OCR makes Document Shrink!

Hi,
I am having a wierd error with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. When I try to OCR something it shrinks the actual viewable document an inch in size. I have tried looking online for a solution but I haven't found a thing relating to why this would be happening...
Thanks!

It also depends on the type of attachment.  If it's an image file, look in the bottom right of the email compose window and select "actual size".

Captfred

Why it doesn't work for the other days? When i tried to change the days other than wednesday. it return nothing.
Reason why Justin's code does not work for other days is date format mask DAY returns day blank padded to 9 characters which is the longest day name which, yes you guessed right, is WEDNESDAY. You either need to blank pad or use format modifier FM:

  • How do I make documents, xlsx, pdf, or docx available for upload to websites

how do I make documents, xlsx, pdf, or docx available for upload to websites?  I only get to choose from pictures when using ipad to access web.  Is there an app?  I have icloud and skydrive and some apps to edit documents.

Safari does not handle documeny uploads, with the exception of images. You will need an alternate browser - I recommend iCab Mobile - with the following characteristics:
    Document storage
Ability to change the browser ID (some site servers restrict upload functions when accessed by a mobile browser; iCab allows you to set the browser ID to a non mobile browser).
I've had pretty consistant success with icab under thee conditions. Its is likley not the only one available that can handle this, however.

How do I make document folders in adobe reader app on iPad? Thanks

First show the Documents list, and in the upper left tap the Edit button. A toolbar in the upper left you'll see a folder icon with a + superimposed. Tap that and you'll be prompted to Create a Folder. Enter the folder name and tap the Save button and your new folder will appear in the Documents list.

Special > Hypertext > Command "open document" will do its best to open the target document inside FrameMaker, which may not be much help; Special > Hypertext > Command "message …" will use the application you specify. The user guide for 7.0 says this about absolute links, and I don't think anything has changed since:
For example, to start PaintBrush and open the Ship.pcx file on drive C you would use the command message system pbrush.exe C:/Ship.pcx
I've not often used a relative link, and not recently: the same source says
folder levels are separated by a slash / even in Windows and Mac
[relative links] FrameMaker searches for a relative pathname beginning in the folder that contains the current document
[absolute links] FrameMaker searches for an absolute pathname beginning at the top of the file system. In Windows, the absolute pathname begins with the drive specifier, a colon and a slash.

  • Make documents compatible between MS Word 2002 and 2010

    Hi there,
I need a fix to make documents sent between Word 2002 and Word 2010 on different machines.  I'd like to keep all formatting the same, i.e. preserve fonts and bullet list styles, etc.  I can't seem to find anything specific that I need on a search.
Would really be a big help to find this out.
    Thanks - FP

Due to differences in printer drivers (which Word uses to define the page layout) and font versions, particularly, when moving between systems, it is impossible to ensure absolute consistency in the presentation of a document on different systems.
That said, you can attain a high level of consistency if both systems use and have access to the same document template (i.e. .dot file, give that you're using Word 2002).

  • OCR'ed Document preview in Coverflow?

Is it possible to see a preview or thumbnail of an OCR'ed document in Finder's coverflow?

    Hi,
Unless you use Acrobat 8 Pro's Formatted Text & Graphics" or Acrobat 9 Pro's ClearScan you will find that there is no
practicable means of editing the OCR "hidden text" in a PDF.
The TouchUp text tool (Advanced Editing toolbar) is reliant upon the selected text having an available system font to use during touchup. However, both Searchable Image and Searchable Image (Exact)  OCR output is of text rendering mode 3 (invisible text) that is provided from within Acrobat and not any installed system or other application installed font.
With Searchable Image (Exact) you have the untouched image augmented by the invisible text which is provided as a user aid for search or find with Adobe Reader or Acrobat. The invisible text is not intended to support word processor like editing.
    To your questions:
#1. There is no practicable way to edit invisible text (text rendering mode 3) with Acrobat (any past or current release).
    #2. None.
#3. A good question. Perhaps a specialty program. Keep in mind, many products provide a promise but those those that actually deliver tend to be expensive.
Something to play with. Using Acrobat 9 Pro or Pro Extended, try the Preflight Fixup to embed hidden text.
Then try using the TouchUp Text tool. You may also want to see if you can change the font type of this newly embedded font.
(use copies of the "real" files - just in case <g>).
    Be well...

  • Make document preview icons bigger

how can I make document preview icons bigger? They were MUCH bigger in Leopard. Can hardly get an idea of them now

Are you referring to the icons shown in folders?
If so, their size is adjustable. To do that, with a folder open and active and set to Icon view, open View Options from the View menu. There is a slider in there which you can use to adjust the size of the icons.
Alternatively, go to the View menu and select Show Status Bar. This will add a small area at the bottom of the folder's window which will display some info about hard drive space, and will also contain a slider - this slider will adjust icon sizes.
To adjust icon sizes in folders set to List or Cover Flow views, open View Options for the folder - there is a small choice of sizes, little and big.
There is no adjustment for icon size in Column view.

  • Adobe Acrobat DC - Bad at rendering scanned/OCR'd documents

Today I opened a scanned and OCR'd document (~200 pages) and because of the recent update, this opened in Acrobat DC (2015.007.20033). While using the Find function to go through the document, many pages had large white blocks instead of the content:
I've obfuscated the part that was rendered for privacy purposes, but even through that obfuscation,  please note that the table underneath is meant to be displayed as black, not light grey. In addition (and more importantly), more than half the page is not rendered at all. It is as if Acrobat DC just stopped rendering the page.
Finally, I resorted to opening it up in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10), and then I was able to find/navigate without problems.
Some notes that may be applicable when trying to reproduce:
My document has a fair amount of annotations throughout, though none on this page.
I was viewing in "Fit one full page to window" zoom mode.
I was using the Find tool to search the OCR'd text for keywords (not browsing page by page).
    I'm on Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit
I'm not certain that any or all of those things played a part, but opening the same document in Acrobat with the same zoom setting, and navigating via the Find tool produced no problems.

    Hello im an Sven,
please carefully read my error message. It is not about the appearance of
the image, which is much smaller in the DC as in the XI or Pro 9.
The problem persists. After the scanning process (attached image), the
scanpicuture remains longer than 3 minutes and will not disappear. There is
no transition to the finished PDF. Only on the button cancel, I come to the
finished PDF. And that is a software error on DC.
    I hope you understand.
The problem on Version Acrobat XI Pro newest update is not only von DC.
Thank you for your quick problem solving!
    With best regards from
    Sven Kiss-Lehrmann
