OCR of a scanned file in Acrobat XI pro produces a new pdf, which cannot be opened in Acrobat 5.0

I want to make automatik linking and bookmarks in the pdf with the tool Compose, which I only have in Acrobat 5, not in the XI pro
First step of OCR I had to do in XI pro
I could not open the new file With the old versio 5.0. In XI pro it opens without showing any error.

There have been changes to PDF to allow better compression since the days of Acrobat 5, and they are now being used where appropriate.
Perhaps you can use the PDF Optimizer (via Save as...optimized PDF) to change the PDF level back down to what you need. The file could well get much bigger.

Get info then check permissions then add your curent user name (it was probably different on old Mac) and give your username full read/write permissions.

  • Identifying the scan file for the Laserjet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw on a MacBookPro

In order to scan to a file on my Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw, I need to register a file on my MacBookPro that the scan file can be sent.  The Mac is using Mac OS 10.10 which is claimed to be supported by HP.  But, I am unable to provide the registration information so that the scan file can be sent to the Mac.  Can someone help me with this problem?

    Hi @NeilPayze ,
I see that you are having issues setting up the scan file. I would like to help you out today.
If you are trying to setup a scan to a network folder, please follow these steps:
Create a folder on the desktop.
Hold down the control button and click on the folder you just created and select Get Info.
    Check Share folder.
Under Sharing & Permissions select Read & Write.
    Close that window.
Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Sharing.
Check File Sharing, select the folder created, then select Read & Write.
    Click on options.
Check Share files and folders using SMB.
Check Share files and folders using AFP.
    Below check Account name.
    Then click on Done.
On the same windows, with File Sharing highlighted, to the right of that under File Sharing: ON, write down the
    IP address.
    Then close that window.
Open the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
    Click on the Scan tab.
    Click on Network Folder Setup.
    Delete any old entries.
    Then click on New.
Display Name: Type in any display name.
    Network Path: \\computer's IP\folder name
    Example: \\192.168.22.104\scan
    Username:Computers User name.
    Password: Computers Password.
Then click on Save and Test at the bottom right corner.
Please let me know the results.

  • Migratiing files from a MacBook Pro to a new iMac via firewire connection

The firewire connection does not appear to work between my older MacBook Pro running 10.4.11 and my new iMac running 10.5.6. I've been trying to use migration assistant and it never gets passed "waiting for old mac to restart". I 've put the target macbook pro into target disk mode by pressing "t" at startup and then using system preferences, start up disk, start disk in target mode. It appears that the iMac just can't see the older mac. Any suggestions to trouble shoot? Very little info on apple's support documentation. I have over 90 GB of data (music, files, photos). I can do this over a network connection but it will take 30 hours just to copy my itunes library.

I would start by doing the following on the MBP:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next, turn off both computers. Connect via a Firewire cable. Boot the MBP into TDM. Wait for the TDM screen to appear. Now boot the iMac normally. See if the disk drive of the MBP doesn't appear on the iMac's Desktop.

  • Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\accountname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\emailaddress.ost cannot be opened.

I don't have Exchange or anything like that. I did delete the Windows 8 Mail tile, would that have done anything? I've tried deleting the .ost file and opening again, but it's still coming up. My email is also an old fairly irrelevant server (mweb.co.za).
I've looked on the Outlook 2013 pages here but nothing's working. I can't get outlook to open my gmail address either. Do I need to convert the .ost files or something?

    Hi,
First, we can try to open Outlook with /resetnavpane command to check if this problem is caused by corrupted Navigation Pane settings. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook.exe /resetnavpane and press Enter.
If the issue persists, we can try to create a new mail profile in Control Panel and set up your email account in the new profile to check the result. To create a new mail profile, please refer:

  • Acrobat 4.0 possible patch to handle newer .pdf files?

I am currently at a small printing company that uses a Heidelberg Prosetter and interconnected software programs for platemaking in our pre-press department. We currently have an outdated Heidelberg meta dimension system that I was told will only handle Acrobat version 4.0 files. I get errors when a newer .pdf version is sent to me from my customers. So far I have found work arounds such as saving the .pdf file down to a compatible file, but am running out of options, and the newest version 9.0 files are really giving me a headache. Saving the file down doesn't seem to help. Is there a possible patch I can find to allow version 4.0 to handle the newest files? Heidelberg has told me that if we were to upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat we would need to upgrade the rest of our software (PitStop Server, Meta Dimension, SignaStation) since they all work together to burn plates and that would cost us upwards of $25,000. Being a small company we can not afford this and the owners have basically told me to work with what I have. Can anyone help me?

I still keep having some issues with transparent objects and drop shadows with a spot colors. I just spoke to our Heidelberg rep and he mentioned that they even had to update their software to handle the 9.0, and are now recommending that customers upgrade to the newest version of Meta Dimension (which is very costly I might Ad!). I think I am just stuck between a rock and a hard place, and will be there as long as I work here! Not only do I have issues with the transparent objects, I am sometimes getting a flat out will not open error message in EnFocus PittStop which is our pre-flight software. I am going to have to post this on the EnFocus forums and hope that someone might be able to solve that for me. Thanks for the input. I kind of thought that a patch like that was out of the question! There is just no help for poor people like me!

  • Scanned in file as pdf, but won't open in Acrobat

So I scanned in around 20 pages of work, all as pdf files, and they all open fine in Adobe Reader. However I am trying to open them in Acrobat and it says that there has been an error, that the file has been damaged and cannot be retrieved.
I don't exactly want to re-scan everything, but I'm confused as to why it would open fine in Reader, but not Acrobat. Does anyone have any advice for this?
    Thanks!

Sound like you have an old version of Acrobat and new version of Reader. Apparently the scanner put the PDF in a new version and it is failing the read options of your old Acrobat. At least that is my guess. Try scanning a page directly into Acrobat and I bet it still will not work. In that case, you might consider scanning to TIFF and then opening the TIFF files you get in Acrobat (I typically drag and drop to preserve the order -- Acrobat typically reverses the order). If you post again, try to provide the versions of your software and you might look at the beginning of the PDF in an editor (don't save) to check the version number.

  • Acrobat 8 Professional can't find the scanning device when creating the second page of the PDF file

Hey guys, this is my first post here, so please excuse me if there is anything I need to know.
I am a Mac User and I have the whole CS3 suit installed.
Everything works just great except there is this little thing bugs me around.
When I try to use Acrobat Professional 8.0 to create a PDF file through my scanner, (samsung SCX-4725FN, it's scan/print/fax combined) I wouldn't be able to continue to scan to the second page. To be more specific, I have no problem to scan and create the first page of the PDF file, when it asks me if I want to scan and create another page, when I confirmed it, I wouldn't be able to see the scanner in the "Acrobat Scan" window. The "scan" botton stay faded, therefore I can't continue. If I click "cancel" and try to create another PDF file from the scanner, the smae problem will show up again. The only way that I can continue to scan is to quit the program from the menu bar and restart it, then I can start to create the next '1st page only' PDF file from the scanner. I had to do this rapidly to get all the pages scanned first, and then combine them to get my work done. This is a pain in the butt. I have downloaded the most updated scanner driver, and patched Acrobat to version 8.1.2 , but the problem still exist. I have tested the scanner with PS CS3, the scanner works just fine. So I assume there is a glitch here with the software. Can anyone help me please?

I am not very clear at which step you are facing issue. Below is the sequence in order to scan more pages from Acrobat:
    1. Launch Acrobat. Click menu File->Create PDF->From Scanner....
    2. "Acrobat Scan" dialog will appear. Select your scanner installed in Scanner dropdown. Check 'Prompt for scanning more pages' checkbox as you want to scan more than one page. Click Scan button in "Acrobat Scan" dialog.
    3. Now scanner UI will appear. Make setting like color mode/resolution and click Scan button(or may be Accept button) in this dialog. (This is scanner specific ui)
    4. After this scanning will happen and "Acrobat Scan" dialog will appear with "Scan is Complete" and "Scan more pages" option.
    5. Select "Scan more pages" option and click OK in this dialog to scan more pages.
    6. Now again scanner UI will appear as in step 3 above. Make your settings and proceed.
Do you see scanner UI or "Acrobat Scan" dialog in step6? Are you not able to click Scan(or Accept) button in scanner UI?

  • OCR Support for Vietnamese language in Acrobat Pro 9.1

I am using Acrobat Pro 9.1 and am needing to OCR the earlier scanned Vietnamese document.
It seems that the default setup of Acrobat 9.1 doesn't support this. The question is does Acrobat 9.1 support support at all?
I have noticed the font pack (including Vietnamese support) for Acrobat Pro 8.x, but failed to find equivalent support for Pro 9+?
    Appreciate any ideas on this.

Try printing to the Adobe PDF printer, the more fundamental process (PDF Maker is a preprocessor for the printer). If that does not work, then try with print-to-file selected. Open the file in Distiller and see if the PDF is created. If the latter happens, then check for AcroTray running in the background. It is required to automate the process and is needed by PDF Maker.

  • Why is default scan in Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 legal size

I have HP LaserJet with new software. I scan directly from Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 (Windows 7, 64 bit). The only scanner I can find in dropdown is WIA. I do not see the twain driver - even though I can scan with twain driver in the HP scanning application. The problem i am experiencing is that when I scan directly from Acrobat (using the only dropdown available - WIA - ) the scan is "legal size" and not "letter size." The only option for paper size is to select paper size automatically.
I would very much like to be able to scan directly from Acrobat and have letter size documents appear as letter size documents. Please help.

Try this, it worked for me in Acrobat v.8
    Start an Acrobat scan.
In "Acrobat Scan" window select "Scanner Options"
In "Scanner Options" window select "User interface: Show Scanner's Native Interface"
Click OK on "Scanner Options" window
Click Scan on "Acrobat Scan" window
Next you will be asked to save the PDF file. After this a window should open that gives you an option to select paper size and document type.
I found locations in my HP Printer/Scanner to set paper size but I don't think the information is passed from the printer to Acrobat. I suspect it is an HP problem but they are total dolts about doing anything but pointing the fingure at Adobe.
Hope this works for you. It is very cumbersome but it yields the right results.

  • How do I save a file in Acrobat Pro 8 so as to edit in Photoshop 7?

I have several owner manual downloads that were poorly scanned and I have extracted the pages as individual files.  I am pretty sure that I have been able to open them in Photoshop, or change their format in Acrobat so I can open them in Photoshop. I want to adjust the contrast.   I get a message that says unable to open, wrong type of file.  Any help appreciated. Thanks,  Highiron

I successfully opened one of the files using my wife's CS4.  Thank you for your solution. I have used photoshop 7 for the high school yearbook for many years and it did all i asked of it. Now that I am retired, I will need to rethink what I need for me.  Thanks again.  highiron
