ODBC 8.1.6.2 availability?

Is there anywhere to get the schedule for release / posting of ODBC driver updates? When using ODBC 8 driver through a DB Link I get an ORA-2041 which is anticipated to be fixed in 8.1.6.2.
TIA, JOhn D.

Note that the 8.1.6.2 and 8.1.6.3 drivers have already been released and are available for download as is the 8.1.7.2 driver. I'm not sure which bug you're referring to, but you might try downloading these updated drivers.

  • ODBC Driver installed, but not available

    Hello,
i have installed 32bit ODBC Instant Client (instantclient-odbc-nt-11.2.0.4.0) on a Windows 7 64bit system. Installation suceeds without any errors,
but the Driver is not available as a ODBC Datasource (odbcad32). Path to Instant Client is set in the Environment Variable.
    Best regards,
    Torsten

    Hi Torsten
instantclient-odbc-nt-11.2.0.4.0 is 32-bit driver it will be available in c:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
Note: The names are in reverse i.e. for 32 bit odbc, you search in SysWOW64 and for 64 bit you search in System32. This is as designed by Microsoft.

  • ODBC driver

Where would I find a copy of the Oracle ODBC driver version 9.2.0.5.4 for Windows as I need to test an application with this version ??

Hmmm... 9.2.0.6.5 is the only version of the 9.2 Oracle ODBC driver that's currently available for download from OTN. If you have a support contract with Oracle, you should be able to log a TAR with Metalink to get the older driver. Otherwise, the application vendor may be able to provide you with the supported driver.

  • OWB connection to teradata through ODBC driver

    Hi:
I am seeking answers to my OWB connection settings. I have installed OWB 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003 server. The Oracle 10g database is on the same server. Right now, I want to configure ODBC connection for OWB to source database (all on teradata) on my windows 2003 server. However, I found from control panel
/Adminstrative tool/Data source (ODBC), there is no teradata driver in ODBC administrator. (It is available on windows XP). How can I solve this problem?
OWB perform ETL workflow through OWB server and source database. The connection between OWB server and source database must be set up. If no teradata ODBC driver, is there any other way to work around. Or should I update windows 2003 server to patch teradata ODBC driver to it? Please give me your idea and your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

  • Can't see my tables in ODBC

When I create tables from SQL+, these do not appear in the ODBC driver. I am logged in as "System"/"Manager". If I log into SQL+ using the demo user "Scott"/"Tiger", and create the tables in the demo db, then they are visible. I need to set some permissions on my db? Can't find anything about it in the online help.

    1) Yes, I can insert and select records in the tables using SQL+. Do I need to "commit" them further? Don't suppose so...
    2) When I log on to ODBC as scott/tiger, I can see the exact same tables as I can using system/manager, and that is the system tables, the demo tables and "SCOTT" tables, including the ones I created as scott/tiger. But I still cannot find the tables created as system/manager.
    3) I am using MsAccess 2000. When you connect to an ODBC driver, it lists the available tables for selection.

  • Can't get Microsoft FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i

After considerble discussion in the microsoft.public.frontpage.client newsgroup (subject: "Database | Results ... won't ... through Oracle ODBC"), we had to give up and conclude that there didn't seem to be a straightforward way to connect to Oracle 9.2i via the FrontPage database wizard.
I tried a system Oracle ODBC DSN via MS Access and it worked; but, ` can't get the same DSN to work from FrontPage. From FrontPage it generates a user/password error, though the same user/password works from MS Access.
I tried an OLEDB connection and still received the following:
Server error: Unable to connect to a database from the web server using the
    connection string 'Provider=MSDAORA; PWD=myPwd; UID=Administrator; Data
    Source=glOdb.mikecoughlin.net'.
The following error message comes from the database driver software; it may
appear in a different language depending on how the driver is configured.
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
    Number: -2147217843 (0x80040e4d)
I'm certain that this user/password combination is valid e.g. it works in Enterprise Manager to view tables etc.
    So, my question is:
Does anyone have a/the workaround to use FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i ?

    Hi,
You are hitting a known problem with the MySQL ODBC driver and 10g HSODBC which is discussed in this note on My Oracle Support -
Problems Selecting Mysql Blob Data Using Hsodbc - Error In Your SQL Syntax          (Doc ID 739274.1)
    There are 3 workrounds -
    a) convert the affected column to a char or varchar column in MySQL.
    b) use the Openlink ODBC driver. This is available from -
    http://download.openlinksw.com/
    c) create a view in MySQL which uses the 'CAST' function to convert the affected column to char. As an
    example for a BLOB -
    create view test_blob_v as select col1, cast(col2 as char) as col2 from test_blob ;
Then select from the view in Oracle -
    select * from test_blob_v@mysql ;
    ========
If you are using 10g HSODBC you should migrate to 11g Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) as 10g HSODBC is now desupported and DG4ODBC is the replacement product.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • INSERT into Oracle table as SELECT from MS Access table

I'm trying to pull some data across from an MS Access database. I really need to pick and choose what is coming across, so migration isn't what I need. I can connect to the Access DB from SQL Developer, export data and so forth. However, I can't seem to find a way to directly access data in the MDB file from an Oracle connection. The two options that I can think of which would be perfect (if they are possible) are:
    1. If it's possible to SELECT between two open connections in SQL Developer. I can (and have) had both my Oracle conection where I want the data to go and the source Access connection opened simultaneously, but I can't see any way to address a query from one connection to another.
    2. If it's possible to create the equivalent of a database link to the Access MDB file from within my Oracle database so that I can address the query via that.
Right now I'm exporting individual tables from Access to files, then doing a bunch of Search and Replace operations to convert them to SQL scripts with INSERT statements in the format required, then running those scripts in my Oracle connection. It works, but is very slow and tedious.

You need to create a database link based on Database Gateway for ODBC. This gateway allows you to connect from an Oracle database to a foreign data store using a 3rd party ODBC driver.
A suitable 3rd party ODBC driver which allows you to connect from Oracle to MS Access is the ODBC driver from Microsoft available on Windows platforms - I'm not aware of any 3rd party ODBC driver for MS Access available on Unix platforms.
So when using DG4ODBC on Windows you can connect from your Oracle database (even when the database resides on Unix) to DG4ODBC on Windows which then connects to the Ms Access database using the MS Access ODBC driver.
There's a separate Forum for those configs:

  • Oracle to connect MySQL

    Dear All,
from couple of days I am trying to connect mysql from my oracle database.
I have studied so many documentations and have created one of my own. I am just struck at one point.
My oracle database is 11gR1 and CentOS 5.1 32-bit is the operating system.
MySQL is on a windows based machine and version is 5.1.
    What I can do:
I can connect MySQL from Linux using the command: isql –v bssdata <user> <password> [Connected]
I can tnsping the listener using command: tnsping bssdata [OK]
But after setting up what i did in the documentation below when I try to connect mysql using a DB link. It gives the following error:

    Hi ,
i am facing the same issue.
These are my findings at this moment.
By looking at http://www.pythian.com/news/1554/how-to-access-mysql-from-oracle-with-odbc-and-sql/ we can see that :
"Connector ODBC 5.1. The Oracle Gateway for ODBC checks/relies on some features, such as the ODBC descriptor, that are not available in 3.51. You can check the associated documentation and bug 32692 for some details about SQLSetDescRec"
So we have a bug related to SQLSetDescRec missing from the libmyodbc3.so library.
We can check this as follows :
    [oracle@log]$ nm -D /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so | fgrep SQLMoreResults
    0000000000017c70 T SQLMoreResults
    [oracle@log]$ nm -D /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so | fgrep SQLSetEnvAttr
    0000000000016c40 T SQLSetEnvAttr
    [oracle@log]$ nm -D /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3.so | fgrep SQLSetDescRec
    No output for SQLSetDescRec.
Now i have to see how can i get over this bug.

    George

  • Step By Step To Import Excel Spreadsheet Into SQL Server & Save Package

Can someone provide a link or detail how to do this for me?  There are several options some of which I have no clue what do that I would like to understand so thought I would ask someone with more experience for a step by step.  Dumb it down
    for a dumby.

SSIS is certianly one option, but you don't NEED to use SSIS for this.  please see these links.

There are many options available to you as well.  Let me know if you need some more ideas of how to do what you are proposing to do.
Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

    Hi
we have a oracle database version 11.2.0.1

    Hi Joe,
yes it is possible. All you need is a suitable ODBC driver and the Database Gateway for ODBC.
There are documents available within the Oracle Support knowledge base (htp://support.oracle.com). As you didn't specify your preferred platform here a list of possible notes:

  • JdbcOdbc crashes

I'm developing an data extraction software with Jdk 1.6.03. I use various odbc driver. Some drivers are very primitive.
With older drivers odbc (french database engin drivers, like Hyper File or OpenCriteria), JVM crashes after an hour or less. The point of crashes is not always the same. I added the dumped crashe files at the end.
I tried to run it in interpreted mode (-Xint), but the crashes persist. Can you help me to identify the problem and to fix it.

    Hi,
You could consider using the OpenLink JDBC to ODBC Bridge Driver which is available in two versions (Single-tier and Multi-tier) --
    http://uda.openlinksw.com/jdbc/st/
    http://uda.openlinksw.com/jdbc/mt/
These drivers principally works the same with the exception that the Multi-tier driver introduces its own networking layer offering remote connections to ODBC drivers that do not have this capability.
You can download a 15 day time restricted evaluation of either of these drivers from http://download.openlinksw.com
If you experience any problems during your evaluation then you should visit - http://support.openlinksw.com/support/suppindx.vsp - and create an online support case for the issue?
There you will be able to provide detailed product, platform, problem information etc.
You will be assigned a Support Consultant and be allocated a unique support case reference number with which you can track the progress of the support case.
This will allow us to deal with the support case much more efficiently.
I hope this information is of some use.

  • 10.2.0.3 client for windows

Is there a 10.2.0.3 client for 32-bit windows? I see 10.2.0.1 on download page and a 10.2.0.3 for vista.
    Thanks

    <snip>
you'll need to access to metalink and download the patchset 10.2.0.3.Nicolas or anybody else who might know,
To make a long story short, on my Windows XP service pack 2 client I had downloaded the latest Oracle Migration Workbench, which requires ODBC drivers which are only available on OTN for the Oracle Client versions 10.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.3. OTN only has the 10.2.0.1 version of the Client available for download.
I was trying to patch the Oracle Client from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 and couldn't find an actual patchset for the Client. I found on MetaLink a 10.2.0.3 patchset for the Database Server (all 853 MB of it), but when I expanded through that looking for the Client patches, the directory that specifies the Oracle Client was empty.
Any ideas? I searched through the MetaLink for anything that could possibly be the right file, but fell short.
    Thanks,
    Kevin Ferlazzo
