Odd color problem, LR1.1, Mac OS X

I have LR 1.1. on a MacBook Pro. I have been trying to calibrate the monotor so that prints look the same color. When I took a picture today and imported the .nef (raw) file to the desktop and viewed it using Preview it looks the same color as the view that I have just photographed,, so presumably the monitor is calibrated correctly. But when I import it into LR it looks too brown, and I have to adjust the WB to the blue side to get it to look right. If I then take a jpeg picture with the camera, using auto-white balance and a pre-installed "Velvia" curve, it looks right in both LR and Preview. Why is that, and is there some basic setting in LR that I should be using to make the raw file look corrrect?
Thanks,
Richard

Check this
FAQ. It has nothing to do with monitor calibration but with a difference in how LR interprets RAW files vs how preview does. You might also have one of the cameras that LR does not correctly read the WB setting on.

I checked all setting of display but It's ok.
I heard that's not hardware problem because when it started, it was normal color.
What do i have to do? do i have format?

  • My Adobe Flash CS6 Color Picker has ODD colors. I'm using Mac Mini OSX 10.8.1. Is there a fix?

My Adobe Flash CS6 Color Picker has ODD colors. I'm using Mac Mini OSX 10.8.1. Is there a fix?
I click on the color picker and where I have seen the normal #0000ff blue color on my windows computer, this mac Mountain lion version shows a purple-ish color. Oddly, If I enter the hex # into the color picker, and use it as a fill, the correct color displays on the stage but when i use the eyedropper on that color, it shows it as the purple color again on the toolbar.
I've seen a similar thing like this happen when using adobe photoshop. However, the usual solution is to just make the managed color profile set to monitor RGB. The only downside with Flash is there is no preference to set that. The color palette in Adobe Photoshop displays as it should with the correct blue.
I should also note that I'm using a Samsung 941bw monitor with my mac mini which could also be part of the problem.
I figured i'd make this post anyway just in case it's the OS & Adobe Flash CS6 and not the monitor.
I've included a screenshot as well that shows that i've chosen the purple color and then made a rectangle shape on the stage and it comes out blue.
    Thanks ahead for your response(s)

Seems misleading that on the adobe site for Adobe Flash CS6 it says:
    System requirements:
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8) when installed on Intel based systems.**

  • A color problem in Apple's publishing App

I was wondering if you could help me with this problem,I really need some help, and here it is:
There is a Color problem in Mac publishing applications like Pages and Keynote, including iBooks Author, which really confuse me a lot。
When you use a certain color space(sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in this case)to create some colors with Apps like Illustrator CS6,Indesign CS6 & Photoshop CS6 etc. ,they look totally fine。BUT when you use iBooks Author (V2.0)to create the very same color with the very same color space, colors still look fine in the color panel, and here comes the problem:they look totally lousy in the actual document!!In fact, they look much lighter and faded。(See Image 1&2)
    Above:Image 1
    Above:Image 2
And this is also terrible with photos you import。(See Image 3)
    Above:Image 3
Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem。I know maybe this is some sort of “basic” and “general” knowledge, but I really need your help。And I can't thank you enough if you can provide some effective solutions。

As far as I can see,  the colour pallet and how colours are seen in any app on YOUR machine will depend on the computers System Preferences>Displays>Colour - choose your preferred setting.
I suggest first that you ensure that your colour profile settings are the same ( as your computer)  in whatever Adobe application or in fact any outside image processor you use.
Creating or using a colour profile in Adobe and having a different profile on your system - will tend  to  give different colour hues.
A point also to remember is whatever you set up and is  transferred to your product... when seen on an iPad may well be totally different again due to peculiarities and contrast / brighness setting of the iPad user.

  • Forms6i on MS Term Svr ... works fine odd color at times, trying to fathom

Yes, I know, don't tell me, it's not a supported combination. But, hey, it works. 200 users on a whiz-bang server with loads of mem / disk space, DB on another box, all reasonably well tuned, no performance issues -- and I'm not dealing with users' desktop issues anymore!!!! Yippee!!!! Used Forms5 against 9i for about 5 yrs with no problems also.
But here's the odd thing (and it occurred on the old F5/9i on WinNT Term Svr and on the new, current F6/10g Win2k TS) ...
On our "normal" local client developer boxes ... with the Developer Suite ... we've got teal-colored forms for accepting report request parameters (normal data-entry forms are dull grey), all via templates, all used for years, not a coding problem ... and these forms look fine, run fine. We put these forms on the terminal server ... and blocks on the form are suddenly this lighter teal color ... and, while they're nice even blocks, they just look ... weird.
So ... in normal local client-server mode (F6i against 10g on WinXP), no issue (and thus is not "strictly speaking" and Oracle support issue), but in F6i / 10g via Win2k3 App server, in Terminal Services mode, odd color blocks. Not a rights issue or a domain issue. If I go physically to server and run app from there directly, no issue. So the form per se isn't wrong. Different users use different resolutions for stuff, depending on their physical screen size and wish to use eyeglasses.
So ... anyone else out there in the Terminal Server user world, who has ALSO seen this odd coloration and found a way to resolve it?
I don't know that it's strictly an Oracle Forms thing ... our reports mostly convert to PDF format, and when the server serves up the Acrobat Reader output ... the navigation arrows have this weird green highlight that goes away once your mouse is held over it.
We know how to program lots of things, but not these particular ones, so "we didn't do it, honest". All clues / insights welcome, and TIA for your time. Am going to look on MS forums also.

I'm afraid I haven't all the details, but as I understand it, higher color depths actually blend colors proportionally, whereas Windows' 256-color VGA mode uses an indexed color palette.
I can only recommend that you try Googling this topic on Google Groups (http://groups.google.com), using keywords like Terminal Server and 256-color. This should point you to discussions that give a better idea of your problem, and might explain broad solutions to it, allowing you to "fix" Oracle and Acrobat with a single remedy.
As far as tweaking Oracle goes, search (again) Google on the topic of creating custom color schemes for 10g. I'll take a look myself, time permitting, and post whatever information I can find to the forum.
    Hope this helps,

  • Monitor problems imac with mac osx 10.6.3

I have tested several monitors ( dell 3008wfp and dell 22 inch monitors) with my mac mini, and everytime the same error pops up with my fotographic and medical imaging software: 24 bit colors is not available... with loss of color depth as a result.
In monitor settings only one of the two monitors is recognised but both get the background dysplayed ( and the correct name is displayed in the upper bar of the corresponding window) the large 30 inch screen the info screen says "unrecognised monitor". I can adjust the exact resolution ( max for both) and hz but not the " how many colors I want to display. Funny thing is , when i put the monitors on my macbook ( os x ver 10.5.8) also the smaller one is recognised ( with the correct name) but here I can have the selexion "millions of colors". When I use the same software on the macbook, everything is OK.
Where can I find this setting for this millions of colors thing on the mac mini?

  • Odd display problems

I run two 19" CRT monitors off my G4 QS...have for years with no problems. This morning, I arrived in my office, computer running with both monitors displaying fine, and, without touching anything, the left one went dark. I thought I might have jostled my desk and loosened the AC connection, so I shut down, checked all connections to find no problem. I restarted, only to find that my right monitor had lost its signal too. The power light on this monitor went from green (normal-on) to yellow after 10 or 15 seconds of being turned on (never seen that before).
I didn't have time to deal with this problem, and had to go home to get some work done, leaving the office computer running. Late this afternoon, I popped by the office again for 5 minutes while running errands and found the yellow light on the right monitor blinking (another "never seen before"). I turned off the power on the display, then back on, and the display actually appeared, but at a very odd resolution (sign-in screen icons were signficantly larger than I'd ever seen them), and there was a strange distorted vertical line that "zapped" on and off. Again, I didn't have time to deal with this and had to leave it.
I've done some research here at home, but still don't have a strong sense of what the problem might be. Might resetting the NVRAM do anything? Can you even reset NVRAM on a QS? Might it be a graphics card problem? If that is likely, what card would be a good replacement?
    Many thanks...

Have you tried using only one monitor?
Have you tried starting up from a CD?
You can reset NVRAM. Resetting NVRAM "fixes" some display problems. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial

  • Epson 2200 Color problem solved...I think

I have read the posts on the color problems with 10.6 and the EP 2200. I too had the same issues after installing 10.6 this evening. After much teeth grinding and some choice words I set about solving my printing problem.
The Gutenprint driver has the same problems GIMP had. It isn't really printer specific, as in all the options you once had. I would rather have no driver than have this lame piece of software automatically installed. Gutenprint will make the printer run but that's about all it will do.
    The solution is pretty easy:
    1. Open System Preferences. Click on Print and Fax
    2. Select the 2200 (or any printer giving you fits) and click the to delete the printer. Close prefs.
    3. Go to the Epson site and download the 10.4 driver, Epson 11832. Install.
    4. Also download the 10.6 updater and install.
    5. Open System Prefs>Print and Fax again.
    6. Click the and select the printer model, in my case Epson 2200.
    7. In the drop down window Select Epson SP 2200 not the Epson Stylus Photo 2200 - Gutenprint v5.2.3! The latter being a Jack of all Trades and Master of none.
    8. All the print functions reappear as expected.
Do I believe the reports of Epson dumping on the Mac market? Not a chance. Mac has the majority (well over 50% and growing) of the graphic and creative arts market. Most professional photographers I know use the Mac platform and are very enthusiastic about it. Epson couldn't afford to turn their backs on the Mac platform.
With 10.6 I did loose all my custom icc profiles from PS but not PS Lightroom. I also lost the custom monitor profile. I will re-profile my paper/ink/scanner/monitor and consider it a light hit. I'm sure I don't know why this update was so rough on the drivers. I'm also sure that there will be other pains I have yet to discover.
Is 10.6 crap? Probably not. Will I install 10.7 when it arrives? You bet! At OSX worst it is better than Gate's best!!

This is all good info, but for me at least, the real issue is not whether you can get the driver/printer to function (most people seem to be able to get it working) but when you get it functioning under Snow Leopard are there color issues.
Although the printer may work fine for basic documents etc, it is for color-critical photo work that I need my 2200. Many other posts are reporting that although the driver is functioning, there are fairly severe color issues when trying to create high-quality photographic prints using the standard color-managed workflow. This would be rather crippling for photographers and other artists who rely on their 2200.
Maybe those posting here could comment on whether they have been using their 2200 for photographic purposes and whether or not they have seen color issues. I wonder if some people just aren't noticing a problem because they aren't doing color-managed photographic work.
I haven't installed Snow Leopard yet and I'm trying to determine if this is affecting a very small percentage of people or if everyone is having trouble getting proper color from their 2200 since Snow Leopard. So far I haven't seen a single post specifically stating that they they are using the 2200 for high quality photo printing and have had no color issues under Snow Leopard.

My pointer keeps turning into a colorful spinning pinwheel. Mac OS X(10.5.8) using a wireless mouse and keyboard ,desktop computer.

The spinning wait cursor (or "beachball") generally means there's some problem that's causing the current app to freeze, or slowing down the current application, or that's slowing down the whole system.
Here's an overview of the spinning wait cursor.
Make a backup first, using the Disk Utility tool booted from your installation DVD to external storage.  This backup to ensure you still have access to your most current and complete data, shut this be a problem with your hardware.
Then use Utilities > Activity Monitor.app and the Utilities > Console.app tools to see what's going on, and whether there are related errors being logged.
There are some general troubleshooting articles around, too.

Hi again JetTheNewb, It is good to hear back from you! Since the old Hard Drive is failing, you will definitely need to obtain a new one. As I cannot recommend a specific drive, you can find a number of different models from one of the following vendors below: https://www.google.com/search?q=hard+drive&oq=hard+drive&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65l3j69i61j69i60.2447j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8 Other than the ESD, the only things to keep in mind are to: Use a Phillips head screwdriver.Turn off the computer. Disconnect the Ethernet or modem cable. Disconnect the power cord.Transfer the computer to a clean, flat, stable work surface over a noncarpeted floor. It is recommended that you put down a blanket, towel, or other soft cloth to protect the screen from scratches or other damage.Refrain from remove a component from its protective packaging until you are ready to install it.I hope this helps! Best Regards

  • Photos oddly colored in iDVD

I asked this question in the Final Cut Express forum but received no answers, so I'll try here. I have iDVD 7. I made a video in Final Cut Express, exported it as a QuickTime movie, and dropped it into iDVD, which automatically created several screens to deal with all my scene (chapter) markers.
I created a custom Theme by dropping digital photos into the backgrounds of the Scene Selection pages. The photos looked fine in both Photoshop and iDVD. These same photos were also used in parts of the video.
But when the video was burned to a DVD, many of these photos on the scene selection screens now look oddly colored, the colors overly saturated and exaggerated, for example some of the people look badly sunburned.
The odd thing is, as I said these same photos are also in the video, and they look fine there; it's only on the menu screens created by iDVD that the colors look odd.
It seems to me that iDVD is processing the colors of these photos differently than Final Cut Express does. Is there some way I should be preparing these still pictures before I drop them into iDVD, so that the colors will stay normal?
    Tom

Bengt, I have three TVs available to test my DVDs. Only on the smallest and cheapest do the photos look acceptable, and only barely. On the other two TVs, and especially the largest and most expensive one, they look overheated and oversaturated, quite unnatural.
I would agree with you Shippey that it is a monitor calibration issue, but I have two large monitors connected to my Mac, each with different calibration profiles, and the photos look fine on either one of them. They also look fine in the video. Only on the iDVD scene-selection pages do they look odd.
So, here is what I'm trying right now: I went back into iDVD and replaced all the pictures with ones that have been partly desaturated in Photoshop. I went into Photoshop's Hue/Saturation control and pulled down the saturation until some of the color was removed from each picture. Then I put those pictures back into the scene-selection screens of iDVD, and I'm presently burning a fresh DVD (actually a disk image, to start with). I won't know the results for a few hours yet, because I'm using the Professional encoding setting and it takes a long time for iDVD to process that way. I'll report back the results after I burn a new DVD later today and try it out on the TVs.
At least I have learned from you that iDVD is not supposed to require any special kind of Photoshop file, or some "broadcast safe colors" version of a file or something. It is supposed to do it correctly just as I did it--straight out of Photoshop. Why it doesn't do that is still the question.
