Odd page breaks

Hello,
I am building books using indesign, and I was wondering if there was a way to put in odd page breaks after each of my documents without creating blank pages. Right now what I have done is put the book together, then selected "Book page numbering options" "Continue on next odd page" "Insert blank page"
My books look exactly how I want them to using this method, however, in order to reduce the cost of having them printed, I was wondering if there was a way to put the books together and print them to look like this without having to add blank pages.
Thanks for your help!

So ... after a last right hand text page numbered "21", you'd be happy to see a left hand page numbered "23"?
Can you give any book title that does this? Anywhere, anytime in history? ... If not, would you mind being the first?

  • Even and odd page break

    Hi ALL
    I have a requirement in my report there are two things location with customer details and meter reading with costing Now my req is that location details should come on odd pages and starting from page 3. For meter details should come on even pages starting from page 4 can you plz help me in this
    Regards
    Prasoon

    i did not quite get what your report structure is.
    Is it something like
    -Customer
    -- Location details
    -- Meter reading
    -Customer
    -- Location details
    -- Meter readingIf so does the customer record fill pages 1 and 2?
    Does the location details always fit on one page or could per be more data than for one page?
    Does the meter-reding details always fit on one page or could per be more data than for one page?

  • How do i print a table on odd pages leaving the same space in the even page

    Hi,
    I have created an RTF for Invoice Printing and the invoice will be physically printed (hard copy using printer) on both sides of the paper.
    I now have a table/section to be printed only on the first page and the second page should be printed without this header (the header should be displayed as space).
    How do i use even and odd page printing for this? I can send you the xml file and rtf file, could you please help me to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Kesava

    Guessing here
    In the RTF the first page has whatever you were going to put on it.
    On the second page you put your invoice format/field codes etc.
    I am assuming you are using a for-each at the begining of each invoice?
    If the invoice is fixed length, then make the invoice two pages long before you finish the first for-each group.
    for-each
    page of invoice + blank page
    page break
    end for-each
    Headers and footers might get in the way.

  • Different page number eve/odd pages pages 5.2

    i am writing a thesis for my university and by formatting rules i need the pages number on even pages to be on the to(header) left and odd pages on the top(header) right. now this was super easy to do in pages 09 and before. i haven't needed that feature ever since but now i do and in pages 5.2 it seems to be impossible. as this is also a feature essential to publishing, due to the binding of the pages which makes it necessary to print them either "inside" or "outside" i cannot believe that apple has removed this feature as it would make writing documents intended for publishing in pages pointless. please help. thank you

    thanks for your reply but it's the most recent version there is, or at least i assume so because there are no updates available. i wish now i would still own my old notebook because on this machine MBP late 2013 i never had and still don't have a copy of the old iWork's 08/09.
    i take it from your answer that my efforts in finding a solution are futile because the formatting option i'm asking for has been removed from the code?
    the only way pages lets me have different formats for even and odd pages is by either manually inserting a section break every time i reach the end of a page(as opposed to just writing in the flow) or manually numbering the pages after i have completed my work, both don't really turn me on so much as the document will end up in at least 200pages(required by my university) probably more given my research.
    last option appears to be to install MS-word, which i really really really want to avoid because i am a convinced apple user for over a decade now......or maybe would you know where i can procure a copy of the old iWorks, the internet seems to only offer me questionably legal downloads.

  • Even and Odd pages PO

    I have to create a po print on both sides.
    The odd pages have the po but the odd pages have condition terms, is there a way in xml publisher to do this.
    Can I test on page number, or can I set default text for odd pages ?
    Thanks for your help

    Do you really need bleed at the spine? Unless you are doing spiral binding, or you really have art dying into the binding, you generally don't.
    In cases where you do, it is easy to "break" a facing-pages spread into a left and right half. Disable page shuffling for the spread, then just pull it apart. See InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Breaking Pages Apart to Bleed Off a Spine
    There's a script reference down inthe comments from Harbs, too, that will do the entire document if you need it (I believe Daniel said earlier today that he's had trouble with the script once and had to break the spreads manually, but I've never seen another report of a problem.)

  • Page break as part of a paragraph style?

    Hello,
    is there a way to add page break as part of a paragraph style? I'd like for my "Heading 1" to always start on a blank page.
    Thanks!

    Use the keep option in the style for the heading itself. Set to start on next page, next odd page, or next even page. The following paragraph style should be set to start anywhere.

  • [Linux 8.1.2] Two up view: Odd Pages on Left Side

    Hi,
    Since upgrading to Version 8:
    In Two Up mode, the odd pages are shown on the left. This breaks facing pages, and is in conflict with the online manual at:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Reader/8.0/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195 ff-7faf.html
    There it clearly states:
    "Note: If a document has more than two pages, the Two-Up and Two-Up Continuous views display the first page alone on the right side of the document pane, to ensure proper display of two-page spreads."
    That's what I'm used to and what makes sense, but it's exactly the other way around.
    Is there any kind of configuration I can make. I searched the gui, but did not find anything specific. Maybe some hidden config file?
    bye, Michael

  • Skip odd pages

    Hi everyone!
    I've got a problem printing a report. I'm printing both side of a page.
    Then when I've got a odd page I have to skip to a new page. Then,
    I'd like to know if either that feature is possible or I have to print my report in a different way.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    ricardo,
    understanding your question correctly, i assume you want to start the instances of your main repeating frame always on an odd page (e.g. 1,3,5,7,9) resulting in printing on the facing page in duplex printing.
    you can do this by putting an object on the beginning of your block (e.g. a white line) and create a format trigger, that shows this object only on even pages. then you specify the page-break before property.
    what happes is, that the first object that is formatted on the first page of each repeating-frame instance will be this object. if it happens to be on an even page (back of the physical sheet of paper), the object is formatted but before that a page-break is performed, hence the object will end up an an odd page (=facing side of the physical sheet of paper). in case your instance happens to be formatted onto an odd page, the object is not formatted and the page-break is not performed.

  • Page Break Help

    Hi,
    I am trying to display 2 vendors on a page and then have a page break. I'm not having much luck with this. I can page break after each, but that won't work for me. Here is a sample of what I have.
    - <TEST>
    - <LIST_G_MAIN_SELECT>
    - <G_MAIN_SELECT>
    <VENDOR_NAME>Ms. A</VENDOR_NAME>
    </G_MAIN_SELECT>
    - <G_MAIN_SELECT>
    <VENDOR_NAME>Mr. B</VENDOR_NAME>
    </G_MAIN_SELECT>
    - <G_MAIN_SELECT>
    <VENDOR_NAME>Ms. C</VENDOR_NAME>
    </G_MAIN_SELECT>
    </LIST_G_MAIN_SELECT>
    </TEST>
    I'm not very familiar with setting up variables and using count, so any help would be great!
    -CC

    Hi,
    I will explain what Vetsrini's code is doing here:
    <?for-each:TEST/LIST_G_MAIN_SELECT/G_MAIN_SELECT?>
    This is creating a loop that will repeat for every occurence of G_MAIN_SELECT in the XML document.
    <?position()?>
    This will display the position of the G_MAIN_SELECT in the XML document. For example the first occurence will display 1 the second occurence will display 2 and so on..
    VENDOR_NAME: <?VENDOR_NAME?>
    Shows some boiler plate text and the value of the Vendor Name element within the current occurence of G_MAIN_SELECT
    <?if:position() mod 2=0?> <?split-by-page-break:?> <?end if?>
    This is testing whether or not the modulus 2 of the position() value is equal to 0 or not. If it is then the page break is insert, if not the page break will not be inserted. This is effectively doing an odd or even test on the value for position().
    <?end for-each?>
    Closes the for-each loop
    I hope this helps you to understand the above code slightly better.
    Regards,
    Cj

  • For each loop start on odd page number

    Hy,
    I've an rtf template with a for each loop. I want to skip a page between each loop and to start each new loop on an odd page number (duplex printing). It's easy to skip a page but i don't know how to start each loop on an odd page. i've tried this before or after my for-each
    <?section:force-page-count;'end-on-even-layout'?>
    but it doesn't work for me.
    Sorry for my english
    regards

    One way of doing this is to create an object (B_1) at the end of the report and only have the object print if the current page is an odd page.
    - To force the page break, you need to set the "page break before" property against "B_1".
    - To test the page number in the format trigger use the srw.get_page_num(page_num out number) built-in function.
    You need to make sure that "B_1" is formatted after all the other objects in the layout. One way of ensuring this is to create a frame around all the other objects and make the frame variable. Any objects that come below the frame will be formatted after the variable frame.
    There is still the issue of any margin objects. Since margin objects print before any objects in the body, your margin objects will still print in the overflow page. However, this may be what you want if you're printing the page number in the margin.

  • BI Publisher Desktop - RTF - Start New Group on Odd Page

    Hi All,
    Versions:
    APEX 3.1.2
    BI Publisher Desktop: 10.1.3.4
    BI Publisher Server: 10.1.3.4 on LINUX
    Duplex Printing
    Problem:
    I tried to get this answered on the BI Publisher forum but it was kinda quiet over there.
    I need to start a sub-group on an ODD page in a printed report. BI Publisher does not support MSWord Section Breaks inside inner groups. It strips out the section break RTF code from the RTF file (\sbkodd).
    Question:
    Is there a way to put the following logic (or equivalent) into BI Publisher Desktop (MS Word RTF format)?
    IF Page_number is ODD then
    ....insert page break
    END IF
    Insert page break
    I am wondering if I am missing something obvious.
    Cheers,
    Patrick Cimolini

    Patrick,
    This is not a great way to accomplish this but it might work:
    1. in addition to your data set send an item which contains the COUNT of the record set.
    2. find out how many records are displayed per page.
    3. add some sort of sequence to your rowset such as ROWNUM and check to see if FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) +1
    FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) + DECODE(mod(ROWNUM,rows_per_page),0,0,1) is odd.
    edit
    that math is off, the last record will get pushed to the next page ill correct it...

    In the template I group the data based on CLASSIFICATION and then sort on the same column CLASSIFICATION. I have a page-break applied for every group.
    When I generate the PDF, I am not getting the page-breaks for every group. Instead some of them are displayed in the same page.
    But when I remove the sorting that I had in the template on the column CLASSIFICATION, I am getting the output in the desired way but not in a sorted order.

    Hi All,
    I am using MS-WORD 2007 and BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.3.3.
    When I use split-by-page-break, splitting is performed for every line .. but not for group of lines.
    Can anybody throw some light on this?
    FYI...
    I am using this code:
    ?if: position() mod 6= 0?
    ?split-by-page-break:?
    ?end if?
    (Of course with in tags)
    in G_LINES loop.
    Can anybody help me out :-(

  • Pages '08 does not import MS Word Page-breaks

    Pages '08 imports MS Word 2004 for Mac documents without the page-breaks.
    I love the Mac interface and really want to stop using MS software. I was hopeful with all the good press about Pages '08. I downloaded the 30-day trial and immediately discovered this glitch.
    I must be able to exchange 300+ page manuscripts with MS Office users. If Pages cannot import the page-breaks in these documents, it's a deal-breaker for me. I'm not going to go through and re-insert 300+ page-breaks everytime I have to edit and return a document.

    I've had the same problem as Jeffrey ... but with Appleworks 6 documents. I can import a small amount of Appleworks pages with hard page breaks (Insert Page Break) but when I try to import the entire 300 pages of my manuscript into Pages '08 the page breaks move up and are not where they should be. Also, many of my large Appleworks text manuscript files (no graphics) will not open in Pages '08. On top of that, the line spacing in Pages is a big headache,. I still am unable to place 11 lines on the first page of each Chapter (as I have done before in Appleworks with no problem). Sometimes it will give me 11, next time it will be 12. Hitting return once often moves two lines of type rather than one. Very frustrating. I have followed instructions and even added styles with my own template. I also used "Exact" spacing of 24 pt with my 12pt type because using double spacing is not even close to what double spacing is in Appleworks using the exact same font (Times New Roman, 12pt w/ 24pt spacing.) Any help will be appreciated (before I go back to Appleworks).

  • Page Break in rtf template

    Hi
    We have inserted page break using split-by-page-break in rtf template, it is working if we use page break syntax for 2 sub sections after main section
    where as it is not working if we have 3 sections giving syntax below in both cases
    Groups and syntax used with 2 sections (Page break at G_OPERATIONS is working)
    <?for-each@section:G_JOB?>
    <?start:body?>
    <?for-each:G_OPERATIONS?>
    <?IF:CF_SHOW_RES='Y' ?>
    <?for-each:G_RESOURCES?> <?end for-each?>
    <?end if?>
    <?split-by-page-break:?> <?end for-each?>
    <?end for-each?>
    <?end body?>
    Groups and syntax used with 3 sections (Page break at G_OPERATIONS is not working)
    <?for-each@section:G_JOB?>
    <?start:body?>
    <?for-each:G_OPERATIONS?>
    <?IF:CF_SHOW_RES='Y' ?>
    <?for-each:G_RESOURCES?> <?end for-each?>
    <?end if?>
    <?IF:CF_SHOW_OP='Y' ?>
    <?for-each:G_INSTRUCTIONS?> <?end for-each?>
    <?end if?>
    <?split-by-page-break:?> <?end for-each?>
    <?end for-each?>
    <?end body?>
    Let me know if any hints on fixing this issue

    Try using <xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:attribute> within a form field instead of using the split-by-page-break.
    You can also use this <xsl:attribute name="break-after">page</xsl:attribute> depending on your requirement..
