ODBC Auto Connection

Hi ,
I have a question about the ODBC Connection.
As you know in order to use an Access data base you need to create a user DSN that will make the data base connection....
When I'm making a CVI software and later build a distribution of my soft I want to do the connection automatically in the install any idea's how can I do that ?

Hi,
There is function SQLConfigDataSource , but i do not have any experience with this function.
Instead i use SQLDriverConnect which do not use DSN name but connection string.
Example for FireBird Conection string:
"Driver={Firebird/InterBase(r) driver};Uid=UserName;Pwd=Password;DbName=c:\path\database.fdb";
good list of connection string is on http://www.connectionstrings.com/
i hope this help

    Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".

use apple+k to connect to the share, enter the share name as:

keychain should remember the password for you.

  • Macbook Pro no longer auto-connects to preferred network

    The title says it.
While my computer connects automatically to some (maybe all but one) of my preferred networks, it now does not connect, annoyingly, to the one I use the most often (let's call it NET).
I've triple checked that it's preferred and should connect automatically, and the computer remembers the password, so that if I manually select NET, it connects no problem. But:
    a) It won't auto-connect to NET, and
    b) If I turn my computer on, when it presents the list of networks to me, I have to wait for it to reload the list, cause if I click on NET originally, it doesn't connect, and I have to refresh the list and try again.
    c) Figured that might mean that it's just taking longer to load the networks and is showing me a list before it's actually picked up on the networks, but waiting forever doesn't make it autoconnect; it just refreshes the list.
Any ideas? This is a huge pain.

No idea. You could try deleting the file
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    ... and restart your Mac.
To find that file quickly, select the above path (triple-click the line), control-click to bring up the contextual menu, and select Services > Reveal. Drag that file to the Desktop, or directly to the Trash.
This will completely erase your AirPort network preferences, requiring that you select your Wi-Fi network and authenticate again.
What OS X version are you using, and are you using an Apple AirPort Base Station, or a third party product?

  • No auto-connect on start-up or restart (iMac)

Just an update on my problem. I too had problems with auto-connect to my network router after sleep, due to download of update 10.7.3. Worked with Apple Tech Support and local Apple Store to resolve problem - Tech Support representative and FAQ contributors alerted me to the availability of latest WIFI Update, which I downloaded and installed. Update DID resolve auto-connect problem for my system's "awake-from-sleep" mode, BUT it then began a SPORADIC no-connect problem upon startup and restart. I've reported this problem to the Tech Support representative, and she said she would alert the appropriate system teams of this problem.
I'm no software expert, but I believe the problem may be tied, in some way, to that part of the OS that triggers not only network card drivers, but also Bluetooth connectivity, clock activation, and any other sub-system icon displayed in the upper-right corner of the desktop. While I can manually connect to the network, and have the connection work without dropping, it will NOT connect automatically - sometimes - upon startup and restart. It WILL work automatically upon awaking from sleep. It tries to find the network signal during startup/restart, but doesn't always connect.
I'm thinking that if it was the drivers, themselves, for the network card that were, in some way, corrupt or incorrect, the system wouldn't connect at all ... (???)
Anyway, it's working a little better - but it's still not fully-operable; and I'm still looking for a permanent fix from Apple. I have a feeling that one of the reasons why Apple is bringing-out Mountain Lion so soon after Lion's advent is to possibly resolve some of the problems and "quirks" folks are having with Lion. I know I've experienced other little problems since upgrading to Lion that I'm simply living with, knowing that sooner or later, a fix will be forthcoming - either by patch, update, or a new OS ...

Some additional input - Just received a call from "John", Apple Tech Support, asking me to do two things in an attempt to resolve my connectivity issues.
    (1) Upon start-up, wait a minute or two to see if the network finally locks-in automatically, vice manually selecting the network connection. There may be some "priorities" being addressed via the OS wrt/ Bluetooth connections for the keyboard and mouse, that may prevent a faster lock-on by the network components. He says this sometimes manifests itself upon start-up and occasionally on restarts for some systems. It may be that, for some system configurations, Bluetooth components experience some minor interference from telephone systems or routers placed adjacent to these component locations - and since these components have "priority", system-wise, it may further delay network connectivity as well.
    (2) Drag-out an old USB keyboard (and mouse), disable your Bluetooth access, and use them in place of the wireless keyboard and mouse to see if it results in a more-positive result for network connectivity upon start-up and restart.
Naturally, I'll give it a try, and see how it works. Told John I'd let him and Josie (another Apple Tech Support representative) know how it's working in a couple of weeks.
Really appreciated his call - very nice of him to follow-up. I'll let you-all know how it works ...

  • TS1398 Since I upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 my phone will not auto-connect to the home WiFi network.

I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2 and now my phone will not auto-connect to the home wifi network.  Each time I leave and return to within range of the network I have to remember to manually connect, otherwise it continues to use 4G for data.  The credentials are saved (all I have to do is tap it to connect) but just won't happen automatically any more.
Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Tried the reset multiple times. No go. Before the IOS 7.0,2 update my devices were connecting to home WIFI eventually.

  • Iphone 4s cannot auto connect to home wifi after updating to ios 6.1.2

My iphone 4s will not auto connect to my home wifi after updating to IOS 6.1.2.  I can manually connect to my phone to wifi but it will get disconnect if I'mnot using the phone. Any way to reslove?

Once the phone goes into sleep mode, it is supposed to auto disconnect from wifi to save battery. Are you saying that once you wake the phone up it will not auto connect at that time?
Suggest you try and forget the network, then go in and try the reset network settings again and then try to rediscover the network and connect again. Have you tried to do a reset of the phone, but holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release?

  • MacBook no longer auto-connects to network after 10.4.8

I have a MacBook and use Airport to connect to my wireless router. It always used to auto-connect to my router upon booting up. Now that I've installed the 10.4.8 update, it no longer connects automatically. I have to click on the Airport icon on the toolbar and select my network; only then will it connect.
I have already read this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304482
and followed its directions, but it did not solve the problem.
(Incidentally, I do not use WPA2, just WPA Personal.)
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    From http://www.macsonly.com/ , today
    not tested :
After we tested the latest Mac OS X update, v10.4.8, on our 2.33GHz 24" iMac Core 2 Duo, we added another user account for the long-term tester. But after a restart or cold start, the iMac would reconnect to our AirPort network but it would get assigned an internal IP address rather than one from our router so it would not connect to the internet.
This problem could be temporarily solved by using the AirPort menu icon to turn off and then turn back on the AirPort card. This was frustrating because the original user account on our iMac continued to connect automatically to the network and internet after a restart or sleep as did all of our other Macs upgraded to 10.4.8.
We tried everything listed by Apple in its technical support articles (e.g. Article Number 304482) and provided on other Web sites, including deleting the preferred network in the System Preferences Network pane and re-adding it. We even tried deleting every AirPort-related preference ".plist" file including the "Networkinterface.plist" as recommended on another Web site yesterday. Nothing worked.
Then we tried a variation on Apple's suggestion and it worked. Here are the steps:
Open System Preferences, select the Network pane and select AirPort in the "Show:" popup menu.
Set the "By default, join:" popup menu to "Preferred networks."
Delete the listed preferred networks using the "-" button but this time we did not add it back again with the "+" button as Apple recommends.
Set the "By default, join:" popup menu to "Automatic."
    Restart.
Manually rejoin the AirPort network using the AirPort menu icon, i.e. selecting the network (or selecting "Other" and typing in the network name if hidden) and typing in the WPA (or WEP) password.
Now every time we restart our iMac, it automatically connects again to the AirPort network and gets an IP address assigned by the router so that it also connects to the internet. [Bill Fox]

  • Automatically create ODBC DSN connection with special port and password. Add-OdbcDsn cmdlet

    Hi,
I first posted a question in the SQL forum but I'm posting it here instead because its a Powershell question.
In a non-persitent VDI enviroment we are trying to automatically create a ODBC DSN connection to a SQL server.
We are using Windows 8.1 so we also have Powershell 4 together with the add-odbcdsn cmdlet.
But when trying to add set -SetPropertyValue for network port different than default and a password we get an error.
    here is the command:
Add-OdbcDsn -Name test -DriverName "SQL Server" -DsnType User -SetPropertyValue @("PWD=test", "SERVER=10.0.0.1")
and here is the error message:

    Hi Primeid,
Agree with Jrv, we cannot store  UID and PWD in an ODBC datasource, For example, you can create a DSN using the user interface but if you look at the DSN stored in the registry the UID and PWD are not stored.
ODBC it is always required when you connect using a DSN that the caller supply UID and PWD if they want to use standard login during connection time.
These similar discussion are for your reference:

    Client fails for not-integrated authentication
is user name and password required in ODBC admin / User DSN?
In addition, to read data from a SQL Server database using an ODBC DSN with SQL Authentication via powershell, please refer to this script:

  • ODBC (RDO) Connection Information : DataBase Server ID Greyed out

    Post Author: Eany
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
When I select the refresh option (Crystal XI) for a report which previously worked fine, I get sent to the ODBC (RDO) connection Information screen.
The first box for Server ID is greyed out.
When I go to enter the password, I get
    Login Failed
HY000 General Error : Invalid file dsn  Database Vendor Error 556.
But If I then create a new report, selecting the same dsn as was used for the report above, there is no problem.

    Hi Thib,
It won't work, WEB servers do not allow you to "Browse" their folder structures directly. You could how ever create a WEB Service to do this, it does the querying for you and then passes the data back. You'll have to search the WEB for more info on how to create a WEB Service and then check with your security guys if this is something you want to do.
Bottom line is ODBC or native or OLE DB is not going to work. And if you do open it up so you could it would be a major security hole for anyone to get to.
Other options are to create a VPN server so you can remotely connect to the server and get direct access to the table.
There are other options also, what you want to do is not doable.
You did not say why you want to do this? Add more info and someone may have a suggestion for you.
Major DB's like Oracle, MS SQL Server and others allow this to work through their clients so you may want to look at that option also.
    Thank you

  • Airplay Auto-connect to Apple TV?

Is it possible to have my Mac (running Mavericks) to auto-connect to my Apple TV?
I use my Apple TV to extend my iMac display. However in the morning, I have to turn on my TV, turn on the Apple TV, log into my Mac and then manually connect to the Airplay display. Is there some way to simplify this process and tell it to default to a particular ATV connection when I log in?

I just upgraded my 2014 Retina MacBook Pro to Yosemite, and was hoping now that Yosemite support PeerToPeer streaming to my ATV, that it might also allow me to auto connect. Well it didn't happen automatically. Does anybody know if there's a setting somewhere to enable this, or if this is even realistic possibility based on how AirPlay works?

  • Airport won't auto connect to my router, connects to the neighbors regularl

    Hey,
Every time I close my computer it logs off of the internet, which bugs me. Additionally when I open the computer back up instead of auto connecting to my internet, it connects to the neighbors internet titled Lynksis.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve these problems? thanks!
    Kristian

    Kristian,
Rob has it mostly right, but you might not see just what he indicated. Once you see the "Airport" pane, you will see a pull-down menu in the body of the window (the "By default, join:" menu). This pull-down will read either "Automatic" or "Preferred networks." Only if it shows "Preferred networks" will you see the actual list of networks you have allowed your Mac to join. By changing the menu to read "Preferred," you can see and edit the list.
My recommendation is to get to the list, make your changes (which should amount to removing the "Linksys" network, plus any other generically-named networks you find), then change the pull-down to "Automatic." Using the options in this manner will do the most to reduce the chances of you having to adjust things manually on a regular basis.

  • Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect/

Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect? If I turn it off in Windows Settings I can not get service. As I am on a 5 GB plan I do not want my internet running at all times nor do I want o have to disconnect from the internet every time I turn my computer on.

        mebpapa,
Hmm. That is a bit conflicting. After all, we don't want you to have to worry about usage running up or having to get disconnected each time you get on the computer. Ultimately, this is a software functionality of Windows 8.1 however. Have you noticed a high increase of usage when the auto connect is left on or are you just taking precautionary measures?

  • Crystal Reports and ODBC (RDO) connection

    Hi,
I'm using SQL Server 2005 and Crystal Reports 2008. I connected my Crystal Report to the SQL database using an ODBC (RDO) connection. In the past I was able to add a field to a table in the database, and I was able to see the new field immediately in Crystal Reports.
Now, when I add a new field to a table in the database I'm not able to see the new field and I no longer receive updates when something changes in the database. Two questions:
1)Any idea what might be causing the disconnect between the database and my report?
2)Is ODBC (RDO) the recommended connection for what I'm trying to do?

Once you connect to your DB then click on Database and Verify database. This will update the filed list in Crystal.
OLE DB is actually a better connector to use as it has more power than ODBC.
    Thank you
