Odd cursor displacement in iTunes, Firefox etc
Every now and then the cursor in only certain applications will appear to be "off center" or displaced from the actual target of where I am trying to click. This seems to happen randomly in all applications, but most frequently in iTunes.
I'm a technical user and have no idea what the problem is. The issue exists if I'm using the mighty mouse or the trackpad.
Restarting the application in question usually undoes this issue, but it's reoccurring and annoying! I can record a video of the problem if my description isn't clear enough.
Hi Boston, mine does that once in a while also. The "pointer" will jump, go up, down all over. I thought it might be sensitive and adjusted it, yet now and than it happens. I think my MacBook is possessed by a evil curser demon. Or not? I don't know, mine does it once in awhile, I ignore the odd behavior and it goes away. Like this I live...

All my preferences suddenly missing? Mail,iTunes,Firefox etc Mac OS X 4.11
Hi there,
I own a lovely 7 year-old MacBook Pro, still running OS X 4.11. Before you laugh at me for not upgrading it has worked like a dream and never felt the need to upgrade though am sure I'm missing some good things by not doing so.
Anyhow the other day, down to about my last 6 GB on my internal hard drive (87GB used of 93GB), my Mac Mail started misbehaving and asked me to restart.
On restart, my whole desktop, icons/thumbnails etc were all jumbled beyond recognition, sidebar was almost empty, Mac Mail when opened asked me to start from the beginning (i.e.set up an email account etc etc). I did this, because I could remember the settings for my addresses. Then Mail asked me to import my old mailboxes, which it did - but everything looks different, fonts, no signatures (they'd taken ages to organise) and no inbox or sent meail folders.
Ditto Firefox and Safari - when opened, all bookmarks have disappeared, and all autocomplete passwords for sites have gone.
It's clear my system is pretty messed up. Luckily, I have a bootable Carbon Copy Cloned external drive of how my Mac used to be 6 weeks ago. When I used this to boot, everything above was back to normal.
My questions are:
1) Is there any way to get back to where my system was before the blowout using my Cloned Drive? I.E. Can I simply erase the contents of the internal drive and 'paste' over it with the Cloned Drive? Is this risky?
or
2) Is there a less invasive way - is it easy to reintroduce the old preferences from the Cloned drive?
finally
3) Do I need a new hard drive?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded itunes. I plugged in my iphone and upgraded to the newest itunes/ synched etc. Now have no music or apps on the phone. Contacts, texts, photos all fine. Just all itunes content that is missiing. It isn't showing in my itunes account on my computer or on my phone. Any idea how to get it back? (No point synching with itunes on my computer as it isn't there either!)
I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one. -
My Mac Book hard drive is nearly full. How do I move iTunes music, etc folders to a different location on an external hard drive and still access as if on my Mac?

I no longer have the PC that had my CD library and purchased music on iTunes. I am now on another PC and managed to download my purchased iTunes music etc. Is there a way on iTunes that I can get back my old CD music library without ripping again ? Earlier back up is corrupted. Thank you in advance. No longer have my old iPod but getting new one.
If you had the hard drive from the original machine, a backup of the same, an iPod with the media, or a subscription to iTunes Match then there would have been hope, but alas no.

I'm learning iMovie (version 10.0.6), in OS Yosemite, I can no longer see the menu at the left bottom side (the title, iTunes, garageband, etc.) Did I hit a button to accidentally hide it or something? I imported my media and all of a sudden the menu was gone. I closed it and reopened it. Switched the screen view, still no menu.
Thanks for replying dominic23.....but I don't see that button anywhere. I did click a button that says "video and audio effects", and nothing happened.

I just transferred all my iTunes music, etc. from my PC to a new laptop but the iTunes program, itself, is not on the laptop. How do I get it on there so I can put in my music? Thank you so much
Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to do. I'm in business again! I had thought of doing this, but didn't think my music would automatically transfer into the new iTunes. It did transfer and I updated to the new version and I'm good to go. Thank you again, so very much

I am receiving the error code (-50) when trying to access the itunes store. The original itune songs etc were installed on a win 7 32 bit system and I have now moved to a win 7 64 bit system (same PC) and have copied the folder across. Has the switch from 32 to 64 bit caused the problem? Is this why I get the error code? I can, however, access the itunes store to view my account. Any ideas please?

My iMac (2007) keeps shutting off when in Full Screen mode (DVD, iTunes Visualizer, etc.) This only happens when I have an external monitor hooked up HDMI. Help?
Try using another connection such as VGA or DVI to see if the problem repeats itself.

Macbook Pro - Kernal Crash when using browsers (Safar, Firefox, etc.)
A couple of days ago my computer started giving me the dreaded Kernel crash (You need to restart your computer. Hold the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button.) whenever I browsed the internet. I tried using different browsers, installing fresh copies of Firefox, etc. but nothing works. I have isolated the problem further and it seems to be that the problem arises when I go to GMAIL, among other sites (I think it happened on Facebook too). Might it have something to do with some kind of scripts/flash/etc. in GMAIL (maybe when the CHAT menu is loading or something?). I can't access my e-mail at all.
I would love to resolve this issue and I have no idea where it came from. Just started one day. ONLY change I had made before noticing the problem was I installed a USB Internet key software to connect to the internet, but I don't see why that would cause the problem. -
Whenever I try to enter my credit card information into iTunes via either my mac book or my iphone it says there is an error and says "for assistance, please contact itunes support, etc...". Can anyone help with this?
I haven't had any luck at all getting it resolved using iTunes support so I'm hoping someone who's encountered the problem can help me.What did itunes suport tell you?

A friend can't update her iPad (1) operating system as it keeps telling her to do, as her Internet timed out after 12 hours. Can we use my PC with a fast Internet or will that mess up my iTunes, syncing etc? Should she just find an apple store?
- She can try disabling the the security software on here computer during the download and update.
- Update the iPad on your computer will not mess up yur computer or iPad. However, she will then have to restore the iPad on her computer if she want to sync to that computer. Also, unless all the media is on your computer it will not be on her computer after the update. -
I have downloaded Firefox 4 on my Mac which is running OS 10.4.11 and it will not open. It has displaced my previous Firefox 3. How can I recover my previous Firefox (and all my tabs?)

Does anyone have an idea how to configure the proxy settings when using a dynamic send port to connect to an ftp server? When using the FTP send port there is the property 'Server' to specify the proxy settings, but how would this be done with a dyna
