ODBC from 64 bits XP to 8.0 HP-Unix machine
I have an XP Pro x64 machine and I have to connect using ODBC to an HP-Unix machine where I have an Oracle 8.0 database.
I installed Oracle 8.0 client but I can't see the driver in "Administrative Tools" -> "Data Source (ODBC)".
Do I have to install a 64 bits version client? if this is true then where can I download this client from?
Thank you!
If you're running a 32 bit app, you need 32 bit odbc driver / client. If you're running a 64 bit app, you need 64 bit driver/client.
The last version of driver/client to be certified against a 806 database was 9.2, the last version to be certified again a 8.0.5 database was 8.1.7.
If you're looking in "Administrative Tools" -> "Data Source (ODBC)", you're looking at the 64 bit administrator, which will show you 64 bit drivers. To see 32 bit drivers, you need to invoke the 32 bit administrator (c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe)
Hope it helps,
Greg

OWB 10g Release 2 from 32 bit to 64 bit on Linux
Hi guys,
I have a client who is planning to migrate their Linux server from 32 bit to 64 bit and migrate their Oracle database from 10.2.0.3 from 32 bit server to 10.2.0.3 from 64 bit server.
We have OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) installed in the 32 bit server.
Our DBA is planning to move the entire database to the new server including the OWB repositories.
My question is,
Will the following work?
1. Install the OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3 or 10.2.0.4) 64 bit in the new 64 bit Linux 64 bit server
2. Remove all the OWB repository user schemas & roles from the database where OWB is installed
3. Install the OWB repository in the new 64 bit server
4. Import the .mdl backup of the project from existing OWB 32 bit to the new OWB 64 bit server
5. Configure the project with the new server
OR
Since our DBA is planning to move the entire database to the new server including the OWB repositories
1. Install the OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) 64 bit in the new 64 bit Linux 64 bit server
Will I be able to access my repository that is migrated from the 32 bit server (avoiding the installation of OWB repository and importing the project and configuring the whole project in the new server) ?
Please someone shed some light on this. Your help is appreciated
Thanks in advance....

Edited by: user528846 on Feb 11, 2010 11:59 AMDoes this mean, ... we have to install the OWB 64 bit and install a new repository in the 64 bit server? In my opinion you don't need to create new repository.
After migrating database to 64bit perform steps from Metalink note 434272.1 "How To Update Warehouse Builder 10.2 After A Database Cloning".
It is better to save the same path for new OWB 64bit software. If you install OWB into different path you need to update OWBRTPS table with new path to OWB software (look at metalink note 550271.1).

HP PSC 1315xi All in One from 32-bit XP to FULL FEATURE for 64-bit Windows 7
Switched from 32-bit XP to 64-bit Windows 7, which did not install all printing features or my scanner. Know a lot of people have this problem, can't find the forum which is exactly for this particular problem, and can't find an HP download. There are so many other companies on the HP Support pages. Might you include on your title page how to re-read this subject?
I'm afraid I'll lose my print and copy functions forever if I first Uninstall. Would checking "Add Printer" preserve my present version until after I get a successful download or maybe even a new Disk for 64-bit Windows 7? I haven't even found that yet. Thanks. [edited by Moderator]Good day AmerEagle,
I understand you have upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 64bit and are looking to install the driver and software for your PSC 1315xi. I will certainly help you!
Here is the direct link to the download for the Windows 7 full driver for your printer:

Upgrading Solaris 10 from 32-bit to 64-bit in a VirtualBox VM
Hello,
I am running 32-bit Sol 10 u5 x86 as a guest in a Sun VirtualBox (Vbox) virtual machine on a 32-bit WinXP host with 64-bit VT-capable Xeon processors, and am considering upgrading Solaris 10 to 64-bit using the latest version of Vbox (2.0.0). After installing WinXP Professional x64 and the 64-bit version of Vbox, will I have to completely re-install Sol 10 to get it to run in 64-bit, or is there some way to get it to 64-bit without a re-install? The Vbox forums suggested that I post this question on a Solaris forum, as they don't know the answer.
They apparently also do not know if Windows XP x64 is a compatible host OS on which to run 64-bit guests. They list only Vista, Linux, and OpenSolaris as supported 64-bit host OSs. Has anyone used WinXP x64 as a host for Vbox 64-bit guests? Due to policy, Vista is not available to me on my system/network.
Thank you...The x86 installer will place both 32-bit and 64-bit code on the disk.
The loader fired by GRUB will attempt to detect the proper hardware and launch the correct kernel.
Other portions of the upgrade could conceivably cause a problem, but having the CPUs go from 32-bit only to 64-bit capable shouldn't be an issue. You don't have to make any changes.

What is the recommended method to move a RAC cluster from 32 bit to 64 bit architecture with the least amount downtime. I am using NetApp for storage in a 2 node cluster.
You didn't indicate the current version. Anyways, if you are planning to move from Oracle9i to oracle10g RAC, you don't have do anything explicitly, the upgrade process would covert from 32bit and 64bit. Or, please refer to metalink note:62290.1 for pointers on the actual procedure.

Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit on Oracle 9.2.0.5
Hi guys.
I have two question for migration 32 bit to 64 (x86_64) bits on Oracle 9.2.0.5 for SAP 4.7 Enterprise?
1.- When i migrated 32 bits to 64 (x86_64) bits is necesary migrated to Oracle 10 ?
In the note SAP Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64), say that, pag 4:
" Oracle:
=====================================
On Windows Server 2003 X86_64 (64-bit), you may only use Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2) software for X86_64 (64-bit) as a database. Note 949116 describes the installation (homogenous system copy) of old products that were not originally released on Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2). If you want to make the copy using the backup/restore procedure, for which the source database was not yet upgraded to Oracle 10.2, see Note 932722"
But, in the pam matrix say that support for 9.2.
I confused for the information.
2.- In the case that is not necessary to migrate to oracle 10, i can execute the migration to 64 bits the SAP 4.7 with the procedure Backup/Restore?
I don´t have the new server, the server for the migration is the same. The procedure you want to follow is:
1.- Backup Offline all server.
2.- Delete the server, i install the server on Windows 2003 64 bits.
3.- Install SAP 4.7 on kernel 64 bits.
4.- Restore de backup offline (only data): datafiles, archive log, redo log.
Aprecciated for the help.
Best regards,
DesiréHi,
According to Note:814834
#Note that there is currently no 64-bit support for the x86_64 platform
for Oracle 9.2 because Oracle does not provide a 64-bit DB client for this purpose,
and, in addition, 64-bit operation of the DB server is not supported.
This means that this DB version can only be used in conjunction with SAP components on
Windows 32-bit on x86_64 hardware in 32-bit mode.
For more information, refer to the "Oracle" section in the note.
Furthermore, it states 32bit SAP instance can connect ot a 32 bit Oracle 9.2 or 10.2 database instance.
So for your case, its better to upgrade your current database to Oracle 10.2 and then proceed with migration. -

If you change the image mode of this image from 8-bit RGB image to Grayscale
mode while in PSCS – what will the new Pixel Count be?If you mean by Pixel count the number of pixels, this will not change. The image will have the same size thus the same number of pixels.

Migrating EBS from 32-bit to 64-bit
Hi,
I have a R12 Instance(12.1.3) with 11.1.0.7 database on 32-bit Linux. Now we are planning to do a clone of the existing R12 Instance to a newly created 64-bit Linux server. So i would like to know the steps involved in migrating the E-Business Suite from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Regards,
Vineel.CI had gone through the Metalink Note[471566.1] which you had sent me. It was useful but internally it had referred to another Note:762669.1 which says in Migrate from Linux 32-bit to Linux 64-bit
h.Upgrade the database from 32-bit to 64-bit (recompile pl/sql modules and change the word size) by running $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql. Refer to the usage and notes sections in the script for instructions on how to run it.
But in general utlrp.sql is used for compiling Invalid objects.
Can you elaborate on this.Because of the word size change (from 32-bit to 64-bit), the database objects will be invalidated and you need to run utlrp.sql script to compile them.
Difference between UTLRP.SQL - UTLIRP.SQL - UTLIP.SQL? [ID 272322.1]
Changing between 32-bit and 64-bit Word Sizes [ID 62290.1] -- Step 16. Run utlirp.sql

Migrating from 32 bit server to 64 bit server
Hi
We have planned to migrate our portal server from 32 bit to 64 bit.
I need your help in identifying the tasks to be performed after the migration.
Migration will be done by a BASIS consultant.
My job would be to make sure that portal is up and running with all the settings same as it is on the 32 bit old server.
We are operating on EP 7.0 (2004s) SPS 13.
We are using LDAP for internal users and UME for external users.
EP system is connected to R/3 4.7 and BI 7.0 systems.
New system will have different IP address and logical name but same SID.
It would be great if I get the url of the help links and documentation.
Regards
Vineet VikramVineet,
Itu2019s difficult to identity all tasks you need because itu2019s depends of your scenario.
But basically you can check:
u2022 UME configuration (configuration, SSL, XML, security policies)
u2022 KM configuration (repository, crawlers, indexes, channels, system, ACL cache, search options)
u2022 Collaboration configuration
u2022 XML form filter
u2022 Anonymous users
u2022 Central portal configuration
u2022 Guided Procedures
u2022 Rule Collection
u2022 Data sources JDBC
u2022 ICE Protocol
u2022 Custom login page
u2022 Group x User x Role association
u2022 PAR and EPA transports
u2022 Web Dynpro applications
u2022 SLD check
Your basis consultant must pay attention some notes:
Note 1024539 - Recommended Settings for NW04 >= SP14, NW 7.0 >= SP6 on AIX
Note 1024700 - Installation/Upgrade information for NW04/NW 7.0 on AIX
