Octave to uff

 Hello,
I am performing vibration analysis and have to save all data in UFF format. I am unable to write one third octave data to UFF. Please can anyone help me out?
Basic problem I am facing is, octave data in X-axis is not linear and SVT does not allow it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
     Using of NI Sound
and Vibration Toolkit you can convert .TDMS to .UFF file format. Click Here you will get answer for this conversion with some of the example.

  • How do I make a transpose/octave button for just one instrument in a split?

I work in mainstage 2.2.2 with patches that are using splits, and I want to make an octave button for just one instruments in a patch. Suggestions? (If I press the octave button in my keyboard, the whole split point moves, no good...)
    Benny

An octave button for just one instrument will work for some instruments. EVB3, ESX24, ESM and a few others can be assigned. However I was unable to make it work with EVP88 and ES2. Try this example: in layout mode set up a button(or buttons) on your controller keyboard for changing octaves. In edit mode add a channel strip and select an ESX24 instrument. Select the screen control button you want to assign in the workspace. In the screen control inspector, select the mappings tab. The list below will say unmapped. Double-click on it. Select the instrument in the list. Another list to the right will appear. Select ESX24 (Sampler). In the column to the right, select the pitch folder, then select transpose. To the right, you'll see saved value, button on and button off values. This should get you started. Some of the instruments have different menus, so they'll be a little different. Have fun with it.

  • 1 button not working in Octave 3

My H button is not working in Octave 3. all the others work but I just get no sound when clicking H in octave 3. I remember a pop up window came and I clicked something quickly and then it just never worked.

Open your Controller Assignments window (cmd-K) and delete whatever's assigned to your H key*. Make sure that learn mode is off (blue button: on, grey button: off) before you close the window.
(*for the rest of the world: in German the B note is called H, and the Bb note B)

  • Solution for converting the UFF58--- UFF58b or UFF Ascii.

    Dear all,
Rightnow, I'm working on vibration analysis by using LV signal express
2010 which seem can be exported the measurement file as the UFF58. (Universal
    File Format)
but my problem is; I have to use this measurement file with another program which accept only the UFF58b and UFF Ascii format.
I try to find solutions for convert UFF58--->UFF58b or UFF Ascii.  Does anyone have an idea? Please help.
    Thank you in advance.

It looks like the LabVIEW Sound and Measurement Suite would do the trick, or possibly Diadem, though I'm not sure if you have LabVIEW.  What program are you trying to open the file with?  It may also have a package you can download that supports all of the formats.  For instance, there appears to be a UFF file reader and writer if you Google "uff files" in the top result, but that's only if you were using a specific program.  But I suppose the easiest way would be if you already had the Sound and Measurement Suite.

  • Third octave operations with "sound and vibration toolkit"

    Hi!
I’m working about third octave decomposition with a vibration signal.
I’m using the sound and vibration toolkit.
The sample frequency of my signal is 2400 Hz.
And I’m working with a 1 second vibration signal (so 2400 points).
    Fs = 2400
    N = 2400
I need to understand the different and successive operations that the “SVT Fractional-octave Analysis [IEC].vi”VI do.
In fact, I think that my frequency resolution (df = Fe/N=1Hz) is too low.
    Do you have a solution?
Maybe I could turn into my 1 sec signal in 10 sec signal with 10 recopies and assemblage of my previous signal?
    N’ = 10N so df = Fe/10N = 0.1Hz.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
The first thing you have to do is to read the Chapter 7 of the user manual of the Sound and Vibration Toolset.
You can find it in : program -> National Instruments -> LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolset -> User Manual
This chapter discusses fractional-octave analysis, including fractional-octave analysis theory, averaging modes supported by the
Octave Analysis VIs, settling time, and ANSI and IEC standards.

  • How to design a digital filter given roll-off in dB/Octave

I am trying to design a filter in DFD based on the attached image "Filter Criteria". I believe the requirement given by this image is that the filter must lie somewhere between two possible "border" filters. I've convinced myself that the attached filter does not fit this criteria.
My thinking now is that this criteria could be met by either a butterworth filter as shown but with the stopband edge frequency at 250Hz instead of 100Hz, or by an elliptical filter with passband edge frequency of 100Hz and stopband edge frequency at 1066Hz, or any filter that lies between those two.
I'm looking for clarification on how to input the design criteria directly given the DFD toolkit, so namely whether there is a way to input the rolloff in dB/Octave, or if my alternate interpretation of that roll-off can be used to design a filter as shown.
Any help is, of course, appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Justin

I'm accepting your solution - and adding more information on why your filter meets the requirements.
My filter also had the additional requirement of using a sample rate of 1000Hz, so I had to change the stopband edge frequency based on that sample rate. I found that the rolloff rate corresponds directly to the order of the filter, and since for Butterworth filters, order 2 corresponds to 12dB/Octave, order 3 to 18dB/Octave, and order 4 to 24dB/Octave, any of those 3 orders of filter will fit my criteria. By adjusting the stopband freqency it's possible to change the order of the filter, so as below the stopband frequency of 327Hz gives an order 3 filter, which should be right in the middle of the acceptable range.
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • East West Keyswitches off by 1 octave in Logic Pro X

I am using East West Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus, Play, and Logic Pro X. The keyswitch notes indicated in the East West manual are one octave lower than the notes that actually trigger the articulations in Logic Pro. For example, the solo violin master keyswitch instrument lists the F0 key as the keyswitch for the half step trill articulation. However, in Logic Pro, F0 does not trigger anything, but F1 triggers the half step trill articulation. This is not an isolated incident, as I have tried several other articulations and the keyswitches that trigger those are all one octave higher than they should be. I could just put up with this, except that for the solo violin and other instruments, the keyswitch notes overlap with the regular notes, meaning the keyswitch notes are audible in my track. As a final note, my MIDI keyboard is able to utilize keyswitches correctly (i.e, when I play C0 on the keyboard, the C0 keyswitch is triggered in the Play window).
Is there an easy fix for this?

    kenneth.smith wrote:
I think this worked. The odd thing is, I have a Roland A-88 keyboard but the Yamaha setting works for me. Thanks!
Not odd at all.  The communication in question is between Logic and the plug in.  There may even be a setting within the plug that is basically the same thing.

  • How to apply 1/3 octave bandpass filter of about 10Khz on a signal

I am unable to retrieve the time signal after doing the 1/3 octave analysis.

Can you post a simple example program?

  • LP 10 support scala tuning files with more than 12 notes? Does it support octaves larger or smaller than 2/1?

LP 9 limits the amount of notes in an octave to 12 and the octaves must be 2/1 as far as I know.
This makes using exotic scales like 31tet or Wendy Carlos Alpha/Beta/Gamma scales impossible.
The only reason I'd upgrade to LP 10 at this point is if they've fixed that... and the many bugs in LP 9.

The main issue you are having is that you are using a 32 bit OS. The memory limitations for a 32 bit OS is 4G. If memory is serving me, the way linux allocates memory in a 4 GB system is that it divides it into 4 different chunks. 1G for the kernel, 1G for user processes (aka database instance), 1G for libaries, and the last G I can't remember right now. In essense you have 1G of memory to play with for user processes. You can relink the oracle executables to load lower into memory to give you more space for user apps, but I think the limit here is somewhere around 1.8G. To use more than 4G of memory you need to use either hugemem, or I believe there is another method. You would need to look at the RH doc on how to do this. Is it an option to use the 64bit version of RH? This would eliminate this problem altogether.

  • MIDI note input appears 1 octave lower when controller pads are hit

I can't figure this out and I've wasted 5 hours today trying to correct it....
I have recently noticed that midi input from my padKontrol is being transposed down 1 octave (ie I hit an A2, it appears and sounds in my midi applications as A1). This does not occur with midi data that comes direct from my Axiom 61 keyboard; however, it does happen with another device (MV8000) I have that uses the Axiom's Midi IN interface. I hit a pad on the Mv that is assigned to A2, it shows up as A1 in the Logic transport. In Battery it will trigger the cell assigned to A1 instead of A2.
I'm perplexed because it is happening with two different devices on two different interfaces, yet the Axiom doesn't do it on its own ouput, but it does occur on the data received at the midi in on its interface. Doesn't make sense and it occurs both in Logic and Battery. I'm thinking its an AMS/Core Midi issue since hte padKontrol is truly plugnd play (did not have to install drivers), but I dont have clue on how to get AMS to act right. I couldn't find another applicable forum to post this so I am asking here since Logic is the closest subject to my issue.
    Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for the response. I know the two pieces of hardware that are impacted pretty well and they have no setting to transpose outbound midi notes in realtime. I bellieve I found the problem to actually be software related, In Logic, somehow I had the middle C setting set to C3. When I switched it to Roland C4, which I think is the default, the notes I hit on my controller and the MV appeared in the transport as they were programmed. As far as Battery goes, I think it may default to midlle C at C3 (I'll have to check), but I set it to transpose midi input up 1 octave.

  • [SOLVED] Trying to install Octave, gcc-fortran dep. doesn't install

I've been trying to install Octave.
I've found that down the dependency chain that gcc-fortran is giving me the classic mutlilib conflict error:

Does the package need to be fixed? Or does it really depend on the non-multilib version of gcc stuff?  Any tips would be appreciated, I'd prefer to fix PKGBUILD and makepkg if I can instead of doing a uninstall/reinstall ballet.

  • Midi an octave away on score from how it sounds

The midi I've recorded reads an octave higher in the notation than it sounds for one part. Any ideas?

    Three things to check out:
1 - In the Inspector on the Arrange Page for that Track, select the Track and Region and look to see if it is transposed there (right under the name of the Region at the top) You could try correcting the transposition by putting it down an Octave
2 - In the Score Editor you may have the Score Style "Contra Bass" selected - this will play the notes where you hear them but transpose everything up visually as per the standard convention for bass parts
3 - Set the key command for Event Transpose +1 and Event Transpose -1. Then 'Select All' notes in the Region and count 12 transpositions with the appropriate Event Transpose ( the buttons + and - are great for this)

This is a good question. The analog sampling is real-time and hardware controlled regardless of whether or not you are doing hardware analyzing. You are not at risk for missing any data points or affecting the sampling speed. If your computer is not fast enough to analyze the data as it comes in, you could stream the data to disk for analyzation once the acquisition is through. You will know the computer is not fast enough if you got a buffer error during the acquisition. Basically, you are not compromising the quality of data at all. It will just take longer to get results.

  • One third octave alaysis

    Hello everybody.
First, I'm sorry for my bad english. Hope everybody understands!
I'm studying vibration analysis, and I need to use an already measured data (acceleration in g/ time in seconds) to compare with the vibration criteria curves (picture below).
Note that the VC curves axis are Vrms (um/s) X 1/3 octave band Frequency (Hz). Well, I am able to do some integration of my raw data and get the values in velocity X time.
If I use a FFT, I can go to frequency domain. But I don´t know how to express my data using this 1/3 octave band.
I would appreciate a lot if someone could help me!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Henrique,
To have a function to do 1/3 Octave analisys direct you need have installed LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite.

  • Third octave analysis giving very close but in accurate results

I am having troubles with 1/3 octave analysis. I have recorded a calibration tone of 94 dB in B&K Pulse and exported a time series that is Pa values, an AC signal of 1.414 peaks over a time period of 15s.
When loading this CSV file and passing through the third octave module I get 94.6 dB at 1kHz and overall sound pressure of 94.6 dB. However the Labview output, especially in the lower bands, of the third octave anaysis are up to 10 dB out from the pulse measurement.
The settings, averaging type (linear), weighting (linear) are the same and yet the values of the thrid octave output are very slightly different. I can provide code and the Pulse output - i wonder if anyone else has has similar problems?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks Greg

    Hello Greg,
I cannot say that I have seen a similar problem.  Which version of LabVIEW are you using?  Which Sound and Vibration option have you installed?
There are several examples that ship with LabVIEW for Octave analysis.  Did you start with one of the examples from Example Finder to build your application, or have you created one entirely on your own?
Providing the code would be helpful.  Please post the smallest piece of code that can be used to replicate the issue.
