I want to prepare my second OCP Database 10G exam;
I have 2 questions :
1- I have seen this book in Amazon ;
Oracle Database 10g Database Administrator OCP Certification Exam Preparation Course in a Book for Passing the Oracle Database 10g Database Administrator ... on Your First Try Certification Study Guide BY William Manning (Author)
And I would like to know if soemone has read it and if it was useful ?
2- Also, I plan to buy the Oracle Practice Exam for 1Z0-043 DBCert: Database 10g: Administration II from Transcender
someone bougth it? what is your opinion?

Not many have been reviewed, and in general IMHO the reviews tend to be poor on amazon.co.uk. At one point I given one reviews comments I even wondered if half the material was plagurised or evn brain dump .... i tend to think its probably more exam cram style ... but I am only basing this on a quick reading of a couple of reviews and page count of the book.
As far as I can tell the publishers "Emereo Pty Limited" have some bestselling stuff with regard to ITIL V3 by different authors.
In general IMHO it's probably best to stick to the Oracle Press / Sybex Offerings which, despite their faults, have known pedigree. (Do remember though these have not been updated for 10gR2 or the latest topics and they can contain study areas).

My personal suggestion is to use practice exams in the Oracle Press / Sybex books first and then buy Transcender if you need more. Be sure you buy from Transcender (Kaplan) and not a fake site.

I seem to remember the're now both owned by the same Company Kaplan but operated independently.
From comments I've seen I think Self Test is slightly cheaper and some regard Transcender as slighty hgher quality.
I've never used tests from these providers myself but there are occasions I would consider it. Of the two I'd probably aim to plump for Transcender but I'd be well tempted by Self Test if cheaper.
End of subjective comment:
One important thing is that there are the authorised Oracle Test Providers which is a good thing: The bad news is there are other test providers who are not authorised and they are known to set up spoof look-alike sites mimicing these companies.
So its best to vist their sites by going to:

(and be very very careful of spoof sites)

OCP 11g Exam material

I am wondering that oracle has published any book for OCP 11g Exam?

I agree with orafad, there are couple of things which needs to happen before you expect the "material" to be out for 11g....first off the product should be out (no estimated date yet!), then the Beta test would announced (which usually takes about 6 months from the time the new product is released), and in the meantime, authors would write books and SelfTestSoftware will come up with the sample questions and so on.... Apart from all these, we have to spend at least some amount of time in gaining familiarity with the new product and understand its features as so on so forth. My 2 cents.

12c ocp upgrade exam 1z0-060

Hi all,
currently 12c ocp upgrade exam (1z0-060) is validated against Oracle Database 12.1.0.1.0.
any idea when its going to validate against 12.1.0.2 or with some new topics as going to sit in this exam .
So to avoid any surprise near to exam date ,i would like to know is this exam stay some more time with this release or going to change soon with some more topics.

I understand changes on production exams cannot be developed so easy, but regarding to this new release it could be good to analyze if could be interesting update the exam.
"Interesting' or not, making topic changes to production exams is a huge amount of work... and not just for Oracle University. When topic changes are made, such as happened with the 1Z0-047 exam on September 15th or last year, it immediately obsoletes all of the test preparation material in existence for that exam, whether it be books, study guides, or practice exams. People making use of these legacy materials are likely to be caught off guard when taking the exam and they determine that they are not prepared for the newly-added topics. It just doesn't make sense unless the changes that were made are extremely significant. With a 'New Features' exam, it is difficult to imagine any new feature being added in a patch release that is so significant that it warrants such handling.
Any time a new release or patch comes out, OU does go through the exam to verify the existing questions still make sense. I don't know to what level they make changes at this point. However, I am fairly certain that if, for example, in version 12.1.0.1 there was a given restriction and in 12.1.0.2 that restriction was removed... any questions on the exam that referred to the changed restriction would either be removed or altered such that the correct answer was not version-dependent.

as a follow-up question -
is it possible to reference "Sets" as an object in a "Map"
the exam question requires a "Map" to be created referencing a String "studentName" and the collection of books that the "student" has read (see previous coding question - http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5196761)
current code is as follows (the Map studentRecords has previously been referenced as a private instance variable):-

The Set is the "value" of the map, which is stored under a "key", which is the student name. You can use the get(key) method of the map to retrieve the value associated with that key, or you can get a collection of all the values with the values() method.

Microsoft Exam Questions On Functionality That Doesn't Work!

What does a student do if they are tested, in a Microsoft exam, on functionality that's known not to work?!
It seems absurd that Microsoft is doing this.

Assume it does work when you take the exam.
How can functionality that doesn't work outside of the exam suddenly and mysteriously work in the exam? that doesn't make sense!
Turn a blind eye toward "real world" experiences in these types of cases.
Turning a blind eye to functionality that doesn't work isn't the correct solution: fixing the software or removing the question
from the exam is.
Be sure to mark the exam questions that you disagree with.
- and what happens if the student concerned did not think to do this at this time but only after she had time
to think about it afterwards?

I was wondering however what is the value of a BW 3.0 certification.
BW 3.0 is an outdated version, and i am skeptical about its value in the labour market.
I would opt for either a BW 3 .5 or a NW2004S (if you have experience on this version) certification.

Puzzled by exam question

Below is an exam question I am puzzling over at the moment.... I know the output of this code snippet produces 0 : 0 : 3, but what I dont understand is why!
My best guess so far is that the JButton and the JToggleButton are not initialised fully and are therefore not picked up as such. But that they all are Objects as soon as they are created and so are counted as such.
Could anyone offer me a solution?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Why is myMap declared as a Map and not a HashMap?

It's called programming against the interface.
The code using myMap doesn't need to know that it's a HashMap, but only needs to know that it's a Map (Map is an interface that HashMap implements, so every HashMap is-a Map).
Since that knowledge is not required it's better not to give it away.
If at some point we decide that HashMap is not the best choice here we can easily change it to any other Map implementation (such as TreeMap for example) and only need to change that one line.
