Hi All,
Is the oct cpu patch 2009 is bundeled in 10.2.0.4 patchset, if i install 10.2.0.4 patch is it not required to install cpu patch seperately ?

Since 10.2.0.4 has been release much before the CPU patch you're talking about, the patchset does not include it. You'll have to install the CPU separately.
By the way, why stopped on CPUOCT2009 and not go for the latest one CPUJAN2009 ?
Since CPU are cumulatives, you could install only the latest one.

I am trying to download the OCT 2012 CPU patch for the 11.2.0.3 to install on Linux x86-64 which is having OS of RHEL 5.7. I am able to get the OCT 2012 PSU patch which include the CPU patch too.

GI 11.2.0.3.4 PSU Patch 14275572, or

If I click on Critical Patch Update - October 2012 its takes to the window for selectin the database version (11.2.0.3). From there it goes to the Patch Set Update and Critical Patch Update October 2012 Availability Document [ID 1477727.1] which I had already checked.
There for the database products it shows the below option.

In the context of this thread, "cpu" refers to Critical Patch Update (CPU)

its not showing any downloadable files for linux however i tried using unix version but its saying platform not supported

I have been asked to apply latest security patch .

I am new to R12 CPU patch analysts, I need Some Guidence,
I want to know how to find out the versions in R12,
1.Oracle HTTP server version.
Oracle HTTP Server Patches for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12
Table 2 lists the patches for Oracle HTTP Server. Oracle HTTP Server patches are cumulative; that is, Critical Patch Update patches contain all previous CPU content. Where applicable, customers need to apply the following CPU patches to both the OracleAS 10.1.2 and OracleAS 10.1.3 Oracle Homes.
Mean i want to apply Oracle HTTP server patches in both 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle homes..

In 11i we can find out . ./httpd -version , but in R12 how to find Oracle HTTP server version and Application Developer (forms,reports) versions.Oracle HTTP Server:
UNIX: $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd -version
Windows: %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\apache.exe -version
Oracle Developer:
Unix: frmcmp_batch.sh
Windows: frmcmp.exe
Or, get it from the application (Help > About Oracle Applications).
How to apply patches in both oracle homes.
10.1.3 --> Application Server 10.1.3 Java ORACLE_HOME (OC4J, Apache).
10.1.2 --> Application Server 10.1.2 Developer ORACLE_HOME (Forms, Reports).Always follow the steps in the Patch README file to apply the patches (you will mainly use opatch).

Oracle cpu patch apr/july/oct/jan

Need you advise here.
Do you guys always apply the cpu patch upon released by oracle? Is it a good practise to do so?
Does CPU patch only consist of security fix or also bug fix?

It is recommended to apply CPU patches as soon as possible. CPU patches only fix security issues, they do not contain other bug fixes.

Oracle CPU Jan 2009 cause performance issue

I did installed Oracle CPU Jan 2009 on HP-UX machine. But once the installation is completed, users complaint saying that it takes more than 1 minutes to open a new ticket on that application. With this, it cause a backlog processess increase tremendously.
Will the CPU Jan 2009 patch cause any of the network performance issue:
Server: HP-UX Itanium 64 bit
Database: Oracle 10.2.0.3.0
Instances: 2 instances running on this server.

I believe the latest CPU Patch for Oracle 10.2.0.3 on HP is CPU Jan 2009 only.Don't you think your database should be on 10.2.0.4?
Anyways, do you have any benchmark statspack/AWR report? Can you compare that with the latest one? Do you see any difference?

CPU Jul 2009 applied to a 10.2.0.4 DB. getting ORA-01418

Hi all
I have a question about the latest Database CPU patch
I have just applied it to our UAT system and I am getting the following error in the log file generated.
SQL> alter index xdb.xdbhi_idx rebuild;
alter index xdb.xdbhi_idx rebuild
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01418: specified index does not exist
In the read me doc ORA-01418 is not mentioned as an ignorable error
any ideas?
Patch number is 8559466
DB is running on a windows environment.
PS I have have a look though meta link was unable to find anything.

I have checked and the index does not actually exist,

However this does not mean the issue has been resolved/can be ignored
as its creation could have been a part of the CPU Patch.
I have checked another very similar DB where the patch was applied yesterday. and ran the query and the index does exist.

Sapstart fails after installation of CPU-Patch April2009 on Oracle 10.2.0.4

Hi Experts,
after installing the CPU-Patch April2009 for Oracle 10.2.0.4, startsap fails with error code 12.
Starting everything manually works (lsnrctl start, sqlplus and do startup, after that startsap works).
When the listener and the database are running, things like R3trans -x also work without errors.
I found a SAP-Note 97953 but I don't know if this is the solution. Some of the oracle-executables in the bin-directory have been modified. So there is a "oracle" and a "oracle0" . The timestamp indicates to me that these files were modified while implementing the CPU-Patch.
I also checked SAP-Note 583861but with no success.

If the database is up everything works. Here is the output of "R3trans -d"

For me this all looks o.k. when the database is down R3trans won't be able to reach it and if the database is up it works. But why I can't then just execute "sapstart" ?

CPU patches

Hi All
Env Oracle Apps:- 11.5.10.2 , OS :- Solaris 5.10.
Our database was created on September 2006. Since than none of the CPU patches appplied.
Now we are planning to apply CPU patches.
We will need to apply CPU patches from Oct 2006 till date ie 22 quarter cpu patches or directly we can apply the latest January 2012 CPU patches.

CPU patches applicable to Oracle XE database?

I asked this question before on OTN and Metalink. The answer I received was "NO"
the only support for XE is the OTN and no patchsets, CPU's for XE by Metalink.

CPU Patches to EBS

Hello :
I have successfully upgraded the system to latest patchsets. The database is already on 11g. The only thing which is pending now is the CPU Patches.
I know that the Database and the Application tier CPU patch is cumulative where as the EBS suite patch is not cumulative.
For me to apply the EBS suite CPU's I need to know the current CPU patch applied to it. If I know this then I can probably list all the CPU patches that needs to be applied to the system.Is there any way or query that I can use to get this information.
Please advice any good reference material to carry out this patching. I want to merge all the EBS patches together and then apply it in one shot.

Latest CPU patch for 10.2.03 database

Hi,
Could any one let me know what is the latest CPU patch avaliable for 10.2.0.3...?

The terminal CPU patch for most platforms for 10.2.0.3 is Jan 2009 - see "Terminal Patch History" section of MOS Doc 1159443.1 (Patch Set Update and Critical Patch Update October 2010 Availability Document).
