OCZ Goliath 2 SE too heavy for m/b?

Hi all,
has anybody had any problems with this heatsink?
This is the heaviest heatsink ive ever held.
Are the stories about heatsinks ripping out cpu's true?
This is going to be coupled with a delta 80mm on a k7t pro2-a board.

TRIM Enabler support thread:

http://www.groths.org/?p=308
I don't know that model but I would update the firmware.
I'd also let the SF controller do its think and not use TE unless you feel it is safe and the current version. That may not have always been true. SF Background GC should be enough. And wipe/reinstall if not.
As for sleep etc, hibernation is a laptop feature. And even PC BIOS have had to be updated (two PCs, Intel and Gigabyte) and until then it was an issue at times.
OWC uses SF and does not recommend TRIM for OS X.
So, what I would say is this:
When your computer has a hard freeze, it needs you to act/react accordingly:
Safe Boot at minimum to clean up and attempt to repair its directory.
Not sure why or what but that can happen to anyone almost and may not even be SSD related.
I'd keep the drive, check back OCZ and firmware, talk to others on the MacRumors and Groths.
note: I reformat drives regularly, couple times a year, replace system drive also, and it is the amount of writes and I/O your SSD has to handle, not years. Even DVDs don't last two decades.

  • Def Tech 1000 too heavy for mount

I just got around to hanging my 2 front speakers (Definitive Technology 1000s) and it seems as though they are too heavy for the mounts I bought (Def Tech Pro Mount 80). The speakers fall forward. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

    Hey Prince,
I double-checked with Definitive Technology’s website, but it doesn’t appear that the ProMount 80 was designed to support ProMonitor 1000 speakers. In fact, the only accessory that was listed as being compatible was the ProStand 100/200/1000. For additional information though you may want to give Definitive Technology a call at 1-(800)-228-7148. A support rep should be able to provide you some basic troubleshooting support, as well as confirm whether or not you purchased the correct wall mount.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • I5 27" too heavy for its mount?

I notice that my 27" i5 steadily creeps down to a perfectly vertical position over the course of a day or two. I'd like to keep it turned slightly upward, like I did with my 24", but so far, it doesn't want to stay. Anyone else experiencing this?

    HI,
That should not happen. Even if you didn't get AppleCare, contact them regardless.

  • Regexp_replace - too heavy?

I've got code for extracting numbers from varchar2 column:
    with t1 as (
select 1 as acode, '100,00' as avalue from dual union all
select 2 as acode, '100.00' as avalue from dual union all

    select acode, nvl(abs(regexp_replace(replace(avalue,',','.'),'[^1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,.,]')),0) as avalue
from t1After few weeks of using we received complain, the Customer said that "sometimes" the procedure works too long. He said, it always works about two minutes, but "sometimes" it can work more than 24 hours! He investigated the issue and decided that the problem is regexp_replace (it's too heavy).
    Could you please:
    1) explain to me is it true that regexp_replace is too heavy
    2) give me solution how do I receive the same result without regexp_replace.
Actually, I'm not trying to prove that regexp_replace is normal. It's a pity, but I can't discuss the issue with the Customer. I'm just trying to understand details for myself.

  • Videos too heavy after conversion (Zen V Pl

Hi everybody. I bought a MP3 Player Zen V plus. My problem is that I have to convert the videos before to put them on the MP3 Player. But after conversion, the videos become too heavy, so that I can't by example put a divx movie on the player (If a divx movie is 600 mo before conversion, he is 2 go after conversion.)Can anyone help me ?Thanks. PS : Sorry if my english is bad, I am french and that's difficult for me.

Sorry, I should have included an English version as well.....it basically says try PocketDivx (my preference) or SuperC. I forgot the Zen V Plus uses a uncompressed AVI....the direct copy?option within PocketDivx may work....may not. ---------------- - As HHS points out, the Zen V Plus uses a uncompressed AVI format. If you try PocketDivx, in the advance options, there is a option to direct copy the video and audio stream...this may work. Comme HHS fait remarquer, le V zen Plus utilise un format de AVI sans compression. Si vous essayez PocketDivx, dans les options d'avance, il y a une option pour diriger la copie le vid?o et le ruisseau audio. ..this peut travailler.Message Edited by Locknar on 04-20-200707:4 PM

  • Too heavy photos

i want to email come photos but they are too heavy over 2 MB and I can't sent them...

You have a couple of options, if you're using Apple's Mail program:
    - If you click the Email button, iPhoto asks you what size you want to email, and if you pick a smaller size the file sizes will be smaller
    - If you start an email message and drop the photos into it, Mail has a small menu at the bottom of the window where you can choose Actual size or three other sizes. The file size gets reduced according to what you pick.
The first option works for other recognized email clients like Entourage too.
If you're using a web-based email program, choose Export from the File menu, pick a size to restrict to, and export the pictures to the desktop. From your web email, navigate to this folder and enclose the pictures within. Be sure that the .jpg extension is still on the photos when you export.

I want to install Mountain Lion on my 2008 iMac. My current OS is Snow Leopard 10.8.6 and there is 4GB RAM. I've heard ML may be too much for this iMac and may slow it down.  Has anyone had any problems with this upgrade?

See > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs OS X Mountain Lion requires a Mid 2007 iMac or newer, and your iMac can run Mountain Lion without any problem. 4 GB of memory are enough for Mountain Lion, but if you are going to use heavier applications, maybe you will need more RAM
Before upgrading, you must make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, and check that your applications are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • How to add a gif (animation) file to stage without making the SWF too heavy?

    Hello
I'd like to make some simple flash animation using some gif files i have on my pc. these gif files have like 20-30 frames each . eventually when i export the file to SWF it becomes too heavy (more than 1mb) ...what can i do to avoid this? i need the swf flash files to be much smaller so i can upload them to my site without making my site upload time too slow.
    thanks in advance

Without seeing your movie, I'm guessing that the best place to shave off some of the size would be to make the individual images used for the animations as small as possible. This could be done through a combination of optimizing the individual images and reducing the physical size of the images.
Another tactic is to make individual Flash movies out of each animation, then make a master Flash movie that will load in each of these individual movies at runtime. This will lower the initial wait for a large file download. The success of this tactic will rely on size of the files to be downloaded and the connection speed of your users.

  • How big is too big for swf?

I have a swf file that has audio associated with about 15 slides. We were having some problems with it downloading and the people that host our LMS (Moodle) said that some of the problems may be related to our CP4 settings. I have the preloader set to 25% and the file is about 8.6 MB. They said to us:
Usually when hand-coding a SWF I require 100% of the SWF to be loaded before the SWF begins to play.
8.6mb is large for a SWF provided via progressive download. The optimum is no more than 5mb for users with a broadband connection. That may be part of the issue.
Is 8.6 MB really too big for a swf? What is the maximum size this should be? If it is too large what else can I do to shrink the audio as I'm sure that's a great deal of what is making the file too large?
    Thanks very much,
    Whitney

    Hey Whitlowe,
I had a very similar situation.  I received a 15 MB file from a "co-worker." The course was basically a converted PowerPoint into a Captivate course.  The course had 53 pages and had heavy audio.
When I initially tried to publish it to my LMS the course took about ten minutes to load.  I’m not sure if you use another authoring tool but I used another authoring tool called "Tool Book" a SumTotal product.  I had to divide the captivate course into 8 SWF files.  I then used Toolbook as a wrapper.  The Tool Book file was 8 pages.  Because Tool Book can read each page as a different SCO, the SWF files loaded one at a time.
For future courses, I am looking at getting a streaming server.  I can house my audio on the server.  The course would launch as a shell but would link to a streaming server for the audio/video.  Not only will this improve load time but decrease my space on the LMS.  I am looking into this option and not positive what the results will be, but I thought I would throw it out there.
That is the only solution I currently know of. I’m carious of any other solutions as well.
    Good luck.

  • I have a 500 GB hard drive and a 1TB Time Capsule running on a MacBook Pro.  It was all working well until the MacBook went in for a repair a week or so ago.  Since then, TC will not perform a backup;  instead, it says the backup is too large for the disk

Since having my MacBook Pro repaired (for a video problem) Time Capsule returns the following message:  "This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 428.08 GB but only 192.14 GB are available."
I notice that there is also a new sparse bundle.
Since TC has my ONLY backup (going back about 4 years) I am reluctant to wipe it and start over fresh as I am afraid of losing files.
Is there a way of dealing with this?
I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8

The repair shop likely replaced a major circuit board on your MacBook Pro, so Time Machine thinks that you have a "new" computer and it wants to make a new complete backup of your Mac.
You are going to have to make a decision to either add another new Time Capsule....or USB drive to your existing Time Capsule....and in effect start over with a new backup of your Mac and then move forward again.
For "most" users, I think this is probably the best plan because you preserve all your old backups in case you need them at some point, and you start over again with a new Time Capsule so you have plenty of room for years of new backups.
Or, as you have mentioned, you have the option of erasing the Time Capsule drive and starting all over again. The upside is that you start over and have plenty of room for new backups. The downside is that you lose years of backups.
Another option....trying to manually delete old backups individually....is tricky business....and very time consuming. To get an idea of what is involved here, study this FAQ by Pondini, our resident Time Capsule and Time Machine expert on the Community Support area. In particular, study the pink box.
    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/12.html
Once you look through this, I think you may agree that this type of surgery is not for the faint of heart.  I would suggest that you consider this only if one of the other options just cannot work for you.
