Odd circumstances re:system restore, and updated iTunes
I've always ran iTunes perfectly fine, but I recently updated it, but ran into other problems with software I installed later... suffice it to say, I had to restore to a time before I updated iTunes to get my other programs running. After that, I was unable to run iTunes.. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled many times, and I get this error when it finishes installing..
" Error signature AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 6.0.1.3 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 10001040 "
Along with a crash window that says it needs to close. When I try and look at the technical info of the error report, it looks really really long... and I don't want to take up all that space...
Anyways, after I install, it seems like its finished, but it gives me the same error message when I attempt to open iTunes. Please Help!

that one almost always indicates a broken quicktime. try to launch your quicktime. do you get an error message?
if you can't launch your quicktime, let's try a careful standalone QT 7.0.3 install. see:

I did a complete system restore of windows XP on my computer and I thought that my itunes would be saved by apple similar to how my emails are saved by yahoo....but when I re-downloaded the itunes software, all of my itunes that I had purchased were gone! Help with Ipod, restoring, and updating Itunes!
I was trying to buy a game when it told me I had to update my Iphone software to 3.1.2. So I plugged my Ipod in, and tried to update it. It then told me I needed to update Itunes to 9.0.3 before I could update my Ipod. So I started to update Itunes when an error came up.
So I thought that maybe I didn't really need to update Itunes, so I went into the Itunes store and bought the update for my Ipod. It started to download, and then it froze. My ipod had the screen with the apple on it.
So I didn't know what to do and I looked at tech support and it said to restart your computer. So I unplugged the Ipod and restarted the computer. When the computer came back on I pugged the ipod back in and the screen said to connect to Itunes.
So I connected it to Itunes and all my information was gone! It said it detected my Ipod was in recovery mode and to restore the ipod. So I try to restore it and then it says error (1603) and won't let me restore my ipod.
I tried looking up the error and I couldn't find anything. I have no idea what I did and I'm worried I may have lost everything.
So now I can't even get my Ipod to turn on and it's my dads and he is not very happy. And I don't think he has backed it up in a while. I have uploaded an old itunes library by mistake - any way that I can go back to my previous library. Unable to do a system restore and I don't know where to find an up to date music/playlist file. I was originally trying to recover a playlist that vanished after I had updated one of the ipads, did an online search, followed the instructions only to discover that I had loaded an itunes library from 2 years ago. See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. Hopefully you have a more recent library file that you can restore.

I accidently deleted QuickTime from my computer. Then I did a system restore and retrieved the program. Now Itunes can't find QuickTime and will not open.Is there a eazy fix for this without using my Ipod? Ihave 6K songs in Itunes that I can't get to.

T-BILLHmmm. There's a couple of things that might be going on with that one.
Let's try an uninstall and reinstall of QuickTime first.
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel. Select "QuickTime", click "Change" and then click "Remove".
If you're using & or Vista, head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select QuickTime, and then click "Uninstall".
You can get QuickTime back either via Apple Software Update (in your Start menu go "All Programs > Apple Software Update" ... QuickTime should appear in the "New Programs" section), or by downloading a QuickTimeInstaller.exe from the following location:

My phone was put into recovery mode and I know that not all data is deleted it just puts the phone into a sort of hibernation in order for the files to stay uncorrupted. I went to http://www.recovery-ipad.com/iphone-stuck-in-recovery-mode.html downloaded the software it unlocked my phone in a matter of minutes. Calls, messages, photos, apps, and voicemail was all there as if it never happened If you leave it unregistered you don't have to pay for it works for either windows or mac. Hope this helps!

We have two iphones each with a different apple id - can i use the same laptop and itunes for back up, restore and updates without risking having my apps overwritten. Basically does itunes keep the two iphones as two separate entities ? Does iTunes differentiate between the two devices and keep two different SYNCs ?
Yes, you can use the same computer for BACK UPS, RESTORING AND UPDATING. But that is it.
You cannot, however, use it to sync the different devices. iTunes will only recognize one device to sync with and if you sync any other devices with that iTunes library, it will replace what is on the phone with whatever is in the library. It cannot differentiate between devices. At most, it will jsut recognize that the phone has been synced with a different iTunes library.
So if you would like to use the same computer for backing up, restoring and updating, just make sure to turn of Automatic Syncing in your iTunes Preferences. -
ok - my ipod touch is stuck on the itunes screen. Have tried shutting it off, plugging it into my windows computer, and it does recognize that it's there. it goes to restore mode, then immediately goes to restore and update. then back to restore mode, then an error message. don't know where to go from here, any suggestions?

My iPhone 5s is stuck in recovery mode and won't turn on, I've tried to restore and update it to iTunes and its finding my phone, but saying an error has occurred and won't work, the software is up to date, it just automatically switched itself off and when I try to turn it on, it shows the White background with the apple logo asif it's going to turn itself on but then switches off after a couple of seconds, what can I do? ive already taken it to a shop and he's looked at it, but said he can't fix it, thanks.

Ok I need help. I went to use my phone, put in my passcode, emergency dial came up, then the phone said I didn't have an imei #. I hit the back button and then I was told I needed to restore and update using iTunes. I tried several times to do this and my phone is still not working. It acts like it's updating, but once the bar reaches the other side of my phone, iTunes tells me there was an error. I used all the ports on my pc, changed cables, restarted my pc, and still nothing. Can anyone please help me. This phone is my life and I can't afford to get another one.
Sounds like you might need to take it to an Apple Store but if it is an iPhone 3G it would no longer be under warranty.
Looking at the Apple Store online you can get an iPhone 3GS from $49 on AT&T if it comes to having to get a new one. Your other option is second hand. -
I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.
Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod

Hi I tried to update my iPhone 5 to ios7 I followed everything it told me to do it started to verify switched its self off came up with a symbol that indicated to plug into iTunes I did that it then said restore so I pressed to restore and update a message then came up on iTunes that my iPhone is in recovery and couldn't restore I need help I don't no what to do
Just some possible solutions, try and see:
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
- Reboot your laptop.
- Clear hosts (windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts)
- Remove the iOS 7 ipsw and let iTunes download a new one (press WINDOWS KEY + R and type %appdata%, then navigate to Apple Computer/iTunes/Software Updates and remove the ipsw).
- Don't forget to close iTunes before doing these actions.
- Try a different USB port.
- Completely remove iTunes (also from registry and stuff) and re-install.
- Try on a different computer.
