Odd pages being loaded

So....Using Safari 4.0.5, OS 10.6x 64bit. If I go to accuweather.com I'm redirected to their mobile page.
Also, If I go to the seattlep-i.com/fun/{name of comic strip here} I get redirected to not really a different site but rather a "wrapper" (for lack of a better word or understanding) that requires me to select the content I want to display instead of just picking the link directly from the list. When I visit these sites with the MBP (same OS & vers same network but wirelessly & in 32bit mode). The pages / sites work as suspected.
I've flushed the cache, and the like but the results haven't changed.
Any ideas??? THanks

I'm sorry Carolyn I thought my first post included that information, perhaps you missed it (line 1).
As to TS: the specific processes were tried sometime back for other reasons. I didn't mention them because they fall into a low probability of pertinence of the issues at hand.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate the suggestions but I think we need to be looking a little deeper then basic settings, cache flushing and reinstalls.
I will be building a new profile as a test, but since the profile in use is relatively new I'm doubtful that will be a solution.
As to the profile let me reiterate, the machine in question: Mac Pro tower, 2.8ghz intel quad. OSX 10.6.3, safari 4.0.5, Firefox, 3.6.x, Intego VB 6.x (same settingsfor both Mac's)
internet: dynamic IP, 20Mb/s cable; Airport 5.5.1, RJ45 ethernet to tower, wireless to MBP (also running same OS & software configuration). I won't get into the Windows XP machine or the two iTouch/iPods.

  • How can I disable incesant rambling alarm "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" in FF17?

In using FF 17.0.1 in a WinXP/SP3 notebook (Acer) while traveling abroad I get unrelenting rambling and totally inconsequential display alarms "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." The page in question looks perfectly fine and there is NO problem whatsoever in its display. The only problem is this annoyingly useless alarm, which forces the screen display to the tab where the supposed error occurred when one is in a different tab -- in a couple of instances, this absolutely unnecessary, forced jump to a different tab has made me lose data being entered in a different tab.
The notebook is extremely lean in its booting process -- no shared DLLs preloaded; no crapware; limited essential start-ups; trimmed unused or irrelevant services. The alarm occurs:
    (1) with FF and the OS in either normal or safe mode (i.e., both safe mode, both normal mode, or one safe mode and the other normal mode);
    (2) using different Western European ISPs;
    (3) using different DNS servers (either default European ones, or manually selected top-tier U.S. servers);
    (4) and with a number of different web pages (such as many in sites of news organizations) but not in all pages (for instance, none of the different Google server pages).
The alarm does NOT occur browsing the same pages with either Chrome, Opera or IE.
I have not been able to find a clearly marked entry for such an alarm in about:config, and am weary of start changing alarms settings blindly. The text of this alarm is not found in firefox.exe so it must be in one of its associated libraries. Given that this alarm is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS, especially in its manic wanton conditions, can some one give me an informed opinion on how to disable it? TIA

Thanks for responding, David. Using <Esc> and <CtrlW> might reduce the time in returning to the other tab, but does little when the triggering of a wanton alarm is very frequent. The connections I have used were extremely reliable and fast. I am using at this moment a 54 Mbps WiFi connection that lives up to its ratings in downloading & uploading data; yet, as shown in the attached image, I still get this worthless alarm. I do not know if this problem happens with my regular ISP since I have been using this tiny notebook only when traveling -- will test that once I am back mostly for curiosity, but even then if then the alarm were not triggered this would be of little consolation, since other browsers do not have the problem right now).
As a moderator, I urge you to ask the Mozilla-powers-to-be why there is no way to turn off the alarm with, say, a true/false switch in about:config (mind you, there is still old-versions junk in this config list, so it isn't we are talking about amending the constitution). Complains about this fugly alarm can be traced in the web as far back as 2010 at least. Besides, what is the advantage of the alarm for the average user? When FF users are still posing amazingly basic questions in forums of Firefox or Mozilla support, such an alarm ought to be _off_ by default and should be an option of advanced settings menu. This annoyance shows how much the critical focus on keeping a simple GUI uncluttered by trivial or higher-level messages still needs to evolve for Firefox, which I have used it since it was known a Firebird. Guess will have to switch to Chrome now while abroad.

  • Acrobat 7.0 convert printing multiple bookmarks as odd pages

    Hi all,
A common problem I've been having is being sent .pdf's with bookmarks, and only one page; the rest bookmarks. How can I print them as 'odd pages' then print as 'even pages' so I'm not wasting lots of paper. Also too time consuming to print one page at a time.
    Any help greatfully received.
    Regards
    Darren

Thanks I'm aware of that feature.
The bookmarks are there, but there aren't any pages. You have to click on the bookmark to display said page. There is a total of 30 documents (pages but we won't call them that as they are bookmarks). When you go to print you need to click on the bookmark/page you want to print, and it only recognises that page. Not the other 29 bookmarks.
My understanding/research on bookmarks indicates pages are needed. However this document is not showing that at, the bookmarks are treated as pages. As I did not create the document I wonder what the scandal is???

  • Replacing multiple odd pages in Acrobat X

I have a document that needs a number of pages replacing, the problem being is that the pages in the document are not in sequence. The pages that I need to replace are all the odd ones 1,3,5,7,9,11,13..... e.t.c  If the pages were in sequence then this would not be an issue as its possible to select using shift then drag the page thumbnails across and replace using the shortcut ctrl and alt. I thought this method would work by selecting all the odd pages using ctrl , then select all the pages that require replacing in the document then drag them across but this does not work, when they are dragged into the document the pages are replaced in sequence.
I hope this makes sense, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Now THAT was helpful (double click on the cropped part, etc.). WHY did they make it so hard/nonintuitive to find such a much-needed feature? Weird. (I'm using the Windows version, but same weirdness there.)

  • Help! Changing bleed/margins on even & odd pages in same file?

I'm laying out a children's book and the printer requires the interior files to be submitted in single page layout(no spreads). The binding side margin and bleed is different than the top, bottom, and outside edges - basically the pages mirror each other. How do I set up the document so the even pages have one setting and the odd pages have the mirror settings ( without laying it out as facing pages in spreads)??

Unless this book is being wirobound there's no need to have bleed on the inside edge.
This is a wirobound book http://www.promotionalmerchandise.co.uk/images/T/A5_Wiro_Bound_Poly_Plus_Pad.jpg
All the images inside this would be single pages, so it would need to bleed all the way around on all edges.
If it's perfect bound http://www.allionprinting.com/wordpress/images/perfect2.jpg or saddle stitched http://www.bestbookprinting.com/img/saddle-stiched-lg.jpg
Then you do not need to bleed on the inside pages.
Usually anything that crosses the spine will be printed on both pages.
If you your intentions are to have the image go right into the spine area then butt it right up against the spine DO NOT CROSS THE SPINE or else it will appear on the facing page.

  • Pages wont load, links become inactive

Hello, I have had this issue for a while and I have finally decided to ask for some help, usually I can find answers to my problems but am a bit stumped on this one.
    My issue is this:
I do a search, right click link and open in new tab - works 80% of the time. ok other 20% page wont open just stuck. Whats interesting though is I have found if I refresh the google search page I can then open the link fine, - the first open page is still sitting there spinning around, sometimes when the link opens this will kick the first try into finding the site. Now it has been getting worse. Now links on web pages becoming inactive as in i click on the link and nothing happens, right click and it does not have open in new tab ect. Its as though the page has lost all of it connections to the internet. sometimes when i refresh the page after a link not working it will open the linked page? bizarre.
I have done a lot of research on this and have done things like clear the cache,
    uninstalled and reinstalled firefox,
    changed to new profile,
and a myriad of other things mainly in regards to pages wont load.
does this happen in other browsers, I barely use other browsers so haven't noticed that it does.
I use ghostery and ad block plus, ad block pop up, ad block is set to exclude google.
does this happen on other computers with firefox on my wireless network? not as much sometimes pages wont load but can put that down to internet or wireless issues.
I cant rule out it being a browser issue because when pages wont load from google links i can open bookmarks and the pages load as well as links from them out to the internet, and the page open via google still sits on spinning, try the link again and again and still wont load.
Could it just be a bad link? it happens far too often for the internet to have that many bad links.
    other clues,
Ad block plus and ghostery have used this and updated for a long time with out these issues.
Issues only started with the last couple of firefox updates.
something of interest is that this issue started around the time we upgraded to adsl 2+ from adsl and got a new modem, but the internet is still connected and I can still surf from the bookmarks so that could be just a coincidence so I still cant rule out a browser issue.
oh does the page time out - eventually yes but takes a long time, I do see it saying waiting for fonts.google or other such things but tried all of those fixes and nothing helps.
I hope I have been able to get my issue across.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Even pages not loading/printing in print preview

    Hi guys,
I've been using Firefox for a number of years & it wasn't until yesterday (06 April 15) that I encountered an issue with printing... When trying to print my eBay invoices, everything loads fine but then when I go into Print Preview only the odd pages appear to have loaded completely, all of the even ones only have 1 or 2 lines of text on them.
I have restarted the browser, the pc, run all of the tests, tried other browsers (where everything loads), deleted the printer settings as per the help pages, etc but all to no avail.
Any helps would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

This is strange, in another thread I had suggested that it was a stored preference in the presets to only print odd pages, but even in the print preview this happens. If you save the invoice locally and open it with a preview, does the pdf not load these pages? This will tell if its something to do with the pdf.

  • Home page not loading correctly in iFrame

So I have put together a site (which is still being tested)
    and one of the
bugs I have is: I have a SWF that loads different content
    into an iframe on
the opposite side of the page from it. All pages except the
    "homepage"
load properly. The home page is being loaded dynamically into
    the iframe
    with javascript.
However it doesn't load up all i get is this message:

Hard to comment without seeing any code but there's no need to rename your local root folder to be the same as your remote root folder.
Provided the site definitions (local and remote) in DW are set correctly and the Host directory for the Remote Site is set to "public_html", DW can handle the file paths.
I have several sites on different areas of my local hard drive with various folder names. Likewise the Host directory for the Remote Site varies: html, public_html, web and so on. DW is happy with all of them.

  • Pages dont load in safari

for some reason when i upload my website to the web once i try to view it in safari on the the welcome page will load up somtimes.
when i clip on other pages such as photos or podcasts and about me it loads a blank screen in which i need to click refresh to view anything.
    am i doing something wrong?

No responses to this one yet eh? Bummer. My page just started doing the same thing. It was working great for almost a year, then all of a sudden a few weeks ago this started happening. My page is:
    www.tlolson.com
If you visit the site in Safari you get a blank page. You have to either hit refresh or just click anywhere on the page and it will load. This only happens in Safari and just started happening. I host through 1&1 and forward to my .mac account. I have found by searching this forum that the fix is by switching to HTTP redirect instead of Frame redirect. This fixes the safari load issue, but I don't want to use HTTP direct because the website title and meta description end up being my .mac address instead of tlolson.com.
I am hoping someone out there has another fix.
    Thanks!
    Brian

  • Odd page breaks

    Hello,
I am building books using indesign, and I was wondering if there was a way to put in odd page breaks after each of my documents without creating blank pages. Right now what I have done is put the book together, then selected "Book page numbering options" "Continue on next odd page" "Insert blank page"
My books look exactly how I want them to using this method, however, in order to reduce the cost of having them printed, I was wondering if there was a way to put the books together and print them to look like this without having to add blank pages.
    Thanks for your help!

So ... after a last right hand text page numbered "21", you'd be happy to see a left hand page numbered "23"?
Can you give any book title that does this? Anywhere, anytime in history? ... If not, would you mind being the first?

  • Is there a script to change paragraph style based on even/odd page

Is there a script or way to have paragraph style change between 2 styles based on the text being on an even or odd page?

@JustMikey – as I understand your task, the problem has nothing to do with "special" paragraph styles, but (nearly) all with anchored objects (the images and parts of the gray bar) and appropriate margin settings.
Just see the following IDML file I exported from InDesign CS5.5:
    Dropbox - ImagesAwayFromSpine-CS5.5.zip
    ImagesAwayFromSpine-CS5.5.zip
         ImagesAwayFromSpine-CS5.5.idml
         080731_Manchester-xxl_Grau.tif
Of course you could add paragraph styles to format the data automatically or optimize in other ways.
That's up to you. But you can see the principle:
Inspect the Anchored Object Options for the image and the gray bar. Also the frame fitting options for the image.
Note: See also the margin settings, that are not exactly mirrored on even and odd pages (for good reason).

  • I have some web pages that loaded completely when using 3G but partially loaded using Wifi.

I have some web pages that loaded completely when using 3G but partially loaded (only text without any images ) using Wifi. Is it a site specific issue?

Can you rule out the NoScript extension as a cause of the issues on those sites? Even if you allow the main site to run scripts, often a website will spread its content over additional servers, so you may need to visit the "S" button menu a second or third time to get full functionality. (Over time, you'll recognize some the servers as being for ads, tracking, or sharing buttons and you can just let those parts of the page not work.)

  • Placeholders display when page is loading

    Hi,
I am using spry 1.6 and have made a page where data is loaded
from XML and displayed using PagedView, when ever the page is being

Is there anyway to not show this when the page is loading.

    HI Experts and Gurus!
we have built a custom B2B shop. We would need to add in all the pages a message that is stating "Dear Customers, data is being load" while retrieving data from the backend, since sometimes it can take several seconds to retrieve big amount of data, and we'd need to do it pretty quick-
Does anybody know how activating the standard SAP message also in custom modified page or another way to do it?
    Thanks in advanace!!

    Hi,
This can be achieved through scripting.
Search for script in google to show a message until the page is loaded.

  • Pages not loading - youtube, Yahoo, flikr etc etc

    Hello all
I'm having a bit of an odd problem. Certain pages don't load correctly in Safari or Firefox.
I have tried the advice of http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5736973&#5736973
The page will display as blank with 'completed x of y items'. Eventually the page will load (maybe 5 minutes) but not as designed but in a simple format, no graphics etc.
    Any thoughts?
    Mick

I am by NO means an expert in this, but it sounds to me like you have a slow connection. You don't have any info entered about your OS, or type of computer. Wondering if you're using wireless and maybe are too far from the base station?
This occasionally happens when my internet connection is running slow for whatever reason.
I'm sure others who have more experience will respond. Good luck.
