Odd graphic in mail

Oddly, I noticed that every email I forward from work ends up with an image of a kiss in the upper right hand corner...directly across from the FROM, TO, SUBJECT section.
Anyone else have this or some other graphic only on email from a specific address? Am I missing something?

Does this appear when viewing messages sent by the account in the account's Sent mailbox at work?
If so, you add a user picture (or available icon) via System Preferences/Users under the Picture tab for your login account and this can also be done with your contact information in the Address Book.
Adding a user picture (or available icon) via System Preferences/Users is an easy process but removing it from there isn't as easy.
To remove the existing, go to your contact information in the Address Book. Select Edit to edit your contact information. Select the "Me" picture area to highlight it and then the Delete key.
The user picture or icon selected is not sent with your messages. In order to do so requires storing the picture or icon on the .Mac server (if you have a .Mac account) and even then, it would only appear if the recipient is a Mail.app user.

  • Odd graphic in mail headers

My sister is seeing an odd image when examining the headers of a received email. When her mouse rolls over an area (I guess where address book info links are) then this huge circle appears. Its a powder blue circle with a small, white, downward pointed triangle at the 3 o'clock position. Also the different header fields become widely spaces vertically...
    Any ideas?

I don't fully understand what are you talking about, but I have the feeling that your sister has been playing too much with fonts lately:

  • Need help deleting graphic junk mail

I need help. I cannot delete graphic junk mail into trash. When I try it says unable to move messages. Messages could not be moved to mailbox trash. And the dial keeps spinning. I'm not getting mail cuz this junk is bogging down my iPad & iPhone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried going on my MAC and deleting but they dont show up there?!? I tried rebooting, hard reset, nothin.
Please anyone out there ? I'd be eternally grateful.

If you cannot delete them on the Mac, it will probably be problematic trying to delete them on the iPad as well.
You said you couldn't delete them on the Mac either. If you mean in the Mac mail app, don't delete them there. Delete them on the server in your web browser. Launch Safari - or whatever browser you use on the Mac and then go to your web mail and delete the email there.

  • Odd graphics problem, eventually leads to forced reboot, or even BSOD

I am fairly certain that this is firefox related, or plug in or maybe compatability issue, however I'm getting weird blocky graphics. which occasionlly seem to begin from a flash frame within a page, but I can't say this is 100% the cause. It looks like small multicolored boxes that are in odd patterns. and causes other odd graphics, it gets worse the longer I let it set. One time for the heck of it I rolled the scroll bar up and down about 10 times very quickly and it caused a BSOD. These odd graphics do not ever appear if I don't open Firefox (have been using IE today) but they do not disappear if I see them and then shut down Firefox. Usually I'm forced to reboot the computer because they take over too much of the screen, I can't see anything. It does change though, when I move windows and such, they are not limited to the Firefox window and spread to the empty desktop too.

Checked settings for Flash and I couldn't find hardware acceleration. 1st tab on Settings Manager is "Storage" and gives options for saving information on my computer ie. "Allow sites to save information on this computer"
2nd tab is Camera and Mic "Ask me when a site wants to use the camera or microphone"
3rd is Playback "Ask me when a site wants to use peer-assisted networking"
4th (last) is Advanced "Check for updates automatically" a couple other settings but no acceleration.

  • Really odd bug in Mail

I occasionally receive pictures from a japanese friend's mobile phone. The file names are like 画像-0203.jpg. The odd thing is mail will just decide to display whichever picture it wants regardless of the number. Let me explain clearly.
(for those wondering, 画像 is pronounced Ga Zoh, it just means Image)
I receive a mail with image 画像-0198.jpg, it's a family playing Wii in japan.
Maybe a little later I will receive another mail from the same person, image 画像-0203.jpg, which in reality is someone singing karaoke but instead displays in the email as 画像-0198.jpg the family playing Wii in japan.
Now if i SAVE those pics, they will save as the correctly named files. If i view as a slideshow, they will display as the correct images. But for some reason in the emails, they all get displayed as the First file i receive.
I tried checking what happens when I quit Mail and reopen. Well the first email I click on from that person will become Mail's favorite and Mail decides to show THAT one in every email. I'm assuming Mail is having trouble with Unicode. What doesn't make sense is, even if Mail is viewing the Unicode as its double-byte equivalent, that's only 4 characters... it shoud be able to differentiate between "DGHY-182" and "DGHY-205" (just as an example).
This HAS to be a bug.

The ability to permanently delete a message without moving it to the Trash first, by means of Edit > Cut (⌘X), seems to be a feature rather than a bug -- I assume you meant Command-X, not Ctrl-X.
It should only work if the main Mail window is on the front and the messages list pane is active, though. Typing ⌘X when a non-editable message window is on the front should do nothing (and it does nothing on my system, just beeps).
Could it be that, for some reason, the message window wasn't the frontmost window when you hit ⌘X? That would certainly explain what happened and it would be intended behavior...

  • 10.6.5 update - 27" iMac, Radeon 5750 odd graphics behaviours?

I updated my new iMac 27" to OS 10.6.5 today and have seen some odd graphics behaviours.
    1. Dock icon for Activity Monitor becomes transparent. Running AM, hidden showing CPU history
    2. White rectangle at bottom of expanding folder (list view)
    3. OK Button blue/white check mark pattern when configuring VPN. GUI feels "slow"
I updated using the Software Update tool; noticed these issues and re-updated using the Combo Installer; no change.
Any ideas or suggestions? Is this just me? I have a MacBook -- no probems at all!

    N Gallagher,
I had the problem earluer, but it got far worse with 10.6.5, however, I fixed it by updating my wacom tablet driver.
It wasn't the system update, but an old driver causing the problem.
Resetting PRAM, SMC and permissions and all the other standard drivel people post is nice sentiments, but it should be clear that the problem is something else because that solution hasn't solved the problem for anyone.
I have the sneaky suspicion that it's old flash and old drivers for most people.
See my original post here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12570261#12570261
BUT. If you have a Wacom tablet, for to their website and download the latest driver from September 10, 2010.
That's all it took for all my graphics problems to go away.

  • Odd graphic appearing in drafts and sent mail opposite sender/date info

Hi, I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer some advice...
I've noticed just this past day or so that some of my draft and sent mail messages have inexplicably got a small image of a basketball appearing on the far right of the messages directly opposite where an addressee's name and the date of the message would appear. A friend has confirmed that he actually received a message with this basketball logo on it...!
The only other time I have seen this logo was last night when I had launched my iChat program for the first time using my aol IM account details, and I'd noticed the basketball graphic had been assigned next to my name when the program was open... But after deciding the iChat program wasn't offering anything I preferred particularly over my existing aol IM account I deleted my account details in iChat and quit the program... Could this be related?
Would be most grateful for any assistance- obviously with many business/work emails to send a basketball logo in the far right header of outgoing mail is not something I am happy with...!
    Thanks.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hello CMK.
Since you have the option to store sent messages on the server, this must be a .Mac or IMAP type account.
If so, quit the Mail.app and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes.
Locate the Sent Messages.mbox for this account - it will be Sent Messages (the IMAP account's name).mbox.
All locally stored mailboxes for a .Mac or IMAP type account are located in the Mailboxes folder.
Move the account's Sent Messages.mbox to the Desktop.
When re-launching Mail, a new Sent Messages.mbox will be created automatically by Mail for the account within the Mailboxes folder when sending the next message with the account.
This will prevent losing any new sent messages with the account while working on the old Sent Messages.mbox to recover the existing messages.
Control-click on the old Sent Messages.mbox moved to the Desktop and at the menu window that appears, select Show Package Contents.
Post back here listing the package content file names and size of each. This information is required to determine the next step to take.

  • When I open fire fox my yahoo page come up very odd, as does mail if I sign in. Can't figure out how to correct this. Home page and mail open fine in others.

When I open Firefox my yahoo home page comes up very odd and not usable. If I log into my e-mail it also comes up odd and not usable. (the tools across the top like delete etc don't show up.) If I go to a different browser and pull up yahoo it is fine, if I log on to my mail there it also comes up fine and usable. Please help am new to Firefox and just barley getting to where I can us it really don't want to have to change to yet another browser. Losing all my stuff again. (Microsoft browser program stopped working) Please help, real desperate here. Thank you. Followed the instruction on how to take a screen shot, did so, but don't know how to attach it here. Didn't see instructions regarding that and beyond my limited abilities. Have it if someone needs it and can tell me how to attach or send.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Dynamic graphic in Mail forms

    Hi All,
I have a mail form which has been created in transaction CRMD_EMAIL. I have been asked to enhance it with a dynamic graphic image.
There will be uploaded 1 image pr customer in transaction SE78.
And for each document I must find the corresponding image.
In normal smartform I can choose between 'Fixed value' and 'Dynamic field value' for graphichs name. And I can see that it works when I create a global variabel eg. 'TESTNAME' and assign it the value '123456'. if I then enter &TESTNAME& as dynamic graphic name, and test print it works fine and prints graphical image 123456.
But in with the mail forms in CRMD_EMAIL, this is not available. If I enter a variable the field disaperes and in test mode i get the error 'Graphic cannot be displayed' - This is identical to the error I get in smartforms if I enter a name that does not exist.
Does anybody knows if this is possible to do in mail forms. Or if I can use the smartforms instead of the Mail forms when working with campaigns.
    Best regards
    Dennis Lybecker

    Hi Gregor,
    Thanks for your quick response.
The document was ment to include a technical drawing regarding the specific installation for the customer/prospect.
It looks like we are going to include this drawing in a different document, which should be created in smartform.
If anybody come up with a way to do this - please let us all know.
    Best regards
    Dennis

  • Umlaute & graphics in mail

    hi.
I have the following problem :
if I send a mail with german umlaute (üöäß) and/or a graphic inside the mail, the recipient receives a fragmented email with strange symbols.
sometimes the pictureattachment is not displayed as attachment. the recipient receives only strange letters.
It seems that the problem mainly appears if the recipient uses outlook express. but not only.
I tried to change the attachment type to "windows compertible" and changing the email format to utf-8.
    but without any effect.
any ideas someone ? I am quite desperate, because I can't tell every recipient to change to a mac

See this note for info on the character problem and possible fixes:

  • Odd Graphics Glitch

When I wake my mid 2010 (latest) 15" Macbook Pro (i7) There occasionally appear random green dots on the background. These are sometimes vaguely arranged in a grid, sometimes one or two, sometimes 10 or more. These are on the image and are software. If you put a pointer or window over them, they disappear. If you use the "digital color meter" they are there, and show up on the magnifier, so they are not a hardware problem with the panel.
If I sleep the computer, then wake, the dots or gone, or there might be a few different random ones.
Could it be a video card problem? I've got applecare, and the computer otherwise works fine, but I would like at some point to solve this..
    anyone any ideas?
    cheers
    John

I'm having the exact same issue on my 2.6GHz MBP, except that it's happening in Mail, as well, and not just due to html rendering. This only happened after the 10.5.2 and the graphics update. I just recently had to shut down my system after the screen went black. I was getting artifacts all over the screen, including the desktop and browser window, with a multi-colored line that went horizontally across the display consisting of one row of pixels and located about an inch and a half below the top of the display. I have only one piece of "skankware" installed and that's Inquisitor for Safari. I'm trying another user today, and hopefully get more info. Has anyone out there tried reinstalling the OS and it continues? If so, this may be an issue with the firmware update.

  • Smartforms Graphics in mail  viewing outside the network

    Hi Gurus
We need to insert the company logo below the signature.
I have uploaded the image to MIME repository and it works fie withint the network
But when then mail is sent to outside the network, the image appears as red X mark because the image link is pointing towards SAP Server.
I need to embed the picture rather than attaching it through the link .. Have seen few codes but its not applicable here..
    Please suggest
    Thanks
    Rakesh

Many thanks for your reply Sandra
I did uplaod the picture in SE78 and attached the graphic to smartforms. However I am not using PDF hence it does not get enbedded in the mail and instead sends a link to the SAP MIME repository URL.
Anyways I was able to embed the picture in the emails using the blog

  • Graphics Issue (Mail)

I upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday and I've noticed that sometimes when I go into Mail, there seems to be a graphics glitch and then goes away.  Today, I went to Apple and they told me its most likely a bug they'll have to patch since it's the first version of ML.  I have a picture to show you (you can see where it's distorted/glitchy).  It's mostly when I open mail with a message from something that has links.  They sent it to the engineers to see what's wrong.  My hardware diagnostic came back fine too.  Should I be worried? It definitely seems like a software issue with ML.  Hopefully Apple fixes this and I'm not the only one.  Thanks for any feedback.

You're certainly not the only person experiencing this. I see it too on my MacBookAir4,2 and have seen a number of other forum posts describing the same thing.
I have only seen it in Mail. It appears over numbers and hyperlinks in messages. It moves with the window when the window is dragged around. It stays in the same place when scrolling the message initially, but after a second the view seems to redraw and the graphics glitches jump to a new position, enmass but maintain their position relative to each other.
It's not your hardware and it's not 'just your luck'; bugs are very common in new software. I get the impression this one is fairly common so I'm sure it will be resolved soon enough.

  • Odd Characters in Mail Application

I have recently started using the Mail application as I only have one license for Entourage which my wife uses. Everything was going well with Mail until I noticed that emails from people who use outlook arrived with letters the wrong way round in word ...for example kind regards is shown as kimd regords.
If I click on View then message then plain text alternative; this changes the email so I can read it however when I hit reply the original txt goes back to being in that funny spelling. Then the words that I type all look odd. So for instance my letters m and n are the other way round in a word like son or mum – they come out like som or nun!!
I have searched the forum to understand what to do here but have failed .....can anyone help please?
I am using a PB G4 Mac OS 10.4.7 – By the way I had to type this email from entourage ...whilst my wife had logged off!!!
    Thanks
    Med

You might try cleaning your font caches with FontFinagler (use google to find it).

  • Allowing graphics in Mail

Is there a setting I can use in Mail to allow me to accept graphics? In adverts from places such as www.deepdiscountdvd.com the pictures don't display leaving a ? mark in their place. This has not happened before and I wonder if some setting has gotten changed?
    TIA

    17" Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Go to Mail > Preferences > Viewing.
For security purposes, you should deselect "Display remote images in HTML messages".
When doing so, if a valid (non-spam) message received includes embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed, there will be a Load Images button at the upper right of the message window just above the message header.
Many spammers format their bulk spam mailings with HTML and include embedded images and/or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed. If so and such a spam message is opened and any embedded images or objects are rendered, this can reveal to the spammer that your email address is valid or "known good" causing even more spam to be received.
If you are automatically rendering all HTML received or not and using the Load Images button for a valid message received that includes images/objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed and some are not rendered properly, this can be a problem with the remote server where these images or objects must be rendered from.
Do you have access to another email client such as the Mail.app on your Mac you can check the same messages with?
