ODBC Configuration for W2k

Question

Preface:
I have setup Oracle 8i on a linux box and am now trying to connect to it with ODBC. I have successfully set up the connection from a win98 client to the database. However, when I try this with a win2k client it does not work. I use the exact same settings, and it tells me that it cannot resolve the TNS name.

On the client (i.e. Win2K) machine, you need an entry in your tnsnames.ora file for the servive name you specify in the DSN setup. If you look on the working Win98 machine, you'll find an entry in the tnanames.ora file
nghast_linux01 = (whatever)
You can either copy that entry onto your Win2k machine or you can create a new entry on the Win2k machine with the Net8 Configuration Assistant.
