OCR deskew creates black edges

I am using OCR in Acrobat Pro. When OCR deskews scanned pages a black background appears at the edges of the aligned pages. Is it possible to set this background color to white? I am using Acrobat 7. Has this feature been changed in newer versions?

I found out what was going on finally, but only after wasting my day lol.
It just needed an update that I completely forgot about:

Funny how that never came up once while searching.

  • I want to put an image in my movie so that it will fill in the black edges on the sides. How do I do this?

    I have a standard definition video I put into iMovie and set it to "Fit" so that it did not cutoff the top and bottom. Now I have black bars on each side. I am going to create an image, or two if need be, to cover those black edges. I cannot figure out how to insert those image and have it not picture in picture, greenscreen, or cutaway.

    I tried with 3 different HDMI cables, 2 different FULL HD TV and one LCD screen, but everywhere were black edges. Black edges appears when you start computer (at first Toshiba screen and BIOS too).
    With same cables and monitors but other laptop is picture without edges.
    When I was tryed with HDMI cable (stl.U500) which have got on the other side DVI output (LCD FULL HD screen) was picture without black edges. With normal VGA - VGA cable is FULL HD picture also without edges.
    Where could be a problem?
    System is Windows 7 64bit with latest ATI display driver and latest BIOS (2.20).
    Greetings

    Hi Mathew,
    Im not a Satellite U500 owner but I assume there must be something wrong with the settings. I never had any problem with the HDMI connection to my external monitor or TV. Its always working fine.
    Anyway, what screen resolution you are using on external monitor? You should use the native screen resolution on external monitor. Then you should be able to use fullscreen mode there.

  • HP Laserjet P1505n black edges - ugh

    My p1505n is putting nasty black edges on otherwise nicely printed pages. I've followed the support and cleaning routines. The black edges are "smudgeable" and not fixed.

  • Why does my exported video have black edges?

    Hi Everyone,
    Somehow my video must be changing frame sizes or something to that extent. I have thin black edges on my exported video. I have checked carefully and my output and source settings match to my visual knowledge. Please help.

    Mark,
    I can show you the player in Premier but I wouldn't know how to export the encoded clip back into Premiere LOL. I'm a total newbie at CS6. And I don't know how to upload a clip, I don't even know how to screen shot it through my notebook. I tried print screen and I get nothing so I am going through my mobile device to upload everything. Thank you guys for your patience and help.

  • EOS 600D - Won't Focus, Black Edges

    Hello there, I have a Canon EOS 600D and I've been having issues with normal focus. It is completely out of focus, even if I try to adjust it manually and at normal zoom, on the frame are black edges around the corners. I don't understand what's causing this, I've tried thoroughly cleaning it and everything but nothing seems to fix it. However, if I use a wideangle lens on top of the standard lens, the focus is greatly improved to how I supposed it normally should be but again at normal zoom, the black edges are ruining the image.  It would be greatly appreciated if I could get any help! Thank you!

    I did do as you suggested, even emailed them just incase the reponse might be different but they instructed me to either send my lens to one of their repair centres or go there myself but the closest one to me is hours away so I won't be able to go all the way there.

  • Photos on Apple TV.  Portrait with black edges not removable with mirroring or Edit.  Any suggestions?

    I use Apple TV to show photos to friends.  However, if the photo is in Portrait format there are large black sections at each side on the the TV screen.  Mirroring or Edit do not remove these black edges even though on the iPad I can  change the set up.  Any suggestions please?

    Mirroring mirrors the 4:3 shape of the new iPad screen - the best output you'll get will be 4:3 filled with black at the sides.
    Try standard Airplay instead of mirroring (which is not available on the iPad 1).

  • Creating black and white charts with patterns in Pages?

    Hi.  Does anyone know how to create black and white patterned charts in Pages (or other iWork application)?  When making Charts in Pages (i have the most recent version), you can make all sorts of colored charts (bar charts, histograms, pie charts, etc.), but in preparing doumnets for publication i need all my charts in black & white.  I can make histograms and bar charts using different shades of grey no problem, but i'd like to create histograms using black and white "patterns" like dots, horizontal lines, stripes, etc.  Does anyone have any idea how to do this, or know where existing patterns can be downloaded for import into Pages?
    Many thanks.

    Don't export it as a .jpeg which is unsuitable for B&W images, blurring them as rgb files (not B&W).
    Better is .tiff (compressed B&W tiff are tiny) or 1 bit .gif.
    It is also possible that .pdf vector files might work but I haven't experimented with those.

  • Creating black mattes for letterbox

    I am trying to create black mattes to "letterbox" 4X3 framing. The original footage was framed for 16X9, but the film was transferred to tape "full aperture". I know I can do this in iMovieHD (ver.6.0.3) but was wondering if it possible in i Movie '08 (ver.7.1.4). Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi thomasa,
    I do not see an option for conversion to B/W in Acrobat.
    I looked under Edit > Preferences, Convert to PDF.
    In the "Converting to PDF" list, I selected "Autodesk AutoCAD" and then clicked the "Edit Settings" button.
    My recommendation is to convert to PDF and then use Adobe Acrobat XI Professional's Preflight tool to do the color conversion to B/W.
    For instance, there is a built-in profile  under "Digital printing and online publishing" that might work:
    Digital printing (B/W).
    I think there may be some trial and error involved.
    You may want to post this question in the Acrobat "Printing & Prepress" forum.
    Hope this helps,
    Charlene

  • What is the easiest way to create different edges for ellipses (tire edges)

    Hi everyone,
    I thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)
    If you can think of a better way to do this (which I am SURE you can!) please let me know:)
    I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below.
    So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below....and created a pattern brush with this shape.
    I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline. It worked GREAT!!
    BUT...here is where the problem begins. All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.
    Is there an easier or more recommended way to go about doing this?
    Thank you so much in advance for your help:)

    Oh my goodness Jacob...you are my HERO!! I had COMPLETELY forgotten about Live Paint!! This did EXACTLY what I needed:)) Thank you SO much! If I could give you a virtual hug I would. This was driving me absolutely crazy.
    Have a wonderful afternoon! Now I can rest in peace:)

  • Rotating an image gives black edges, How can I make the edges white?

    Hi I used the following code to rotate an image:
    // The "ShiftImageByDegrees" class.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.awt.image.renderable.*;
    import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
    import javax.media.jai.*;
    import hsa.Console;
    public class ShiftImageByDegrees
        static Console c;           // The output console
        public static RenderedOp rotate (RenderedImage image, double ang)
            ParameterBlock pb = new ParameterBlock ();
            pb.addSource (image);
            pb.add ((float) (image.getWidth ()) / 2);
            pb.add ((float) (image.getHeight ()) / 2);
            pb.add ((float) ang);
            return JAI.create ("rotate", pb);
        public static void main (String[] args)
            c = new Console ();
            // Doing for every single image:
            File folder = new File ("Images/");
            File[] listOfFiles = folder.listFiles ();
            for (int i = 0 ; i < listOfFiles.length ; i++)
                if (listOfFiles .isFile ())
    c.println ("Image: " + listOfFiles [i].getName ());
    try
    // Load Image:
    String imageName = "";
    RenderedImage image = ImageIO.read (new File ("Images/" + listOfFiles [i].getName ()));
    RenderedImage outputImage = rotate (image, 0.03490658503988659);
    ImageIO.write (outputImage, "bmp", new File ("hello.bmp"));
    catch (IOException e)
    // Place your program here. 'c' is the output console
    } // main method
    } // ShiftImageByDegrees class
    The above code goes to a directory named Images and finds any images and rotates it by 2 degrees (i.e. 0.03490658503988659 radians) and writes them as hello. The rotate method gives the image correctly rotated but the problem is that the edges are black. I would like to make the edges white. The edges are defaulted as black I assume but is there a way I can change that to white?

    Never mind. Solved it by negating the source image first.

  • Creating black backgrounds

    Hi.....Could anybody please tell me the best way of creating a black background to a portrait whilst still being able to keep fine strands of hair visible in the portrait so as to keep the portrait looking natural. I know how to use the polygonal tool and the paintbrush to do this where the subject matter has clearly defined edges but in the case of free flowing hair in the subject I find it to be nigh on impossible.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • How to create black and white pdfs from autocad drawing

    I am trying to create a pdf from autocad drawing with searchable text.  Using the default acad pdf driver, it will create searchable text for only TT fonts with width set to 1.0.  We use the monochrome plot settings so pdfs are all black, even if drawing was in color.
    Using 'create pdf' from Acrobat Pro, Acrobat pro will create a pdf from the autocad drawing easily with all text searchable, shape fonts, TT fonts, no matter what the width.  Fantastic.  However, there is no option that I can see to create the pdf in just black and white.  It creates the pdf in drawings original colors.  How do I create a black and white pdf using acrobat pro?  Thanks.

    @gordon15
    The only way to change the color of the printouts from your iPhone is through HP's free mobile app "HP ePrint Home&Biz". This is available in the App Store.
    Simply download and install the app, choose a file to print from within the app, then press the icon at the bottom right of the screen that is a wrench and printer. This should then give you the option to choose the color output. Make your selection, press "Done", then press "Print."
    If you are not seeing this option, you may need to setup ePrint for the printer and then register the app. This registration will also give you more functionality with the app.
    If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
