Odd moving colorful circle when I open applications

Many times when I click to open Internet Exlorerer, other apps, or close them, an annoying small rainbow-colored turning circle appears and does not go away! I cannot click on anything at all - it does not turn into an arrow at the top so that I can restart or shut down. All I can do is shut down the computer manually. It happens all the time!
Can someone please help me???
Thank you!

The odd moving colorful circle is "lovingly" referred to as the beachball. Take a look at Dr. Smoke's FAQ on The Spinning Beach Ball of Death. He tells you why it happens and what you can do to control it.
Good luck.

  • My Macbook display changes color when I open applications. It looks like there is a light blue layer over the screen, thus changing the color of my display. This layer goes away when i quit the applications.

I am facing a problem and I am not sure if its a graphic card malfunction. When I open applications like Chrome, VLC player, and most apps, my display suddenly changes color. It is as though the Theme was changed. The normal grey panel on opened windows turns to light blue and everything else seem as though there is a light blue layer on top of it. When I close these applications (quit) the display returns to its normal self.
My MacBook Pro is 2 years old, and I have an extended warranty. Will Apple replace my graphic card if it is actuall the graphic card's problem?

I had that problem, too, and it's been documented both here and on the Adobe forums. What happens is that when you have dynamic switching on, when an application that uses your discrete GPU kicks in, the screen will change color. My problem lasted for a couple of weeks then just vanished.
What you need to do is download Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus and turn off dynamic switching and leave your GPU set to discrete only. That's the only fix that I know of at this time. I don't know why it happens or why mine stopped.
    Good luck,

  • Why does the "alert" noise sound when I open applications?

When I first got this mac, it did not sound when I opened applications, so it's definitely not normal.
I also do not think that this is a type of setting that can be changed, and if it was, I surely did not set it (and nobody else has access to my computer)
I don't know if this is a virus?

    Hi,
Not quite the same issue as yours... But I sometimes get the Alert sound when closing Multiple Windows...
What I do is simply Log Out and then Back In again and it's gone...
( I did Bug Report this to Apple Months ago... )

  • Why the huge color shift when I open .PSD photo in premiere 5.5

I have cs 5.5. I adjust a photo in camera raw. In photoshop I do file>new> film and video.  file>place. It's a smart object.  then crop it to 1920x1080 px. then sharpen . then save the .psd photo. . In premiere, I move this photo to a project. when I open it in the source window the color is way off !   Is that because there is no color management in Pr? I can sort of correct it by increasing brightness, contrast and saturation and changing skin tone with "change to color" effect---but this is a huge workload. What am I doing wrong?

I understand this, but when I am getting different colours from different files it's disconcerting. When I use particular RGB values in a photoshop file and bring it in to Premiere, and then use the same RGB files in the Title Tool, I get completely different colours. That is not a monitor issue.

  • When I open Applications, installers open

So I'm not sure if this is just on my Mac because I've never heard of this happening to anyone, or if it's the new software, but whenever I go to Finder and open the Applications tab, a whole bunch of installers open like Adobe, Silverlight, and Microsoft Office. I downloaded these things a long time ago and this didn't start happening until I downloaded the new computer software because when I downloaded these things in the past, I did eject the installers and each time they pop up after opening Applications I eject them yet again they just won't seem to go away and I'm not sure what this means or what I can do.

    Welcome to the Forums!
The freeze-then-return-to-home-screen is the app "crashing", and sometimes that causes problems with the OS as well. A reset or power off-then-on should correct the issue. With the SKD available to any T, D, or H that wants to develop apps, there are going to be some poorly coded ones (i.e. unstable) out there.
    Hope this helps...

  • Freezing iTouch when I open applications

Sometimes when I open an application on my 32gb iTouch, it freezes and goes to a black screen with the white apple logo. What is wrong? Than after a few minutes and after I connect it to my laptop, it goes back to the home page and some of the icons are mixed up.

hi goodatITno, other affected users tied this same issue to the mcafee siteadvisor extension - please try to disable or remove that in case you have it present until there's an update by mcafee which addresses this problem.

  • Display color changes when Photoshop opens

    Hi there,
Since recently, whenever I open Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) or Illustrator CS6 (16.1.0), the display color changes, i.e. as if the display color profile termporarily changes to a different one. Even if I switch to another app, the color change will remain until I quite Photoshop or Illustrator. Using Mac OS 10.8.2.
Does anyone anyone have an idea how to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks!

The color shift happens when the computer changes the graphics card (from Intel HD to Nvidia or AMD). It's a problem of Mac OS X 10.8.x. I found a simple solution that worked (at least for me):
Turn off automatic graphics switching in System Preferences > Energy Saver
    Reboot your computer
Turn automatic graphics switching on again (or leave it off, as you like ...)
It seems that the mac has to start up with the discreet graphics card turned on (Nvidia or AMD).

  • Why does the color change when I open a warm image in Photoshop CS6?

Whenever I open a warm color image in Photoshop CS6, the color of the image automatically changes? Please see the attached screenshots below.
What is the solution to this problem? Please Help.
    I use Windows 7 Ultimate. Photoshop CS6.
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 2000

There is no "problem" to "fix". A raw file is just the data captured by the sensor, not yet an image. To produce a useful image it needs to be processed in a raw converter, either automatically in-camera or with a standalone converter (ACR).
The camera LCD shows you an in-camera processed jpeg, according to the camera manufacturer's idea of how the raw data should be interpreted. There is nothing inherently "correct" about this, and a lot of the original data have been thrown away in the process.
ACR doesn't make any assumptions about how the final image should look. It shows you a neutral starting point, with default settings to preserve as much of the original data as possible. The rest is up to you. You're not supposed to just accept the defaults. The sliders are there for a reason.
You can change the ACR defaults at any time if you come up with settings that are more to your taste.

  • Color change when opening in Reader

Hi, I created a PDF in Photoshop. I then added an editable field in Acrobat, using the same RGBs. When I open the file in Reader, the color of the editable field does not match. Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this?  I have the most recent version of Acrobat and Reader.
    Thanks,
    Jackie

Here is a screen shot of the reader PDF, followed by the original file in Acrobat. You can see that the entire document color changed when I opened it in Reader.
    THanks,
    Jackie

  • When open application suddenly close

Hi i got ipad MINI here i already reset like new...but still happen when i open application even it fresh new reset. i think maybe home button or screen... have anyone exprience this kind of problem

You mean all the applications? Or only a single one?
Method 1: Clear it/all apps out of the multitasking.
    Steps:
    1) Double tap the home button
    2) Clear out all the apps.
A- If iOS 6 and under:
•Once the Multitasking Bar comes out, press and hold on any app and click the red "-" button.
    B- iOS 7.0 and above:
    • Once the Multitasking comes up, swipe up all the apps.
Method 2: Have you tried restarting? Press and hold on the off/sleep button until the power slider comes out. Swipe. Mote that this will NOT wipe your iPad. Once off, press and hold on the home or off/sleep button until the Apple Logo comes. Now wait until your iPad is on
    Method 3: Contact Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/he57
Method 4: Backing up device in iTunes / iCloud. Buy a new iPad, and restore from backup on your new iPad. This must be done if none of the methods work in order to fix your iPad.
