OCR missing on HP 8610

Hi,
Officejet 8610 won't let me scan without OCR software - which I'm not told how to get.  I re-installed the pilot driver, but nothing new. Running Mac OS X 10.9.  Perfectly works on my other computer (Mas OSX 10.8). Please any help?
Thanks in advance
Elodie

  • Document Capture OCR missed interperted Western Latin characters

    Hi,
I'm using the OCR function to read words with Latin characters, but the reading is not being done in the correct way this is the character "à" appears as "6" and the same is happening for other characters.
Is any way to define the character set?
    Edited by: carlos.pereira on Nov 12, 2008 7:01 PM

A new feature was added in the 10.1.3.4.0 release of Oralce Document Caputre to allow for selection of your OCR settings. These settings include the Language to be used for the OCR engine to interpret.
You can get to these settings by going to the System menu and selecting "Settings". If running anything older that 10.1.3.4.0, these settings will not be available.
There is a chance that when you make this setting change that it will still misinterpret the characters in your data. In that case, you may be able to improve your results by adding creating a custom Index macro.

  • HP OfficeJet pro 8610 missing transparency option

I'm trying to print on to transparent paper but am unable to find the correct settings to do so. I looked up guides and tips on how to change the printer settings from normal plain paper to transparent paper but when I go to the settings the option for transparency just isn't there. My understanding is that the 8610 is capable of transparency so I don't see why it would be missing. please help.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 - Error Code: " 0xc19a0013" (missing or failed printhead)

I purchased the printer (HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-one printer) in January, 2015.  The printer functioned properly - copy, fax, and scan, until two days ago.  Now, it does not print at all.  Received an error code: "0xc19a0013" (Missing or Failed Printhead).  An expanded version of the error code reads:  "The Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.  Error Code: 0xc19a0013.   The printer uses a removable printhead, HP Ink Cartridges 950 (black) and  951(cmy).  I have used HP Support Troubleshooting recommendations: all software and firmware for this printer is installed; the HP ink cartridges are not low or empty; removed the ink cartridges from the printhead and reinstalled them.
There are multible steps in the troubleshooting recommendation, but I stopped at removing the printhead.  Because of my technical inexperience, and there were too many ceveats (beware, caution, proper reinstallation, and etc.)  with removing the printhead that could cause greater problems.  So, I stopped at removing and cleaning the printhead.  Also, used the HP Printer Scan Doctor for assistance. The tool for cleaning the printhead doesn't work.   What troubles me most with the 0xc19a0013 error code is its explanation: The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.  I can use all the help I can get to understand what is going on with the error code that I have received, and how to resolve the malfunctioning printer.

  • Missing key in OCR, can't set interfaces with oifcfg

(also posted in Metalink Unix Installation/OS: RDBMS Technical Forum)
I have installed clusterware on a 2 node cluster running RedHat 5.
OCR and voting disks are on raw devices, but everthing else is shared using GFS.
I can start both nodes but I can't seem to add interfaces through oifcfg.
In fact the SYSTEM.css.interfaces key does not exist in my OCR.
I applied fixs in Oracle MetaLink Note #414163.1, but when I try to do oifcfg to set my interfaces
I get a "registry key does not exist" error.
    [root@ora2 bin]# ./oifcfg setif -global eth0/128.159.132.0:public eth2/172.16.5.0:cluster_interconnect
PROC-4: The cluster registry key to be operated on does not exist.
    PRIF-11: cluster registry error
    [root@ora2 bin]# ./oifcfg iflist
    eth2 172.16.5.0
    eth0 128.159.132.0
Checking the oifcfg.log I could see it was trying to update key SYSTEM.css.interfaces
    2008-02-05 17:36:12.504: [ default][2897118400]OCR api procr_open_key failed for key SYSTEM.css.interfaces
I did a dump of my OCR and confirmed that this key does not exist.
I even tried regenerating my OCR with ./clscfg -install. The new one is exactly the same as the old
    just different time stamps.
So now I am stuck. vipca won't run until the interfaces are defined and oifcfg won't them
because the OCR is missing a key. Does anyone know how to create this key in the OCR?
Does it need to be there?
I have thought reinstalling from scratch but I do not think anything will change as the only
thing that creates the OCR is clscfg -install in the rootconfig script.

in the $CRS_HOME/install/rootconfig, some people comment out a section that Fails. Specifically this section.
    if $CH/bin/ocrconfig -upgrade $CRS_ORACLE_OWNER $CRS_DBA_GROUP;
    then
$ECHO "Oracle Cluster Registry configuration upgraded successfully"
    else
$ECHO "Failed to upgrade Oracle Cluster Registry configuration"
    exit 1
    fi
    DO NOT COMMENT IT OUT.
$CH/bin/ocrconfig -upgrade $CRS_ORACLE_OWNER $CRS_DBA_GROUP is what writes these keys. People get the failed error when it fails the root.sh and decide to comment it out. Everything looks like it completes, but thiis key is not there. Instead, get the patch below which replaces the clsfmt.bin on all nodes. Uncomment the code in your rootconfig and that should fix you up. Good Luck!
PATCH 4679769 has the fixed clsfmt.bin
Also, check the permissions on your disks! Sometimes that causes it to fail as well.
Also, if on RHEL5, you will need to do the unset on LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in the vipca and srvctl files under $CRS_HOME/bin (which is fixed in 10.2.0.4 so no uncommenting needed)

  • Missing OCR on hp psc 1315 aio

3rd try. Man I hate it when I type the whole problem out and it disappears. When will I learn to type it out on Word first and copy/paste it to those darn message things.  OK I write it out again... Several months ago I upgraded operating systems from Windows XP to Windows 7. Following that upgrade, my 1315 printer failed to work. It couldn't be troubleshot or reinstalled using the original CD (ver 3.5.1), 2004. After much help and trouble, the printer function finally got working again, but the Director Assistant, I believe that is what it was called, thing was missing and replaced by a large black sheet with some with print and almost illegible dark blue print on black and a bubbly fish on the left side. The printer can now scan, but cannot develop a scan into a workable document. The old printer software had IRIS OCR capability. The new printer does not seem to have that available. IS there any way to get the IRIS software off the old CD? Thanks

Actually, the question was is there anyway to get IRIS back? IRIS was on the CD with the HP printer, so it was very easy to scan somthing using OCR with the end product being ready for edit. With a separate OCR program, I'd have to scan something and the send it through the OCR program. I have a Dell printer and it has as OCR p[rogram, but it is terible. Text boxes all over the place, and it takes hours to remove the boxes and then sometimes the text gets scrambled. It is a worthless OCR program. HP's IRIS worked just fine. I'd like it back. What happened to HP' IRIS?

  • ASM Instance down in Solaris due to missing ocr.loc file

We had to restart our solaris machine due to a hardware failure.
When i tried to start to ASM instance, i got the error.
    SQL> startup mount;
ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Manager
The css daemons were not started. I checked it using
$ ps -ef | grep css
After logging in as ROOT and setting Oracle's bin directory in its path, i tried to run
    #./localconfig . But i didn't succeed.
Then I came to know that you can start css by executing init.cssd script in ($ORACLE_HOME/css/admin)
    /u01/oracle/10g/css/admin
    $ ./init.cssd start
    ./init.cssd: /var/opt/oracle/ocr.loc: cannot open
There is no such file called ocr.loc in this location. I confirmed it by
    So I looked for /var/opt/oracle/ocr.loc
    $ file /var/opt/oracle/ocr.loc
/var/opt/oracle/ocr.loc: cannot open: No such file or directory
    What do i do?

    Boutet,
Before you go ahead and restore the OCR, for that matter even to restore it successfully, you would need to restore/recreate the file /var/opt/oracle/ocr.loc. This file has the location of the OCR file, without this file, you will not be able to restore the OCR.
The contents of the ocr.loc file would be something like this (I am including this information so that you may like to use it to recreate the file, in case you lost the original one).
    cat /etc/oracle/ocr.loc
    ocrconfig_loc=/<path>/cdata/localhost/local.ocr
    local_only=TRUE
    Hope this help.
    Thanks

  • I.R.I.S OCR software missing after OJ 6500 e709n install

    Hi,
I've just installed my OJ 6500 e709n and would like to scan  some text.  The documentation refers to importing scanned text with OCR software.  During the install there was a pop up indicating that I.R.I.S. software was being installed, although a search of the help files doesn't show any references to I.R.I.S.  Google searches indicate that the I.R.I.S. software should be started seperately and used to trigger the scan, but there are no icons on the desktop, in the start center, or in c:/programs.
How do I proceed?  Do I need to delete and reinstall?
    Thanks,

  • 10g Grid (RAC) on Linux with ASM and OCR?

I was trying to install 10g on Linux with ASM. The docs are not terribly clear on this, but I'd like to have the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) on one of my four ASM disks, rather than dedicate space to OCFS. I have 4 18.2 GB drives setup with ASM now. Is there a way to do this?
I guess the other thing I could do is to cut the ASM disks into two partitions. One, say 200MB and the other the rest. I'd put OCFS for OCR on the 200MB partition on one of the disks. The large partition on each of the rest of the disks would be dedicated to ASM.
What am I missing? I feel it must be something obvious. I'd rather have the OCR on the ASM, so that I don't have to deal with it...
    Thanks!
    Jeff

    Hi.
There shouldn't be a problem with this provided you use a 32-bit OS on the 64 bit machine. RAC doesn't care about the chipset, so long as the same OS is used, but I don't thinkit will support one node on 32 bit and one on 64 bit, since they are actually separate distributions.
Of course, I've never tried it so I can't be sure :)
    Cheers

  • Performing OCR text recognition in all pages of a PDF document which has blank pages

The PDF pages in the file are scanned as an image, but there are blank pages also. So, page 1, 2 have images of scanned text, page 3 is blank, pages 4, 5,  have images of scanned text, page 6 is blank and so on.The series of blank pages is 3, 6, 9....
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9 on Windows XP. I choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize text using OCR->All pages. But, the OCR stops after page 2.
Then, I go to page 4 and find that it is still an image(and I cannot copy the text from it). So, then I have to choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize  text using OCR->All pages. But, the OCR stops after page 6.
The document has some 200 pages and I don't want to manually do the choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize  text using OCR->All pages for all pages which have text.
I also tried choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize  text using OCR->Page 1 to page 200, but that too does not work.
I can manually go to each blank page, delete it, then do the OCR but that would be tedious.
    1. Am I missing something in doing the OCR of all pages?
    2. Can I set up a batch process to do the delete of blank page series or can I set up a batch process which does OCR of all pages(and does not stop at a blank page) as it is doing now?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hm, you could convert every pdf-page to a image file (jpeg, etc.):
    -install the package imagemagick
    -use the command convert
    convert -trim -density 150 your.pdf your.jpg
This will generate a jpg-file for every pdf-page; "-trim" removes the white margins, density specifies the resolution of the page (you could also try "-resize" instead of "-density") and 150 specifies amount of  dots per inch.
This does not generate a new pdf-file, but maybe there is a way to convert the images back into a single pdf?

  • OCR no longer working on an HP C5580 printer after installing OSX 10.6.1

I purchased an HP C5580 printer when I installed OSX 10.6. The scanner / OCR did not work. I called HP. The tech had me download the v10.3 driver and walked me thru the OCR set-up. The OCR worked (actually quite well).
When I updated to OSX 10.6.1 the OCR became non-existent. I called HP. The tech indicated that OCR NEVER worked in Snow Leopard and to purchase Readiris for $99. I said it worked just fine in OSX 10.6 – he said I was mistaken.
BTW, the tech indicated that there would be no updated HP software to allow OCR for the C5500 series printers for Snow Leopard.
I followed the post by Richard Cambell4 (9-15-09) to reload the HP v10.3 software and reload Apple’s HP update. I did that. The problem is that Richard’s update included a scan icon for the dock to toggle the scan/OCR – my update from Apple (11-3-09) only has an HP Device icon for the dock that does NOT include a scan/OCR toggle.
I checked for a free Mac OCR on Goggle and found zip – except for a command line program that I prefer not to use.
Am I missing something on the update? Or, does anyone have a fix for this problem (without going back to OSX 10.6.0 or buying the IRIS $99 OCR software)?
    Appreciate any help. Thanks.

    bschmidt86,
There is no need to buy anything. Simply download the full Snow Leopard compatible solution from [HP.com|http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=o j-74785-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=219&product=3575276]. If your device originally came with OCR capabilities, they will be exposed by HP Scan. Simply do a Document scan, and the save box will give you options with multiple OCR options in it (PDF, txt, html, rtf).
Do yourself a favor though, and before you install the software, run the HP Uninstaller (located in /Applications/Hewlett-Packard) and when the Uninstall screen comes up, press and hold Shift-Command-Control-Option while clicking on Uninstall. Say yes to the scary message. Restart the machine for good measure, and then install the solution mentioned above.
    Launch HP Scan, and enjoy!
    Just trying to help.

  • Officejet Pro 8610: Will not Auto Answer

Evening all.  We just purchased two HP Officejet Pro 8610's and have set them up at the office, however, we have noticed that even though we have the Auto Answer feature enabled, neither machine is automatically answering.  Instead they are still requiring a manual "yes, go ahead and answer that" button press which does not work for us as we often do not have people around those machines.
In running a Fax Test Report I got the following print-out...

    Hi RandyT9,
I believe it is related to distintive ring setting. Have you tried to set the Distinctive Ring feature to All Rings and see if the printer can answer it automatically?
If you using distintive ring  service, please refer to User manual on the distinctive ring setting.
If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the Distinctive Ring
feature on the printer is set to All Rings.
    Hope this may helps.

  • HP Officejet pro 8610 scan to computer OSX 10.10

    Dear all,
I've just bought a HP Officejet pro 8610 and it prints like a charm. I can't however scan to my computer. According to the manual I have to activate the scan to computer function in the utility program but I have no such option. Am I missing something? It works fine on my dads windows 8.1 laptop.
    With kind regards,
    Anthony

    Hi charlene025,
    Thank you again for responding!
It sounds like there is a driver conflict on your computer, especially since it is showing an older printer. I am going to recommend the following:
Uninstall the printer software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Reset the printing system. OS X Yosemite: Reset the printing system.
Verify and repair disk permissions.  Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions.
    Reboot the computer.
Reinstall the software from this website. HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Once these steps are completed try and re-enable the scan to computer function again.
    Hope this works!
