OCS Critical Patch Update July

We're having a heck of a time figuring out which patches are needed for our recent installation of OCS version 10.1.2.0.0. We've not patched since install, and are required to apply the July Critical Patch Update (CPU). Anyone out there has done this latest patch? If so, could you share what patches were used for a 2 server (infra/mid) install. Thank you.

This is what I've found so far about the patch situation
We are running OCS 10.1.2.0.0 which comes with Database version 10.1.0.4.2 and Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
To fully apply the July OCS CPU, it's requiered to upgrade OCS to 10.1.2.3 (this is a list of about 13 individual patches). Then resume patching for July CPU 93 - 5 patches). A total of about 18 - 20 patches. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?

  • Oracle Critical Patch Update  - July 2008

    Hi All,
How I can get the information about bug fixed in Oracle Critical Patch Update - July 2008?
    or send me any link...
    Thanks..

Well, it all depends on which specific release you are talking about. CPU's are provided for Oracle 9iR2 (9.2.0.8.0) up to the latest available oracle version. They are also available for other non RDBMS oracle products.
If you want to get information about CPU's you may take a look at this reference: --> Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2008, from this point on you can drill down to find out information about your specific oracle version.
This information is publicly available and up to this point you don't need a support contract to review this information. Support contracts are required when you plan to download the specific patch pointed by the CPU document, and it depends not only on the Oracle release, but also on the particular OS platform.

  • Critical Patch Update July 2009 applicable to 10.2.0.1.0?

CPU July 2009 applies to 10.2.0.4 and 5. My database is 10.2.0.1 on Solaris Sparc 64 bit. Does this mean the CPU doesn't apply to my db or my db needs to be upgraded to 10.2.0.4 or 5 first and then have the CPU applied? If upgrade is needed first, where can I find the 10.2.0.4 upgrade patch from 10.2.0.1? I don't seem to find it for Solaris Sparc 64bit. Thanks.

    Hi,
first of all - before taking care of CPUs you should take more attention to your database by applying patch set 10.2.0.4 - this by the way will include also some CPUs (check the readme).
If you have applied successfully 10.2.0.4, upgraded your database to 10.2.0.4 as well - then you might think of applying the July09 CPU on top.
And btw, you could have spotted this information already by checking the CPU patch advisory:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/critical-patch-updates/cpujul2009.html
Do a further check for your platform with Note:835649.1 - check section 5.7 in this note for the relevant patch number for Solaris64SPARC.
And it would be: Patch 8534387
    Kind regards

  • Oracle Critical Patch Update July 2009 for Oracle BEA Releases

    Hi All,
Researching in metalink about CPU's for WLS 9.1 I found Oracle Support Note #835668.1. Table 9 of this document
lists minimum product requirements for WebLogic server.
According to this table WLS 9.1 should have a minimum version of 9.2MP3.
I am confident that WLS 9.1 and WLS 9.2 are completely different WLS versions and there is no upgrade path from WLS 9.1 to WLS 9.2.
Is this table misprinted or is it required to replace all WLS 9.1 installations with WLS 9.2 installations?
What is this table trying to indicate?
    Please assist.
    It would be very helpful.

  • Critical Patch Update July 2006 - Patch 5300615

    Hi,
I tried to patch my oms oracle home, but I get a message that some classes in the sysman/jlibemCORE.jar could not be updated because the file doesn't exist. In fact that file doesn't exist, but the file sysman/jlib/emCORE.jar does. I checked out, and the classes that were supposed to be in the jlibemCORE.jar file exists in the emCORE.jar file.
Is this a bug patch or did I do anything wrong? anyone has this problem?
    tks.

    tks for yours answers,
The patch was advised by OEM itself, but I did check all the pre-requisits, and everything seems OK.
I don't have a Production environment, because I start testing OEM a few weeks ago. Until tests are over, we still using our old monitoring tools.

  • Oracle database 9.2.0.4 Critical Patch Update

    Hi,
is oracle database 9.2.0.4 running on Windows still supported for critical patch updates? I went through the supported list in Critical Patch Update October 2006 but there was no reference to Oracle database 9.2.0.4. Oracle Premier Support for Oracle Database 9.2 expires in July 2007 - shouldn't this be included?
    Thanks

So why aren't versions 9.2.0.1/2/3/4 included in the
Critical Patch Update?9.2.0.5 is not listed either, neither were they listed in the July 2006 CPU.
My guess is that the versions no longer fall under one of the items I listed earlier. You can file an SR with Oracle to get the exact reason.

  • Critical Patch update vs Patch Bundle

Our servers runs on sun solaris sparc 64 bit and oracle 11.1.0.7 with CPUAPR2009 patches. We found the latest patch bundle 8658581.8 would resolve many of our issues.
I need to know whether the patch bundle would be bundled with the CPU patches since the patch bundle was released after the CPU patches and I have also read a document which says
    Are Recommended Patches Cumulative ?
Yes, Recommended Patches are cumulative for a given target configuration. The latest Recommended Patches for a given target configuration will contain all fixes included in the previous ones.
This patch bundle is a recommended patches.
Please help me in resolving the patches to apply. And please provide me more clarity on Thanks
    Regards,
    Ilan

    Hi Ilan,
I'm not sure if you received the answer you were seeking elsewhere.
As you may know, the n-Apply Critical Patch Updates (CPU's) are released on a quarterly basis and are cumulative in nature. The CPUs are released to address security vulnerabilities, primarily. At the time of their release, they each contain groupings of security fixes (called molecules). Each of these molecules contain multiple related patches and the molecules can be applied independently of one another.
Now, that being said - there is a chance that Oracle could release interim (i.e. one-off) patches, merge patches, and patch bundles in between CPU releases and in between patchset releases. The fixes provided in these interim patches, merge patches, and patch bundles should also be included in subsequent CPU releases (if they address security vulnerabilities) and in subsequent patchset releases (if you're not already on the terminal patchset release for your version).
As for the CPU releases: prior to the patch installation, the following checks are performed for each molecule patch being installed:
    - Conflicts (patch to be installed contains modules which conflict with existing patch in the Oracle Home)
    - Subsets (patch to be installed is a subset of an existing patch in the Oracle Home)
    - Duplicates (patch to be installed is the same as an existing patch in the Oracle Home)
If you encounter a situation where the particular patch to be installed is in conflict with one or more other patches which have previously been applied to the same Oracle Home, then you will need to file a Service Request with Oracle Global Customer Support to request a merge patch to merge the conflicting patches together into one individual patch.
If the particular patch to be installed is a subset or duplicate of an existing patch in the Oracle Home, then there is no need for the patch to be applied to the Oracle Home as the fix it contains already exists there. For this reason, the CPU installation instructions from the README.html direct you to run OPatch with the -skip_subset and -skip_duplicate options to skip attempting to apply any patches that are subset or duplicate of existing patches in the Oracle Home. See the README.html file from the most recent CPU (July - 8534387) for complete details about the CPU, including what molecules of fixes it contains.
I hope this information helps clarify things for you rather than confuse you further. Keep in mind I am responding with a general answer which should address your question. I have not reviewed 8658581 specifically to see what this patch addresses.
