not
have that opportunityh, especially in the are of new features. Then it might make sense for OCP certification to allow submission of proof of work experience in place of the HOC, as is the case with other professional certifications.
    Yes, that would be nice.
But difficult to verify. and you would be surprised how many organizations have very narrow definitions of the job. Experimenting not allowed in some places.
It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Sad, from an instructors and OCP's point of view, to hear you think of it that way.I don't mean to say there isn't anything new any of us couldn't pick up, say, even from an Intro to SQL course. There's a vastness to most technology topics and we can't master every facet. But the cost/benefit ratio may be terribly low for those who are already Oracle professionals with many years of on the job experience. The reality as well is that some instructors are duds--that's the case anywhere. And for my learning style, I prefer self-guided / on-my-own study.
Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training. No doubt.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The
OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?A topic to discuss with the authors, and publisher. We (the user community with whom you are talking) have little to no control over this.Wonder if the authors participate in these forums. I realize you, as a user, have no control over this. But a book blessed by Oracle via Oracle Press, I respectfully submit, can and should do better--by including details about the HOC requirement.
Some do. But much more effetive would be to lodge a formal complaint or inquiry.
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
...All of which will ensure you have had time becoming acquainted with SQLPLus, DBControl, and perhaps SQLDeveloper.I already use all 3 tools. Would love to take all the courses listed; but I'm not independently wealthy or otherwise.
    So would I. ;-)
As well as logging in (you would be surprised how many OCA candidates do not know how), these all give you an opportunity to issue SQL and PL/SQL
commands. Scary, but seems beside the point. The HOC requirement is one solution to this problem, but it seems like a sub-optimal one. Again, this punishes Oracle professionals already working in the field who'd like to become certified. Why is there no regard for them? One way to correct this, if this is a genuine concern on Oracle's part, is to include a "live" aspect to the exams. Then, if this causes a fail, those who flunk might be interested in taking HOCs to remedy this. In this day and age, I'm certain training could involve interactive SQL*PLUS sessions, etc. Only a failure of imagination and will could prevent I suspect; particularly in a world of virtualization. I'd consider a redesign of exams before I'd require people to pay for classes they may be unable to pay for. It's a bit of an insult to working Oracle professionals who want to add certification.
I agree to some extent. Again, the issue is the consistency in experience. I have met people with 10 years of experience, and others with 10 times 1 year of experience.
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. I wish this was consistently true. Then I mispoke. But the HOC still punishes existing Oracle professionals.
I sympathize. I'm an independent, and all exams and certification costs come out of my own (corporate=me) pocket. But life in the professional fast lane is not
cheap. This topic has been the source of some contention for quite some time.
Unfortunately a number of people have been unscrupulous in their method of getting certification - cheating, using gunners, and so on - and I see this as one of
the few ways to combat the issue. If the cheating issue is just left alone, the value of OCP (and any other certification) is effectively lost. The unscrupulous, I'm afraid, will always be with us. This problem is not solved, I'm also afraid, by requiring a costly HOC. It is in my opinion one potential solution of many, and not at all the best one. I wonder how other vendors with certifications handle this. I do know that some industry-generic certifications require proof of X years of work in the field (e.g. GISPs), as well as providing proof of various contributions to the field. This could be gamed as well I suppose. But the honest should not be punished along with the dishonest.Basically I agree with the sentiment. Implementation is the issue.
    >
Bottom line: in my view, a few alternate solutions to the HOC are:
    1) Allow submission of work credentials to substitute for the HOC
    2) Incorporate hands-on aspects to the exam, e.g. a SQL*PLUS simulator.
I'm sure the brilliant minds at Oracle, or a suitable contractor, could easily accomplish #2. And #1 might be a true bar-raiser. It seems highly unlikely to me that, say, requiring an Intro to SQL HOC course raises the bar more than a few millimeters. There have been many discussions around this. Several of us have even considered non-vendor certifications as a route to accomplish this.
It is an imperfect world. But hopefully the steps will correct some of the deficiencies.
I am sure Paul and the rest of the Certification team would be happy to hear more feedback on how to implement practical verifiable real-world experience alternatives to the HOC that do not increase Oracle's costs.
    >
Since both are unlikely to happen any time soon, what is the least expensive option for the HOC and where do I find a list of courses and institutions that offer them? In my view, Oracle should provide this information as a courtesy. No reason not to unless there is a revenue motive; and the author of the blog posts you sent me assures us the addition of the HOC is not a revenue enhancement maneuver. I'd be more inclined to believe it if those words were backed-up with helpful actions like the one I've proposed--since such a thing seems not to exist. All courses and course locations are available through http://education.oracle.com (and have been available for years) as well as the price. Oracle's policy does not allow for much price variation for education. The exception is when bulk purchased are negotiated, which is outside what you and I can talk with them about.

  • OCP 10g path is pending

    Hi,
I completed 10g OCP exams(042 & 043)  when Oracle had tie up with Prometric, my training is still pending to complete 10g OCP path. I can see my exam history in "CertView" of Oracle but can't see same history in "Pearson VUE".
<> I'm planning to complete 10g training to full fill 10g OCP path.
Is it ok if I complete training and submit Course Submission form through Pearson VUE?
<> I've been writing for same queries to "[email protected]" but not getting any response.
It is little bit urgent. Please guide me.
    Thanks,
    Mujeeb

I do not believe that Pearson Vue will ever show your results from Prometric.  It doesn't matter -- Certview is what is important.  So long as your Pearson Vue account is using the same Oracle Testing ID as is listed in the 'Certification History' tab of Certview -- any tests/etc. that you submit through Pearson Vue will be assigned to you properly in Certview.  For that matter -- the Course Submission form itself contains the Testing ID.
Generally I recommend that support requests be submitted through the Oracle University Support form (URL below).  It still takes 3-5 business days to get a response.  In any event, unless there is a question you didn't supply here... you shouldn't need it this time.

  • Clarification Request on New Solaris Cert Exam Requirements.

    Regarding:
Important Changes to Java, and Oracle Solaris Certifications
Beginning August 1, 2011, Java Architect, Java Developer, Solaris System Administrator and Solaris Security Administrator certification path requirements will include a new mandatory course attendance requirement.
Candidates may earn their certifications using the current track requirements found on the Oracle Certification website through July 31, 2011 .....References:
    1) http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=449
    2) SCSA/OSSA 10 OCP Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=328
    3) SCSEA/OSSESA 10 OCE Oracle Certified Expert, Oracle Solaris 10 Security Administrator : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=330
Reference (1) seems to indicate candidates wishing to obtain both OSSA and OSSESA would need to attend two classes, one for each.
    - Or is it that a someone already SCSA/OSSA would not have to attend a further classs for OSSESA (As would be the case for DBA 10 OCP/RAC 10 OCE).
    - If two classes are required, and a candidate has attended System Administration for the Solaris 10 OS Part 2 which is a common pre-req for both exams, would that single class be sufficient for both exams.
From my point of view, and I suspect a lot of other are in my situation, having an existing SCSA 10.
.... Does this mean that post July 31 2001 if it was desired to gain the OSSESA 10 OCE would a course then be needed to be attended after that date?
.... Looking forward to Solaris 11; does this mean existing existing OSSA/SCSA 10 holder will need to attend a course for the upgrade for what I assume will be Solaris 11 certifications at some point.
    Thanx - bigdelboy

but it is true that you need to attend the required course separately for each certification, sometime this sounds crazy to me, where courses are very costly and it is mandatory to have them before you can write the exam.. Course are good specially for those who does not believe on self-study and specially who has got enough money to throw on.. sometime I do not find doing course was worth paying.. Course also depends on the Instructor, if he is good, you can benefit most but if he is not good then you feel lost money.I am assuming you response in this section is in terms of a question rather that an having an authorative source such as the link I gave earlier. While the webpage pubished earlier would seem authorative IMHO is is possilbe it is incomplete or contains an ambiguity or error (bigdelboy is suspicious and solaris can slow due to people who shout at their computers http://blogs.sun.com/brendan/entry/unusual_disk_latency perhaps causing the correct information some time to arrive).
Also it is worth remembering Oracle University have for a lot of courses a +satisifation guarentee' to retake the course if you were not satisfied (you still have to spend resource yourself reattending).  (NB: WDP doesn't have this).

  • How do I stop iCal from changing the server path of CalDAV accounts?

I'm using Davical as a calendar server for our family. Some may wonder why I use Davical and not iCloud. I do for one reason...there is no way to disable getting other users' alarms on the iPhone. I want to be able to view my wife's calendar but not get her alarms and have her be able to view my calendar and not get my alarms.
So, now onto the issue with server path setting changing in iCal. We each have our own calendar set up within our own accounts on our Davical server. We each have read access to the other's calendar. Within iCal account settings I have her account set up on my Mac with my username/password (jason/****) and, under server settings, the server path points to her calendar /caldav.php/juiper/). After a few days, sometimes just a few hours, suddenly I will have duplicate events throughout my calandar in iCal. Going to preferences I will see that the server path for her calendar will have been changed to the location of my calendar (/caldav.php/jason/). I'll correct the server path, restart iCal and then the calander will be correct for a while unitl the server path is automatically and incorrectly changed again and I must manually correct it again.
    Thanks!

My coworkers and I use DavMail to share access to a shared Exchange calendar, authenticating with our own ADS credentials. We also see the behavior where iCal will reset the CalDav calendar path to the username (our own) that is authenticating to the CalDav service. In Lion this wasn't a deal breaker for us. While very annoying, the work around was simple. Update the path via preferences, and restart iCal. However in Mountain Lion, the issue has become a lot more difficult to fix. It's no longer a matter of updating the path via preferences and restarting.
In Mountain Lion the solution to change the CalDav path back to the original path requires you to edit the file ~/Library/Calendars/<somehash>.caldav/Info.plist
Contained within this file is a value "CalendarHomePath", simply update the string to your desired path, clear out the 'Calendar Cache' file for good measure, then restart iCal.

  • Path palette: What's wrong with "path share" and "path exclude"?

Hi everybody. First of all: Sorry for my english, but I hope someone can understanding me.
Well, I want to work with Fireworks in the future because I think that this programm keep in some situation more efficience as Photoshop... So I was trying to learn how this programm is working.
Since some days I make some experiments with Path's, because I like to work with Illustrator as well. But now, I am still going crazy because I don't understanding 2 options. I don't know the english names but In the path palette does they have this Icons:
The first option (Pfade teilen) is "path share" and the second one (Pfade ausschließen) is free translate "path exclude"
My question is: When I can use this 2 Options? I really did everything but nothing was working

Thanks for posting about this issue! I've taken a look at the "Combine Paths" operations in the Paths panel in both Fireworks CS6 and CS5 on my Mac, and noticed several bugs. Between you and I, here's a summary of what we've found:
    Fireworks CS6, Version 12.0.0.236, WIN, 7, 64 Bit, SP 1
Exclude Paths - Does not work.
Fireworks CS6, Version 12.0.0.236, Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
Divide Paths - No effect on rectangles.
Exclude Paths - Requires 2 clicks for rectangles - one to ungroup rectangles and another to apply path operation.
Fireworks CS5, Version 11.1.0.205, Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
Divide Paths - Works like Exclude Paths.
Undo - Deletes previous unrelated non-path operation. For example:
    Draw two ellipses.
    Draw a rectangle.
Select two ellipses and apply Combine Paths operation.
    Undo (Command-Z).
    The rectangle disappears!
You can submit a bug report to Adobe about the "Exclude Paths" issue, and include the URL for this discussion within your report:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
In the meantime, I'm going to send an e-mail to the developer about these issues. I know that he's working on a fix for another problem with this panel and planning on releasing a fix at some point, so hopefully these issues can get fixed as well.
Again, thanks for being so persistent. It is challenging to understand your writing at times; however, the animated GIF was very helpful—and very well done. Have you tried composing your posts in your native language and then using something like Google Translate to convert it to English? I don't know if the results would be better; it's just an idea.

  • How to get the name and the path of the font used in photoshop (not textItem.font)

I'm trying to get the real name of the font and the path, is there a "easy" way to do it ?
i need to get the font file (*.ttf or *.otf) and copy to the same directory as the psd file, that's why textItem.font doen't work for me.
    thanks in advance

You could try this as it looks as if you are using Windows.
Run the VBS script to create a fontlist file on the desktop.
Then run the javaScript on the PSD document.
It should copy the fonts to the same folder as the document, it will also create a text file with a list of fonts.
It didn't find all the fonts in my test psd maybe because it wasn't in the windows/font folder?
    VBS.

  • Reader X Search doesn't differentiate cached search paths for reselection

I use the Search quite a bit (or did).
Specifically the "All PDF Documents in" option, where  the paths of locations that have previously been browsed to are presented for  reuse.
Previous Reader versions shortened long paths so as  to display the last part of the pathname, which is normally sufficient to  identify the path required.
X does not, so, with no Tooltip either, it is  now impossible to differentiate paths with common starting paths longer than  that displayed. Update  FAIL.
Widening the whole search panel does not widen the  field. Update FAIL.
AND when you start the search you STILL don't get to  actually see what path is being search due to truncation. Again widening the  panel does not widen the fields. Update  FAIL.
And why can't we have the normal search term field in  the toolbar for seraching the curent document? Although as it took me too long  (I think) to even work out how to get any search button on the toolbar, maybe I  mssed that. Update FAIL (x2).
And all my old search paths from the previous version  have been binned. Update FAIL again.
So much for ease of use, do developers actually test  sw "in use" rather than some neatly defined functionallity test scrpit - make  the developers use the product is always a good way to fix this I  find.
Honestly, if there wasn't enough resource available  in Adobe to sort out this kind of trivial ease-of-use functionallity (that I found in just 5 mins use) then how  can anyone have faith that the serious stuff has been properly  tersted?
Not a good start for 5 mins use. And I see the  downgrading doesn't work. Stuffed again.

Any ideas on how I get Quicktime to work that does not include disks?
Pacifist does not require an optical drive for use. Simply "drag 'n drop" the downloaded "QuickTime769_Leopard.pkg" installer file as downloaded from Apple or the OldApps.com site to the Pacifist Window, select the "QuickTime Player App under the "Applications" entry, and tell Pacifist to extract the app. Then it is simply a matter of dragging the app to your root "Applications" folder.

  • Eclipse can't find the path to JVM

I tried running Eclipse and got an error that said that it looked for Java in /usr/share/eclipse/jre/bin/java and couldn't find it, so it can't run.
I'm pretty sure both the JVM and JDK are installed, although running 'java' and 'javac' result in "bash: java/javac: command not found".
    Thanks.

Do you have the files /etc/profile.d/{jre,jdk}.sh?  Do they get sourced when you log in?  They should.  They are the ones that set up the various paths required to run java.  I'd also have a look at /etc/profile.  It should contain this part, that sources all files in /etc/profile.d:
    # Load profiles from /etc/profile.d
    if test -d /etc/profile.d/; then
    for profile in /etc/profile.d/*.sh; do
    test -x $profile && . $profile
    done
    unset profile

  • Network UNC paths and SWF files not running.

Flash Player wont run SWF files from a network unc path. A map drive works. How can I resolve this?
Our user profiles in window 7 are roaming and the my documents redirects using a unc path to the my documents area.  When the swf file is run, you just get a white background in the player.  The standalone player is version 8 .  We also deploy the latest flash player plugin for ie9 browser (currently 11.3).
I have tried adding the unc path \\servername\pathname to a .cfg file in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\FlashPlayerTrust  as described in the flash player administrator guide.  This did not work.
I have also tried to update the global security settings panel with the unc paths required and copying the settings.sol file to users profiles but this has not made any difference.
    Can anyone help?
    Many Thanks
    Mark

    Thanks for replying Jeromie.
After a bit of digging, I discovered that the problem was with the profile path for users. I am not sure why, but when the profile path contains the fully qualified domain name in it , flash player fails i.e \\server.domain.co.uk\sharename\flash.swf.  when the path was changed to \\servername\sharename\file.swf , it worked.
I changed all the users profile paths and removed their appdata to and now all users can play flash files with the new profile path.

  • How to get .ocp file when converting sql database to oracle database?

    Hi all,
    Hope doing well,
sir i am using sql developer tool for migration from sql server to oracle
i am using this offline but i don't know how to create .ocp file
    please help me.
    it's urgent
    waiting for reply.
    thanks in advance.

The OCP files are created during OFFLINE Migration. In SQl Developer click on Tools -> Migration -> Create Database Capture Scripts. Choose an output directory, make sure to select the correct platform (Windows) and select MS SQl Server from the drop down list.
You'll get in the directory specified earlier the batch and OCP files required to create the source model using the offline method.
Have a look at this web site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/migration/sqlserver-095136.html
It contains more info including a link to a video demonstrating the offline capture method.

  • Oracle 11g OCP

    Hi,
I'm an OCA Oracle 9i PL/SQL and OCP Oracle 9i DBA. I wish to earn Oracle 11g OCP in PL/SQL now. Can anyone update me on how can I do that directly (bypassing exams for 10g).
On http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155 I found following information which show I needs to pass only Oracle 11g Advanced PL/SQL 1Z0-146 to become OCP 11g PL/SQL as I'm already an OCA PL/SQL.
    Am I correct?

Edited by: anandk on May 25, 2011 4:22 PMThe OCP certification requires you take the training course, the exam itself does not.
There is actually nothing to stop you enrolling and sitting (intl english appearing) for the exam. However if you pass you wont be certified until you take the requisite training and have it verified.
There is no way you will skip training and still be awarded the certification
I would have thought OAS is now superceded by weblogic and is in the twilight of its life. And there are probably diminishing numbers of courses for it ... but you seem to be lucky ....
there also be Oracle University LVC (online) classes that apply ..... (ie one does not have to get ones favourite train (eg Darjeeling express or ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_named_passenger_trains_of_India ) to get there:
From my inspections of http://education.oracle.com there appear to be relevant LVC online classes for asia (Please check carefully to ensure the classes are suitable .. ie not later version weblogic ones).
