Octapad muting ultrabeat in logic

My octapad II is not triggering sounds in ultrabeat. I see the notes. The drums are assigned correctly , but instead of playing the sound it mutes the drum. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It was real stupid...I was turning so much crap on and off that I had hit a mute button on the ultrabeat interface. Just waiting for my Duet 2 to start tracking my solo project.
Thanks again!

  • Problems Opening Ultrabeat in Logic Pro X

Hey guys, I know this might be a dumb question but I just can't seem to find an answer. I can't seem to find out how to open Ultrabeat in Logic X like I was able to in Logic 9. Can someone tell me how to open it because it is becoming frustrating searching for it.
    Thank you!!

    Hi Moff,
It's in the same place as all the other Apple AU instruments.
If you look at the track inspector section of your instrument track (via clicking the the big i at top left) you will see a slot for "instrument" between Audio and MIDI effects slots. Click the little arrows (or the word instrument) and a list will appear. It's in that list about 2/3 of the way down.
    That's it!

  • Ultrabeat in Logic Pro X is missing drum kits

    Hi,
So recently, I got Logic Pro X because I've been meaning to try producing house music with it. I was introduced to Ultrabeat in some tutorials saying to click the dropdown menu (at the top) and select 01 drum kits and choose Trance Kit 02. However, when I click the dropdown menu, I seem to only have 8 samples in the drum kit and none of them sound good at all. Why do I have only 8? I've seen other discussions where people have up to 25+, is this something that I can download from the additonal content? And if so, what is it called?
    Many Thanks!
    MChen.

    Try Drum Machine
....and also the Logic Studio 2 Compatibility Sounds and Instruments found under the Legacy entry.... along with the GB 11 Sounds and instruments.. and finally the Instruments found under Jam pack 1, Jam Pack Remix and Jam Pack Rhythm,
Also make sure the Essential Sounds and Instruments set has downloaded completely too...
Personally, if you have the space, I'd download all the content...  as there is so much on offer for free... that you may find useful in the future.

  • New bug in Ultrabeat into Logic Pro 8.0.1

Hey guys check this... a brand new bug (hope it would be only my mac, but with 8.0.0 there wasn't)
so open ultrabeat, choose the preset called Drag & drop samples under Drum Kits.
(just to use one free preset)
load a file and record something, then press play in order to listen your drum and try to load an other sample to make comparison (example: load a kick, do a 4/4 drum, try to replace the kick with an other sample and check the Preview sample in ultrabeat to try comparison... )
after this update no more Preview sample in ultrabeat voice (and than note will stop on playing when u try that function
    sorry for the english

finally i find someone else with the same prob, o already post into apple.com too
yes here the same, bug new in 8.0.1, cause on logic 8.0.0 all works fine (except some click noise when you pre-listen a file in autoloop)
however here what i can say to you (it's 3 days i'm studyng this cause i make a massive use of ultrabeat)
    - no matter both power pc / intel soffer of this bug
    - i try to update to leopard from my 10.4.11 (same bug) tryin a new os installation (same bug), tryn without audio card and driver (same bug)
so i really don't know how to solve it, cause there are only few people that have this problem
    big mistake and big mistery

  • Dumb Question: Where is Ultrabeat in Logic Express?

Long time GarageBand user here, so I had Logic pre-installed on my iMac... I'm getting familiar with the interface, but I cannot locate Ultrabeat to save my life... Can someone please point me in the right direction??

First of all, if you still can't find Ultrabeat, create a new Software Instrument track. Next, move your cursor over to the instrument channel strip on the far left, go down to the I/O button and click&hold until you see a pop-up. About two thirds of the way down you will see Ultrabeat.

  • Mainstage Ultrabeat into Logic Pro 8?

    Hi,
Does anyone know how I could Export a Mainstage "Ultrabeat" (not just a loop but say a five minute improvision jam) into Logic Pro 8, so I could improvise over it in Logic Pro 8? Especially the rhythm combinations. Thanks!

I think you can use something like Soundflower to route audio from one app into another.
You can always just open the same UB channel strip setting in Logic and do everything in there that you would do in Mainstage.

  • :: how do you launch Ultrabeat in Logic 7.2.1? ::

hi, i'm new to this ap and also installed iDrum at the same time. i've tried to click and hold on a new Audio Instrument and look everywhere after that in the drop downs for either iDrum or Ultrabeat. My Sound prefs are set to MOTU PCI 424. any help would be appreciated as i've read all the manuals and read through the discussions as well. i also have GarageBand installed on this machine ... it was installed after Logic if that makes a difference.
thanks, any advice will be appreciated.

you launch Ultrabeat from the I/O on an audio
    instrument channel.
click and hold on the I/O section of the Audio
instrument channel strip. the drop down menu will
    display all the available instruments
HI, thanks for replying. i've tried clicking and holding there and i don't ever see Ultrabeat. i see all the effects etc. ... Gutar Amp etc. ... but no Ultraeat or iDrum either and it's supposed to be accessed the same way. do i have to set up my "studio" differently? i see all the Ultrabeat samples in the Library on the hard drive so i'm just not sure why Logic isn't seeing Ultrabeat. do you have any other ideas or suggestions? thanks again for replying and the help.

  • Help with Ultrabeat in Logic Pro 8

A couple of things I want to learn/be able to do in Ultrabeat
Customizing drum kits - what I mean by this is, I want to be able to freely pick desired drum sounds from the multitude of logic libraries, mixing and matching them in the ultrabeat sampler. Like say taking a kick drum from one kit and a snap from another, and building up my own custom kit in the process.
Assigning specific drum sounds in ultrabeat to desired midi controller pads - say assigning a kick drum to a pad on my midi controller and a snare to another, etc (this would actually be useful for just sounds in general).... I have a axiom 25.

Each voice in ultrabeat can hold a sample in OSC1. Drag a sample or audio file into the sample area.
Or use the import button to choose a preset Kit. Then click the arrow next to import and click on a sound in the list to audition it. Then drag it onto the voice (on the left assignment area) you want.

  • MUTED BRASS- Does Logic come with them?

I'm looking to orchestrate commercial style stuff, so I need mutes of all kinds for brass, and of course I need good saxes...Does Logic come with those?
If not, can you recommend a library? Fablesounds Broadway Big Band is over $2000, and the Garritan Big Band sounds wonky...any advice?
Also, is it ok to put the sound libraries (new ones, not the apple ones) on an external drive?

<PCIe card? Do I need that? I have a quad (2 core) mac pro with lots of ram.... you're scaring me!>
It all depends on your set up. The problem I have been having is that I am using an Alesis iO 26 FW400 interface and two large LaCie Big Disk extremes on the FW800. I also capture video from HD cameras. The power to all the FW jacks are shared and the Alesis and most FW interfaces use a lot of bandwidth. Enough so that errors occur like the Alesis doen't get enough juice so it doen't respond and you have to reboot it by un- and re-plugging it. Sometimes you do this and the drives disappear and you need Disk Utility to remount them. Sometime distortion. I have managed to make it work but it certainly is not a good situation.
I had a client come in with his HD camera to capture some footage and when I plugged in the camera the entire FW bus went down. Not good.
A PCI(e) cards does not share its power with the FW bus so you end up with a lot more stable system. Card comes tomorrow and cost $115. Worth every penny not having to worry about my drives.
I wouldn't consider 2 gigs of RAM lots. I am considering adding to my 4.5. Mostly since I tend to run LP8, FCP, Photoshop, Motion, Aperture at the same time with clients or subs in the room.
ALL THAT SAID...if you have two drives, on the boot drive for the app and the other for content, you are fine to start and will know what you need as your needs expand--and they probably will.
Here's a string that talks about the FW problems (and one of LP8s biggest bugs).

  • Ultrabeat not synced with Track Tempo

I thought I posted here before, but apple made me re-register. My apologies if someone has answered this for me before, I cannot find it...
I am trying to make a drumtrack with Ultrabeat in Logic Pro 8, and am running into a peculiar problem. I loaded the Indian and MiddleEastern kit, because I wanted tablas, but the sequencer is stuck in this odd triplet format that is throwing the tempo way off. The exported pattern turns out to be 2.6 bars long.... Does anyone know how I can fix this?

you need to use Triplet sequence in the song?
have you tried to set Tempo sign at 3/4 or 6/4 or 12/8?

  • Logic X - Exs24 missing "legacy instruments" folder

    HI,
I'm missing the Legacy Instruments folder in my EXS24. It's not in the sampler, and it's not in the file system (/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments). There _should_ be a folder there called "12 Legacy Instruments", but it doesn't exist.
I've found a few other threads on this and tried:
    repairing permissions.
    REindexing Spotlight
re-downloading Legacy and Compatibility from Download Additional Content
    Suggestions please?
    Thanks!
    logic 10.0.7
    Mac 10.9.4

OK, I figured out that this Legacy content is on the Logic 9 install disks. Here's how I solved it. I used Pacifist, which was mentioned in some other threads, but not really explained. I was also unsure whether this was a Logic 9 legacy issue, or something from way back in Logic 7 or 8. Hopefully this will help someone....
    1. Download and install Pacifist from Charlessoft
    2. Get all your Logic 9 disks ready, and open the Logic Studio Install disk in Pacifist. (You will need to insert all the Logic disks to open the complete package.)
    3. in Pacifist, search "legacy". In mine, this gave 5 results: Legacy Bass Guitar, 10 Legacy Instruments, 04 Logic Legacy Kits, 12 Legacy Instruments, and 06 Legacy Spaces. The Pacifist browser window shows the file path.
    4. In the Pacifist browser, right-click (or control-click) on the folder, and choose "Extract to Custom Location...", and extract to the corresponding location on your hard drive:
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings/Track/04 Bass Guitar/Legacy Bass Guitar/
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/10 Legacy Instruments/
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Ultrabeat/04 Logic Legacy Kits/
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/12 Legacy Instruments/
    /Library/Audio/Impulse Responses/Apple/06 Legacy Spaces
That should be all you need to add the Legacy content, without doing a full install. They are all just presets, except the EXS stuff, which is presets and samples — so if you want that you need to add both the EXS Factory Samples/10 Legacy Instruments AND the Sampler Instruments/12 Legacy Instruments. Otherwise they can be added modularly.

  • MIDI group MUTE bug in Logic 8

    1. Create a brand new Logic song
    2. Create a few External MIDI tracks
    3. Use your pencil tool to create some random segments on these tracks in the Arrange Window
    4. Mute some of these segments (not all of them)
    5. Go into your group settings and assign all of your MIDI tracks to group 1 (be sure group 1 is enabled in group settings) and make sure "Mute" is checked in group settings as well.
    6. Click on mute button on one of your tracks (should mute all of your MIDI tracks)
    7. Save the song and close it.
    8. Re-open the song
Notice the track mute buttons are deactivated and ALL of your segments in the song are Muted!
In Logic Pro 7, I could open the song again, unmute the tracks and the segments would still be muted and unmuted the same way I left them before saving...

Be sure to let apple know you want this fixed by sending
a description of it to them at the url below...

  • Multiple MIDI tracks to one instrument?

    The plugin is Ultrabeat.
I like putting the kick onto one MIDI track
the snare into another MIDI track,
    hats on another, etc....
Problem is, all of the MIDI tracks that route to the Ultrabeat
are the actual instrument track that has the plugin inserted onto it.
So MUTING one track mutes all the audio coming out of
    the Ultrabeat Instrument track.
An attempt at a workaround is: create a Multi-instrument
in the Environment, and connect it to the Ultrabeat.
But then MUTING the MIDI tracks doesn't do anything.
The MIDI tracks play even when MUTED.
So I'm guessing Region Muting is the way we do it?
Selecting individual regions for muting and solo-ing
instead of muting and soloing the track ?
So..the MUTE button on a MIDI track is there for...NO REASON.
It's just a button that doesn't do anything.
Well.. this MIDI track has muted and non-muted regions on it.
I guess I'll need to remember which ones are muted and which
    are not ?
This couldn't possibly have been something that was thought over
    and planned.
Nobody in their right mind would design it this way on purpose.
A solution would be to allow MIDI tracks to be MUTED using the 'M' button

Are you talking about MIDI track on external MIDI?
your question seems to be related with Instrument tracks...
there many Muting possibilities in Logic...
I suggest to read the manual serch for "mute track"
As you can see in the manual there are tons of pages and paragraphs about MUTE function in Logic Pro... so I cannot explain all the way to MUTE a Midi or Audio
I can only say that Instruments tracks are not the same as External MIDI track device... *but Muting Instrument track is very similar as Audio and Midi mixed together functions*
'cause the Instruments channels strips are AUDIO CHANNELs STRIPs!
Maybe the following pictures can help
Try to change setting with the one shown below
CPU-savings is not the correct therm and maybe this is caused of misunderstanding...
this set allow you to individually mute the duplicate tracks...
_+The "M" button that you are metioned in your post will works as you need.+_
I'm trying to replay to the O.P question
multiple MIDI tracks to one instrument?
if you need to mute individually tracks of a single instrument the last pictures shows the best setting to achieve the result that you are looking for.

  • How to "A/B" two tracks?

Does anyone know? There's gotta be a way, right? In Samplitude I just toggle the "A" track solo button on and off while I have everything but the "B" track muted, but in Logic I guess the solo doesn't override the mute.

The closest you can come is by using Solo mode (key: "s")
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicpro/usermanual/index.html#chapter=13%26se ction=7%26tasks=true
in conjunction with the preference setting "select regions on track selection": *Logic Pro>Preferences>General>Editing* .
The track you select will be soloed (well, effectively the regions on it will be) allowing for A-B'ing. Note that mute and solo buttons in the track header and the mixer are still valid in Solo mode.
