OCS hardware/Network Infrastructure Requirements

Hi,
I was wondering whether anyone was willing to share their current network infrastructure for their OCS deployments.
In terms of type and specs of network cards used by the OCS servers that host the applications?
In addition to this I was wondering whether anyone has used the same windows server to host the web conferencing and voice/fax options or perhaps if this is possible.

  • Oracle 10g Installtion error Network Configuration requirements ... failed

    Checking Network Configuration requirements ...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.

Are you installing Oracle 10G R2? If this is the case then for DHCP network environments, you need to create a Microsoft loop back adapter.
    Microsoft Loopback Adapter creation:
    ===========================
Step 1: Programs -> control panel -> Add Hardware.
Step 2: In the Add Hardware wizard. Click 'Next' and select 'Yes, I have already connected the hardware'. option and click on 'Next'.
Step 3: Select the last option 'Add a new hardware device' from the 'Installed hardware' window and click on 'Next'.
Step 4: Select the last option 'Install hardware that I manually select from the list (Advanced) and click on 'Next'.
Step 5: Select 'Network adapters' in 'Common hardware types' list and click on 'Next'.
Step 6: Where you can see 'Microsoft loopback adapter' on the right hand side of the frame.
Step 7: proceed with all default installation and then try installing Oracle.
    I hope this will suffice.
    Thanks

  • Lync network RTT requirements?

We currently have Lync Enterprise set up in one data center that does not have direct Internet connectivity.  We are planning on setting up an Edge and Director server, where the Edge server is in our DMZ in another data center.  The RTT between
these two networks is about 80ms.  Is there any documentation regarding RTT requirements (e.g. for SharePoint, RTT must be <1ms between each server in the farm)?  Is there any documentation about the placement of the Director?
    http://sharepoint.nauplius.net

The Lync server planning guide gives the following advice "Provision your network to ensure a maximum end-to-end delay (latency) of 150 milliseconds (ms) under peak load. Latency
is the one network impairment that Lync Server media components cannot reduce, and it is important to find and eliminate the weak points." The guide is available for download
here and the quote comes from Chapter 2, which deals with infrastructure requirements.
You should allow for the latency introduced by the firewall.
The Director should be on the internal network. Since the Director is used to authenticate user, it would be best to locate it wherever most of the users are located. The Director
drops out of the path once it forwards internal users to their home pool. For external users, the Director stays in the communications path, so keep this in mind when deciding on location.
Finally, you might not be aware that the Director is an optional role.
    Hope that helps.

  • Howto test new or modified network infrastructures with standardized testing methods?

    Hi,
I'm sure many of you regularly do tests of new or modified network infrastructures before going live. And you developed detailed plans and schedules how to test, how I did too.
Does anybody know if there exist standardized testing methods for this cases?
Like recommendations how to check features, performance, hardware failures, convergence times, software updates, network management etc.?
Does Cisco offer information concerning that?
Especially for software testing there exist many methods to check if it's working properly, but for technical it infrastructures I did not find any informations.
    Best Regards
    Thorsten

    Thorsten
I guess you are looking for something like this -
    http://www.ciscopress.com/store/enterprise-network-testing-testing-throughout-the-network-9781587141270
should say I don't own the book or have ever read it.
I have never come across a set of standardised testing methods in the same way software has but that's is not particularly surprising when you consider networking as an industry is a long way behind other parts of IT in that respect.
We are all still using CLI for most of our jobs :-)
I suspect with SDN that there will be a far more extensive range of testing tools available in the long run but we aren't there yet.
Personally I do pretty much what you already have. When I was involved in design we had proof of concept labs where we could test it would actually work and which often fed back into the design.
Then we had to test it with the existing production environment to see how it impacted on what we already had.
If all that went well we then pretty much knew what tests we needed to run when we implemented it into production.

  • What will be tomorrows network infrastructure?

Due to historical reasons, many different network infrastructures co-exist in today's networks, such as Ethernet, SONET, ATM, etc. However, if we are building a complete new infrastructure for a metro or large campus network, which technology would be the most appropriate? What is Cisco Expert’s opinion?

I would answer this question differently if I were considering the use of the network to be a service providers network or an enterprise network in that I could achieve a different cost model based on single versus multiple customers on the same networks. Also, the end needs of each customer are different, and if they were completely defined could lead to a different cost model for the services rendered.
Generally, a service providers network requires support for TDM and data protocols, requires stringent Service Level Agreements, and generally either owns their own or has a lower cost per mile for fiber than an enterprise. For this reason, a SONET/SDH based network with data capabilities provides the most cost effective way to transport the variety of circuits and streams from the end users location to the point-of-presence (POP) and a WDM system based network is used for the long haul and inter-POP traffic is used. Data can be Ethernet over SONET/SDH or WDM, or it can be done with RPR (802.17).
The enterprise is usually seen as more fiber constrained, and therefore uses a metro WDM (Coarse or Dense) to transport SAN and Ethernet connections between buildings. The ability for the enterprise to convert most legacy traffic into Ethernet, and the ability to combine Ethernet ports into ever-larger trunk speeds, can also lead to very cost effective Ethernet over dark fiber networks up to the new 10 Gigabit per second standard. RPR systems can also be used to extend SONET/SDH recovery mechanisms to Layer 2 and 3 networks.
With voice and video moving to native IP, and the ability to tunnel most other legacy traffic over IP, Metro Ethernet systems over dark fiber, or extended over WDM or SONET/SDH systems are beginning to be the most cost effective way for businesses to connect within the campus or metro today.
The question we have to ask whenever we build a network is what will the next 10 years bring us. My vision is one of lots of devices with wireless mobility, the mixing of SIP and HTTP services to the mobile devices, and lots of high speed Global Area Networking overhead to figure out who and where you are. What is your vision of the traffic and protocols you will be required to support in ten years?

  • Infrastructure required for Mail Adapter

    Hi Experts,
I need to work on a Mail Adapter B2C scenario where XI sends emails to the client with XML file as attachements.
    Questions:
    1. What is the additional hardware infrastructure required to use the Mail adapter apart from the SAP XI server.
    2. How can the mails be archived somewhere, in case I do not want to store them in my inbox-->sent items folder.
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Shobhit

as for my knowledge is concerned...
there are no more requirements ...
but check the firewall issue.....and know what is the version and service pack u are using...
and check wether u require sender, receiver addresses and subject required in the mail...if go with mail package check box in the mail adapter..
check wether mails are to be sent to two or more receivers...if semicolon( will do to separate them.
and check wether SLD is done proper or not bcoz, even i was right in my scenario and there was an issues in SLD and i traced it after few days...where i delayed my work..
hmm.....if any i will get back to u shobit....

  • Designing Network Infrastructure

    Hi,
I am working on a project to design and implement new data center infrastructure Also migrate users from the old network . The current setup is that network has several vlans and each switch is connected to the main switch via fibre. The new network infrastructure will have two core switches 6509, several 4500 series switches for wiring closet and 3750 switches where the devices will be connected. 4500 switch will be connected to both core switches 6509 via fibre. In this situation, what will be the proper network design? Will appreciate any thoughts.
    Thanks

through ur discription i havnt heard from u any thing about the ditribution layer!!
u need the distribution layer befor the core layer
    in other words
    it should be like
    access switches-- distribution --core
    basicaly
on the access layer creat all the required vlans but keep them on lyer two
    dont make and vlan interface
    on the distribution layer
creat the same vlans here layer two
and then creat a vlan interface SVI fopr each vlan
and this vlan interface will be the default gateway for the access switches in the corsponding vlan
next if u want or and u see it required make a core layer
while i think u dont need it
in ur case the distibution layer will be called
    distribution/core layer
the link between the access switches and the dist. switches must be trunk
if u want redundancy and high availabilty
u need two dist switches with identical config to some extend
i mean the ip addresing not meant to be the same but in the same ranges with regard to each vlan
and configure hsrp on the dist switches
in the case the default gateway for each vlan access layer user will be the vertiual interface of that vlan hsrp group
also u have to make the active switch in the hsrp group the root switch in the spanning tree config
for dhcp make the ip helper address on each SVI on the dist. switching pointing to a dhcp server and useing the proper VIP for that vlan group as the default gateway
    and add the
spanning-tree portfast on each access port that will be a dhcp client
    good luck
    please if helpful rate

  • Network Security Requirement : Confidential - Not Enforced

I am having a perplexing problem with the network security requirement feature in SJSAS 8 Update 1.
In deploytool, under my WAR, in the security tab, for my only SecurityConstraint, I set the Network Security Requirement to CONFIDENTIAL. This should cause any access to thse objects over port 80 to be redirected to https via for 443.
The failure is that it does not redirect clients accessing over port 80 to a secure connection. The tricky part is that it fails in a completely random way. Sometimes for some WARs it will work as expected, then after X number of server restarts / redeployments, some of the same WARs will not do the redirect as expected. Through continuous redeploys and restarts during development, all WARs will or will not do the redirect in any given situation.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and worked around it? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Problems joining Wi-Fi networks that require viewing a redirect page in iOS 8.1.1? Check your "Auto-Login" setting.

Are you having problems joining previously used Wi-Fi networks that require you to view a login or redirect page (say to accept Terms of Use) first?  The problem could be your Auto-Login Wi-Fi network setting.
I found numerous cases where I could not access in-store Wi-Fi networks (Nordstrom was one), hotel networks or in fact networks where you had to first view a Terms and Conditions page or where you had to login via a web form.
These were all networks I had used before.
This appears to be due to the "Auto-Login" setting assuming that once you (re)join a previously known network you can just go ahead and use it without further action. When the iOS device receives an error trying to use the network, it silently drops the Wi-Fi association.
If this is happening to you, follow these steps:
    1) Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi
    2) Select the network you want to join
    3) When a check-mark appears next to the SSID, press the "i" button on the right hand side
    4) Set Auto-Join however you want, but shut off the Auto-Login switch
    5) Now attempt to use the network and you should be presented with the usual redirect page with terms you must accept or where you must login to use the Wi-Fi network in question
This cleared up the issue for me everywhere I had previously been having issues.

Just let me get one thing straight...you don't change don't do this for the PC you have your router plugged in to?
    "For Vista:
    1. Open Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, Manage Network Connections
    2. If Wireless, Right click on your Wireless Network Connection, otherwise, Right click on Local Area Connection and click Properties
    3. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)
    4. Click Properties
    5. Tick Use the Following IP Address and enter the IP you want to use for that PC. I would start at 192.168.0.100(D-Link) and work your way up on each additional device. The second device would be 192.168.0.101, the 3rd, 192.168.0.102 and so on. Like I said, different brands of routers use different IP's, so it could be 192.168.1.100 and so on, so you will need to know the IP address of your router first.
    6. Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 on all pc's and devices
    7. Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is on all pc's and devices
    8. Tick Use the Following DNS Server Address and enter 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is and click OK.
    9. You will need to do this on all Vista Pc's"

  • Network config requirement fails when installing Oracle 11gR1 on Windows XP

    Hi
I am trying to install 11g on Windows XP Professional, I am getting
    checking Network Configuration requirements ...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<<
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
    ========================================================
In the installation log I can see:
    Checking DetectIfDHCPAssignedIP
    INFO: Checking DetectIfDHCPAssignedIP
This is a prerequisite condition to test whether the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assiged or static.
    INFO: Detecting the IP.....:127.0.0.1
INFO: Checking the network interface display name.... :MS TCP Loopback interface
INFO: Checking the network reference name..... :lo
    INFO: Checking the platform .......912
INFO: Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<<
    ====================================================================
I installed Loop back adaptor and gave IP: 10.10.10.10 and subnet mask as : 255.255.255.0 .I added the entry 10.10.10.10 locahost in host file as well.
Could anybody tell me what is the problem?
    Thanks
    Praveena

I am able to resolve this by all network connections except Loop Adaptor connection and changing my computer name from LOCALHOST to HOME.

  • At home I have two wifi networks , I try to use one of them depending on their strength of signal, can I not save  both their passwords on Apple TV , so that I can switch to one of the two wifi networks as required

At home I have two wifi networks , I try to use one of them depending on their strength of signal, can I not save  both their passwords on Apple TV , so that I can switch to one of the two wifi networks as required
Also the passwords are long and cumbersome to type every time on the apple  TV remote, what is the alternative if I cannot store them on the memory of the Apple TV

Is it possible that you are using the same password for the old O2 Study and newer O2 Apple Base Station networks?
If so, Keychain Access is storing the old information about the old network and may be associating it with your AirPort Extreme settings based on the BSSID that William has mentioned.
If that's the case, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access and look for a listing with the old network name. Delete this entry. You may need to power down both the computer and the AirPort Extreme and restart them.

  • Error during Checking Network Configurations Requirements in RHEL3 VM

    Hi,
I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Image Virtual Machine on my desktop which uses Fedora Linux. I have set this up using VMplayer.
I need to install Oracle 10g on the RHEL VM.
As the RHEL VM does not have X Windows, I am connecting to it from the Fedora Linux to do the installation.
    During the Product-specific Prerequisite checks:
Checking Network Configurations Requirements throws an error,
    Please find it below:
Actual Result: Unknown Host Exception has Occured :rhel3vm:rhel3vm
Check complete: The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<<
Recommendations: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses. However, the primary network interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address in order for the Oracle software to function properly.
The Fedora Linux gets the IP address from the DHCP and allocates an IP address to the VM.
However, when we set both of them as static and the problem still persists, and also when we set the fedora as dynamic and RHEL VM as static, the issue is not resolved.
Any help will be truely appreciated. Thank you.

We were running a non-DHCP (static IP) configuration and ran into this issue. We discovered that the hostname and FQDN were not correctly specified in the /etc/hosts file.
Fixing the hosts file to correctly reference the IP resolved the issue.
    Hope this helps...

  • WAAS Inline Network Adapter Required for 674 Appliance Inline Mode?

Is an Inline Network Adpater required to setup a WAAS 674 Appliance in Inline Interception Mode or can the two inbuilt interfaces Gi1/0 anf Gi2/0 be used?

    Hi,
You definitely need an Inline Adapter to setup WAAS 674 for inline interception mode. The built in Gig interfaces cannot be used for inline interception but can be used for WCCP or PBR. Inline adapter comes in a group LAN port and a WAN port.
    Regards
    Kiran.
