Ocspd uses 100% of the cpu after upgrafde

After I upgraded my iMac to Mavericks, the ocspd process hogs the cpu according to the activity monitor. I tried using the Key Chain First Aid, repairing permissions, fscking, but nothing helped.

I've seen similar behaviour, was caused by browsing to a samba directory containing many many files from a macosx smb client.
Was more than 30000 files in a folder (images sequence for video work)
No problem on the same directory from a windows client.
It's related with case sensitive stuff, server is processing all the file case combinations.
So, just click on that directory from a maxosx client, and server will eat all his cpu, even if you stop browsing
Could it be your case ?
I've try to setup the server to be case unsensitive, but another problem appear, again only from macosx client : when converting copied file to default case, file is put to recycle bin (samba vfs), no problem from windows client, files are converted to default case without problem.
I'd like to try to force smbclient of mac clients to be case unsensitive, or may be compile latest samba on them too

  • IMac using 100% of the CPU, but no processes in Activity Monitor show usage over 3%. What's going on?

This iMac is about 5 years old. It has the 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 2GB RAM, and is running 10.8.5. After rebooting the machine, CPU usage is low. After about 30 seconds, when using Activity Monitor, CPU usage bumps up to 100% and stays there without budging. When viewing the CPU tab near the botom, % User is about 95+%, and % System makes up the other 5%. They change slightly every second. The problem is, if I sort my Processes by % CPU, the largest user is Activity Monitor with around 2.3%. Everything else is at 0.0%. So there's something weird going on causing the CPU to max out and run hot, but I can't figure out what's causing it. Checking for applications to force quit doesn't show any issues, and repairing permissions doesn't do anything. Is there any way to figure out what's going on? I read about how to reset the System Management Controller, is this something I should do? Thank you for ANY help, it's driving me crazy!
EDIT: I figured it out! Browsing All Processes, I'm running a folding@home program, but I thought I uninstalled it! The process is called FahCore_a4. Is there any way to prevent it from showing up on boot? I want to get rid of it but I deleted the applications!

Be certain to check that you are viewing "All Processes" as opposed to "My Processes"

  • Having tremendous difficulty with the new version of iTunes.  Moving from a playlist to the main music library has iTunes using 100% of the cpu and listed as not responding.  Not sure this new version was ready for release!

OK, issue seems to be when I've selected "Albums" as the view.  Moving to "Songs" is OK.  This problem just appeared with the new release.  Anyone else having difficulty?

well nobody bothered to give me a hint on what to do, maybe because the problems with the new version of iTunes are really a lot, there is an enormous amount of people out there that have all sort of different problems including mine  so I have decided to return to the previous version which works fine and wait untill the apple people come up with a decent product ....

  • Why is the latest version of Firefox 33.0.2 using 100% of my CPU?

Just like the last update to Thunderbird, with no changes on my system, the latest version of Firefox uses 100% of my CPU where it didn't before. I've run every test, disabled my anti-virus, run in safe mode and it makes no difference.
Since there was no useful answers when I posted about the TB problem, I doubt there will be any here.
Sorry Mozilla, but you're about to lose my support. I already moved away from Thunderbird. Now that FF has the same problem, I'm about to switch my browser to Chrome, even though it is not as good.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • Firefox use 100% of one CPU (Mac)

    I use last firefox (32) on MacOS X 10.6.8.
Sometime firefox start using 100% a one CPU, from that time the only way to stop it was to quit (it take severals seconds, sometime it hang). When it start i can close all windows, firefox continue using 100% CPU.
I follow standard instructions (update to lastest, disable plugins and extensions...) it do not work.
I not a configuration to reproduce the problem : keep iCloud mail open in one tab is the way to reproduce the problem sometime after a few minutes, sometime after some hours : but it also happend sometime with no iCloud open...

  • How can I get ITunes to stop using 100% of my CPU system resources

When ITunes is up, it uses 100% of my CPU resources, making everything else operate at a snail's pace. I'm not even doing anything with ITunes, but it still seems to hog my machine, a desktop computer running WIndows XP. (When Itunes is closed CPU usage goes down to 4%-25% or thereabouts on average.)
What can I do to stop this? It is very frustrating that Apple would make a program that does this without reason.
    David

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if CPU issue is resolved..
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Running Adobe Actions is Using 100% of my CPU

Does anyone have a fix for Adobe using 100% of their CPU.  Without running Photoshop I run 5-6%.  As soon as I open Lightroom, send to Photoshop and run an action my CPU Usage spikes to 100%.  What should take 2 minutes max to edit is taking between 5-7 minutes.  I'm spending more time waiting for an action to run than I am actually working.  I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and Creative Cloud version 1.9.0.465.  It's so bad that I have to transfer my images to my laptop (Window's 8) to edit which I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO! Here's another complaint:  When I'm in Lightroom and right click on an image and choose to edit in Photoshop I don't always get the option to edit original image or edit a copy.  Most of the time it goes straight to CS6.  When I save the edit the saved edited image does not go back to it's original catalog, rather it goes to the main catalog without keywords and I have to go on a treasure hunt to find it and mark it with keywords.  I hoped purchasing the subscription would eliminate bugs to the program but it doesn't.  I have more bugs with the subscription than I ever had with the purchased programs. It's also important to note that I have not changed any of the preferences.  Thanks for any help y'all can provide.

    Hi,
The size of the image is 1000*600.
I use the default radius of the filter. I don't know the value.
    I run the swf on a Intel core2duo 2.2Ghz.
I use the filter array to apply the filter.
To illustrate my problem, you can download a very simple sample of my project here. It's a grid where i draw a collection of items in a bitmap.
If i apply the filter in the constructor of the grid in Index.as by passing true in the first parameter, my CPU usage is at 20 to 30%. If I don't apply the filter, the CPU usage is at 2 to 3%.
    What is the problem?
    Thanks for your help.

  • One database using most of the CPU

    HI,
On one of our SQL server, the CPU was really high. I ran a query to find out which database was using most of the CPU. We have about 30 databases on that server.
Database 1 is using 90% of the CPU
    Database 2 3.5%
    Database 3 1.5%.
    etc...
The database 1 in our Intranet and i really don't understand why it's using all the CPU available. We have just a few people connected at once.
I'd like to know if there's any way to find out why that database is using all the CPU? Memory leak, bad code, etc...
    Thank you

---This first thing to check if CPU is at 100% is to look for parallel queries:
-- Tasks running in parallel (filtering out MARS requests below):

My Finder keeps grabbing over 100% of the CPU which seems to stop me from opening any folders.
Only quitting the Finder from Activity monitor resets it to normal.
    Any ideas?

Nope, I don't have a "/Users/charon/Library/Mobile Documents" directory, let alone anything underneath it. Is that like an iCloud thing or something?  I tend to avoid the Apple-supplied services when I can (I don't use iTunes either unless I can help it).
As an update, as of about two days later this problem seems to have solved itself. Possibly sleeping and waking did something to it (though that seems unlikely given how many times I rebooted), or else there was just some long-*** kernel process that finally worked itself out.  But my system CPU is back down to normal and the cursor freezes are gone.
    ??? it is a mystery! ???
