Odd clicking sound from the speakers

There's a clicking sound from the speakers all the time, even when I'm not playing music. My PowerBook is only 1 week old, and I haven't dropped it or anything. Does anyone know what this is? Whenever I plug in my earphones or speakers, the sound stops.

I wish I knew. Having the same problem. Comes and goes. Presently it's happening and it BUGS. In the past I've tried disabling some of my extra scripts and software (especially extra preference panes), but you're probably not in the same boat there, having such a new machine.
Here's hoping someone has a solution!

  • Why do I have a strange clicking sound in the speakers the speakers

Yesterday I loaded some music from my son-in-law's iPod using TouchCopy-11.  I have used this program before without a problem but after using it again yesterday I now have this slow clicking coming from my speakers.  I know it is the speakers because if I mute them there are no sounds coming from the computer.
Can anyone help me with this?

    Hi Jon
just a shortcut or alias to an item that no longer exists.
Ctrl-click & use 'icon & text' & you will see a name for it, which may give a clue as to the origin. Just ctrl-click it choose 'remove item' to get rid. Or use Finder-View-Customise Toolbar to drag it off into a puff of smoke.

  • When i play a video or movie i get a buzzing sound from the speakers. how do i solve this problem?

I get this  buzzing sound from my speakers when I play a video, or movie either from the internet or playing a DVD. What can I do to solve this problem

A: There is no such thing as an unlocked iPhone 3Gs in the United States. ALL iPhone 3Gs's sold in the US are locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones, therefore it is not legitimately unlocked.
B: Sprint is a CDMA network as others have mentioned. They do NOT use SIM cards. The iPhone 3Gs will NEVER work on Sprint. Ever. It's not physically possible.
Either your Uncle misunderstood or he was mislead. Send it back and tell him to get his money back. Buy an iPhone in India from a supported carrier.

  • Connection error, and clicking sound from remote speakers

    Problem:
Remote speakers produce clicking sounds when music is streamed from AirPort. Initially iTunes does not display a connection error, but it displays the following after switching from Base Station to Multiple Speaker mode:
"An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Base Station". An unknown error occurred (-3256)"
The setup worked yesterday, and the Airport Firmware v6.3 and iTunes 6.0.5.20 are installed. I am able to use AirPort Admin Utility from my laptop to remotely change settings and restart the base station.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

So i tried few more things like disable/enable sound card, driver reinstalation, bitrate changing and everything elese i could find here on forums or on the net (pretty much same stuff like here could be find on internet) and strange thing is that no one have same or similar problem like me... i just don't know anymore what to do...

  • [Canada] iPhone Camera Defective + Clicking Sound from the glass

    Hi
I just bought my iPhone 4 yesterday at my local Telus location. Everything seemed very perfect right until a few hours ago. I began to notice the camera app crashing (I would get the grey thing that shows before you see what the lens is looking at) and it would get stuck there until I exited and reopened.
I thought just restoring would fix it. Before I got home from work, I also began to notice that the back glass was 'clicking'. I can just put a little pressure in the middle and I hear a quite loud 'click'. It seems to me like the glue didn't dry well or something like that.
Then the camera stopped working completely. That grey thing will not go away. Tried a hard reset. No luck. Restored from backup, no luck. Restored from scratch, no luck.
I downloaded a Flashlight app before the problems started happening, which allowed me to open up the LED flash. Once those problems started happening, I couldn't get the flash to work anymore. The app would completely bug, then it work un-freeze, the flash would light up, and then the app would re-freeze and the flash would go dark again.
What do I do ? I payed full price for the phone, so I don't mind going back to Telus for a refund, and then going back to the Apple Store and buying it unlocked (again at full price). Could I just go to the Apple Store directly ? If they replace my unit, will they give it to me unlocked, or will they lock it back to Telus.
    Thank you very much

Seems you need to cancel your Telus contract if you want to go unlocked. I'd do the former at Telus then Apple, since I'm not sure Apple could deal with canceling the service contract with Telus. But best would be to call your local Apple store and ask.
BUT -- it may be your Apple store has no phones in stock for sale, but will have some units set aside to replace defective units. Since they would probably use your SIM from Telus in any replacement phone, I imagine it would be locked to that carrier.
However, this is all reasoning. Best call Apple and get the real story tomorrow.

  • Weird clicking sound from PB

This is not my week. Just replaced the harddrive on my PB due to a crashed drive. Before I changed the drive, I had this clicking noice, actually sounds like its coming from the speakers. But I do not think so, as no matter what I do with the volume it remains the same. Well, I did not really pay any attention to it as I assumed it was the faulty drive that caused it. Now when I changed the drive, ran a hardware test and all is ok and the PB is spinning on I realize the clicking noise is not gone. It seems to be coming from the right top side of the computer. Its sporadic, but, it never starts from the beginning when you fire the computer up. Seems like the computer needs to get warm first. Could it be the fan? How would I go about finding the source of this clicking sound, and is there a way to see if you have a faulty fan? Hope someone could point me in the right direction as I do not know where to go from here.
    Thanks in advance

I just plugged in a pair of earphones, and the clicking stopped. So I guess it is the speakers after all then. Is there anything I can do to make it stop? The speakers are in good condition and are not cracked or damaged by any means. Just this clicking sound from the speakers.

  • Envy laptop confused about aux jack being plugged/unplugged; no sound from internal speakers

So I was typing all normal like, didn't do anything stupid or weird, but suddenly the music I was playing through my laptop's internal speakers just stopped.
And despite nothing being plugged in the auxiliary jack, the laptop thinks something IS plugged in and doesn't play sound through the internal speakers. So no sound at all.
And on the flip side, when I plug headphones in the aux jack, the laptop says that "You have just unplugged a device from the audio jack" but then plays normally through the headphones. Internal speakers still silent.
It's like the laptop suddenly got confused in whatever component registers the auxiliary connection, but I don't understand why it still plays through the headphones when it thinks there is nothing plugged in. And also why the internal speakers don't work AT ALL.
It has Beats Audio, if that helps at all. I tried restarting, messing around with the sound settings but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing and anyways nothing has changed from that.
    Anyways, yeah, help?
This is a pretty new laptop, only about a month old.

I grasp that you have lost  sound  on the internal speakers and when you connect headphones you get the message that you disconnected the device but then plays sound through the headphones.
Here is a link to No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8) that may help to overcome this issue.
If this has not been resolved I recommend contacting HP support for assistance as the notebook is only a month old.

  • Sound in the speakers but TOTAL SILENCE in the auriculars!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi everyone,
I buy for my christmas gift a nice Lenovo 3000 N500.

I prove the auriculars and they are perfect!
Wich can be the **bleep**..... problem???
I try disable the auriculars (in the control panel), re-start the laptop and enable the auriculars again and that didn´t work.
    Someone can helpmeeee please?????

  • Problem with sound from internal speakers

I have rescued an 867 hz TiBook from the trash heap. This machine was being discarded because it wouldn't wake up (just did this red, blue, yellow flashing thing, so it had to be restarted everytime it went to sleep) and because the internal speakers had stopped working. I took off the keyboard and flashed the pram, reset everything, wiped the hard drive and installed Leopard. This seems to have fixed the sleep issue but there is still no sound from the speakers. The headphone jack works fine, the built-in mic works and there IS an option for internals as the output in prefs, so it's not the headphone jack problem I've read about. I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find a solution that works... anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Mr. Waters,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You may want to at least follow the wires back from the speakers and see that they're connected, but it's likely the sound card which is unfortunately soldered onto the logic board. If so, the repair would mean replacing the logic board, rather expensive and not easy. Still a nice find for free.

  • Early 2014 MBA clicking sound from bottom cover?

My 1 month old Macbook Air makes a clicking sound from the middle of the bottom cover when I have it in my hand, lap, or on my stomach. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Is it worth taking it in to the genius bar?
